expectations are sky high as for now.. i can't wait but i try to not expect the whole album be on the level of the singles :-D i don't want to be disappointed. but at least one single will be featuring sam carter, which excites me the most!
That comment on the video director was incredibly smart, and I haven’t seen anyone else catch that - props to you! Spiritbox September can’t come fast enough!
This is what sets Spiritbox apart from rest of modern day bands. They have such a range with their outlet of emotions. They make music to backup the story, not the other way around. I think this is the correct way for them to do music and as an guitar player i'm just over the moon by guitar work in this song. Amazing, as always.
As someone who doesn't play an instrument, I would love to watch a lot of the bands music videos as playthroughs in addition to or instead of so I could watch them play and see what they are doing to really appreciate the song. Also sometimes things can get lost in the mix and watching them play helps my ear find it and appreciate it. For instance, a lot of Beartooth's songs I have a tough time finding the bass guitar in the mix when there are guitars, drums and vocals present. Part of that might also be listening in a vehicle most of the time rather then using headphones. And yes, Spiritbox has something special (like Unleash The Archers) when it comes to writing music.
This one was a gem! Like you were saying with the risk bit, I love seeing variety in a band. Shows the depth of their talent and creativity imo. Been blasting this one in the car lately for sure. The last few songs from them just made me like em more and more and this one was a cherry on top.
I've been going through a bunch of different reactors that are doing Spiritbox music and typically don't watch more than one. However I've stopped at your channel and now subscribed based purely on your Spiritbox reactions. Excited to go check out the rest of your channel!
Spiritbox is definitely getting a HUGE push between their videos, photoshoots, and Sirius exposure. One of the first times in recent memory I've agreed with a label's push. Rise Records does tend to do a decent job with their talent from what I know (you probably know better tho Tank)
Haven't been this excited for a band in a long time! Ridiculous talent at all levels. Sounds so simple yet the complexity of the drums and rifts are unreal!
I love the fact that they can go from Constance to Holy Roller. Hell, Courtney even said the song on the record with Sam from Architects is the heaviest track in her opinion so Holy Roller isn't even the heaviest shit they've done. I wonder if because originally they intended Holy Roller as just like a palate cleanser on the record and then it went so viral they worried that people would think thats all they could do and now they are working to correct that. Because they do the full spectrum so well it's always exciting to hear what they write because you just don't know what you're going to get except we've learned some of the hallmarks of the band by now: great bass tone and killer grooves courtesy of Bill, guitar parts that serve the song with really musical and interesting drumming courtesy of Mike and Zev, great production courtesy of Dan Braunstein and a wide range of vocal styles from Courtney. Within that framework of quality we get such interesting variations and so a new record is going to be such an open ended journey and I am here for it.
What I love about Spiritbox is that you think you know what you're going to get next and they break those expectations every single time, they never fail to surprise me
Took me a few listens to appreciate it in full. Now it's another masterpiece. It's genius at work here... the almost pop vocals with the intricate music underneath is fire!
This song got me emotional, have to be 100% honest and I don't know why. The power of beautiful music. WOW ... I have to re listen to it later. But truly enjoyed it all the way. @tankthetech keep up the good work.
They're evolving as a band as I see it.. and they should not be afraid to do that and create out of their comfort zone. If you stagnate writing and singing the same stuff you're probably going suffer creatively and mentally. What a great song and video👌🏻
This is a very cool song. Even in its heavy sections it retains a nice chill vibe. I could easily see this going into my music library. I *want* music that spans all moods and styles, with a premium on how well it's composed and performed. There's some amazing stuff I listen to with screams and distortion everywhere. There's equally amazing stuff with clean instruments and voices. And every combination between. Bring on the music of all sorts, I'm here for it all!
You're awesome, Tank. Sub'ing. It's just amazing how much emotion their music draws out. It's so damn refreshing and it just feels good. Like every song has a different feel and I almost like some songs more than others just depending on how I feel. Something about this song was cutting onions around me too. I can't wait to see them in Houston in Feb '22.
By now, I've been listening to Spiritbox just on your and Chase's reactions, the band had not really caught my attention, but now, I'm starting to feel a bit more interested. I get why you see this as taking a risk, but personally, I really enjoy when bands go a little bit "off the path". I really appreciate that versatility. Hope we get the chance to see some live or studio performance of this in the future! Thanks for the video, Tank! See you in the next one!
Wow, nice, I hadn't heard anything else from Spiritbox. I went back and hit the other stuff and on the pre-order! Agreed on the mix of style, looking forward to the full release. Thanks Tank!
I can go from Slaughter To Prevail to a song like this no problem. I think this band like you said is like a gateway band to entice people that think metal is all scary and bad to be more open to it. I would find them stale if all they did was release songs like Holy Roller. They are something special.
Facts! I’m so glad they bring such a variety of sounds to their songs so it doesn’t feel like the same song over and over. It sets them apart and I love that. They certainly are a band that can bridge so many gaps and open so many people up to metal in the most amazing way
Very true, but the thing with Spiritbox is that they can be this type of song but also be super heavy in other songs. It's a very very drastic range for a band! From constance to holy roller.
I feel the exact same way as you man. Circle with Me was the first song I heard from them and I was instantly hooked. I’ve listened to all of their music now and no band has impressed me as quickly as they have. Album of the year!!!
That was a beautiful song. That guitar work was so intricate that I actually found it very fatiguing. I think this might be one of those songs you need to really be in the right mindset to listen to and appreciate properly. It's good to get your opinion and extra notes as always to really, truly appreciate all the effort that goes on behind the scenes.
Spiritbox fans: Yea we love the heavy stuff and that's what we want! Spritbox: Yea don't put us in a box. Not that this isn't heavy, it is very heavy. It's just a different kind of heavy and it's awesome.
Hey tank, its my first time ever watching you. I just wanted to point out that i like Fallen album you have sitting back there. One of my favs by Evanescence and i feel its a solid album even today
I think maybe some of not alienating fans has to do with expectation-setting. Like… many metalheads really enjoy diverse sounds and approaches IF the artist has set the expectation with them of “yeah, this is part of who I am and what I do.” Like it’s more about the feeling of integrity rather than the actual sonic landscape. Maybe that’s giving some people too much credit. But I think Spiritbox are setting these expectations right from the start, which is brave and probably also smart. Now of course if they start releasing party anthems instead of emotionally wrenching music, fans will be like WTF
I am not a Spiritbox fan, but I actually really liked the clean vocals on this one. The overall vibe is very pleasant. I know I've been putting a lot of stuff down recently, but that's just because I really love your content. You're a cool and chill dude, you get giddy 'bout the things I do too and especially your love for Folk Metal and epic shit! I want to put something down that a lot of people probably don't know, maybe aside from other reactors, and that is a band I absolutely adore by the name of Whispered. They are a Finnish Melo-Death band with Samurai and other Japanese influences. One of their best songs (imo) is "Kensei", but if you would rather see a music video, "Strike!" is the way to go. I love Japanese stuff, Vikings, everything mythological, so I wanted to share. If you love traditional Japanese instruments, I could also recommend Wagakki Band, if haven't seen them yet. Lil side note dude. These aren't necessarily reaction requests. Just me wanting to share what I love ^^
Tank - I love the change up with you just listening to and enjoying a great song. Maybe you should do this a little more often. Equipment breakdowns are great, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the 🎶🎤🎸🥁
Nothing like their heavier stuff indeed. Do I mind? Hell no, I loved this! ♥ They should keep on hitting that downslope of that rollercoaster 🎢. Great reaction.
Btw anyone who has so far enjoyed jinjer and spiritbox, i really recommend checking out eths. Loved that band for years and they basically have a lot in common with jinjer, its also pretty much metalcore, but I rarely hear anyone ever mention eths. That band is pretty underrated, but worth checking out as well, both vocalists the band had Candice and Rachel had clean vocals and impressive growls, the songs Bulimiarexia, Crucifere and Harmaguedon imo are the ones i'd really recommend. I assume the band being french might be a reason why they aren't mentioned when ppl talk about female fronted metal bands where the women have serious pipes. Maybe not as technically mindblowing when live, but seriously good all the same.
Just purely curious if you’ve listened to their songs from their self titled ep and the singles collection. They’ve definitely refined their song writing for a more diverse audience but the newer songs still have the feel of those older songs. It’s like they’re pushing into the mainstream a little more but bringing their intricacies along with them and really everyone could benefit from that! Every song they’ve put out has been great!
Yeah this is one of the best newer bands, they haven't released a song I don't like yet. Their range is impressive and they evoke emotion in everyone of their songs.
I can't wait for this album. These guys are amazing and I'm so ready for it to drop. My only problem is I can't decide who I love more, Courtney and the boys or Tatiana and the boys from Jinjer 😅
Nice reaction, it's pleasant to watch someone puting right words to a spontaneous reaction. I'm very curious about your reaction on stuff like "Versailles - Faith & Decision"
This band reminds me of dir en grey in terms of playing awesome heavy songs, really great soft songs and both in the same track. I would like them to tour together.
To your point about the "risks" of not doing the same thing that people expect, in this case all heavy and harsh all the time, another channel-meister over at VoiceHacks was just talking about the virtues of juxtaposition, that in music if you don't put something extreme against something else it does not have much impact (nice timing). There's got to be contrast, otherwise it just gets routine. which is why people who insist their artists "dbn't change" amaze me. BTW, Mike just posted a guitar playthrough of Circle With Me over at the band's official channel, I have a feeling you may find it interesting.
I won't lie and say this is just as much a banger as most of their songs, but I really think this could fit in really well on the album. I want to see how the songs before and after it feel when you just listen to all of them together.
Hey there Tank, greetings from Portugal. Hope everything going good for you in this troubled times. O feel like i should try and plug in some portuguese metal bands. The band "Moonspell" is the most famous band around this parts, but the band i would like to see you react is a Greek metal band called Septicflesh. I think you are going to enjoy it very much. Thank you.
Spiritbox definitely pulled me back in with this track. I'm not one of those who only loves the heavy stuff (like Courtney said, variation is great) but I didn't gel with Circle With Me at all. I think that might be the most mediocre song they've put out. That being said, they're a great band and very talented musicians.
I've been waiting for you to react to this. I fell in love with it at first listen. [Edited to add] My fave to date is Blessed Be. Oh and did you catch Mike's play through of Circle with me on their channel? It's awesome
Tank, you mentioned on your Circle With Me reaction that Mike was playing a Tosin Abasi guitar (maybe just for the video aesthetic). The guitar riffs and tone during the verses here gave me some VERY heavy Tosin vibes. Do you think Mike was playing the Tosin signature on this one?
Probably not, because I saw Courtney say in a Tweet that that Abasi guitar was a loaner for the video, so all the recording was probably done before he got it.
Great reaction as usual! Thanks for the daily content man If u didnt hear the song "The Ghost Inside - Aftermath", i'd love to see your reaction to it, its a banger and with the vid pretty emotional aswell
I'm currently unimpressed with this song, but it will probably change ;) I'm slowly falling deeper in love with Spiritbox. Reaction peer pressure strikes again ;)
Spiritbox are a very hit and miss band for me, while I love Rule of Nines and Blessed Be, songs like Holy Roler and Circle with Me I've found boring. This was excellent, right up there with RoN, has a very Animals as Leaders feel to it.
"Holy Roller sits in the garden we fled...." ;) Can't get enough of Spiritbox, also got that lovely vinyl preorder! Btw, I think you would really love VEXED! th-cam.com/video/t5avd1Bh5BU/w-d-xo.html
These guys don’t miss, and Eternal Blue will reshape the core scene. Calling it now. Great reaction buddy 👏🏻

It’s emotionally heavy just like Constance.

I love the diversity of this Band. They are in a league of their own. Cant wait for them to Tour and take the Big Stages by Storm
Hey tank, its my first time ever watching you. I just wanted to point out that i like Fallen album you have sitting back there. One of my favs by Evanescence and i feel its a solid album even today
This has the same feel of their songs Trust Fall and Perennial.
Yeah perennial was my gateway to them and remains my favourite song of theirs.
Trust Fall is one of my favorites!
I always say these 2 & "Everything's Eventual" all are underrated/go under people's radar.
Perennial is one of their best songs. Fight me.
Perennial and definitely Trust Fall still have a clear element of heavyness to them, even if they have more clean vocals
Beautiful song. She has a great voice. Brutal and this.

September 17th can't come soon enough!

It's an older track, but I think you'd dig The Mara Effect Live at Silverside Sound video - it's a studio recording, a long one but well worth it!

No worries. There are songs that I now love that took me multiple listens to really get into them.
Worries? Nah 😉 I need second and third listen with almost every song
i am pretty sure that every single fan of spiritbox like this heavy or not
Also Baby Yaga Drum Playthrough

As always a great Video, you should really listen to "Caliban - We are the Many"
Have you heard Elán by Nightwish yet? If not, it's definitely worth listening to. A1 for sure
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Tank at the start of the song: Horses!
That’s been known to happen in other videos I’ve done, too. 😂
@@TankTheTech you love to see it lol. Hope you and the family are doing well :)
Check out Alluvial- 40 Stories
Spiritbox are a very hit and miss band for me, while I love Rule of Nines and Blessed Be, songs like Holy Roler and Circle with Me I've found boring. This was excellent, right up there with RoN, has a very Animals as Leaders feel to it.
Will you do the guitar Playthrough Reactions?!
Yeah, I plan on it.
"Holy Roller sits in the garden we fled...." ;)
Can't get enough of Spiritbox, also got that lovely vinyl preorder!
Btw, I think you would really love VEXED! th-cam.com/video/t5avd1Bh5BU/w-d-xo.html
Glad for variation, being a one trick pony will take you so far. A real musician/artist needs to be able to explore all things
Please React To HammerFall - Heeding The Call live at lisebergshallen 2003
Tank you have to try one of the try not to headbang challenges that'd be a fun watch. 😅
I’ve done 2 of them already. Haha
@@TankTheTech Well then! I've got some digging/watching to do! 🤣🤣
Dude, you need to check out VOLA - head mounted sideways.......it’s fuckin sick. Amazing band.
