    I look forward to the Cockerel crowing in the first 60 secs of each video. It's getting to be your 'thing' for each video! You know, like the tea shelf in Furious Driving, the triangle of doom, or Jay Leno's floor spot!

      I have always wondered about that spot on the floor of Jays videos.
      The rooster doesn’t like my voice at all. I can work for hours quietly and nothing but as soon as I turn on the camera and start talking there he goes

      It was probably flaky floor paint, but I expect he uses it as a scene marker.

    You can also apply silicone spray to all the rubber components on the car inc window seals, door rubbbers, also spray to the underside of the shocker mounts ( it will quieten them down if noisy) & spray it on all the suspension rubbers- bushes & boots sway bar bushes, concertina rack boots, careful to avoid the discs
    Works a treat

    If you want a quick fix I've used a silicon grease spray. I used it on a boat where polish on steel plate won't work. It lasts about 3 weeks if the weather's dry, and 4 days if it rains, does not leave a greasy film and keeps the dust off, good if you want car looking good for a show.

    Amazing what the clay bar can do. I was skeptical about it at first until i used it. It really does work.

    It looks fantastic. The green color with all that shine and the chrome is a great look, and is protected.
    Well worth the effort and arm work out. Something about doing it by hand that is better then by machine, satisfaction.
    It does look like new. What was pictured on the tire tread, that looked white, during before and after tape removal?
    The only thing that I don't like now, are the headrests. I bet your wife likes the way it looks, like new. With all the work you do to it, it deserves to look that good. Nice.

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The white stuff is just some concrete dust from the floor in my workshop. When I have the ceiling done in there I will but a sealer on the floor to stop the dust.
      I don’t have the funds to do the whole interior right now but I think I will do the head rests as soon as I can. They do let the car down

      @@LivingWithAClassic I know how it is with fund restrictions. Your doing a great job with what you have.
      I know myself, that I have to plan ahead for the projects I need to do, when I can afford to. Atleast the headrests won't be to much. From what I saw the seats are not too bad. There are ways of dying leather seats and refinishing with acrylics. Check out restoring leather online. I have restored some seats, and they look great. Looking forward to more of your videos.

    British racing green really does pop when clean, I have the same in a 69 MGB-GT!! A couple of things, I would just use soapy water for the clay bar effort, works just as well. To save yourself some funds, buy Meguiars Synthetic X-press spray wax, essentially the detailer spray you have, but priced better by the gallon for detailers. For single stage, a great old school product is Meguiars #7 after the polish, has oils that those single stage paints love! Treat yourself to a dual action polisher, super easy and you'll love the results with a few good Megiars foam pads (I like orange for compound/polish, followed by black with the #7 glaze). You're doing a great job and I love the channel. Huge classic jag fan, had a few, but not as mechanically inclined as you.

    Hi Adam, Being originally from south London, I've never heard of a clay bar! I've always used what they had in the local car spares shop which was T-Cut to restore faded paint then turtle Wax. I agree with just using your hands, machines can damage the paint and can't get into many places like door shuts etc. They are best suited for new paint. Yes it takes time, usually a day, then it's protected for another year. Just put the radio on and it's quite enjoyable. Do you know how to get rid of old dried on water stains on glass? 🤔. Your XJ is looking very good again 👍🧐🎩

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clay is great to get any contamination off the paint.
      Have you tried a detailer spray or maybe a spray wash and wax? Might work.
      I’m going to be trying some glass things in the future. I have some scratches from previous owner on my Daimler that I want to try and get rid of. Thanks for watching!

    Great job Adam. Crikey I thought I took a lot of trouble to protect my car!! I tend to use Autoglym (everyone has their favourites!) but I've never used either clay or wax on the Mk 2 or anything else for that matter (although I do use Autoglym's total gloss protection which I believe does the same job as the wax). As I have never used a clay bar it was really helpful to see how you applied that and the effects were excellent! Thanks a lot for sharing!

    Hi Adam. Looks great ! mmmm. .....chrome and glass next ! 😂😂😂 On a personnal note . I have had equal (and much quicker) results with Auto Glym radiant wax polish. In fact when l had my series 2 in Greensand , ( 12 years ago !) I parked up at my local convenience store and a gentleman walked over and said It had to be Auto Glym radiant wax polish as it shone so well ! Each to his own. Didn't let him know l'd only just repainted it ! Always enjoyable to see your video's . Thanks Adam.

      @@LivingWithAClassic Hi Adam. A little tip . After l've cleaned the main area of the door glass l always drop the glass slightly to make certain the top edges get done then shut them. I've tried so many different products but yes, they are frustrating to do! I cleaned my door glass so well once l went to stick my head out and didn't notice it was halfway down and knocked a tooth clean off ! Didn't go posing again until my tooth was fixed! 😂😂

    • @dmcars147
      @dmcars147 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you intended this for Adam, but I also dislike them. They seem like such a good concept, the issues I have had are that the colors are obviously not an exact match, so in the areas where the colors should help, it created some odd visual distortions that I felt made it look worse. On the other hand, for cars that had great paint to start, I don't think the colored items did anything whatsoever compared to standard non-colored products. Obviously, this was with one or two products I tried and the technology may have improved!
