Hey Bill, wondered how your cam is working for you ? I'm not that tech savvy however the video doesn't look ( too ) overwhelming. I'm on a budget but really need the peace of mind when I'm away. There's two things that really concern me 1# I hear when depending on wifi ( there's that chance hackers could break in ) and 2# And this does happen from time to time where I totally loose my signal on my laptop AND iphone. It's a little creepy. I have to shut off my iphone for about five minutes then turn it back on then I'm connected again ( weird ). Concerned these two issues maybe problematic. Look forward to hearing back, thx in advance.

Hi can not get my scout out on line what am i doing wrong
Thanks again! I used your video to help me set up my similar spy cam. I was able to set the date and time and record a couple of footages. Only drawback, although it's says 1080 HD, the playback is like 460 and there is no code to change the imange. The next one will be like yours or one that I can monitor through my cell phone. Thank you for making this easy to understand for us new learners. The pros can be insensitive to us. We appreciate you. 💕👥
So glad to have helped. You definitely bought a clone from another seller if your video is 460p! Ours at WATADEEEL are 1080p, and you can also select 720p or 360p if you like. So all resolutions are available just by changing a single number in the text file.

Could you provide some information about how the motion detection recording works? Does recording begin immediately if a change is detected? Is there a sensitivity setting for the changes that trigger recording? How long does recording continue after image changes stop?

The only drivers you need are the ones installed on your specific PC. Check your computer's USB ports in Device Manager. Do you see any errors when you plug it in? Do a Windows Update to ensure all drivers are current.

I have 2 of them that someone else set up for me and they quit working. I had a small business we upgraded pc's often and I lost a lot of security camera stuff and cant find it anywhere. I will try some of this to recover it. I loved them, we caught family members stealing cash and pain meds. Wife spilled the beans so I quit using them but its time to start use them again things are starting to walk away again.

How do I trouble shoot if its not being recognized by my computer. I checked usb and that's not it. When I plug it in, it reads with the blue light, and then starts a continuous red blinking light. Any thoughts? Bad camera? Thanks, anything helps.

The camera will record a 3 minute video when motion is triggered. Then if it detects motion again, another 3 minute video.

Yes you can plug it into your PC and just copy all the files to your PC and clear the memory up on your ScoutOuts for re-use.

Hi I got mine from an ad on Facebook and ordered two. I had trouble with the first one after I did the date and time. I put it back to my computer to check the recordings, and it said, the SD card was unreadable and corrupted. I must have screwed up somehow. I tried my second one with your video instructions, and I did much better but it still later showed "unreadable" but it didnt say corrupted on the computer. This computer is old and was specifically donated for my son to do schoolwork. Is it the computer that just won't read it?

For a 5x40 monocular scope? I am not sure if the UX-9 procedure would work, but it sure won't hurt it.

How long does it take till it stops recording ?
Everytime it's plugged in is there a light that flashes.If it does that's not good.
Is it correct to believe that by lowering the resolution of the taken footage, I'd be able to get a longer duration of video before it deleted files to make room?
Yes that is correct, if you lower the resolution, the internal memory will be able to hold more total hours of video footage.
I bought a UX-7 camera and it worked for about 2 months, now it connects and disconnects every 10 seconds. I can't us view the files because it won't mount properly on Windows of Mac. I thought there was a one year warranty. Please tell me how to contact the company. Thank you for the clear, easy to understand video. I learned several things.
If you purchased from WATADEEEL on eBay or from watadeeel.com/product-category/usb-cameras, you are in luck. On the other hand, If you purchased from another vendor, then there is nothing I can do. I do not have any purchase records at all over the last year for anyone with last name of Perkins, unfortunately. Please contact whoever sold it to you, as it is probably not even a real Scout product.

Really interested in buying this item ( I've been in the market for quite a while ) however how do you prove to your landlord ( or worse case scenario, if you had to in court ) the date / time stamp when someone unauthorized has let themselves into your apartment ? I would have to set the date stamp after reviewing the footage ? How can I prove I didn't just make up the date stamp ? Anybody know ? I think this is a great investment. Awesome video, I appreciate how cut and dry the demo was only hoping when I do have it it'll be that easy.
When you first get the device, set the time and date using the text file. Easy. Now the timestamp matches the exact time. You aren't going to have to "prove" a timestamp, necessarily. Unless it is a murder investigation or something. One thing I recommend is, before you remove the Scout from the outlet, before the recording stops, simply pull out your cell phone and hold it in front of the Scout, so the Scout records the exact time on your cell phone. Then go ahead an unplug the scout. Now you have a video clip showing the time from your cell phone, which can be compared to the timestamp on the Scout's video. It might be off my a minute or two, but even if it is off by an hour or two, all you would have to do is some simple subtraction to determine what the exact time was during the event you recorded. This is all easy stuff. The camera would work great for you I think.
in the tag file A1 isn't there? I want to change it to B1 but if it's not there can I still add it to format it?
Okay, if your tag file does not show a A1, then you purchased a clone item from another seller. You do not have a genuine Scout USB Cam from WATADEEEL. I doubt you will be able to get it to work like our units at all. Sorry about that Jay.

Hi there! All units are military time. Yes my friend you have to use military time to set yours. So if it is 4:15pm, set it to 16:15:00. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Yes the units do blink to show you what they are doing. However, once you get used to how they work and what they are doing, you can make them super stealthy by making the LED stop blinking completely! You can simply delete the files to make room. However, Formatting clears everything off, and it is faster than deleting them.

seems as though mine is rewriting all previous videos. is that possible? i end up with just the last video recorded. when i purchased in initially, i had sever videos. now just the last. any advice?

I checked purchase records over the last 2 1/2 years, and I have zero orders of anything from us under the name "John Edwards". The market is flooded with cheap knock-off clones right now. Every seller is calling their unit a UX-? Scout. The problem is, only our factory produces the original UX Scout line of USB cameras. So if you see a UX-whatever for sale somewhere for really cheap, and the seller is not from watadeeel.com, or from watadeeel on eBay, then you are buy a unit from a company who is naming their USB camera after the immensely popular and genuine UX-? Scout line of products. The problem you are describing, with the unit erasing files, that definitely does not sound like one of our genuine articles. On the other hand, if you did purchase from us, you are very smart and very lucky, because I will replace your unit immediately. Just contact me through eBay or through our website and I will initiate a replacement for you immediately!

I would not recommend formatting with a Mac, as it may change the structure of the memory and make it unreadable to itself (if it does this, simply plug it into a PC and re-format back to original with a PC)

Good morning, so I purchased a camera and it came in already and it’s working pretty well. I have one question though: I realize that when you plug it into the computer it resets to default (time and mode for me), are the changes still in effect or do I have to reset them every time I upload videos?
Somebody didn't watch the above video! That's okay, I hate watching long videos myself sometimes. The short answer is: Yes the timestamp is supposed to revert back to default. However, no you do not have to set the date and time each time you plug it in. Please watch the video for a complete explanation.
watadeeel I actually did watch the video haha and when I record, the timestamp remains the same. However, when I unplug it and plug it back into an outlet, it does not remain in motion detection mode. Do I have to change THAT once I unplug it? Is this normal?
The timestamp stays current, but I think the motion detection needs to be activated each time, yes.
The file in my model is named "SETTIME". Does it mean mine has no motion detector? Thanks!
If you purchased your spy camera from us, it does have motion detection.

The timestamp is a permanent feature of this surveillance device, and cannot be removed.

Okay if you have a problem with your USB camera, the next thing I have to ask is: Did you purchase from us at watadeeelcorp.com or did you buy an "inexpensive" version from another seller? The clones have saturated the market, so there are many identical looking units being sold online with all kinds of problems.
How do I get the box to come up to select the video player to use?
Right click on one of the video files in Windows. Then in the popup menu, look for the "Open With" selection. Hover on that to get the next menu to come up. From there you can look for the "Always Open With" selection. Then pick which media player you want to use as default.
Can I do all of the things on this video using my iPad instead? Meanwhile, I will check the thread for an answer, but my Mom’s computer (which is a Mac) is on the fritz, so I can’t use that.
On the fence between the ux-9 or 10. Can you answer a few questions. Watched the ux-10 demo and saw you plugging the 10sd card into the computer to get wifi info programmed into it. If I was somewhere other than home and wasn't able to connect the sd card to a computer to get the wifi name and password programmed there, can the ux-10 still be used? Would I not be able to see the image the camera is seeing and control the settings from my phone if unable to connect the sd card to a computer while not home using foreign wifi like at a hotel for example?
If you do not have access to the wifi name and password, then you cannot use that wifi signal for anything at all, including the UX-10. So, if you want to install the UX-10 at, say, a stranger's home, and you don't know the stranger's wifi password, then you would not be able to use their wifi access point to transmit the video all the way back to your location across the country. However, the UX-10 can alternatively create it's own WiFi hotspot, and can transmit it's video signal straight to your cell phone, but range is limited to typical hotspot range of maybe 30 meters or so. So if you were at said stranger's house, and plugged the unit in, you could watch live video from the unit, but only if you were within 30 meters of the device.
Okay so if in a foreign area without wifi passwords, if my phone is close enough I can still use it to control/record with the camera from the cams own wifi?

When it's on loop recording do the LED lights flash ?
This item will NEVER flash it's LEDs while recording. It blinks a couple times when you start recording, but then while recording all LEDs stay off permanently.
Can this connect to an iPhone if you have a usb to lightning adapter?
Yes that might work. It really depends on the device and it's capabilities.
I'm wondering if editing the Tag.txt file by adding .LOG to the beginning of it (above the date and time) and saving it will assure that the date and time remain current. I've used this method for many years and by adding the .LOG to the file, it forces the text file to automatically update the date and time each time the file is accessed. However, the format that this text file uses is: 7:21 AM 12/14/2017 which might not be compatible with the device's internal file system. If you have time, please try this and let me know the results. Many thanks!
There is absolutely no reason to do this. Once you set the time and date the first time, the device remembers it, so each time you plug it in the time and date will be correct. The Tag.txt file will ALWAYS revert back to the original string, showing an incorrect time and date, but the device itself will be accurate.
The outlet I want to use is controlled by a switch and is turned off and on periodically. What happens to the video if the switch is turned off and on throughout the day? Thank you for your time.
If the unit is plugged into a switched outlet, and someone comes by and turns the wall switch off, the unit will stop recording and power down. When the switch is turned on, the unit will power up and begin recording again automatically.
Blue light means your camera is set to motion detection.
Is it possible to delete the motion and do continuous recording?
Yes. Watch the video from 8:31 please to see how to change the device to A=Continuous Recording Mode, or B=Motion Detect Mode.
How do I adjust the time and date
There is a file on the USB cameras memory called time.txt or settime.txt. Open that up, edit it to reflect the correct time and date, save the file, unplug it from your computer and plug it into an outlet to start recording. Changes get set as soon as you plug it into an outlet.
A silly question but for it to work do u have to plug it to the wall socket (power point), or can it still record if it was laying on a table or bench top without it being plugged in?

No you have to have it plugged in for it to record. But this is desirable, as you can leave it recording for months on end, and only stop recording when something bad happens, and you will have the evidence of it.

How can I get this Device
Mostly people put camera to protect the love ones from criminals. And to catch criminals. But mostly they using for fun, watching women, teen-ager, children in the shower or while innocent people naked somewhere. I watched some good people wanted to change in this world to be better world. Restoration or something good for the future next generation. So make sure you must vote for that willing to o safe young generation.
If I left it on loop for when I go out of town how long will it record ? Does it record like 10 hours of footage or ? I realize it will overwrite the oldest file I'm just curious if I plug it in on Friday and come back Sunday night if I can see what happened Saturday
If you put it on A3 mode, then you will get around 18 hours of footage recorded. However, if you want to record all weekend and not miss important events, simply put it on motion mode, like B3, or B2, or B1

I am interested in purchasing the UX-10 Wifi Scout, however, I'm hoping if someone could help me with my enquiry regarding the set-up of the live feed camera to my mobile. I am currently living in South Africa, however I have a business in London that I would like to monitor via the Scout Out device. My question is if I order the Scout Out to be sent to my South African address and I do the set-up via my South Africa router to get the 'camera' live-streaming to my mobile, if the Scout Out is then sent to my UK office and a staff member plugs it into the wall plug will the image immediately appear on my mobile in South Africa?
I understand that I will obviously not have access to the Micro SD Card that will be plugged into the device for recordings, but will I at least have live-stream video from the camera to my mobile in South Africa?
How “stealthy” is a flashing blue record light?
Olsen, the blue LED only flashes 3 times before going out, and it stays out while the unit is recording. You can also eliminate the LED altogether as follows: Once you have tested your item and become familiar with it, simply remove the front face, place a tiny piece of black electrical tape over the blue LED, then stick the front face back on. Now your camera will no longer show the status LED. Why does it have a status LED in the first place? I have been in this business 17 years. Believe me, if it didn't have a status LED to tell you what it was doing, people would be screaming and complaining about that constantly "This is stupid, I have no idea if this thing is recording or not. How do i know if it is recording or not? I want a refund. So stupid..."
Great video. I have a problem with mine, that maybe you can help me out with. I see you have tested a bunch. By any chance have you encountered once becoming corrupted? Mine went from working fine, to I plugged it in one day and my PC no longer recognizes it as a external storage device. Instead I found it in my device manager and it is under imaging devices and called " GENERAL - UVC ". I didn't want to mess with it before looking online for any similar problems and just happened to come across your video ( Which was great by the way). If you have any help you can throw my way it would be appreciated though. Thank you.

No I purchased it from some company that apparently magically disappeared. I was just curious if there was a site or something that I can go to, download something or a new OS and just patch it over ... or something.

Yes it does loop automatically, so it will erase the oldest 3 minute video to make room for a new one.
can you see the videos on a macbook pro?
Yes.
I’m missing some video on my scout out. For some reason 4 vids are gone. Will the scout out delete in it own?
When the Scout fills up with videos, and there is no more room left on the memory, then it will delete a single video to make room for a new video. It will keep doing this as long as it is plugged in and recording. This is a feature known as "Loop Recording".

Hey I just got one and I checked in my PC and everything looks perfect but when I connect the camera to the outlet, not any led is flashing and not any video is recorded. Please, what should I do? return it? or Does it exist additional configuration? Thanks

Yes my friend I get this all the time. Every time someone has a problem with a unit, they always say they bought another model from a different seller. It sounds like you purchased from a different seller. All of our Scout units have motion detection mode. Next time purchase from WATADEEEL, otherwise, who knows what you are going to get?
watadeeel I bought a ux-9 directly from here, it worked fine about a year. Now it's pitch black, is this common?? What's the main differences in purchasing this vs. the ux-9...??
