I have been binging your videos to set up my Klaviyo, pop-ups, and so on. I have often felt frustrated with the entire email set-up process and you have made it so much easier to get through it all. Thank you so much. You rock!
Thank you so much Kasey!!! Klaviyo does not explain all of these details. They only suggest that you create a flow after creating the coupon, but they don't tell you how to add the coupon to the flow. This is a game changer!!!
Awesome tutorial video! Your ability to communicate the step by step walkthrough is great for someone who's looking to learn more about the technical side of klavyio and shopify.
Hi Kasey, I was following your tutorial but unable to add the coupon code as described, its showing syntax error. When I removed the coupon code, it's working! What might be wrong?
Thanks Kasey. If I wanted to send a 2nd email reminder to recipients that haven't used the code yet, should I paste that same code in the 2nd email as well or should I create another 15% off coupon in Klaviyo specifically for the 2nd email?
Oh wow, amazing tutorial! I was banging my head against a wall as why my discount emails were not going out, but this video just made it so easy! Thank you so much, keep up the good work!! :)
thank you so much Kasey! I was struggling but now everything works. I have two questions : How can I create a flow with the segment "potential buyer" that klaviyo created? How can I add the people that subscribes through shopify and not through the pop-up, to the list/segment of the flow? Thank you in advance for your reply!
thanks Bruno! that's 2 separate q's: how long it takes to fully understand Klaviyo: that really depends on how much time you put in! If that's all you do 24/7, probably a week (with the help of tutorials and practicing in an account you manage). If you only do that a few hours per week, then much longer. How long it takes to see results from flows: really depends on the traffic on your site! The more traffic > the more recipients in your flow > the faster it'll take to see results. If you have decent traffic, you'll see conversions within days. I like to wait 4 weeks to make conclusions on the metrics/conversion. I recommend this video to understand flow & campaign effectiveness further >> th-cam.com/video/C2YpDL-8Xno/w-d-xo.html
About single vs. double opt-in: I believe if you do business with certain EU countries (such as Germany, Norway, Greece), you are legally obliged to have double opt-in as a default.
that might be true, i recommend thoroughly checking the laws of your market as they change often. A few years ago there was a big update referred to as GDPR in Europe. With GDPR, when you collect email addresses you have to be super explicit that they'll be used for marketing. This can be achieved with a double-optin, but also being extremely clear in the popup itself (ie. spelling out that you'll be sending marketing messages to the subscriber)
@@KaseyLuck yes, I was referring to GDPR rules :) The double opt-in is mandatory in some EU countries because of it (although I find it interesting that not all EU countries demand it!)
Thank you and I have watched that already if you make a video high converting welcome flow fully setup it'd be better like your high-converting abandon cart video thanks again for your response!@@KaseyLuck
Great explanations and easy to understand. May I ask how do I also get my welcome series to flow when a user is simply subscribing / creating an account from my Creat an account page built in shopify?
You need to make sure that the “create account” form in Shopify is connected to the Klaviyo list that triggers your Welcome Flow. You should be able to do that in your Shopify settings.

Its already synced with klaviyo, yet it was created on my actual web theme. How can I send an automatic discount code to anyone that signs up compared to the pop up that I created in klaviyo that gives and automatic coupon code. Thanks
Hi, sorry I missed your comment earlier! You need to make sure that the signup in your theme is linked to the same Klaviyo *list* as the popup (and that that list is the trigger for the welcome flow that contains the discount). Hope this helps!
Hi Everyone I am receiving a message saying that (FIX invalid template tags or variables to preview the message with actual profiles and events.) As far as I can tell it's refusing the code that you mentioned in your tutorial. {% coupon_code'checkout' %} Any help please ?
often times it's the formatting of that code. make sure you're using straight (not curly) quotes. Also, seems like you're missing a space after the word "code". And in addition, make sure there's no other code in that email. I recently got a similar error message and it turned out we were using first name personalization in the subject line that wasn't formatted correctly, and THAT was what was causing the error.
Hi Kasey, this was such a help! However, after finishing everything and testing, I don't receive any emails when subscribing through the sign-up form. The listing is both on ''Newsletter'' on my page, I have single opt-in, and I have both on live. I know it lands on spam folder, but didn't receive any mail after trying couple of times... Do you have any idea what I'm missing?
Could it be that you've already been on the list before? Try subscribing with a new email address. If that doesn't help, unfortunately I can't tell what the issue could be without seeing your account, so I recommend reaching out to Klaviyo email support
Very helpful tutorial. Thank you!! Question, when testing I received two emails after "signing up" in the pop up. The first email was "confirm your subscription". The second email, the Welcome email with the Discount Code, came after I confirmed my subscription. Is there another way customers can confirm receiving emails, so they only receive the one email?
You have double opt-in enabled right now, that’s why subscribers need to confirm their subscription. You can turn that off in your list settings. Go to the list your welcome flow is connected to, go to settings, and find “double opt in/ single opt in” settings. You want to select SINGLE opt-in if you don’t want subscribers to have to confirm their subscription
Thank you so much for this tutorial! So helpful! However, when I change the end date to 15 days in Klaviyo, it won't create codes. Please advise. Thanks!
Thanks Kausha! When you say “it won’t ch age the codes” what exactly do you mean? If you are talking about the codes that were already created before and sent out to subscribers, then that’s correct - you can’t change the codes retroactively. Only the new codes that are created after you made the change will have an expiration date of 15 days
I would like to still nurture people that try to re-enter the welcome flow. Is there a way for me to send them an email acknowledging that they've already signed up and offering them a separate discount?
Last time I checked (which was probably a year ago), you couldn't do that with Klaviyo, but it's worth asking them again! I recommend reaching out to their support and asking if it's possible.
Thanks for watching the tutorial, glad it was helpful! There might be 2 things about the coupon: 1) you first need to create it in your account and name it exactly the same way (if you are copy-pasting the code from the video description). 2) the quotation marks around the word “checkout” need to be very specific - straight instead of slanted. TH-cam (and a lot of other text editing tools) don’t allow that, so you’ll need to write it directly inside Klaviyo

is your popup connected to the same list that triggers the flow? That's the most common issue (it has to be the same list). Also, sometimes there's a slight delay. Other than that, make sure you check your flow filters and any additional filters on the email itself.
