KFP2 was the pinnacle of the series. The heavy trauma themes and swelling triumphs brought tears to my eyes. KFP4 treats the series like a big, fat joke.
It felt more like a movie from "legends of epicness" animated series. But I really loved humor and while its far from what many wishes for if so many people didn't like this then I know that fanfic writers will make something good with it. I mean heck I was at this movie just yesterday and had fun, but when I started to read comments I started to understand why it felt unfinished. There was so much potential characters arcs. Zhen, Han and Chameleon being darker pararels to Po's life. Po's father facing Shen the killer of his wife and his people. It had Such a potential and they dumbed down main villain reason to "im to small" while people like Viper and Mantis exist. The reason why kung fu panda has so many memeorable villains is becouse they felt like part of Po journey. Obstacles that once conquered became the path. Chameleon felt like and AI written villain.
I always thought KP2 was the peak of the franchise but I've warmed up to KP3 as time went on. Although i still can't forgive it for being so unserious and for not giving us Po/Tigress romance that was always meant to be😞😞

The same case as The Force Awakens after many years since the last Star Wars movie (hence KFP4 earnings are pretty good) To me, this movie was a "Nothing Burger". You can enjoy this "Nothing Burger" it has the meat done well, ingredients etc but it's just painfully average. You wouldn't visit the restaurant serving those again probably and you'd go back to the place where you can be impressed by the burgers' taste every time(KFP1, KFP2, and even KFP3). The Kung Fu Panda franchise is expected to be more than just an average, over-comedic movie for kids. Many kids who watched KFP1 grew up and as a mature audience they want sophisticated, deep stories with some laughs here and there (like KFP2). Saying animation is just for kids is an insult to the animation media itself and KFP in this case.

From my opinion, the situation is like The Last of us part 2, it's a good standalone and enjoyable game but when it's part of a series it's story is really weak and disrespected the whole point of the previous game and a favourite character of many. The issue is that people waited years for this movie, kids who were with the franchise became adults now and understand the story of the previous movies a lot better and wanted to see more, then they find out that the new movie just spits at all previous movies of the franchise, they'd feel terrible but the kids today would enjoy it. Never mind that Rotten Tomatoes scores don't mean jack since 1) A 5 is rated the same as a 1 and a 6 the same as a 10, meaning a very "okay" movie will be rated as a must see, while a highly polarizing movie will be rated as mediocre. 2) RT has been known to completely freeze a score if they decide to. Hence why a film's score won't move from 1k reviews to 50k reviews.

It's an avarage movie, but a sequel should be a continuation of it's previous entries while keeping what made them good alive. KFP4 dosen't do that at all.

I didn’t have high expectations going into Kung Fu Panda 4 because it’s Kung Fu Panda 4. Usually 4th movies are not that good. It’s because usually the first 3 movies are planned but, the 4th gets planned after the first 3 gets planned. Kung Fu Panda 1,2 and 3 feel like one chapter. It feels like one big chapter and Kung Fu Panda 4 feels like another chapter. It feels like a separate chapter and that is usually how 4th movies feel like.

I saw the movie yesterday and, honestly, I can't see where the hate came from. It was far from perfect, sure, but it was, at least to me, just as funny and profound as the others in the trilogy.

It's an avarage movie, but a sequel should be a continuation of it's previous entries while keeping what made them good alive.

Its true its just an average movie but it was really good
The previous KFP trilogy just set the bar really high, same thing with Toy Story 4 just wasn't needed, it didn't add to anything in terms of character development
I didn’t have high expectations going into Kung Fu Panda 4 because it’s Kung Fu Panda 4. Usually 4th movies are not that good. It’s because usually the first 3 movies are planned but, the 4th gets planned after the first 3 gets planned. Kung Fu Panda 1,2 and 3 feel like one chapter. It feels like one big chapter and Kung Fu Panda 4 feels like another chapter. It feels like a separate chapter and that is usually how 4th movies feel like.

Kung Fu Panda trilogy is my favourite ever, I'm afraid of watching 4 cus don't want to ruin it
I saw the movie yesterday and, honestly, I can't see where the hate came from. It was far from perfect, sure, but it was, at least to me, just as funny and profound as the others in the trilogy.
