Una Corda, nils frahm & Spitfire Audio, the VST has a mode where you can select pianist on, and it makes all these constant creaks that you hear in this automatically
I love when you buy this album it's the live version, because I love hearing the pedal and the soft lift of his hands off the keys, I'm a sucker for live acoustic performances so this is perfect. Thank you Olafur Arnalds for coming into this world and gifting us with the pleasure of listening to your beautiful creations!
For the song about his grandmother, I thought the slow pan the camera made to reveal all the string players was brilliant. It caught me completely off-guard, and it made the song so much more emotionally impactful. I'm not at all ashamed to say that I teared up a little bit. Given Olafur's motivation for the song, I thought it was so sweet to suddenly have a whole room full of people playing along with him. It's one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard/seen.
As soon as he mentioned his grandmother, that was it. I was sobbing too-my mother passed away at the end of November, and this just got to me. What a sensitive, beautiful guy Arnalds is.If we had more like him in the world, it would sure be a much better place.
i was soooo privileged to see him on a live show in Brooklyn steele, New York and I was just amazed and so happy to hear his songs....he played my favorite: only four winds and near light...love love his music. listening now while I work. thank you

This album is the first set of non-vocal classical-esque music that has ever made me weep. I've never been touched by music so much. Thank you for your offering.
I love how my favorite song by him (which leaves me breathless every time I hear it, I swear) was written in an hour at the last minute. And he wasn't even sure about it. I am so glad he decided to go with it instead of something else!!
because......he's really humble. The sound of gentle electricty through my heart and mind. Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent and passion.
He called Near Light "the happiest" piece... are you serious? Whenever I listen to that one it totally destroys me emotionally... yet I keep coming back for more.
What I think he meant is that the song's resolutions are the most positive. In the end, the song ends on the most major note, showing that the tensions involved were released. The piece is very emotional, yes, but we are assured that freedom will come.
+PianoHaiku I agree, the song is haunting... but I'm not always sure if it's despair or joy or both that go through me when I hear Near Light. I love it.
I truly love these ballads, they have a melancholy quality mimicking the highs and lows of this dance called life yet with such depth of emotion. Thankful
So much music today is beautiful, but complicated. I really enjoy hearing this music that is simple and yet beautiful. Living in the north myself, I appreciate the calm winter night feeling of the music. With each hearing, I appreciate the music more. Thank you.
I saw Olafur on his recent tour in Birmingham. A sublime experience, I enjoyed every song and was especially delighted to hear some of the Broadchurch music through which I first became aware of this musical genius.. I have now ordered Living Room songs from Amazon. This film is beautiful.
What can I say after a shared a tear, Olafur? I know u for a couple years already and.. I am still getting amazed about ur stories like I.. will never forget "pictures" from Stefansson books. Thank you!
Still relevant, needed. I love listening to stories about how music is made. So far listening to this album I felt like I had come home after a long absence, now I know why.
After his concert, I came to Oli and I said, I am Agus from Jakarta Indonesia, He recognize me coz' we've been email each other... and then He said, give me 5 minutes and meet me back there. I am so happy to meet and talk for an hour with Olafur Arnalds at KEX Hostel back in Iceland Airwaves 2012.
I love this so much. I love his songs and his personality is just so great. He is a really great inspiration. By the way: when he played the song he wrote for his grandmother, it started to rain here. Very beautiful. Thanks for the upload.
the one and only reason why my life is worth living...listening to your music olafur. as a lonley guy, your music sounds like a smooth touch of a woman you would never let go....
his work is timeless. so many compositions undiscovered ---- its unfortunate however we will savor and I will share this with my children. hopefully they can pass it on and so on. this culture must- not die.
I'm blown away by your music. It's so lovely. So glad I accidentally found you. I'll be playing your music in my yoga classes in the near future. I hope you never quit composing.
A fabulous idea beautifully expressed. I revisited this after watching some of the new Island Songs Olafur has been posting. Really impressed with the musical qualities he is able to produce and the atmosphere of place captured on film
I really like the way you make music. I also like to sit at the piano in the evening at just let it flow. The strings give it a nice extra touch... I think I need to find some friends who can play :-). Anyway: Just ordered your album- keep going :-)!
Wow. So glad to have found this video for one of my all-time favourite albums. Thanks you for the music, thank you for the spaces, thank you for the sound and thank you for the silence. Play well my friend. Takk
Great musician. Glad I found you. Listen to your music at work with my ear phones in. Very relaxing yet inspiring. Makes me want to buy my own piano 👍👍👍😐😐😐
I appreciate VERY MUCH how nobody in the audience coughs during the earned silence at the end of each piece (although glass-holding guy looks like he could go 'hic' at any moment). Thank you, Ólafur.
that´s because they treasure their culture, they´ve got a good education, and like in Finland children are introduced to musical instruments from a very young age. ALso the fact of livng in an island may make a difference.
I had an opportunity to live in Iceland some years ago and I live there for two years. I have to say that, I loved that little country and people. If I day I could to go back, I would.
Tomorrow's Song, Near LIght, and Lag Fyrrir ömmu get a lot of love as they deserve to be, but for me the highlight on the album is Ágúst; such an incredible melancholic yet hopeful piece. That said, hearing Lag Fyrir Ömmu played live at the end of his concert with him alone on stage and the string players softly playing backstage was one of the highlights of my concert-going life.
The commentary added such depth and meaning to this album. It was always one of my favs but even moreso now. P.S. Was I the only one who saw two violins in the last song? Perhaps he got his wish after all ☺
Really spooky that creation would be something that only exists in living rooms the world over today. Beautiful, natural compositions and sounds to sooth the soul - the room ambience adds the 100's and 1000's on top.
I love the subtle creaking noises in his songs. They add a unique touch to give the listener a sense of lonely melancholiness.
+Matt Nuguid A sense of nearly-forgotten analog days, perhaps?
I agree. Such a great touch
Una Corda, nils frahm & Spitfire Audio, the VST has a mode where you can select pianist on, and it makes all these constant creaks that you hear in this automatically
Is this the best neighbor imaginable or what? Can just imagine sitting at home and listening to beautiful music being played live across the hall.
Simple is beautiful. Only a few composers can make something like this happen.
I didn't know how to express this properly. You just did it so poignant and...simple! :-)
I love when you buy this album it's the live version, because I love hearing the pedal and the soft lift of his hands off the keys, I'm a sucker for live acoustic performances so this is perfect. Almost a decade later, my heart soars and I cry every time I listen and watch. It feels like a kind of renewal each and every time.

Something about Ólafur's music is just too perfect. Gratz for the BAFTA nomination, can't wait for whatever is next
I love how my favorite song by him (which leaves me breathless every time I hear it, I swear) was written in an hour at the last minute. And he wasn't even sure about it. I am so glad he decided to go with it instead of something else!!
Probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I listen to this for months now. Thank you Ólafur Arnalds and live in peace.
beautifully peaceful, I often listen to this when studying
Olafur is a genius....love to watch this video when I need to unwind...music for the soul
because......he's really humble. The sound of gentle electricty through my heart and mind. Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent and passion.
He called Near Light "the happiest" piece... are you serious? Whenever I listen to that one it totally destroys me emotionally... yet I keep coming back for more.
I thought the exact same thing... For me, it's a heartbreaking song, yet an extremely beautiful piece.
***** I'm sure it comes from the uplifting 'hope' that one feels with the faster pace of the piece. c:
What I think he meant is that the song's resolutions are the most positive. In the end, the song ends on the most major note, showing that the tensions involved were released. The piece is very emotional, yes, but we are assured that freedom will come.
+PianoHaiku
I think compared to the other songs of the album, it's really the happiest piece in my opinion as well ^^
+PianoHaiku I agree, the song is haunting... but I'm not always sure if it's despair or joy or both that go through me when I hear Near Light. I love it.
Thank you for inviting me to your house!!!! Great moment!!!
I´m grateful with the day I listened Olafur Arnalds for the first time, changed my life, every note, every song goes beyond magic!
Thank you.
Im not a music expert, but I've been listening this music for over a year and everytime I play it is a wonderful experience. thanks Olaf .
This is my all time favourite album. I can't begin to explain how many times I've listened to the whole album and it still continues to move me.
He's so absolutely adorable and such an amazing musician! So so talented and so sweet and humble...
I saw Olafur on his recent tour in Birmingham. A sublime experience, I enjoyed every song and was especially delighted to hear some of the Broadchurch music through which I first became aware of this musical genius.. I have now ordered Living Room songs from Amazon. This film is beautiful.
That story about your Grandma was so beautiful. I won't listen to that song in the same way again.
What can I say after a shared a tear, Olafur? I know u for a couple years already and.. I am still getting amazed about ur stories like I.. will never forget "pictures" from Stefansson books. Thank you!
I love the idea of this film - amazing
Thank u so much for your work. I have recommended your music to everyone I know. That's art, high quality art.
Still relevant, needed. I love listening to stories about how music is made. So far listening to this album I felt like I had come home after a long absence, now I know why.
I always loved his Living Room Songs album. So original and creative right to the soul. Can't wait to see him live one day!

Your music completes my experience of life, quite extraordinary discovering just how much your sound poetry means. Thank you.👌
the one and only reason why my life is worth living...listening to your music olafur. as a lonley guy, your music sounds like a smooth touch of a woman you would never let go....
Absolutely beautiful and soothing. This album is love.
For what it's worth, your grandma's song is my favourite in the whole world.
Thanks for that !
his work is timeless. so many compositions undiscovered ---- its unfortunate however we will savor and I will share this with my children. hopefully they can pass it on and so on. this culture must- not die.
Beautiful, touching…lovely. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift.❤
I'm blown away by your music. It's so lovely. So glad I accidentally found you. I'll be playing your music in my yoga classes in the near future. I hope you never quit composing.
Amazing every time I listen. Bought the album several years ago.
A fabulous idea beautifully expressed. I revisited this after watching some of the new Island Songs Olafur has been posting. Really impressed with the musical qualities he is able to produce and the atmosphere of place captured on film
It's weird how after listening to Island songs these songs got exponentially better too
Thanks for putting this up.
I really like the way you make music. I also like to sit at the piano in the evening at just let it flow. The strings give it a nice extra touch... I think I need to find some friends who can play :-). Anyway: Just ordered your album- keep going :-)!
I love your music, it's very emotional and deep. It beats on the middle of the heart.
Congratulations from the other side of the world, Argentina.
Just when I didn't think it'd be possible to admire Ólafur anymore, I notice at 8:33 he has the Bo' Selecta boxset. What an absolute hero.
Beautiful music ... I have heard so many times this record and I was moved . Congratulations indeed for your inspiration .
Wow. So glad to have found this video for one of my all-time favourite albums. Thanks you for the music, thank you for the spaces, thank you for the sound and thank you for the silence. Play well my friend. Takk

I appreciate VERY MUCH how nobody in the audience coughs during the earned silence at the end of each piece (although glass-holding guy looks like he could go 'hic' at any moment). Thank you, Ólafur.
You and your music are always such an incredible pleasure to enjoy and this was just beyond that!
simply amazing... gave me hope, grow two wings on my shoulders and let me fly... It really relax me . thank YOU
Thank you Ólafur! Beautiful as always.
Absolutely stunning.
I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed/heard anything more beautiful than this.
Is no one going to talk about his adorable teddy bear?
+Julia Corrêa I hadn't noticed. So cute!!!
i was just going to comment on that lol
Teddy bears love melancholic music.
wisekraks they get all this love and then thrown in a corner, no wonder.
and the knitting!
So beautiful music!

This guy is so so beautiful when is playing piano. Is like an Angel.
Why such a small country as Iceland has so many talented musicians?
*cough* and footballers ;).
ikr
And strongmen...as in Worlds Strongest Man.
+Muttley haha lol. sooo true
that´s because they treasure their culture, they´ve got a good education, and like in Finland children are introduced to musical instruments from a very young age. ALso the fact of livng in an island may make a difference.
Big Fan, Your music takes me to so many places. beautiful!

Beautiful music!! BTW, nice poster on the wall!
