There's so much effort FFG put on this game. Wish the ships were bigger
The ISD is bigger than this Victory class btw and I will be unboxing it on the channel in the future.
Bigger ships = bigger price. The SSD is already £200 or $274 and people complain about that. Both the price and the size (in terms they wish it would be bigger. However a perfect scale one to these ships would be about 3 metres. It has to be commercially viable for customers and FFG. If they make the ships bigger the prices increase which in turn means less customers. Less customers means less sales, so profit margins have to be made higher per unit which creates the need for lower production costs and a decrease in quality.
Then there is the gaming aspect. The ships currently fit well on the 3x3 mat. If they make them bigger then the game becomes unwieldily in size and space available for the average customer. Personally I've never had an issue with the ships size (I'm at peace with how off their sizes are with each other) and think they work well within the confines of a tabletop game and their price range.

In summary, bigger ships would cost more and effect playable games and require a larger investment from newcomers thus making it less accessible for most people.
In terms of your second point you were making, that you wish all the ships were bigger. The scale in Warhammer is all over the place but it is generally in 28mm scale. They made the Warlords the size they are so that they could fit in the game. I've spoken to the designers in person about this. If FFG made some of the ships such as the SSD to scale, comparable to the other ships in the game, then games would be harder to set up and play in typical hobby areas. It is a tabletop game. You can still use a Warlord on tabletop.
In Armada the SSD is longer than the height of a Warlord - 28 inches. The ISD is 8 inches. Real world scale puts the SSD at almost 12 times the size of the ISD so in game if their scale was accurately represented then it would be 95 inches or 2.4 metres. Do you see where I'm going with this? Basically the current Warlord scale is not 3 times larger than a Primaris. It is much more accurately scaled than Armada so has less impact on the game. Nobody wants to play star wars moving a 2.4 metre model around, however for collectors that could be appealing BUT my Lego ISD is over 1 metre an I struggle to find a suitable place for it.
However it would be cool if FFG or Atomic Mass Games made larger collectors editions of these but it would be a completely different game as the rules would have to accommodate the increase in scale.
In summary the scale and price for the current range works. If they decide to build on this then it would require a huge demand from the fanbase for FFG or AMG to even consider spending the money for R&G etc.

I don't play armada. I do have everything for x-wing and legion. Working on collecting everything for 40k but my pocket book is empty. Damn you Games workshop.
