I have a Refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 RST. I installed this recently on my truck and maybe can help someone out there who may have some questions on this install with the same truck. Firstly I installed it on the actual hood of the truck in front of the weather strip(just my preference). You cannot see the light at all from installing it in this location(tape the light itself almost dead even to slightly proud of the edge of the hood). I ran the wires through the hood and grounded it to the negative battery terminal with a crimped electrical eyelet. The positive(red/hot wire) I ran to the engine fuse panel and used a fuse tap into fuse #28 (Park Lamp Mirror/Grill) using a micro2 5 amp fuse. The light draws about 2 amps so you don't need anything above 5 amps. When installing the fuse tap(install factory fuse on the bottom then the new fuse where the wire is part is) pay attention to the way you pull out the fuse from the panel, you will want to install the new fuse tap in the same direction. The orientation does matter so the spades should all be following in the correct direction.(watch a fuse tap video if you are unclear of what I mean.) It can potentially cause electrical issues if you do not have this orientation correct even though it will "work" either way you put it in. Those of you who have this truck know that when you hit the unlock button there is factory dynamic light show with the blinkers. When using fuse #28 the led light strip WILL activate as well when you unlock the doors in-sync with the front blinkers. The dynamic LED light will NOT stay on constant with just the DRLs on during the day. When the head lights are on at night the LED light will do its automation when the truck is started and stay illuminated until you shut the truck off. Hope this helps!
I have a trail boss 2020, did you make a video?
@@chinos450ify I did not make a video. I just commented on this gentleman’s video since people seem to be asking about other vehicles that he doesn’t have. If you follow his basic install, mine was similar other than attaching it to the hood itself. I layed out the fuse that I feel is what most people would want to happen when having this type of light.
@@user-qg4lw6tg1swhat fuse number did you connected to?
🤔 You did well for yourself but you left out some very important information that others should know! You failed to tell them about tapping into the ACC fuse so that the strip only lights up when you start the car!
What does this mean. Could you explain, please?
He showed exactly what fuse to tap in to, on most 1500's the ACC fuse isnt in the external fuse box, he used the ATMM fuse, which I believe is F38 on the 1500.
This video isn't just a Dodge video, so an explanation of what type of fuse would be useful tbh.
He showed the fused he just didn't show or tell you the name of the location
I also watched other video with exactly same product and it says for different fuse location. Which one is better i am confuse

I love Trucks! I am sure most of your subscribers are male, but for this girl I love fixing up my ride too! great Tutorial.
That’s amazing!! You might be one of one lol thank you for stopping by and commenting!
The easiest way to make sure it's centered is to measure and mark the center on the strip. Then mark the center on the grill. Start from the middle and work you way toward the ends.
Great idea!
79in looks better, it goes almost all the way on top of headlights. Corners are pretty easy to fit inside.
Do you have a picture of the 79 on your truck? Now I’m debating which one to get
I don't know how to attached the picture to TH-cam. Strip just longer and goes to the end of the headlight.
@@st.s.3339 let me see your truck with the 79in on it
Prove it big dog
Let's see the 79 bro bro
Good work, man - extremely informative. Truck looks awesome. Please, keep us updated if this holds up. I've heard a ton of horror stories about them failing in a short period. I'm not sure if this is due to the lack of weather resistance - but I may order it and do my best to water proof it. I'm curious if I'd be able to make it work lining it up with the lower portion to align with the headlight DRL's..
Appreciate it!
Thank you brother! So far so good! I’ve actually thought about buying another and experimenting with them. Someone mentioned mounting one over the running boards. For $30 you can get pretty creative.
Beginner Questions: Where did you put fuse number 15? What is that fuse for? Is it important?
Nice Vid man! Nice Truck! Do you have a lift kit or is it just leveled? Also, what rims and tires do you have?
great video bro ! what fuse in the fuse box should i use for a silverado 2009 1500 ?
You doing surgery?? Gloves and extra 3m and fuse cable lol great job keep up the good work 😂
😂 I have so many gloves and my girl hates when I have dirt under my nails lol
Always use a proper termination. Bare wire “works,” but is not secure long term.
Great video. You should have used painters tape. It's easy on the truck paint and easy to remove afterwards.
Great idea. I used it later in the video. That definitely would have helped at the beginning too!
Only see a 59” and 79” available, you say you have a 70” for your ram?
Can you please put the link to your headlights in the comments? I have the same lights just reflector leds and I need to upgrade to these projectors asap. Would be greatly appreciated!!!!
I e been through two now. Neither has lasted more than a week or so. Sections of the strip went out.
Awesome looking Ram. I'm formerly St. Louis FD/EMS, I also have a white Ram 1500. After seeing yours, I think I'll do this too. You posted this video 7 mo ago and I was wondering how the lights are holding up?
Awesome thank you for your service! The light strip lasted a good 5 months and then had a little section that stopped working. For the price not too bad. I wouldn’t purchase it looking for a long term mod though.
Egh im trying to find the best place on a 2012 dodge charger im about to try them all
Why not start in the middle with it marked on the lights that way it would be even on each end ..SMMFH
What’s the difference if it’s marked?
So it'll be the same at each end .
Very nice job- very simple install...Thanks
Budget? It’s the most expensive led strip on Amazon, by 3x’s it’s 71.68 on amazon when all the rest are 35-40. Plus the other ones come with fuse adapters.
Video is over a year old my brother. It was $29 when I purchased it
awesome video but quick question what number was the yellow fuse that you used.?
I already had a 15 in there from before and just doubled it.
I have a question. I just did this and I am a little concern on how the hood closes. I have to close my hook harder because of the rubber seal on the hood itself. Did you run into this problem?
Nope. I have zero issues closing the hood with this
Hey, are your led headlights aftermarket? If so, which brand?
Yes the are Vland Matrix headlights that are custom blacked out.
What is the name of fuse 15 you use i got a 2014 is not the same fuse box i got Thank you
The fuse is DTCM/ACT CL TEMP VLV
@@FirefighterBuell Thank you
Just wondering yours have a 15 amp fuse and my 2020 ram 1500 has a 10 amp fuse. Weird 🤷🏻♂️
It had a 10 I changed it in the past
How well has the 3m tape been keeping this stuck down 1 year later? Especially the dip in the middle?
Well mine had an issue after 7 months so it was removed
Hi, do you have links to the connectors pls.
Yes it’s all located in the description 👍🏼
Definitely one of the better video walk-thrus I’ve seen, so thank you for that.
I’m curious what fuse you chose to use. I have one of these strips for my Colorado and I’m admittedly not that “auto savvy”. I assumed I’d put it in my headlight fuse (and I still may), but that is in a separate fuse block inside the cab. Thanks in advance for the advice…
Thank you bro! So when I purchased some grille lights in the past the company gave me a wiring diagram on what fuse to use when connecting them so they turn on and off with the truck. I’m not sure where else you could do it but I would imagine anything spliced to the drls, headlights should work just fine.
@@FirefighterBuell are your lights under the rubber piece form the bottom of hood are out in front of that
Not really sure what your question is
ACC fuse
You keeping your car super clean, well done and thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!!!
i have a ram 1500 laramie hemi 5.7 L
I have a 2002 dodge ram longhorn just curious what Alpha to get whats the difference betbeen halogen and led
What alpha to get?
It's been a year since this video was made. Any issues to report? Longevity of the lighting system as good now as when brand new?
I removed after about 6 months. It had a little issue on the end of the light where it started to fade out. I was already over the look anyways and decided to remove it and move on.
Hi, I like your content. I'm Elsa from American Modified. Do you accept sponsored products?
I sure do. My email is in my Bio 👍🏼
@@FirefighterBuell Hi, have sent you an email
I burned 3 of thoese strip, for all 3 the fuses were ok but the strips stopped to work after few days from the installation...
Sorry to hear that man. I hear it’s pretty hit or miss
Are them aftermarket headlights? Absolutely love them. Do you feel the 3m tape is better then what comes with the light? Truck is sweet!!😎😎
Thank you brother! Yes they are custom Vland Matrix headlights and the 3m definitely helps. I didn’t trust what it came with.
@@FirefighterBuell how is the light pattern? Plug and play?
That’s too clean I’m definitely getting this for mine 🔥🔥
Appreciate that brother 🤙🏼
I want your headlights. I have a 2020 1500 RAM.
They have already been sold
Light turns yellowish after 4 months I guess that’s way there so cheap easy to replace just cut wire and install new strips
Yea it’s weird some people have that issue some don’t. I dont know where you’re located maybe it’s the pollen in the air 🤷🏻♂️
Light strip looks cool but failed in one month. Return it and they send me another one and failed again. Not worth it.
Man sorry to hear that. Mine went strong for 6 months and now has a spot where it doesn’t light up. They sent me a new one with no issues
I just recently installed these and they don’t seem to be as bright as yours. Do you know if it’s something with my wiring or did I just get a bad product? I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie and used most of the same materials as you. Thanks.
I’m not sure brother! I didn’t do anything special. If they do not seem bright I would exchange it to see if you get one that’s brighter.
I figured it out, idk if I didn’t read the directions right or just don’t know what I’m doing but only 1 side of the light was bring and I had it facing the wrong way, I flipped it around and it was as bright as yours and looks awesome. Your vid helped a ton for the the install!
Awesome!! Happy to hear that! Enjoy it!
Yeah I had to figured out which side was the front before installing it .. I’m still hesitant about using them since I’m hearing bad inputs about lasting . I mean for the price I guess I might give it a shot . If anyone find a better one . Share that info … thanks
Can you give me an update on it?
I just installed this today and it looks great but, why is it I have to push the shut off button 2x to shut the truck off?
I’m not sure honestly
Can you add the fuse connectors and blue twist connectors that you got on amazon please
They are in the description 👍🏼
Man love the video and just ordered everything for my 2023 ram 1500 I got. You made this look so easy I said man I can do that! Doing it with the blue to match the blue vinyl on the RAM grill 🙌🙌🙌 Thank you and following for more
Love to hear it bro! Thanks for the follow I got a lot more coming 🫡
@@FirefighterBuell cannot wait to see more 🤘🤘
Dis you have a problem with the weather strip under the hood? Did you need to remove it? Was it damaged from the light?
No issues at all. I left it there
I have the blue one on my 2019 chevy. I also put 2 blue led light strips on the bottom of my grill as well. I wish I could post a video comment, so that way I could should you...I think it looks really good...
Dang sounds great! Wish I could see it
I looked you up in Instagram and sent you a video lol
I bought it, but it doesn't work with a bug deflector. Bummer
Yea unfortunately there’s not much space
Garbage product. Only last a month at the most. Gone through 3 units already
Sorry to hear man. Yea mine just started having an issue too
I have halogens but i also have amber LED lighta in my bug deflector so i really don't need this
Clean truck!! Just tried installing and hood won’t shut. 2020 Laramie 1500 5th gen. Seems the weather strip on the hood is in the way. Any suggestions?
You just have to position it correctly. It seems like a hit or miss depending on how well you line it up
@@FirefighterBuell appreciate it.
Why you put two fuse ? Can you explain that? Thanks
Because you’re adding more electronics to the circuit so in order to keep the integrity of the original fuse you add another to prevent it from blowing. Could have gotten away with a smaller one but it’s what I went with.
The one you took out from you fuse box, you put it in the fuse circuit tap (15amp) and add a 20amp one im right?
You can get away with two 10s
Love your truck 1st off but I have a question what 2 fuses are u exactly putting into the fuse tap what are both the # of the fuses and what do both fuses do like are those the fuses for headlights or daytime running light fuses
You showed that you plugged into a 15 amp fuse but you did not say what it was that you plugged into.
It’s F38
What if it’s not a 15 my fuse is a 10 I tried putting a 15 and 20 like you did but it didn’t even turn on not sure
You’ll need to use a different fuse location then
I have a 2016 f150 I need help finding what fues to tap into pls help
Just try different ones. It won’t hurt it
I have a ram 1500 laramie hemi 5.7 L
What was that fuse to? Tail lights?
I don’t remember exactly. But if you pull your fuse cover it’s f38
@@FirefighterBuell I drive a Nissan it's probably different? Or are they all the same? Don't know much about fuses
What was the second fuse you used for the pig tail in the fire box?
Just add a 5amp to account for the new device and you should be fine
Phenom job pleyahh. I'm gonna attempt this again on my 24' Reb. Last time I phkt it up and erased my computer some in the Rebel and Dodge had to reprogram my coach. The Blue 15amp fuse you pointed to right next to 13748474 block correct? Please help me brah
Honestly not sure what you’re asking lol
My headlights are ice blue don't know what color to get?
Well blue lights can have you pulled over where I live so I’d go white but if the blue one matches yours go for it 👍🏼
Do you have to remove the weather stripping from the hood for everything to fit in?
No you do not if you position it right
Hi what fuse do i need to remove on a 2017 GMC Sierra?
I’m not sure to be honest with you
I have a AVS bug deflector that came on my 2022 ram 3500. Can I add this or do I gotta take deflector off?
Almost positive it has to come off
@@FirefighterBuell 😞😞😞
Nice video and install. Been thinking about getting that for my Ram. Another question for you. Where’d you get the white outlines for the RAM on the front grill?
Thanks bro. They are actually gloss black with white outlines. Reflective concepts sells them.
Awesome video. What fuse did you connect to? Also, besides the 15 amp fuse, what other amp fuse did you have in the circuit tap?
F38. I already had a 15amp fuse in there from hooking something up previously. It comes with a 10 and you can just double it.
So is it the 70" in the video and the 79" is better?
I do not have experience with the 79”
You used the 15amp blue and a 20 amp yellow fuse?
I just double what was in there usually
Where did you get your headlamps from???
Purchased them second hand
Nice video the only thing is what fuse you remove
F38
I just installed this today and it looks great but, why is it I have to push the shut off button 2x to shut the truck off?
Looks like an LED strip should go on the bottom grill too
You could
Truck looks good but the light stripe looks used.. I would have not trusted the seller
hi i was installing these lights on my truck today using the same fuse F38. but in my fuse box i have got another fuse i.e F39 above F38 so i couldnt insert fuse tap there. so i decided to use trailer camera fuse i.e F44. now the LED dynamic lights working fine but i got 2 problems. First, when my truck starts the headlights wont turn on in the daylight, which they used to do, Second, my remote starter has stopped working, it works sometimes but most of the times it wouldnt. do you know what would be reason for this?
I wish I could help but I only have experience with the one fuse. Sorry man
You put 2 fuses in the tap. How you decided how much amp fuse is required in the fuse tap?
I’m having the same issue, ever find a solution???
I used 2 pieces 15amp fuse in the fuse tap, everything works well now.
Did you remove the gasket off of the hood or leave it on?
No sir
Why are you adding an additional fuse to the 15?
I added a 5amp fuse because I added more electrical components drawing power.
Curious if it holds up with rain/carwash?
Yes it did for some time
Does your come on when you hit the lock and unlock buttons? Mine will only come on when I start the truck.
Nope. Only when it’s started
Dude, I got mine on 1July and a quarter of the strip is out already. Have you had any issues?
Where did you get those umpa lumpa gloves
They are just medical gloves 😂
Great video brother! I just bought this for my 1500. looks too clean!
Thank you bro! Yea they are definitely a head turner!
@@FirefighterBuell can you tell me what was the fuse you tapped into? Thanks man!
F38
@@FirefighterBuell I have that one as a 10A (DTCM / ACT CL TEMP VLV) I haven't been able to locate any lighting related fuses except for towing
That is the correct fuse
How do you run the blinker version of these
I was unaware that there was a blinker version
You took the red backing tape off of one side but what did you do with thd other side? Isn’t it sticky as well?
On the double sided tape? You remove one end and stick it to the strip and then once you get it lined up you remove the other side while setting the strip in place. If you look closely you can see it in the video 👍🏼
@@FirefighterBuell I know you took the red backing off of one complete side to stick it on but on the other side of the tape it has the red backing as well covering more sticky backing. Since it is only sticking to your truck on one side did you leave the backing on the other side?
All red backings were removed in the process
Can you do this on a Volvo XC90 2019
Are you asking if it’s possible or it if I can attempt it?
Can I do 2 at same time one above grill and one below ?
Absolutely!
Lighting that serves no actual clearly defined purpose is just a waste or meant to feed the little pickle syndrome.
Definitely a comment I expect from a 49ers fan 😂 Please explain what doing anything to a vehicle has to do with your dill pickle?
@@FirefighterBuellHe apparently has a small pickle and has to piss on other people’s fun with it.
There is nothing wrong with adding a little customization to a vehicle. I think it looks great, and I like how it starts up when first turned on. Thanks for the video.
Might not even have a vehicle to customize 😂😂
Do they still work?
Failed after around 7 months
Could this work on a 5th gen 2500?
Yes
@@FirefighterBuell thank you sir
Great .tku
Shit go hard with those headlights bro!! I want that on mines!!
Appreciate it brother!
Just ordered one. If you have a bug shield that mounts to the fasteners under the hood theres no room for the lights to fit between the hood and grill
Yea I can see how that would definitely be a problem
Why didn't u show a clip at night
I have a few on my Instagram @goated.ram
Thanks! for the video your truck looks AWESOME!! You make it look so easy but I think I'm going to get someone to install for me. 🙂 I ordered from Amazon too in Canada it's supposed to be Silverholder but when I received it wasn't in a Silverholder box just a label that said Silverholder Dynamic White. Knock off from China.. I guess? Anyway, I'll give it a try. Excited to get it installed !!!☺
Hey thank you brother! Dynamic white is just the color. There’s a few options color wise you can choose from. I don’t see a problem in letting someone install it for you. Good luck!!
@@FirefighterBuell Thanks! for the reply bro I'm a sista btw...lol lol 😃😆That's ok though..lol 🙂 I feel like a kid about this I'm installing it on my Cadillac XT5 I bought myself for my Bday.. can't wait.. Have a Splendid Sunday!
😂😂 well darn! Shoulda checked before replying lol I think it will look great on a Cadillac!!
Great video thank you so much…QUESTION though….what fuse did you tap into??? I’m sure it’s in here but couldn’t find it…super nice pick up by the way
If I remember correctly it was f38
Firefighter Buell I wonder if the WHITE strip no matter how far back you tuck it along the lip will be visible during the day against a BLACK truck. I have yet to see one of these lights on a black truck
Further back you tuck it the weather strip starts to cover it. You have to be precise with the placement.
Looks great! Do you have any install videos for LED string lights in truck bed with on and off switch? I have a '24 Power Wagon
Hi, no sorry I rarely use my truck as a truck lol but if I start to I’ll look into bed lights. Thanks for watching!
Looks great I'll be doing this with my Ram shortly. My only suggestion would be to do a better negative connection to the battery terminal. over time it could loosen. If you take it in for a repair and they need to diagnose the electrical system they would probably forget to reattach it. Over all 9.5/10!
Appreciate you watching and thanks for the honesty 👍🏼
How do u know which fuse to tap into
Years ago I purchased some LEDs and the diagram had the fuse to tap in to. It’s the only reason I knew which one.
Just did this to my truck. Did exactly what you did in the video but now my back up camera isnt showing up/working. 😮
I’m honestly not sure why that could be. You’re the first one to message me with this problem. Have you figured it out?
Good Morning, I've got the lamp installed but can't seem to find a good connection point. With all the different possibilities in fuse configurations, I don't think my 2019 Ram Limited has that fuse. I've tried other fuses that didn't show hot with the truck off but the lamp comes on as soon as plugging in the double fuse tap wire. Any other suggestions?
Sorry brother! To be honest that’s the only fuse I’ve tried, I haven’t experimented with any others to be able to tell you what else would work.
Why did you add TWO fuses to that fuse holder? Also, you bought the 70” LED strip, how did you know you wouldn’t have too much left over at the finish end? Or that you’d even have enough to get to the finish?
I found someone who purchased the 70” with my truck and they told me it fit perfectly. I taped it down to see where to start and finish as well. You could probably get away with just a 15amp fuse but I doubled up so it doesn’t blow when adding more components to it.
Just added these but now I'm having issues with my remote start not engaging (I'm assuming the extra thickness of the light is causing the switch in the hood latch not to trigger. Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes available?
Haven’t heard anyone so far. Hopefully if someone has they respond
Should these be wired to accessory/ignition. Or when your headlights turn on. Didn’t know if you should run them constantly or just when it gets darker out ?
That’s a decision you’d have to make. You can even wire them to a switch if you’d like. I just had it wired to a fuse that would turn it on every time the truck was turned on.
Any feedback from incoming drivers or yourself to say the lights are too bright? I’ve got mine, about to apply but wanted to know if you or anyone had any thoughts.
I haven’t had any complaints and nobody has flashed me with their high beams. They are bright but not a beam of light if that makes any sense
