Dr. Yasir qadhi bless your soul. You are one of the most learned 'ulama and you go as far back as possible in your reasearch. You are deep and logical. Intolerance for alternative views is what is killing our religion. You are a true scholar for bringing out this position.
Shocking for me, who grew up in a family where no man and no woman ever thought that eyebrouws-plucking could exist ,the pressure that a muslim husband can make to ask eyebrowe-plucking of his spouse, instead to respect her physical integrety and also her own ( personal and religious) choice. Islam comes to free women and not to enslave , what a strange custom.
JazakAllah khair, this issue has been on mine and my wife's mind for a while now. Thank you for explaining it in a way that is intellectual and fact-based. It was very eye opening.
My question is if ladies are allowed to do this only for their husbands then they have to stay home all the time or wear niqab that covers the eyebrows; to avoid non-mahram men from seeing it.
The issue of not observing proper hijab comes along with "plucking for husband" permissibility. One could be plucking eyebrows for husband but the beautification is available to be seen for rest of the world as well. :( May ALLAH swt help and guide us all Aameen
I am sorry what is wrong with looking beutiful? You thibk Allah will love you only if you would want to lokk ugly for everyone except your husband? It doesnt make any sense. There is alwqys balance. If you look like a monkey you have to take some hair out to look as a person. Its pure logic. If you want to take out hair to look sexy is different. What i want to say you should look clean and tidy but not vulgar. I mean its logic. Just use it please.
Moreover besides looking tidy for others people also want to look tidy for thrmselves and for Alllah SWT. When i go to pray even i dont wanna look like a mobkey abd if my eyr brows makr me look like that i eill plug them to a reasonavle degree to look clean and tidy. And there is nothing wrong with that! It concerns both men and women!
If it’s not the act (plucking), but the lifestyle associated with the act (prostitution), then wouldn’t single and/or divorced ladies be allowed to pluck as well? Confusing. How is it deception if she’s going to end up plucking anyways after marriage? If we’re allowed to “beautify” ourselves for our guests, couldn’t this be considered the same? Also if we DONT wear niqab are we not allowed to pluck? Sometimes he goes into detail but it always leads me to more questions lol. He should run these by his wife and daughters to figure out the plot holes.
I personally believe that if you do not know how to look good for yourself, you will never know how to look good for someone else. Self care comes from self love which is essential.
I was wondering about this too. If single woman does not need to beautify herself, just so she is not deceiving a man and he accepts her as she is, then why does she need to beautify herself after marriage for him? He shouldn't have an issue with her bushy eyebrows after marriage too. She should carrying on being how she is and whatever she feels comfortable with.

Sh YQ pointed out that there were classical early imams who of the Sunnah who looked at the objective of the hadith. Having researched on this matter myself, I would not say there is an ijmaa on this issue. Many contemporary scholars allow married women to shape their eyebrows for their husband to a certain extent with certain conditions.
For academic integrity, you should indicate whether this narration from Aa'ishah (radiyallaahu anhaa) is authentic or not Shaykh especially as you studied hadeeth sciences and people are getting the impression it is strong enough to counter or restrict the prophetic hadeeth. Aboo Is'haaq's wife, the narrator from Aa'ishah is classed as unknown and the other route has break between the narrator and Aa'ishah. On top of that, the narration mentions forehead or parts of it and does not explicit mention the eyebrows. As usual, Shaykh na, Yasir Qadhi, has brought scholarly research to bear on a subject that would otherwise have been taken at its literal meaning perhaps by all who do not have the benefit of the information the Shaykh has brought forth. But here’s, for me, the other interesting thing about Shaykh Yasir Qadhi’s Fatwahs: he may side with a particular opinion where there are different opinions on an issue, but he doesn’t condemn the other opinions provided they are also based on some valid arguments. He would just lay it all out for you. And he would show clearly why he sides with a particular opinion. Shaykh YQ doesn’t just give fatwas, he also encourages research and teaches critical thinking within the confines of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, which is important in all aspects of living. May Allah SWA Continue to Help him purify his intention, increase him in beneficial knowledge, preserve him in good health so the Ummah may continue to benefit from his noble works, protect him and his family in this difficult world we are living in, and Grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus and unite us all therein, ameen thumma ameen.
As a layperson, I will neither allow nor disallow something just because a scholar did. I'd only do so if I understood the scholar's reasoning behind their fatwa and agreed with it. For instance, I do not understand the rationale behind allowing women to pluck their eyebrows "if their husband agrees", because this is not based on any evidence from the Qur'an or hadiths. I'm saying this as a woman.
@@RandPersonn I don't care about women not having that 'right' because I see it as a hindrance rather than a help to marry a Christian or Jewish person. There are many Christians who convert to Islam but don't change their name. I think that's not a good argument.

Jazak Allah khairun Shiekh for discussing this topic. This Hadith has quite often caused me anxiety. Many times, I have pondered on the similar questions as the scholars who hold the second opinion. Therefore, your video makes a great sense.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته، Thank you for this video. I’ve always wondered why certain points of this Hadith were not discussed properly before. Turns out, they were, they just don’t tell us. It’s irritating that when you look for a fatwa on this issue, all you get is that the majority opinion is that it is completely haram, but some scholars allowed it for the married woman, which turns out to not even be the proper truth, but a twisted one. This lecture answers many questions, however, not all of them. I’ve always wondered about the curse not fitting the action (which was discussed) and found the Hadith strange, in that regard, especially that it only talks about women, not men, when the prohibition applies for both. The conclusion that I reached was that the Prophet pbuh must have meant a certain type of women that lived back then and did these things, which this too was answered in this lecture. But... what about the “changing God’s creation” part? Scholars understand the Hadith in the sense that plucking the eyebrows is of the changing of the creation of God and therefore who does that is cursed. As was discussed that does not make sense and the curse is on the “fajirat” and not the action itself, but that actually does not explain the part of changing God’s creation. The Hadith seems to imply that the reason for the curse is trying to change God’s creation, which, yes it applies to the tattoo (and even that not necessarily), but does not apply to the eyebrows, if it did, then anything of many things mentioned in the lecture of a hairstyle or makeup or even piercing the ears would be haram. Scholars understand that doing these things is of changing God’s creation and therefore haram, but you can also understand it in the sense that those who do it with the intention of changing Allah’s creation are cursed. And to be completely honest, I don’t even see the explanation that it is haram for the single lady because she could deceive a suitor to be really plausible, especially in our days where it has become a normal thing and almost everybody does it. Because.. it would be one of 2 cases, either the brows would be perfectly and obviously defined that nobody would even think that they’re natural, or the woman could only remove a couple hairs just to make her brows look a little bit nicer, in which case there is room for deception, but her brows are going to look similar to their original shape anyway and aren’t really going to make her look different, in that case as well, you could say that removing a few hairs is worse than removing many hairs and that doesn’t make sense either, not to mention that in both cases, the woman does not have to deceive anybody and can tell the man, be warned, this is not what my natural eyebrows look like. Besides, a single woman would want to beautify herself for herself and her family members as well, it doesn’t have to be for other men. Just wanted to add my own thoughts to this platform. I think this issue is going to continue to be a matter of confusion. 😅
i feel the same... im single and my eyebrows are broad and sparse. its very not good looking. i go back and forth between plucking just a little and growing full. i have no idea what to do. i keep making dua for hidaayaat. my point is that we are allowed to correct deformities. my eyebrows are definitely not normal looking. but i still dont know. i fear the curse of Allaah.
Ameen. Were you able to find an answer to this question or has still remained a confusion? I ask because I am going through something similar. One issue I had is I am a male, and although this hadith refers to females, I’ve heard the same thing applied to male as forbidding to pluck their eyebrows. However, I am not sure what is permissible for the man in this field. I wish this was addressed in the video. I also have many unanswered questions
if u want a wife that dosen’t do her eyebrows marry someone with eyebrows like that don’t marry a young lady than force her to change her ways for the ones that want to be ultra conservative

I don't understand why this is even a debate. When Aisha (r.) allowed it, finish - end of debate. She is the wife of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and our mother. Who better to understand the words of the Messenger of Allah ?
But you forgot that the one who said it is LAANAH is the messenger of Allahu and there where no exceptions where given to this by HIM. So you should start with what Messenger of Allah said than his Wife. Ibnu MasUd understood it as clear as it said by The Messenger (S.A.W) and followed it without an exception.
@@MrKarungo as Imam Ali (as) said to the Khawarij: "your words are true, but you're using them incorrectly" Teaching people that the average Muslim can understand everything they need to know about a specific topic, from one recorded narration, is incorrect, and arrogant. Because Ibn Masu'd is a big deal, and you can't just ignore what he said. That's not how the sciences of hadith and fiqh work, and yes it is a science. It must be approached with a certain methodology
CORRECTION: I did not rule anything, I was trying to make @MezBricks understand that he can't just say that there is no need for debate because the wife of prophet allowed it to someone. @@MrKarungo @Mohamed Ndayishimiye yes but you implied that others somehow didn't follow it or followed it with exceptions. What if there are other clear narrations from the Prophet which would lead an alim to understand it differently? Would this alim be in error if he was also using evidence from Rasulallah (s)? No, he wouldn't be. How about removing unwanted facial and body hair apart eyebrows like arms legs upper lips side locks ,chest, thighs please note im not married and im a girl
Completely overlooked that these opinions were under the norm of niqaab in those days. Now proper niqaab and sitaar is a rarity, and tabaruuj is a norm. This sort of fiqh is always one eyed and missed a lot of the context we live in, just to appease the audience looking for easier fatawa. Its not valid if you don't have niqaab and walk about in the public where men will stare at how you've beautified yourself
Weird thing is , while what YQ did was to just introduce the another opinion that seems to be forgotten, yet the people in the comment section are so happy about it. May be because now they can go to parlour tomorrow and start plucking their eyebrows. According to one group of scholars this is not sinful, but when you always try to find out softer opinions in the field fiqh then it is really alarming. Keep on doing this and you will find yourself caring all about this world and nothing about hereafter. That is why I have seen scholars who dont even want to quote the other opinion, due to the tendency of the people to use that as an excuse to not staying in safer side. Then you end up dressing according to school A, praying according to school B, beautifying according to school C, think according to school D. A mashup of softer and unpopular opinions. So, please, before adopting any opinion, ask yourself why you are adpoting it, whats your priority this world or the hereafter.
The Prophet (s) said this is a deen of ease. No one should be faulted for following a respectable opinion, on any matter of fiqh, especially if it brings them ease. Anyone can be strict with fiqhi rulings but it doesn't mean that this is the correct, Islamic, way.
@@HilyahAsSalaf if your intention is trying to understand the valid opinions on a matter, because you want to please Allah, then this should be commendable. If one of the opinions would be easier upon you, then you should take it. If you end up blending up rulings from different schools, about one particular matter, then the ruling ends up outside of all of the schools, and this would be impermissible. If you're searching out extremely minority opinions to do something which you know inside is wrong, then this is wrong, as actions are judged by their intention.

May ALLAH swt help and guide us all
Aameen
This is an amazing and very intelligent argument!
Mashallah good point.
I think - it depends on the niyyah
Lol I thought the same thing about single ladies as well lol. I think he's just trying to stay within the traditional paradigm and perspectives
I just tweeted something along the same line. Maybe we all should tweet so he addresses it 😀

If this is the case, then you should not have mentioned it at all in opposition to the clear and authentic prophetic hadeeth. Allaah knows best.
I would love a list of ALL the characteristic that were symbolic of that profession at the time, is there a hadith referring to the list? For one to reflect and assess how many of them and which ones exactly are now normalized and become “standard” social practice’s may Allah Azawajal forgive us.
I, as a nonreligious person, what do you think about the rule Islam that men can marry Christian and Jewish women but women can't?
@@RandPersonn I don't care about women not having that 'right' because I see it as a hindrance rather than a help to marry a Christian or Jewish person. People inherit their surname and identity mainly from their father, this is true around the world including the west, so I understand why the Qur'an commanded it.
@@pombear127 so, what? Because people inherit fathers' surname, and because the Muslim child will inherit his/her non-Muslim father's surname; so that's the problem? Weird.
@@RandPersonn Surname and identity.
@@pombear127 still don't understand. Due to your surname, people who don't know you personally would assume that since your father is a non-Muslim, you must also be a non-Muslim. So what? Who cares what other people think. There are many people with Muslim names like Ahmed, Fatma who are not Muslim(for example, because they left Islam) but don't change their name. There are many Christians who convert to Islam but don't change their name. I think that's not a good argument.
but what if you want to make certain changes to your appearance that are very minimal & barely noticeable only for yourself & not for anyone else? i'm a teenager so i'm still far from getting married but i have very messy eyebrows & they really irritate me. i've never plucked my eyebrows before & i was looking forward to doing so this year since i thought i was finally old enough, but then i came across this hadith & decided against it. upon further research i learned the reasoning behind said hadith & like you mentioned i found out that the beautification of eyebrows is not allowed since by doing so you change Allah swt's creation & that it's only permissible for some married women. but what if i'm not married & just want to do it to make myself feel happier about my appearance/less insecure about my eyebrows & only make very minor changes that are barely noticeable & basically make my eyebrows still look the same but just a little more neat & clean looking rather than completely different?
Pshhhh 3 years later, what was your decision? Trust and believe from a woman in her 30’s. I started getting my eyebrows done when I was 13, then I transitioned to getting them only “cleaned up” with only removes he stragglers at the end and underneath. 8 years ago I stopped doing them completely, let me TELL YOU these thick eyebrows are in fashion now but NOW my brows are “messy” and patchy!” If you have mA healthy brows, leave em be and Allah swt with beautify them for you!! JzkAllahu khayran
Jazak Allah khairun Shiekh for discussing this topic. This Hadith has quite often caused me anxiety. Many times, I have pondered on the similar questions as the scholars who hold the second opinion. Therefore, your video makes a great sense.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
Thank you for this video.

What about men specially with joint eyebrow and trimming eyebrows for shaping them.

@@MrKarungo as Imam Ali (as) said to the Khawarij: "your words are true, but you're using them incorrectly"
Teaching people that the average Muslim can understand everything they need to know about a specific topic, from one recorded narration, is incorrect, and arrogant. This is why ulema spend decades learning the texts and methods, before they can make rulings. If it was so easy, why even take the time to learn? May Allah protect this ummah from such misguidance.
But also Ibnu MasUd followed what prophet said without exception. So debate has to be there and do not make your understanding only to be correct one.
@@MrKarungo @Mohamed Ndayishimiye yes but you implied that others somehow didn't follow it or followed it with exceptions.
You also said how the Prophet said it with NO exceptions, when that's not necessarily how fiqh works. What if there are other pieces of information which provide context to the hadith? What if there are other clear narrations from the Prophet which would lead an alim to understand it differently? Would this alim be in error if he was also using evidence from Rasulallah (s)? No, he wouldn't be.
If you were just trying to say that we should be mindful because ibn Masud is extremely knowledgeable, as well as Aisha, then that's probably what you should have said, right brother?
JazakAllah khair
How about removing unwanted facial and body hair apart eyebrows like arms legs upper lips side locks ,chest, thighs please note im not married and im a girl
Completely overlooked that these opinions were under the norm of niqaab in those days. Now proper niqaab and sitaar is a rarity, and tabaruuj is a norm. This sort of fiqh is always one eyed and missed a lot of the context we live in, just to appease the audience looking for easier fatawa. Its not valid if you don't have niqaab and walk about in the public where men will stare at how you've beautified yourself
If all scholars explained ahadith like this our ummah would have less issues and arguments
Epic findings bro. 👍
The Prophet (s) said this is a deen of ease. No one should be faulted for following a respectable opinion, on any matter of fiqh, especially if it brings them ease. Anyone can be strict with fiqhi rulings but it doesn't mean that this is the correct, Islamic, way.
@@hassanabdaladl Yeah but talfiq really cannot be done if you're only trying to make things easier on yourself. Your intentions have to be good.

@@zd2686 I'm a hanafi myself and studied theology in this. Some extreme views were magnified by the public like if a person prays without covering his head, the prayer, he is frowned upon even considered invalid!
@@zak2509
Wow really. I didn’t know that some hanafis actually believed in something like that. This is the first time that I actually hear about this which might be because I am not from that region.
Yasir Qadhi has the potential to bring down the salafiyyah
Dear Brother and sister - I have question if anyone can answer- my sister works in beauty parlor and she wanted if it’s ok for her to keep the job since she has to do eyebrows threading part of her job? Please help .
We are not allowed jobs that include haram, such as interest / riba, alcohol, zina, plucking, etc.
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
I am from philippines.
I have some questions about this topic, shaver or haircut.
if a muslim has a barbershop the people are go to his barbershop to cut their hairs each clients have requested to haircut against that what Prophet muhammad swt said about haircut.
What should i do if they are requesting to haircut against Allah probihited Allah will cures them.
Kazaa'a..
I do not know that there is a style of haircut that is prohibited by Allah. But assuming that is so then in Islam every individual is responsible for his or her actions in Islam. So if a customer requests a barber to give him or her a "prohibited" haircut, it is that individual's responsibility, not the barber's to dictate what haircut is allowed and what is not!
Why can’t a single woman do it to beautify herself for herself if she doesn’t have a husband?
I think it's because unnecessary exposure of beauty that should be restricted to her husband only. However, if the eyebrows look deformed and defected then it is permissible for even non-married women to turn them into a more normal size according to many scholars.
becoz , single lady can attract men becoz of her beautification but anyways face cover is fard on all muslim women
@@bullseye9723
Face cover is not farz for women in Islam lol. Some women chooses to do it witch is fine however not doing it doesn’t make your sinful. The description of hijab and modesty is very clear in the Quran and it doesn’t include the face, hands and feet:)
@@zd2686 nah bro, face cover is indeed fard ! there is consesus among scholar that if immodesty(fitna) increases faces cover is mandatory !! and about feet , Feet should be always covered as surah noor verse 31 is ver clear about it , feet can only be shown at the time of jihad
@@bullseye9723
Well where do you get that from?
If you read the verses it will be clear to you that the face isn’t included and it is a matter of fact that it doesn’t say that you can’t show your feet. It says quote on quote _”Let them not stomp their feet, drawing attention to their hidden adornments.”_
Now go a check the definition of what stomping means. Bruh it definitely doesn’t mean to show. And by the way this is not something scholars say, this is what the Quran says. The Quran has the highest authority in Islam and in this matter it is really clear what it says in regards to modesty. Therefor we can conclude that face covering isn’t farz:)
PLEASE WHERE do we ask questions???
@Mohamed Ismail Thank you brother
how to ask a question?
Which country Yasin kadi is from?
pakistani living in usa
At least spell his name correctly
@@zeeshanmansoor5298 I think his forefathers were from India. His parents are settled in USA and he grew up and completed his studies in USA. By the way he got his degree in chemical engineering before going to Madinah university in Saudi Arabia. I hope I have. mentioned correctly.
That means single women can not do it?
no, the reason is only for beautification for her husband only
@@bullseye9723 Then it sinful?
@@kaycoonill3591 yes according to hadith yes it is

Sir can u give your views on a scholar named sir ghamdi?
@Hamza Khan true and they are not even supported by the companions or the hadith or the taba tabaeen
@Hamza Khan They are all new and modernistic views which didn't exist back at the time of the prophet or the 3 generations
What about men?
not allowed
why not. the hadith doesn’t mention men
i’m curious too btw
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh because imitating women is haram
@@orakbabama1.0 Who said trimming your eyebrows are for women? It's like taking a haircut. Is it for man or for woman? Especially today, lots of men trim their eyebrows to groom them and keep them nice and clean
Just research, really
He is talking to much, but i like him.
That is so impolite. And not true.
As a Muslim, I find these issues very funny and ridiculously illogical. This is why even the so-called 'Sahih Hadith' falls under scrutiny.
