    I think it’s time for a successor but there def needs to be Helix support for 5 years due to a number of units out there. I feel they need to focus on a smaller footprint with lots of power ala Stomp XL format but more engine power to last another 10 years.

    why have these Helix Death videos appeared all at once? It feels as if Line6 paid everyone to sell as many Helixes as possible before they announce something new lol.

  • @Hickeroar
    @Hickeroar 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @6:12 - I think one of the big drivers of the uptick in sales might have something to do with some competitive products coming out that just aren't truly "better." When the TMP, QC, and Headrush Prime all release "cutting edge" new stuff, and many aspects of them just cant stand up to the 10 year old offering from Line6...people are going to adopt the thing that has a gargantuan ecosystem and undying fan support. Considering the age of the hardware in the Helix, it's got quite an impressive amount of power.
    Sure, the QC has pedal and amp capturing, but if we're actually honest here, *almost* no one is going to be using that. The downsides of the QC otherwise, and it's disappointing DSP considering the theoretical limits it SHOULD have with its processing power....just drive people away. The market for capturing is vanishingly small, and there are better products out there for it. Too many people have pretty much *only* a multi-effects setup.

    I waited for so long because I had an HD500X that had just as much staying power as any.
    The decision point was when Line6 started reducing HD series support for the Helix. So I would say that is my jumping off point, when Line6 stops supporting the Helix, then I’ll start worrying.

    I love the Helix floor for a solo musician. With the ability to have a microphone for vocals and a separate line for the guitar.....it is incredibly versatile.
    I really wish they would add an acoustic amp model and the biggest wish would be some vocal effects like what TC Helicon does where the harmonizer will autodetect your guitar key and adjust the harmonizer to that. Be great to have a double vocal effect as well.
    I absolutely love my Helix and with them constantly updating the Helix, these are possibilities I suppose....far fetched, but still possibilities. :)

    DSP is an issue. It's about time. At least upgrade the dsp. Yamaha is so kind to keep on upgrading the software of the helix. But there's a point where developer can't upgrade/maximize the software using limited hardware capacity. It's like trying to shove 1OTB data into 1MB pendrive...

Newer systems will just add weird and wonderful effects but the overall quality won't really move on much

    Nice sounds but thus u guys seem to be a preordered marketing video. There are so many great things out there and also cheaper. That big bulky box with the integrated wah volume is a no go for many of us. And then? The Stomp LX supposed to b a stand alone simple solution that should work for one man bands and small venues. No it does not work. Because its looper sucks both mechanically and software wise. I wrote about it on that side page of helix, many ppl commented it already. Line 6 does not give a shite for one man band scenarios.

    When the Helix was released the HD500 felt ANCIENT, like it felt like possibly the most outdated product in the entire guitar market. 10 years on, the Helix doesn't feel new, but it doesn't feel old either. It also sounds really good, whereas the HD500, even the X, never sounded very good at all.

    The couldn't get over the learning curve woth the Helix, so I sold it for the Fender TMP, much easier learning curve for a newb in the guitar world... That being said, Helix is still an awesome sounding unit. I don't understand why people hate on one unit to another, all of them have strengths and weaknesses. The fact that we have so many different types of modelers should be an indication that there's the right flavor for everyone. If the Helix is the one for you, right on brother! But if someone else likes the headrush, keeper, TMP better, don't put them down man, we're all here to enjoy music in a while we like to share it and play. All these units are great. No hate to any of them!!!

    Absolutely but! First, you should always invent unless you plan to be trampled over. And let's face it, as time advances, more and more absent features are becoming a handicap compared to the norm that evolved, like the wirelessly connecting with app, more DSP, touch screen, improving form factors and weight, tone matching, and obviously some major cutting-edge things that are essential in order to stay competitive.

  • @RobTackettCovers
    @RobTackettCovers 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I was Line 6, the Helix isn't what I'd really be concentrating on in regard to the "next step", figuratively speaking...I'd be focusing on a next level Variax...If they could make a Variax with a wireless pack...like plug one end into your variax transmitter that you could wear, and the receiver into the Variax port, and really refine the way a variax sounds, like pickup modeling of say Fishman Fluence single coil and humbucker pickups, make the guitar play like an Ibanez AZ...have a 24 and 22 fret version, and maybe even equip it with Fishman Fluence pickups (I don't work for Fishman...guess I should put that in here...haha!), make them with roasted maple necks and well dressed stainless steel frets, I don't see why something like that wouldn't take off...and also really focus on their acoustic guitar modeling for the Variax...

  • @riffrockband
    @riffrockband 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm a long-time user of the Helix Floor and HX Stomp XL. I'll buy the next version of the Helix Floor when it comes out. Line 6 has to keep the next version within the Helix universe. There are too many customers with years of time invested in the presets. They need to add DSP and fix the preset leveling problem. Needs to have some built in system to balance volume across presets. Also its hard to understand whey they have so many terrible stock presets when there are so many good customized ones on the market.

    Psychologists need to ask guitarists why they have this obsession of constantly moving on?
    They love one of their guitars and they love the amp or digital box they're gigging with but every couple of months they get bored with themselves and so the moving on syndrome begins.
    Or people at their gigs have been telling them they sound fantastic, awesome tone, then one night some guy tells them your tone sounds very thin, what you playing through.
    Ooh boy, disaster, time to sell my Helix, or my Kemper, or my ToneX and buy the all new digital box that makes a 3.7% more accurate Capture or Profile than what I'm currently using.
    Meanwhile every digital box they buy and sell they end up tweaking to sound exactly like they always sound, their tone.
    And you watch their gig and they sound exactly the same as they sounded a week earlier with the previous rig..
    And no, the Strymon Timeline you're now using for delay sounds exactly the same as your digital box delay in the mix through the PA.

    Helix still sounds so good, that even if there was a "Helix 2", it wouldn't make your Helix 1 sound worse? If they keep updating Helix, what's wrong with it? It's DSP, it's programmed modelling, it doesn't become obsolete. The only thing that could happen is eventually models take up so much DSP that the user is limited in choice. This only limits you, doesn't make it sound bad.

    I know when the Helix 2 is coming out!!
    When I finally decide to make the leap and purchase the Helix because I believe all the reports about nothing new coming other than firmware updates... The day after my return period has expired is when the Helix 2 is unveiled and hits the market...

    I bought my HX early 2020, and the deciding factor was that the floor controller for the AE-III was on backorder for weeks. Don't regret the decision one bit.

      Problem with the axiii is the input stage. Hx is way superior and I played both for over a year daily for couple of hours.

    The Helix is the OG modeler and is absolutely still relevant. Line 6 just did it right. It’s built like a tank. It functions and sounds great! HX edit is a breeze to use. And the resources are virtually unlimited. The only platform I would say is truly better is Axe FX and it’s marginal and not worth the extra $$$ if you ask me. Just my humble opinion 😌 I have spoken 😂

    If I buy an IR from you do I have to put an amp before it?

    • @worshiptutorials
      @worshiptutorials  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes - our Cab/Speaker IR"s act as the speaker cabinet portion of the signal chain so you'd traditionally put them after an amp, or you could run some effects in between the amp block and IR block to emulate an amp's effects loop.
      Acoustic IR's are meant to be used without an amp block.

    I remember from watching videos from Sean Haley - when the HD500x was out they were already working on Helix. In was in development for 5 years. So you can bet when they released Helix - they almost immediately started working on their strategic vision for what's next. They've been doing that now for 10 years. What's different than the old platforms is they have now build an entire ecosystem around Helix - so changing that means changing everything. That's probably why it's been this long. Whatever they do changes not just this Helix but everything based around it.
    Line 6 has always led the pack - whatever they do will be cool beyond all imaginable. If nothing else it will inspire changes to everything else.

    2024 - 2016 = 8, not 10. You called the platform 10 years old numerous times. The only real limitation of the Helix right now is that new features are DSP-heavy. Ryan Bruce (Riffs, Beards, and Gear) took his Fractal on tour because it had the DSP to run pitch shifting without eliminating other blocks. The new custom amps with the Boost controls are among the heaviest blocks in the device. So the old stuff doesn't sound any WORSE than it used to, but I'm struggling to rebuild my existing signal chains with the NEW features in them. I'm doing stereo 80s tones, Bradshaw rack-style. I can't use a bunch of the newest features because they're each the heaviest blocks of their type.

    HELIX is nice! Guitar processors can make a big difference in sound depending on the CAB IR you use.
    actually there are many IR products on the market, but I think DYNAX IR has the best sound. As stated in their product description, DYNAX IR is really fast. When using IRs, the pick attack is sometimes delayed, and it is difficult to add picking nuances, but their IR prevents all of that. It's revolutionary!

    Helix is the Apple of modelers. It's interface is easier than most and sounds pretty ok. Fractal Audio FM9 sounds better. Quad Cortex can capture, but they still haven't made good on the original promise of Native interface.
    I play tube amps at home (Marshall 30th Anniversary 6100 & Fender Supersonic 60 -- both modded). I have 2ct PRS MT-15s for stereo live where allowed. If I'm direct, I play "amp in a box" pedals (favorites: BE-OD, 9 knob Sweet Tea, Vertex SSS; favorite OD pedals : Tumnus Deluxe, Moonshine V2, Belle, & Morning Glory V3s).
    My biggest beef with modelers is that they don't keep their value and to play live, you better buy 2.

    Here's a free one for Line 6 (and maybe someone has done this with some goofy hardware stuck to the guitar but still)... guitar modeling. Sort of like the capture process for an amp, have some sort of calibration process where a unit captures the sound of the guitar, and then does the math on the signal to process it into sounding like some other guitar. Let me get some strat neck pickup sounds, then hit a preset and I'm a hollowbody bridge filtertron.

    I don't see them moving away from HX modelling and platform. It is very good, a "next gen" isn't needed. Are other things better? We can argue till the cows come home and it is pointless, all latest gen modelling sounds great these days. What you can't deny is L6 has the biggest market penetration. Their platform approach is unmatched by anyone else in the industry. Knowing that what I wouldn't be surprised to see is new flagship performance unit with just a UI and form factor refresh, and perhaps L6's own take on capture/matching tech. Everything else still the same HX we have today. Still maintaining compatibility across their existing line, continuing to evolve it. So not really Helix 2, but just a new member of the platform with maybe some special tricks.

  • @MrVyrtuoso
    @MrVyrtuoso 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah, it's basically the software that drives the platform. I would like a hardware upgrade with more powerful DSPs, better converters, expanded or more flexible I/O and routing options, but I like the software as it is and L6's record of being able to release updates with newer models of vastly improved tech shows that what's needed isn't really a new platform but improved modelling details. Folks are waiting for the Helix 2 when we've been on Helix 3.71. What I'd like if anything is a robust software that can run in stand-alone mode as well as plug-in on whatever system, Mac, Win, Linux, iOS, Android, Chromebook. I'd rather that the next evolution of my rig would have me ditch a hardware floor or rack unit and run the next generation platform app on an iPad or laptop driven by an integrated audio interface/MIDI controller. I've used BFX2 Mobile and the XTone Pro to great success. I'd just rather use Helix sounds than BFX2.
