Great, now I no longer feel like the only one hung up on the streaking stage! I’ve gotten the overall base colours to my liking, gotten subtle variations of shading in the panel lines and surfaces of the panels, then I get a few good streaks down but somehow they end up looking “wobbly”. The front and back halves have different points where the panel lines and streaking lines all converge (over the cannon mount for the rear, or over the window and near that cannon mount for the front). You can find these by just using tape along the vertical panel lines of the main hull and following those lines to see where they converge. But despite all the care I take to lay those streaks down, lined up with those same two points, they never seem consistently aligned. Also, I want more colour variation in my streaks, not just dark greys and blacks. I wants some dirt and rust in there and I have a hard time mixing paints without coming on too strong if too dark by the time I spray them on. (Your “bouncing” tip might be part of the solution for me.) This kit’s been out nearly 5 years and hardly anyone posting tutorial videos covers this stage! Thank you! I hope you can record and post the process on the other half of the top bull and especially the underside!
Yeah try not to over think it. The original pretty much just used dark lark for the streaks I believe and the tone variations in the streaks is created by not going so heavy etc. I’ll do another vid I’m sure ;) still gotta add the decals and fine tune the damage etc
Hi John, first of all I wanted to congratulate you on your work, it's incredible!! I wanted to ask your advice......with what color of ArchiveX did you paint the side impacts of the Millennium Falcon? Thank you very much for your attention.
These videos are incredibly helpful, thank you for making them.
Glad to hear it mate! Honestly, makes it worth the effort lol
@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 When you get really close with the airbrush, like on the blast marks, do you drop your air pressure at all?
Just beautiful!! Awesome attention to details.
Thank you so much for the kind words
Looking awesome John. Very much appreciate taking the time out to share your knowledge.
Thank you so much, it’s the comments like this that have made me continue posting the videos ! Thanks
Paint looks mint mate 😉👍
Thank you Tim!
Great work John, makes my old Revell kit look like a toy!! Thanks for sharing. Cheers Bob 👍
Thank you! Yeah these models have come a long way!
Thanks for continuing on with this one John.
Surprisingly not as many washes on the Falcon.
There is some subtle rust and foundation washes but I’ll add those further down the line
Your advice comes at the right time, because I'm also working on the Falcon and I'm attacking the Archive-X painting next week (-;
Great timing! Have fun. Thanks

Hi John may I ask where you got your reference photos from ? Loving the videos thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thank you, the new chronicles books and sculpting a galaxy. The rest are the usual suspects and online ref
We’re you able to get this at retail?
Thanks for Máster class
Thank you 🙏 if its helpful to people I’ll keep doing them :)
Small question about Archive-x paints what is the Thinner dilution rate for a 30ml jar of paint, 50/50 ?
Yeah that sounds about right, all depends. Even different air brushes spray better at different ratios. But the general rule is 50/50 for base coats
@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 Thanks 👍
“DEEE CALS” not DEH CULS…😂
You say Tomato I say Tomato, looking forward to seeing your paint job on this :)
