London is very much the same. I live maybe 15 minutes from central london, and last year on the same day there was a terrorist attack on tower bridge where several people were rammed by a van, and borough market (right next to the bridge) where people ran out of the van and stabbed several people. I was in both of those places taking the exact same route maybe 2 hours before it happened. it's scary stuff, but the resilience i see in london is incredible. i imagine it's the same in NYC, and probably most other cities in the world. peace and love to everyone, may we live in a better world some day.

I remember, last year, when there was a bomb that was detonated in a trash can in Hells Kitchen. There was surveillance footage that looked horrific. But, as someone who works five blocks away from where that happened, it felt very much like something that was significant but needed to be moved past. We heard about it. We took precautionary measures, and then we went about our day. It's not that we're desensitized or that we didn't care about the people who were injured, it's that we know that stopping our daily lives will only feed into the fear and chaos that these acts seek to bring.
lol this is a normal response and almost all modern cities react this way, and there was only one school of thought, nobody knew what happened. Everyone was unsure and unaware of what actually happened and thus it makes perfect sense they went about their lives normally.

I really don't get what the point of this video was. Of course people are going to go about their day. The world as a whole has been desensitized. A friend of mine lived in NYC his whole life (65) years, when 9/11 happened he was napping. He lived in greenwich village. He had a colleague who lived outside the city that would always prank call him about a bombing or terrorist attack. He said that it was a pretty normal thing, his whole life there were very few terrorist attacks so it was always something to joke about. When he woke up that morning he was in shock, but continued to go about his day. Phil was the kind of guy who would still go to work even in a hurricane. (Which he did many times). He always said “the more things change, the more they stay the same” Rest in Pease Phil.
I can't really see it as a good thing when people feel that things like this have just become a normal part of life. It is very different and I'm glad everyone is safe, but I lived in Paris when the attacks took place in 2015, and there was a clear change in demeanor, habits, mood all around the city. When the attacks in Brussels and Nice happened, it did feel like we were a bit desensitized to it, but that felt wrong somehow. That doesn't mean people are not resilient, we did go out the next night to prove terrorism wrong, but "I just got to get to work" makes it seem like business is more important than people... That is just a gross recap of my train of thought, but still.

Casey! Can you please please please do a section on how you organize your footage? Not so much on how to "Edit" rather when you dump all your footage from all your devices. What's next? Do you tag it? Go through and just grab the best and archive the rest? Or what? Do you do that in Final Cut? Or with the original files in Finder? This basic "how to set up my media workspace for creating" would help me a ton! I feel overwhelmed with so much footage. And I'm wanting some structure to start from. I'm sure I'll find my own way eventually. I've googled this question and haven't really found an answer. Also, what are your thoughts one storytelling regarding your "shot list"? Native New Yorker here, I was in the city yesterday trying to find parking for the photo plus expo at the javits center for over an hour. We ended up stuck on a street and there were crossing guards everywhere not allowing us to turn certain ways so we ended up driving from the javits all the way pass grand central terminal just to make a friggin U-turn. We had no clue this had happened! We just thought ugh, everyday screwed up NYC traffic. This is the first Im hearing of the situation. So glad that everyones safe!

They only alert those in an area affected. Why panic the like 15 million people hear a day if it is contained. Do you spend time every day looking for a potential crisis in your state? I lived most of my life in NYC (Brooklyn born!) and if its not this its terrible car accidents, buildings, bridges, even highways collapsing, sink holes, extreme weather, on and on and on. If its family or close friends who are personally affected you run to their aid, if not you say a prayer and get on with your business while still hoping for the best.

A friend of mine lived in NYC his whole life (65) years, when 9/11 happened he was napping. He lived in greenwich village. He had a colleague who lived outside the city that would always prank call him about a bombing or terrorist attack. He said that it was a pretty normal thing, his whole life there were very few terrorist attacks so it was always something to joke about. When he woke up that morning he was in shock, but continued to go about his day. Phil was the kind of guy who would still go to work even in a hurricane. (Which he did many times). He always said “the more things change, the more they stay the same”

I can't really see it as a good thing when people feel that things like this have just become a normal part of life. It is very different and I'm glad everyone is safe, but I lived in Paris when the attacks took place in 2015, and there was a clear change in demeanor, habits, mood all around the city. When the attacks in Brussels and Nice happened, it did feel like we were a bit desensitized to it, but that felt wrong somehow. That doesn't mean people are not resilient, we did go out the next night to prove terrorism wrong, but "I just got to get to work" makes it seem like business is more important than people... That is just a gross recap of my train of thought, but still.

Do you tag it? Go through and just grab the best and archive the rest? Or what? Do you do that in Final Cut? Or with the original files in Finder? This basic "how to set up my media workspace for creating" would help me a ton! I feel overwhelmed with so much footage. And I'm wanting some structure to start from. I'm sure I'll find my own way eventually. I've googled this question and haven't really found an answer. Also, what are your thoughts one storytelling regarding your "shot list"? Do you decide on the story first? Then go get the shot? Or do you just get great shots, and the story reveals itself in Post? Thank you for your inspiration man! Native New Yorker here, I was in the city yesterday trying to find parking for the photo plus expo at the javits center for over an hour. We ended up stuck on a street and there were crossing guards everywhere not allowing us to turn certain ways so we ended up driving from the javits all the way pass grand central terminal just to make a friggin U-turn. We had no clue this had happened! We just thought ugh, everyday screwed up NYC traffic. This is the first Im hearing of the situation. So glad that everyones safe!
