The easiest way to make sure it's centered is to measure and mark the center on the strip. Then mark the center on the grill. Start from the middle and work you way toward the ends.
I have a Refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 RST. I installed this recently on my truck and maybe can help someone out there who may have some questions on this install with the same truck. Firstly I installed it on the actual hood of the truck in front of the weather strip(just my preference). You cannot see the light at all from installing it in this location(tape the light itself almost dead even to slightly proud of the edge of the hood). I ran the wires through the hood and grounded it to the negative battery terminal with a crimped electrical eyelet. The positive(red/hot wire) I ran to the engine fuse panel and used a fuse tap into fuse #28 (Park Lamp Mirror/Grill) using a micro2 5 amp fuse. The light draws about 2 amps so you don't need anything above 5 amps. When installing the fuse tap(install factory fuse on the bottom then the new fuse where the wire is part is) pay attention to the way you pull out the fuse from the panel, you will want to install the new fuse tap in the same direction. The orientation does matter so the spades should all be following in the correct direction.(watch a fuse tap video if you are unclear of what I mean.) It can potentially cause electrical issues if you do not have this orientation correct even though it will "work" either way you put it in. Those of you who have this truck know that when you hit the unlock button there is factory dynamic light show with the blinkers. When using fuse #28 the led light strip WILL activate as well when you unlock the doors in-sync with the front blinkers. The dynamic LED light will NOT stay on constant with just the DRLs on during the day. When the head lights are on at night the LED light will do its automation when the truck is started and stay illuminated until you shut the truck off. Hope this helps!
@@chinos450ify I did not make a video. I just commented on this gentleman’s video since people seem to be asking about other vehicles that he doesn’t have. If you follow his basic install, mine was similar other than attaching it to the hood itself. I layed out the fuse that I feel is what most people would want to happen when having this type of light.
I watched this video a few months back, I didn't have the LED light then, I just thought the video looked interesting. Then this morning this LED strip turned up cheap on a Facebook ad, so I grabbed one. Then I searched for this video again. I really love how you explained those wire connectors. Sure it seems simple, but I like how you mentioned that you've seen things before that explained something and it made your life easier and of course everyone has to start somewhere. Call me old fashioned, but I thought that was pretty cool. Now I can't wait for my light to get here so I can have a crack at this. I got a new 2023 Ram about 6 months ago and it's white, so this video checks all the boxes! Thanks for such a simple video. truck looks awesome!
Man love the video and just ordered everything for my 2023 ram 1500 I got. You made this look so easy I said man I can do that! Doing it with the blue to match the blue vinyl on the RAM grill 🙌🙌🙌 Thank you and following for more
Great job on this video, and great truck you have! I just received my LED strip for my Nissan Pathfinder 2024. Quick question....within the fuse box, which fuse outlet would I use? Thanks for your help!
Looks great I'll be doing this with my Ram shortly. My only suggestion would be to do a better negative connection to the battery terminal. over time it could loosen. If you take it in for a repair and they need to diagnose the electrical system they would probably forget to reattach it. Over all 9.5/10!
Does it not already have the double-sided tape installed on the light strip? Then you just peel it from the centre after you mark the centre of your hood grill and then remove the tape and slowly stick it to your upper hood grill?
Rather than duct tape, which will deteriorate, as it gets exposed to weather, why not use either heat shrink tape or marine grade heat shrink tubing (which has an adhesive and will give a waterproof seal)? They both come in black and give a professional look to an installation.
I have a 24 Ram 1500 and am trying to install this light strip. I can't plus the fuse tap in the location you did because I have 2 relays that wouldn't allow me too. Where else can I tap into?
Definitely one of the better video walk-thrus I’ve seen, so thank you for that. I’m curious what fuse you chose to use. I have one of these strips for my Colorado and I’m admittedly not that “auto savvy”. I assumed I’d put it in my headlight fuse (and I still may), but that is in a separate fuse block inside the cab. Thanks in advance for the advice…
Thank you bro! So when I purchased some grille lights in the past the company gave me a wiring diagram on what fuse to use when connecting them so they turn on and off with the truck. I’m not sure where else you could do it but I would imagine anything spliced to the drls, headlights should work just fine.
Firefighter Buell I wonder if the WHITE strip no matter how far back you tuck it along the lip will be visible during the day against a BLACK truck. I have yet to see one of these lights on a black truck
Because you’re adding more electronics to the circuit so in order to keep the integrity of the original fuse you add another to prevent it from blowing. Could have gotten away with a smaller one but it’s what I went with.
Love your truck 1st off but I have a question what 2 fuses are u exactly putting into the fuse tap what are both the # of the fuses and what do both fuses do like are those the fuses for headlights or daytime running light fuses
Love the video, buying because of it. Question, jow did you get your lihht to do that on initial start? Also, do you have sequential lighting and is if aftermarket?
hi i was installing these lights on my truck today using the same fuse F38. but in my fuse box i have got another fuse i.e F39 above F38 so i couldnt insert fuse tap there. so i decided to use trailer camera fuse i.e F44. now the LED dynamic lights working fine but i got 2 problems. First, when my truck starts the headlights wont turn on in the daylight, which they used to do, Second, my remote starter has stopped working, it works sometimes but most of the times it wouldnt. do you know what would be reason for this?
Use a tape measure, find the middle of the strip's length, find the middle of the grille, stick the middle of the strip to the middle of the grille and work your way out to the left and right sides. This will guarantee you have the same amount of room on each end 😉
Great vid, thanks. Recently bought a beautiful '19 Longhorn 5th Gen. I might add this light strip. I would want it to come on when running daylight DRL's, and stay on at night too. Looks like it would do both as you have wired. When running DRL-only, if you hit flash-to-pass (pull back on turn signal stem), does the light bar go on and and off (using that very cool startup sequence), or does it just stay on?
Awesome congrats on the new truck! These light strips anytime they receive power will do the startup sequence. So yes it will give you that sequence if you wire it that way.
@FirefighterBuell Finally found an options tab. Goes up to 95". I rather have too much than not enough so I'll measure and cut off what I don't need hoping it still works.
I removed after about 6 months. It had a little issue on the end of the light where it started to fade out. I was already over the look anyways and decided to remove it and move on.
Clean truck!! Just tried installing and hood won’t shut. 2020 Laramie 1500 5th gen. Seems the weather strip on the hood is in the way. Any suggestions?

Hello my brother . I want to ask if there is another fuse to connect with the led wire . So we can open or turn it off (the led ) with headlight switch . Now there is no way to turn off the led During the morning, it's open when ever you started the RAM
You don’t have to have it connected to a fuse. You can buy a controller and just wire it with a relay from the battery to the switch to turn it on and off when you want to. Other than that I’m not sure what other fuse you could use for what you’re trying to do.
Instead of starting at the left or right you should’ve started in the center. Mark the center of the light strip, mark the center of the truck, line up the 2 lines and go from there. No packing tape needed. 👍🏼

Fuse add a circuit? Is that the pig tail he used ? I notice the fuse that he suggested will not work with mine since right next to the f38 I have another one and I wouldn’t be able to use the pig tail . Little help thanks
Ive watched many install videos on this light. Youre only the 2nd to use a fuse tap. Most others wrap around the blade or stuff in the hole of the fuse block. Has everything worked as expected since making this vid. Thx.
@@FirefighterBuell You will not be installing? meaning you've found the longevity on these stink? and its not worth replacing every couple months? or you just got tired of it?
@dougd8548 yes after about 6 months a part of it started to go out. For the price I wouldn’t mind replacing it with a new one every so often but it started to look a little tacky to me after a while.
@@FirefighterBuellwell that’s a bummer I was just about install mine now . Have you ever found another set that would work better ? I might just not give it a shot after all …😮
Also on the strip it kind of doesn’t say which is the front or back . You have to pretty much plug them in to figure out ; before it gets taped on the truck .. 😮
My relay switch butts right up to the pigtail not allowing me to place it there. The other 15 fuse has constant power. What else can be done to get this completed?
If the pigtail won’t fit you can always do what many others do and just wrap the fuse prongs with the wire and place it in. Otherwise I’m not sure if maybe there’s smaller pigtails or maybe different shaped pigtails. Let me know what you find.
Great video and awesome looking truck! I was looking into this, but I have an old truck. But looking at this seems like it should be a no brainer! Thank you so much for the list for the connectors! I have seen a few wire taps and fuse piggy backs and more confident in getting these now. I enjoyed the install and I could clearly follow what you did. Yes it's a simple install, but you made it enjoyable! Like it should be! Props man. And thanks for being a Fireman!
Awesome looking Ram. I'm formerly St. Louis FD/EMS, I also have a white Ram 1500. After seeing yours, I think I'll do this too. You posted this video 7 mo ago and I was wondering how the lights are holding up?
Awesome thank you for your service! The light strip lasted a good 5 months and then had a little section that stopped working. For the price not too bad. I wouldn’t purchase it looking for a long term mod though.
Hey, great video just ordered myself the light strip and parts! Wondering tho, when you put it on the grill i cant see really but when you close your hood does the rubber weather strip on the hood sit on top of the light strip, or does the light strip sit in front of the hood weather strip?
Good work, man - extremely informative. Truck looks awesome. Please, keep us updated if this holds up. I've heard a ton of horror stories about them failing in a short period. I'm not sure if this is due to the lack of weather resistance - but I may order it and do my best to water proof it. I'm curious if I'd be able to make it work lining it up with the lower portion to align with the headlight DRL's.. Appreciate it!
Thank you brother! So far so good! I’ve actually thought about buying another and experimenting with them. Someone mentioned mounting one over the running boards. For $30 you can get pretty creative.
Love your truck 1st off but I have a question what 2 fuses are u exactly putting into the fuse tap what are both the # of the fuses and what do both fuses do like are those the fuses for headlights or daytime running light fuses
Should these be wired to accessory/ignition. Or when your headlights turn on. Didn’t know if you should run them constantly or just when it gets darker out ?
That’s a decision you’d have to make. You can even wire them to a switch if you’d like. I just had it wired to a fuse that would turn it on every time the truck was turned on.
Why did you add TWO fuses to that fuse holder? Also, you bought the 70” LED strip, how did you know you wouldn’t have too much left over at the finish end? Or that you’d even have enough to get to the finish?
I found someone who purchased the 70” with my truck and they told me it fit perfectly. I taped it down to see where to start and finish as well. You could probably get away with just a 15amp fuse but I doubled up so it doesn’t blow when adding more components to it.
So ur headlights had to of been custom painted the only ones they make r with the chrome projector housing and the blinker has been tinted from the inside ??

Ive watched many install videos on this light. Youre only the 2nd to use a fuse tap. Most others wrap around the blade or stuff in the hole of the fuse block. Has everything worked as expected since making this vid. Thx.
Everything has worked great. Until about 2 months ago a portion of the light strip didn’t work. They sent me a new one which I will not be installing
Always use a proper termination. Bare wire “works,” but is not secure long term.
I appreciate your feedback tremendously! Thanks a lot brother and glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏼
Looks amazing. Great step by step!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching
I can not find the correct fuse for my 2019 2500 dodge other than into the backup camera fuse. I wanted for it to turn on as i open the door.
You mean as you unlock the truck?
@@FirefighterBuell yes that also
How did you figure out which fuse to tap into so the lights only come on with the ignition???
A couple years ago I ordered some LEDs and the instructions showed to tap that fuse
Hi, do you have links to the connectors pls.
Yes it’s all located in the description 👍🏼
What was the second fuse you used for the pig tail in the fire box?
Just add a 5amp to account for the new device and you should be fine
Why are you adding an additional fuse to the 15?
I added a 5amp fuse because I added more electrical components drawing power.
Did both sides of the LED strip have a red protective cover from the tape? What did you do about the top red tape. It looked aweful after install.
I just made sure I tucked the led strip under as much as possible. Mine wasn’t too bad
What fuse do I use on the F150 2021 because I cannot figure it out
I’m not sure with the f150s. I’ve never installed one on them
Awesome looking Ram.
Thanks man! You have to line it up so it sits on top but doesn’t cover it completely. You want to make sure it’s even all the way across
@@FirefighterBuellok so the led light and weather stripping on the hood do touch together, does the hood still close easily as well?
Nice, that’s only a white LED not the RGB color light right . Need to know how to use the app and control the starting light mode .
Yes just plain white
I have a 2019 dodge challenger. I am unsure what fuse to connect it to. What did the 15 Amp fuse go to that you replaced?
I’m honestly not sure when it comes to the challenger sorry bro
How well has the 3m tape been keeping this stuck down 1 year later? Especially the dip in the middle?
Well mine had an issue after 7 months so it was removed
Where did you get the red tow hooks? Only ones in red I can find is Amazon.
Actually bought the black ones on Amazon used in good condition and painted them the red I wanted
What kind & what size of fuse did you use? I have 2020 F150
I couldn’t tell you which to use for an f150 but I used f38 which activates with ignition
Love your truck 1st off but I have a question what 2 fuses are u exactly putting into the fuse tap what are both the # of the fuses and what do both fuses do like are those the fuses for headlights or daytime running light fuses
Thank you bro!! It comes factory with a 10amp fuse. I usually just double it. They are not connected to lights. The fuse is DTCM/ACT CL TEMP VLV
So 2 10 amp fuses? I'm curious as well. What size the yellow and blue fuses are. Thanks for the video bro.
Quick question boss about your hood light strip when you did install it did you have a problem with your hood not closing
No problems
Hi what fuse do i need to remove on a 2017 GMC Sierra?
I’m not sure to be honest with you
Should these be wired to accessory/ignition. Or when your headlights turn on. Didn’t know if you should run them constantly or just when it gets darker out ?
That’s a decision you’d have to make. You can even wire them to a switch if you’d like. I just had it wired to a fuse that would turn it on every time the truck was turned on.
so they come on every time you turn on the car? is there a way they can come on with your fog lights?
You would have to tap into your fog light power
Where did you get those umpa lumpa gloves
They are just medical gloves 😂
How's it holding up 8 months later? Thinking about adding it to my 23 Ram.
Lasted about 6 months before a little section of it stopped working
@@FirefighterBuelldid u get a new one?
I have a 2016 f150 I need help finding what fues to tap into pls help
Just try different ones. It won’t hurt it
Why did you add TWO fuses to that fuse holder? Also, you bought the 70” LED strip, how did you know you wouldn’t have too much left over at the finish end? Or that you’d even have enough to get to the finish?
I found someone who purchased the 70” with my truck and they told me it fit perfectly. I taped it down to see where to start and finish as well. You could probably get away with just a 15amp fuse but I doubled up so it doesn’t blow when adding more components to it.
So ur headlights had to of been custom painted the only ones they make r with the chrome projector housing and the blinker has been tinted from the inside ??
They have a tint strip on the outside of the lens
I have an 2023 Nissan frontier, where do I plug lights?
Honestly couldn’t tell you man sorry
Nice Vid man! Nice Truck! Do you have a lift kit or is it just leveled? Also, what rims and tires do you have?
Kenda Klever RT 35x12.5r20, Black Rhino Arsenals 20x12 -44, 3.5” Readylift
Very nice and very beautiful Ram you got there buddy!
Appreciate it and thanks for watching!
