Anthony edwards is the player that will give Luka doncic the hardest time in the playoffs in his career. It’s almost as if he was designed in a lab to play against him, it’s kind of funny. Too fast for Luka to get by, too strong for Luka to bully. I think these two are going to have some legendary battles.

Nah... to strong? Dont get me wrong, he is strong... but Luka is not only bigger, he is also stronger. Luka can move a lot of Centers in Post up situations... so not sure Edwards can stand a chance there. I think Wiggins is the perfect matchup and did his job as close to perfection as possible.
That being sad. I can see the rivalry between the 2... AND Ja. Those 3 are the future of the West and I cant wait to see how this will end!

I mean it's not like Luka has ever relied on being faster or stronger than his defender to score on them, but I do agree they will make for a good matchup. If all it took was speed and strength to guard Luka, there would be a considerable number of players that you could apply this to. You gotta remember that one of the reasons Luka is so dominant is that the NBA has overemphasized raw athletic ability allowing for his fundamentally based game to excel. If anything, I believe it's more of Edwards motor, natural feel and control over his body that will help close the gap of Lukas elusiveness.

The toughest 1 on 1 defender Luka saw was Kawhi in game 7 when he went to vintage Kawhi. I think Ant Man has those tools. It’s one thing to say speed and strength, it’s another thing to be the damn near perfect package of it. Those guys are rare.

This is a great video, well done. Anthony Edwards was a top running back in the nation around 5th grade, and you did a great job at showing how that and his other immense talents are utilized. As a Wolves fan, his ceiling is seemingly limitless, but he still has a lot of growing to do. And his determination and dominant/charismatic personality make it sound very possible to reach for superstardom. I'm eating up this type of timberwolves content with a side of kool aid, so I'd love to see more. Maybe more broadly on the team like how gobert might work, the underrated depth, etc.

As a wolves fan you could tell right away the kid was special. As a rookie, he showed his inexperience often but my god there were moments where he would just completely dazzle and bamboozle the whole defense as a 19 year old and it would make my god damn heart flutter. In his rookie season, his bright spots were blindingly bright. We get to see his charisma all the damn time too in post game pressers with Cat and Dlo. His relationships with mentors like Rubio and Pat Bev. I've been telling my friends (none of whom watch the wolves because of their persistent mediocrity ever since KG left) that Anthony Edwards is in a league of his own but Minnesota sports have left them jaded so they just kind of shrug it off. Can't wait for the kid to lead the wolves to their first championship. I have no doubt in my damn mind that he's the prince that was god damn promised.

is this an american thing or is just basketball thing? in football (soccer) is common that the best player and captain to be different players

Great video. But there is one thing that will help him tremendously this season on offense AND on defense. Rudy Gobert. Gobert is overpayed, no question. But he is one of the best screeners and rim rollers in the NBA. His picks will open up the lanes even more for Edwards, the same way Adams helped Ja in that area! AND he is a great lob thread. Together with KAT, who is an elite P&P option, I can see a lot of Spain P&R with those 3, that will put the opponents on their heels. Or what about a Russel/Gobert P&R with some off ball screens from KAT/Edwards with one cutting and one popping? Gobert will really help the Wolves offensively, even if he himself is not that great of an offensive wheapon.
And defensively Gobert is probably the best rim protector of the 2000. Means Edwards strengths will be extremely well suited. He can hover the lanes and gamble even more, cause Gobert can help out if it doesnt work. And can be agressive on ball... cause Gobert is behind him AND because Edwards is so good rotating on the perimeter. The Utah PO problems defensively had nothing to do with Gobert. It was a problem of the 4 guys around him. They didnt rotate, they couldnt defend opponents in Iso situations, they were just not fast enough. Edwards is... and the things players like Conley (to old/injured), Mitchell (lack of effort and size), or Bogdanovic (physical limitations) are not good at, are exactly Edwards biggest strenghts!
I can see a similar progression in his game that we saw with Morant last season. He might not be the playmaker Morant is (and most likely wont be) but thats ok. Cause the Wolves still have Russel. I know people hate on him because he wasnt good in the PO. But he is still a good playmaker who finds the open man and is more then able to get the ball to the right player in the right spots. So I think his general stats will be around 26 PPG / 5 APG on even better shooting splits. And he will be a 1st time Allstar. I can even see the Wolves having 3 Allstars next season, IF they dont have growing pains adjusting to the new system with Gobert/KAT as a 2 big Lineup. Cause it might take some time to figure out the offensive sets and defensive rotations... the only question is how much time.

Nice video. I honestly don't think a mid range game is truly necessary for Ant to make "The Leap". The biggest thing is just working to improve a bit of everything and getting more foul calls at the rim. Idk if it's just that he's so big and strong that the ref's don't think he is getting fouled when he attacks the rim or if it's just good ol' NBA reffing issues but his FT rate on drives to the rim are absurdly low for how often he attacks and how explosive he is to the basket. Dude averaged under FOUR FTs a game last year. Wade averaged over NINE a game from year 2 through year 7. Dwade was also a sub 30% 3pt shooter whereas Ant has shown he can make 3s. Makes no sense. Outside of the FTs it's just improving a bit of everything. Rebounding, assists, turnovers, taking better quality shots, and above all DEFENSE. He can be pretty good on the ball and has a nose for sniffing out steals but not getting lost off the ball and getting rubbed out on screens remain an area of improvement. I am hoping he can learn from Dlo on the pnr with Rudy because both of those guys playing with Rudy in the pnr could be deadly this year.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.”

I agree about the assist part. Getting to five or six while maintaining the same level of TO's would be a solid goal to strive for next year. Having Gobert to toss lobs could be all he needs to get him there.
I scoring differently. With KAT there as the #1. You would just like to see him get more efficient. Lime you top 2-3 scorers to push 60% TS, he is almost there after being league average in his 2nd year (good sign).
Maybe improve on a certain shot type. Get to certain spots he's more efficient at, improve on others to get that extra 4%.
With defense, it's nice to have a great defensive G/PG. But even just being average/above average will be fine with your #2 scorer. Especially now that Gobert is there for the rim protection.
Perhaps his presence will get them over the top into legit contender status.

Loved this Video. I’ve been a Wolves fan my entire life and watched most of his NBA games and I’m more excited about his potential than I ever was about KG. I think he could become the best player in basketball. He’s got all the talent, size and potential in the world and like you said he’s coachable, has the best personality of anyone in sports imo and has probably the most confidence as well. Definitely an all-star this year.

Thing idiots call hesitation is either double dribling or travel, depending on situation. Stepbacks, moving picks and hesitations have nothing to do with basketball, it's controlled cheating! Money is all they think of, nothing else, end everybody that pays a single $ to the nba in any posible way is guillty.

Great video as always. I appreciate the film you put together for this, especially the stuff when you start talking about his midrange shooting. The stats are not pretty, but he can make some seriously difficult shots from the midrange. The space he creates himself and the ability to hit some seriously contested or off-balance shots is insane, although he's not yet hitting them at a high rate. If he can figure out how to improve his shooting from midrange the way he already is doing with his 3, he's gonna be straight up impossible to stop on offense.

The kid is special and with a great coach in Chris Finch and good front office, they look like they could start taking over the league in a few seasons

I think the one main thing missing from Edwards offensive game (besides the mid-range jumper) is his lack of getting to the FT line.
The ability to get to the line is what makes a very good scorer into an All-Time great. If you look at any scoring champ from the last 20 years you'll see a pattern and that is that their FT attempts were around 50% of their 2pt FG attempts. That means for every 2FG attempts they will have gone to the FT line once.
It may seem like a little thing but those FTs add up in the box score. Take for instance Kevin Garnett. Garnett was a volume scorer who took around 17-18 shots per game at a good % in his prime. The main reason why Garnett was never amongst the scoring leaders was the fact that despite him taking a high volume of shots per game he rarely got to the line. I think for his career he was around 33% had he gotten his FT to FG ratio up to 50% then he would have averaged over 2 PPG better over his career which would have pushed his PPG average towards the top 5 in the league during his prime.
Compare that to Dwyane Wade who made a living going to the line and you can see how important this aspect of the game is important to a scorer. In his prime Wade got to the line on around 55% of his FG attempts or 11 FTs for every 20 shots. Wade took less shots per game than Garnett, had a lower FG % than Garnett yet still had a much higher scoring average than Garnett.
Edwards is more comparable in style to Wade. If Edwards can get that FT to FG ration up over 50% I think he will become a top 5 scorer in the NBA annually. The ability is there. He can drive on anybody and doesnt back down from contact. Maybe those FTs will come when he becomes a better mid-range scorer and defenders dont just back off snd play him for his driving ability but the tools are there, Edwards just has to figure out how to unlock them.

I like Anthony, I see a slight drop off in assist and fg% with Rudy in the middle, unless they make him the primary ball handler in a D.Mitch role. Wolves need a strong 3/ D wing so he won't have to be the primary wing defender.
