Hi! really interesting take. I think it was so hyped for me that I was disappointed. Perhaps if it wasn't I'd have a different view. I appreciate the reality of the movie but also found the second half to be exhausting.
Thank you Lisa. The second half was definitely a noticeable dip from the first it became about finding him instead of unpacking this disaster of a relationship
Just watched this movie last night for the first time it was very good some parts were felt a little too long but it was a decent watch reminded me of the movie uncut gems.
I agree with everything you said. And i like how real the story and the characters felt. the movie didn't even try to imply that Anora and Vanya were in love, or that they had any sort of emotional connection. It was all shallow and materialistic. So We as an audience didn't even care that they didn't actually end up together. Because we didn't expect much from him. He is not portrayed as the bad guy but he is also not the most considerate and thoughtful. I'm just happy that she came out of it mostly unharmed, because as Igor said its a good thing that it ended and that she is not a part of their family.
Thank you! I thought Vanya parents exposed him. They mentioned how he was supposed to be studying but instead he was partying. Even tho they were defending him they know he didn’t deserve it I think his wealth had little to do with who he was as a person I think he’s just so entitled and eventually he will grow up to be cruel to other
@@alwayswatching2295 The way the parents treated Anora is really telling. Because they didn't even try to empathize with her or apologize for their child's behaviour because he is a child. I mean the way the dad started laughing in the plane, shows that all this is just entertainment for them. They don't care about her feelings or see her as someone who deserves an explanation or anything from them. And they don't even care about their son. Its all about status and money. It was never that serious for Vanya or his parents. But Anora had to quit her job and she was naive enough to believe in this fairytale.

Very well said. It’s all entertainment for them. It’s just another story they can laugh about later
