I bought mine about a year and a half ago and I would buy it again today.
I waited for so long because I had an HD500X that had just as much staying power as any.
The decision point was when Line6 started reducing HD series support for the Helix. So I would say that is my jumping off point, when Line6 stops supporting the Helix, then I’ll start worrying.

When something it updated able and powerful enough it will last. Even if a new one comes out support will continue I am sure.

I love the Helix floor for a solo musician. With the ability to have a microphone for vocals and a separate line for the guitar.....it is incredibly versatile.
I really wish they would add an acoustic amp model and the biggest wish would be some vocal effects like what TC Helicon does where the harmonizer will autodetect your guitar key and adjust the harmonizer to that. Be great to have a double vocal effect as well.
I absolutely love my Helix and with them constantly updating the Helix, these are possibilities I suppose....far fetched, but still possibilities. :)

    Helix wishlist:
-native Dante support (or a card option) that supports LCR wet/dry out
    -more DSP
    -more snapshots per preset
-variable rate tremolo (like that one pedal Brad has)
-better signal-chain visuals, especially for amps and cabs
-photos of the amps being played
-fixing that knob to the right of the screen with push to select
-WT amp captures included out the box

It's one of those bits of kit that will always sound great you could play it in 50 years and it'll still stack up because our ears don't change and it's already spot on so there isn't really much more a multi effects can give quality wise. Newer systems will just add weird and wonderful effects but the overall quality won't really move on much

Here's my take coming from a guy - I am a working musician - that had a rack with the ART SGX products and used the eleven Rack as well - both great products - and I still own my old 11R.
But - if you use these machines for the presets only - you will never get what you want out of them and will re-up when something gets released with more cool sounding presets.
I never used the factory presets - in my opinion those are there to show you what the unit can do - demo packs so to speak.
Set these up like a physical guitar rig - input side stuff - amp/speaker/mics - then the output sounds. It simply sounds better this way in my opinion.
The sounds that the Helix is able to produce are awesome - amps and cabs are very workable - and tonal variety is there - more than I need.
Just because a new shiny bobble comes out - you don't have to be the one who must run after it every time.
I didn't purchase a Helix right away - I wanted to see if it was going to be stable over time - and if the support would continue to push the boundaries of the sounds offered with each update.
So far I believe that Line 6 - even though they are owned by Yamaha now - are still doing a good job in keeping the Helix relevant.

The couldn't get over the learning curve woth the Helix, so I sold it for the Fender TMP, much easier learning curve for a newb in the guitar world... That being said, Helix is still an awesome sounding unit. I don't understand why people hate on one unit to another, all of them have strengths and weaknesses. The fact that we have so many different types of modelers should be an indication that there's the right flavor for everyone. If the Helix is the one for you, right on brother! But if someone else likes the headrush, keeper, TMP better, don't put them down man, we're all here to enjoy music in a while we like to share it and play. All these units are great. Sold everything and moved to other gear. I did eventually watch the Helix expecting to see the same old same old! But, they seemed to have changed, they are still updating it and a year ago I relented and bought the Helix floor and I love it! The IR development coming out for the Helix is insane. I joined Helix clan in spring of 2023 and have been in love since- creating my own versatile presets and purchasing others. The IRs you can purchase push the sonic limits of the Helix and truly give you tones that 99% of people could not differentiate from the “real rig”.. e.g. a gentleman named Jon Kaneshiro on this platform just put out a “where the light is” helix preset with IRs a month ago and it sounds , to the common ear, exactly like a John Mayer 50,000$+ set up. The Helix has allowed low to middle class guitar players sound like high end high income players and it’s truly an equalizer for us non studio, non professional musicians that’s want those tones so desperately and can’t afford them. Thank you to you guys too for your amazing tones. I always love whipping out the Hillsong patch every now and then when I need the sanctuary to sound like an aquarium !

I like digital but also dont like having to tweak and tweak and tweak. I feel like getting a solid tone in the Helix is pretty easy to do and to do quickly.

Honestly, Line 6 doesn't give you guys enough kudos, and maybe the worship community is small, but you guys have single-handedly extended the life of the Helix with your ToneMatch stuff! The 3.5 cab engine is great and all, but nothing touches the new TM2 patches. The new Benson Chimera update? INCREDIBLE! Improved my already favorite preset.

IMHO the selling point of the helix was the functionality; yes it has great amp and effects modeling, but I think the fact that it can integrate similarly to how a G System could is what sold me on it. Even without amp modeling, and maybe even drives, the fact is that you can still loop other effects in and control them with both preset and individual functions, and along with having it do things like switch amp channels, still makes it’s really competitive IMHO.

I remember from watching videos from Sean Haley - when the HD500x was out they were already working on Helix. In was in development for 5 years. So you can bet when they released Helix - they almost immediately started working on their strategic vision for what's next. They've been doing that now for 10 years. What's different than the old platforms is they have now build an entire ecosystem around Helix - so changing that means changing everything. That's probably why it's been this long. Whatever they do changes not just this Helix but everything based around it.
Line 6 has always led the pack - whatever they do will be cool beyond all imaginable. If nothing else it will inspire changes to everything else.

I don’t have the budget for the Helix. Is the PodGo still a decent option for worship? I’ve been using the Bean and I find its interface clunky and a lot of the sounds difficult to adjust. (I can’t seem to get a smooth but strong clean worship guitar. All the distortion sounds are just “screamo death”, which works for some songs but not all.)
Should I spend my money on the Go? Do y’all make patches for the Go? What I’m asking is “is the PodGo still relevant in 2024?”

    • @worshiptutorials
      @worshiptutorials  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes - our Cab/Speaker IR"s act as the speaker cabinet portion of the signal chain so you'd traditionally put them after an amp, or you could run some effects in between the amp block and IR block to emulate an amp's effects loop.
Acoustic IR's are meant to be used without an amp block.

HELIX is nice! Guitar processors can make a big difference in sound depending on the CAB IR you use.
actually there are many IR products on the market, but I think DYNAX IR has the best sound. As stated in their product description, DYNAX IR is really fast. When using IRs, the pick attack is sometimes delayed, and it is difficult to add picking nuances, but their IR prevents all of that. It's revolutionary!

Helix still sounds so good, that even if there was a "Helix 2", it wouldn't make your Helix 1 sound worse? If they keep updating Helix, what's wrong with it? It's DSP, it's programmed modelling, it doesn't become obsolete. The only thing that could happen is eventually models take up so much DSP that the user is limited in choice. This only limits you, doesn't make it sound bad.

People seem to love it for effects, complex routing, and a great editor. For these things, the Helix is still a good choice, unless space is an issue. What might make a great combo is the Helix or even the LT with a Kemper Player or Tonex in an audio loop. That saves DSP to where you might opt to use the Helix with the spillover between presets, as DSP wouldn't be needed for amps and cabs.

Maybe there’s a massive update coming?👀what I would love to see is them add the “flux” or a ramping function and the possibility of separating the “press” and the “hold” functions on footswitches so one footswitch can control multiple things but separately.
Ever since y’all’s interview with them, I have really messed around with using their own amp models in front of the tone matched/XR IRs and let me tell you, they sound fantastic. Their amps sound so good in comparison to some of the original models.

The Helix is, without doubt, the most feature filled guitar product that I've even owned. It's a design masterclass at doing something that will last this length of time. I've never got on with the amp models as I find them a bit lifeless compared to Fractal and Kemper, but I always choose the Helix for (exactly as you say) usability. But the latest update from Line6 really made the amps sound better. As of now, I've not used the Fractal for quite some time, I've used the Kemper Stage quite a bit for simplicity but the restrictions drive me nuts, but now I'm using the Helix alot more with external amp channel switching and external drive pedals and it's own effects (if somebody could make the synths better I'd thank you for it!). It's just one cracking piece of kit that's survived much beer spiilage from the punters.

Once good tone, always good tone.
My prediction for the “Next Gen” Helix is that the main new feature will be capture technology. It’ll cost a few $$ more than the current Helix Floor, but I believe the current Gen stuff will remain as is and continue to receive meaningful updates.

Absolutely but! First, you should always invent unless you plan to be trampled over. And let's face it, as time advances, more and more absent features are becoming a handicap compared to the norm that evolved, like the wirelessly connecting with app, more DSP, touch screen, improving form factors and weight, tone matching, and obviously some major cutting-edge things that are essential in order to stay competitive.

Here's a free one for Line 6 (and maybe someone has done this with some goofy hardware stuck to the guitar but still)... guitar modeling. Sort of like the capture process for an amp, have some sort of calibration process where a unit captures the sound of the guitar, and then does the math on the signal to process it into sounding like some other guitar. Let me get some strat neck pickup sounds, then hit a preset and I'm a hollowbody bridge filtertron.
