Great content! You come across as very earnest and passionate about film
I appreciate that!
Thank you for sharing your great thoughts on the recommendations for movies for 2025
Of course!!
I’m glad that you like “how to make millions before grandma dies”. Such a beautiful film showing real life Asian family story. This film hits home really hard for me.
It was really well made!
This is a great list!
Thanks!
"How to Make Millions..." is so touching. It can be slow at times, but I'm glad I watched it.
Me too!
Great double list. Saturday Night is one I think is being unfairly omitted.
I agree.... also Lee, with Kate Winslet. I wish more people were talking about that movie.
I think so too, i loved it
Loved hearing your thoughts!
Thank you!
Love the diverse genre of films you chose! Lots of crossover in my own list - I’ll see Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown next week!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great show! Good insights. I'll be watching! Thanks Mike!
Thanks!
I love Challengers the most and that would get my vote. If Anora, The Brutalist, or The Substance wins I won't be mad.
Great picks!
First time that I’ve seen your channel. I’m very impressed by the content and the way that you present it. Keep at it Mike, my judgment is that you will be very successful. I did watch the entire video. Thanks man.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
My favourites this year are Conclave, Anora and Emilia Perez. The Brutalist and The Nickel Boys (great book!), I don’t think have reached the UK yet. I look forward to seeing them. Based upon what I have seen, I think that Conclave will win best film and best actor (and may win best supporting actor), Mikey Madison could well win best actress. Emilia Perez should win best foreign film.
Thanks for sharing!! I agree with you on Emilia Perez!
Same with Emilia Perez!
Great content! Will check some of them out. Loved Conclave.
Awesome, thank you!
Big thanks for the list and keep on going strong!
Thanks, will do!
Bro you should watch "all we imagine us light". From your videos i think i get your movie taste and you will really love this movie
I'll check it out thanks!
@@mikesmoviereviewhow was it ?? What's your rating out of 5
Great list!! A few though I haven't seen my top movie for 2024 was the substance it was such a crazy experience seeing it in a packed and enthusiastic cinema , made it sooo much more enjoyable...the 2 hours plus run time I was glued from the start...I really hope Demi wins a Oscar for it......what's all the fuss about with Anora it's not typically a movie I would watch but I keep hearing so much about it I'm intrigued
Totally agree! And check it out sometime! I think you’d enjoy Anora!
Great review! I'm so thrilled to see vampires return to movies. Lately all we see are zombies and they're so boring. They just shuffle around looking stupid. Vampires, on the other hand, can think and are therefore more interesting and scary.
Great point! Thanks!
I did watch and subscribed to your channel. Obviously, I very much liked your video. I also agreed with every one of your Oscar winning movies.
Thank you so much!
great vid; well done. Yup, you and all the critics have the same correct choices and most think The Brutalist and Brody for best actor (deserving). Please do other Academy awards category guesses; if Wicked gets anything people are guessing Grande for Support. Act. , Set design (they [train, clock, etc.] are all actual not CGI like Avatar), maybe Cinematog., Editing), Make up YES, etc.
Thanks!
Subbed and Liked. Still need to comment. Anora all day long. Mikey Madison was awesome.
Thank you so much! And heck yeah she was great!
Excellent voice, great delivery
Thank you kindly!
I just found. You. I haven’t been to a movie in a theater in a while, mainly because I don’t like marvel, Dc, or Disney! Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll try to check a few out!
Thanks!
For me its THE SUBSTANCE at No.1
Nosferatu Vs. Crimson Peak: Which one did you like better? Both gothic horror. I watched the original Nosferatu and tbh I don't remember much of it.
i haven’t seen crimson peak yet! should i check it out?
Not sure why people say Anora "suprised" them. It's a wild, fun, & great Sean Baker film. That's exactly what I expected.
Fair enough!
@mikesmoviereview Florida Project & Red Rocket are awesome but his most underappreciated is Starlet. Came out in 2012.
Flow. Number 1. A miracle of a movie.
Flow was pretty great!
1. The Brutalist
2. Dune Part Two
3. The Wild Robot
4. Deadpool and Wolverine
5. A Real Pain
6. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
7. Anora
8. Conclave
9. Inside Out 2
10. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
nice picks!
Great choices. The Substance The Strong 2024 Movie.Unique.Demi Moore and Margareth Qualley Wonderful Performaces 👏👏👏👏
Loved it for sure!
Agreed with your top five.
Me again…. I watched all the way through. For 25 years now I have been sending a list called “ANN’S MOVIE PICKS!!” To 150 of my friends with a top ten list and the rest of the movies I liked categorized by genre. You art doing the same thing only on video. Nice going Mike.
I love your list; thank you for sharing.
This is my list (though I still need to see Like a complete unknown):
1.) Horizon: American Saga
2.) White Bird
3.) Bike Riders
4.) My Old Ass
5.) Wicked
6.) Wicked Little Letters
7.) Civil War
8.) The Wild Robot
9.) Sight
10.) Ordinary Angels
Honrable Mentions: It Ends With Us, Joker 2, The Substance, Longlegs, Love Lies Bleeding, Dead Pool & Wolverine
Thanks! Good choices on yours as well!
I have been wanting to watch Juror #2! Great predictions!
Hope you enjoy it!
Hey bud.Im new to your channel.Ill definitely be looking at for more vids from you.
Great job 👏🏻.
Very interesting.Ive yet to see of your top ten films. What did you think about Heretic?
Thank you! I loved Heretic!!
How is dune part 2 not on the list?
😬 couldn’t make it thru, sci-fi isn’t my favorite
@@mikesmoviereview 😁good thing art is subjective
For me The Wild Robot was the best movie of the year. I hope it wins in Oscar. The Brutalist hasn’t come out in theaters near here.
I loved The Wild Robot too!
I watched🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
have you seen all of these movies? Let me know in the comments!
You didn't mention this one but I recently watched The Count of Monte Cristo and it was a brilliant 3-hour romp that never lost pacing. Beautiful cinematography and it told the story of the novel in an easy-to-follow sorta way. It's in my top ten for sure. I believe it's France's official submission for the Best International Film category at the 2025 Oscars. I highly recommend it. Also I'm going to see The Brutalist in 70mm soon just so when I watch the Oscars I can say I watched one of the films nominated 😂
Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown don't come out until Christmas day. I need to see those, The Brutalist and Conclave and I'm watching The Substance the day after Christmas. I liked Challengers, Anora, Sing Sing and Flow.
i see a lot of movies, but there are stil a lot of them that I'm interested in that i haven't yet seen. But I'm surprised that you didn't include THE APPRENTICE. I thought it was terrific and I loved Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn. (Oscars for both of them!) Have you seen ADIOS, BUENOS AIRES? So far that's the best thing I've seen all year, but I don't think it has had a wide release. I also loved FILM GEEK and Woody Allen's COUP DE CHANCE. I was disappointed in THE BRUTALIST and I do not like horror movies at all. QUEER didn't impress me much at first, but it's the one I have thought about the most since seeing it. I'm seeing A COMPLETE UNKNOWN tonight. I liked CONCLAVE, too. I think it's the frontrunner for Best Picture--it has the broadest appeal. ANORA was just too tasteless for me, but I thought it was well done for what it is.
Great insights! I have a screener of the apprentice i still need to watch! other than that i haven’t seen the others you’ve mentioned yet but will be sure to check them out.
Wtf was this movie, i just finished it , omg it is most horrying film for me ever i have watched.
Omg this type fo cinema , filmmaking have never seen in my life, the background music , the brutality, most brutal movie i have ever seen.
This is the most unique film i have ever watched.
A total whole new level of cinema, with a whole deepest meaning ever
10/10 from me
The "Better Man" song actually got disqualified from the Oscars! 😢
what!! that’s sad it was great
@@mikesmoviereview i think the sample/interpolation was too much by their standards for it to be considered "original"
I want to see Longlegs but is it gory?
there are a few scenes of gore!
I didn't saw yet The Brutalist, Nickel Boys, A Complete Unkown, Nosferatu, Wicked, A Real Pain, Sing Sing, September 5 or Better Man, but for me No 1 movie from 2024 is The Wild Robot! How can you not mentioned it here? Longlegs is a poor movie for me, I recommend Alien: Romulus and Heretic for good horror genre.
For me, my top 5 (without a lot of Oscar pretenders) is:
1) The Wild Robot,
2) Anora,
3) Conclave,
4) Heretic,
5) Inside Out 2.
There are 3 overrated movies from 2024 until now: Dune: Part II, Deadpool & Wolverine and Emilia Perez.
I liked all of those movies!
Challengers has such potential and absolutely fell apart. Yes loved soundtrack and cinematography but the story fell apart. Zendaya has absolutely no range and felt only chemistry between the guys. So much potential absolutely squandered.
I can appreciate that
I LOVED HERETIC
So good!
Sean Baker is the genre.
Have you seen Red Rooms? 😊
Yes! Actually just the other day! Very well done!
How is Wicked not on the list?
it’s on my oscar’s list for sure later on in the video
I am still in a quandary about so many people liking the movie "Anora", come on isn't it just a gritty "Pretty Woman," as a matter of fact "Pretty Woman" was supposed to have an ending where she was left behind, but preview audiences didn't like it. Sadly, most of this top ten is just so out of line. In reality, I found the year's best picture to be "Emelia Perez" filled with remarkable performances. As far as "Longlegs" "The Substance" "Challengers" and "Anora" goes, they are on my list of the ten worst of the year. I guess that taste is subjective, but I just don't get it, particularly about "Anora."
to each their own 🤷
You don't even know how to write "Emilia". And bro... Really? Is a Mexican flick directed by a frenchguy that don't know a thing about the country he is talking about. They talk about real cases of people desapearing and the laugh about it (????)
And don't get me started on Selena Gomez speaking spanish because that is uncanny.
Saw Anora twice. Really loved it.
@Bacalao. Sorry, I made a ., but isn't Frenchguy really two words
@@michaeljames52 Yeah, you got me mate. Not my first language. 😔
Juror 2 was not a good movie unfortunately 😢
I enjoyed it!
Heather Graham was great in place of bones no one speak about it
I’ll have to check that out
Anora is overrated.
to each their own, i enjoyed it!
Some of these movies - most - were awful… challengers, really? Conclave is a snoozefest as well, I didn’t like a single one of the films on your list. Substance was ok, but is a complete Julia Ducournau and other French horror film knock offs… please expand your movie IQ!
merry christmas!
How rude! Make your own channel if you can do better....
Come on wicked was shit. Another lip sync movie.
it actually wasn’t lip synced check out the behind the scenes but to each their own! didn’t make my top 10 list but i do think it will be oscar nominated!
Emilia perez is so insulting bro. Cant believe people like it. And the director is french. I reccommend u watch Sujo and then compare it with emilia perez. Emilia its a joke, racist and all that. Sujo is the real deal.
You need to learn to divide your videos into chapters. Otherwise, the vast majority of the people that opened us are not going to hang around. Ask yourself, If a person finds the first or second movie not to their liking, are They supposed to just keep watching for an Indeterminate amount of time to reach the second one? And then have this happened multiple times over ten movies? do better
lol merry christmas
He was doing a countdown. That's the structure. Maybe some time stamps would help, for those who want to ff.
