I remember learning about Juan Gabriel when I was in the USAF, and had been sent to Honduras on temporary duty in 85.... Every bar or restaurant we went into played his song called Querida.. Everyone loved it and was singing the song... None of the guys I was with or I spoke Spanish, but tried to sing along as well LOL... Probably one of the greatest love ballads in any language.

Toward the end of the song there is a little word play he did with the word abrázame that I think was lovely, he goes "abrázame" (embrace me) then he says "abrázenme" (you all "embrace/hug" me) and then he says "sobre todo abrácense" (above all "embrace/hug" each other) I thoght that was lovely.

I'm glad you are reacting to this artist, literally ARTIST , he sings, he's a writer, he's composer , he makes a musical arrangement and beyond that..a real talent and performing on the most important stage in the country with a Mariachi band and an entire philharmonic is unique....is no just about his voice on this específic song, his age at that time and after singing 2 straight hours obviously the voice isn't on his highest moment..is about time to live, time to love and be grateful to God..this song is about that!!.. hopefully you can get the right translation to completely understand why he has the great conexion with the audience even though he pass away few years ago!... He still alive in our hearts for generations..he had a hard life and is why people we love him, support him and keep listning through the time!!... thank-you for this reaction!!... greetings love and peace from MÉXICO!!!

It's impressive how he had the ability to do what I just saw... A beautiful German woman on the verge of crying, without knowing the language well, reacting to the purest aspect of music, which is the feeling, the intention and the sentiment. with which Juan Gabriel sang was inhuman, beyond the enormous vocal range he had and all the feats he achieved, the most beautiful thing he had was that each presentation he gave himself body and soul to his audience, but above all his soul. I had the joy of seeing him live and the energy he transmitted was incomparable to anything. Thank you for knowing a small part of our culture. Greetings from Mexico

My wife and I saw him twice in concert. He was a stunning performer, singer, writer, composer and above all, he totally captured you for the 3-3 and 1/2 hours he performed without a break.
For the entire performance, he had you standing, dancing, singing, laughing, crying with music and words so complex that it was so easy to feel and understand. He connected with you and didn’t let you go.
    Absolutely the best ever.

At the end of the performance ask to hugg to our being loved ones and also we hugg ourselves because we must give own love and being good with us. So beautiful meaning of this song.

Dominicana.

I really appreciated you going back to Mexican music. Juan Gabriel means so much to so many. It was truly an honor to see him live...... I highly recommend La Magdalena from the Luis Miguel series. There is a recording of it as well but the audio isn't the best

Grew up listening to Juan Gabriel, his voice always left me so mesmerized. May he rest in peace 🩶
Edit: If you haven’t already, please react to Acá entre nos by Vicente Fernandez! His voice is absolutely amazing

Hola!. He sings with so much pain, joy, love... and add all the suffering when he grew up, his mon abandoned him since he was like 2 y.o. he grew up in a orphanage - he escaped from it, He was in jail for 18 months because a woman accused him for stealing jewelry in her house (no one knows if that was true). So much pain... and when he was on stage, u could hear it but at the same time, loud, strong, skilled tuned etc..etc... Now....on the video u r watching u can see his Mom years Later ( reconciliation) on the min. 1:46 also u can see all the most famous Actors from México, some singers from other countries. I'm 53 y.o. My parents took me and my brothers to 1 of his concerts when i was 11 y.o. AMAZING!!!. besides singing he was a Good actor too and he sang in his movies... like a Musical. He was everything... he wrote, he composed, arrangements, acting, gave singing classes...etc..etc...A Chameleon like David Bowie!. 😚😗😉😘👌🤝🙏

I have recently stumbled upon your channel....and I appreciate your knowledge and brief points of definition without getting so self preachy in not being too opinionated, and your enthusiastic open venue of different genres of music is refreshing, and you are right about 60s/70s/80s/90s Metal/Folk/Rock/Soul/Latin of offset arrangement of chorus and notes that leads too an explosion of sound, is what really sets a mood of self discovery and enjoyment. That's what it's all about. Its too bad the music industry has moved to a more safe and synthetic version of raw talent, Juan Gabriel is Awesome.... I'm Irish
