I don’t even think winning can save KAT from the “soft” narrative, I mean just this last year he probably had his best season not statistically, but just in terms of consistency and helping his team win 46 games (when they were expected to be a low 30 win team) but he receives no credit for being a 24-25 PPG scorer, has improved on defense and is by far the best shooting big man in the league. I’m glad ant doesn’t get the unnecessary hate but it’s pretty unfair for KAT to be only looked at for his flaws when there’s plenty more good things that he provides, even if he doesn’t have that perceived “killer instinct” or whatever he’s one of the top 15-20 players in the league and he should be treated like it instead of just some bum who gets constantly disrespected and gets no credit whatsoever for his basketball skills

Honestly, the issue with KAT is his body language. If you see him play in person he pouts, doesnt hussle back on defense if he thinks he may have been fouled, makes this super off-putting complaining face to referees and so much more. He is certainly talented at the highest level, but he is a complainer... Period. Thats his personality, and that personality isnt going to gain him a bunch of fans.

Edwards was able to change the media’s view on him with his play on the court. Before the draft everyone was hating on Edwards for not watching basketball. He preferred to watch football.
They also said he was the next bust. Edwards is hard to hate and doesn’t get down when he plays bad. Beverley did his job thank you!

I think the Ant hype is a little overboard. I need to see more of a jump from year 1 to 2 if this guy is going to be elite. Like top 10 player. I have doubts, not really about his character, but his feel. Maybe the TWolves need to get rid of Russell and let him go, but I doubt this would turn out well for Edwards as the primary in a sloggy offense with two true bigs.

From the name of your channel to the content you just uploaded, I align with it. NBA media is trife with quickly dealt and often undeserved slander. There are ridiculous amount of players who have running narratives that muddy the perception of what they are capable of on the court and their value. Players like Lonzo are highly unappreciated despite their ability. A series like this would be dope to see. Keep going man !

I’ve never seen someone get as much undeserved hate as KAT, plenty of guys get hate because they talk to much shit or “play the game the wrong way” or piss off fans but KAT literally only gets hate because of Butler saying he’s soft 3 years ago, it’s so stupid

I think you are wrong here. Most of the "hate" directed at KAT is because he is a whiny crybaby on the court who either doesn't show up (or certainly elevate his game) when the Wolves need him most in the playoffs or play-in or get's outright taken out of games. I personally don't care about the Jimmy Butler quotes at all, there is plenty about KAT's personality and play that annoy the crap out of me and many fans and media that has nothing to do with Butler. It doesn't help that KAT always says the wrong thing, or something stupid or scripted in every interview he does. All that said, ANT is my favorite player in the league.

Since Thibs got hired KAT became increasingly low IQ player. Dumb decisions and constant talks to refs. He is not soft or lazy, he is just dumb.
Good Vid! The main difference between Kat and Ant showed in the playoffs against the Grizz. Ant increased his PPG vs the regular season and Kat went down. Not only did Kat go down from his season avg, he flat didn't show up for 2 games. If Ant was out for that series, Wolves would have been swept. Ant was the only one who could actually guard Ja at the end of games. No one else, not even Beverly was doing that. Ant is a Superstar in the making. Kat's just a star. Different levels. It's going to get obvious this year. Watch and see....
Not showing up in game one or two (can’t remember which one was the stinker game) is inexcusable and KAT definitely has to work on his decision making, especially in the low post because he’s still prone to low IQ plays but the reason for his PPG going down is mostly the Grizzlies defense. They send a second defender on KAT in every possession since he’s the best offensive player on the team. Ant never got double teamed.
If ANT can continue to grow as a player KAT is the player who profits the most from it. KAT has Elite talent but a really poor mentality. If he gets his mentality issues fixed he could easily be in the same tier as Jokic qnd Embiid.
To be fair the Grizz altered their lineup to specifically counter KAT. Their whole strategy was to neutralize him, and it worked. Team's have done the same thing successfully to LeBron.
The 2022-23 regular season is almost over and Ant is carrying the team. Kat has a mysterious injury since November.
The debate is over. TWolves is Ant's team.

Really insightful stuff. It's been weird to watch KAT's arc as a Wolves fan, he was a league darling early on and then got derailed by Jimmy, Thibs, and just some godawful stuff in his personal life. I think he'll be remembered fondly by Minnesota fans, but he's the one who stands to lose the most by this Gobert trade - like, if they do well, it'll be because he needed a "real" big to help him in the post, and if they don't do well it'll be because he can't make it work with another big. At any rate, it's interesting to note that Wiggins was roughly in the same boat but has completely redeemed himself by having success in Golden State, and I can't tell you enough how grateful I am that KAT hasn't pulled a Kevin Love to get out of Minnesota before he hits his prime.

As far as I am concerned, Towns ought to be buying lunch for Edwards every single day for the rest of his career, Edwards came in last year and ever since his rookie year, and has just saved our team, just made the Timberwolves relevant again
The reason for us winning recently isn’t just based on ant. We added dlo, got great role players in vanderbilt pat bev jaden mcdaniels Malik Beasley and jaylen nowell , got a new coach, all our young players progressing, new front office. He did help make us relavant but even then in his first year we were still one of the worst teams and the only reason we turned it around at the end of the 20-21 season was because dlo came back

@A booty plundering pirate This upcoming season the Wolves probably have the best roster they ever had. KG was an MVP in 2004, but his best 2 teammates were Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell. Cassell at his best was a borderline all star, Sprewell was passed his prime, literally retired after the next season. The roster they got now is really good. KAT is a top 15-20 player. Anthony Edwards is a top 25-30 player and he has the potential to turn into a top 10 guy very soon. Gobert is a top 30 player. Dlo is a top 40 player. Every player I just mentioned has been or likely will be an all star. KG never had that kind of roster built around him. Timberwolves have 2-3 year window to do something really special and it all depends on Ant's development in that time
