I've been doing my own setup since I bought the game. Didn't know much about the gearing though. Thanks to this video I found a couple things I was doing that I can do better now.
I like that rear end ratio setting, comes in handy for short tracks with tight cornering. Just raise the setting maybe one or two ratios depending on which track and it solves the need to use breaking when entering the sharp corners. It's like having a engine break. The only downside is higher engine rpms at high speeds so adjustment is track dependent. It works great for tracks like Bristol where cornering is right there nearly the entire time and straight aways don't last long enough to worry about.
Finally someone explains it to where it makes sense! Thank you so much. This will definitely help. I’ve only really known how to adjust my pit settings🤦🏻♂️😂 but again thank you!
Great job explaining everything but gears. I’m starting career and doing the dirt tracks and I’m just lost as to know what to start with in 1st, how to figure out 2nd and what the rearend should be and how that effects them.
Okay so this is the exact kinda guide I needed it seemed. Based off of this, I messed around with everything but bumps. It was the best feeling Daytona car I’ve driven. Then I adjusted the bump and hit 197 out the draft in testing. I said “Call me fuckin Chad Knous!”
@@ariesmotorsports4156 I had the understanding of what I wanted to do with the car but I just didn’t know what went to what so I could dial it in. Couple laps after watching this and understanding more, I can get em pretty close
i made a bit of a summary: bumps: how quickly road bumps enter the tyres, stiffer = quicker. rebound: how quickly road bumps leave the tyres, stiffer = quicker. Left weight: obvious Front weight: more front weight = more undetsteer. wedge: lower = looser car and vice versa, related to springs? idk front ride height: lower = faster corners rear ride height: same as front but also affects top speed, higher = slower but also more rear control front springs: lower = softer, more grip, less handling because lower weight distribution rear springs: same as front springs, softer also prevents you from spinning, tighter handles more weight while loosening the rear tyres: higher psi, higher top speeds, lower grip. Left side should grip more in ovals because duh, higher difference between the sides makes looser. Same applies to front and rear. Camber: low camber, tyres touches the ground more, increasing braking and grip on lower banks but turn in reduced. Too high and your tyres die. Positive angles the tyre to the right. front swaybar: lower = more front rotation, car may spin. track bars: lower on the left = looser. If too loose, increase right track bar. Keep them the same usually. brake bias: lower = looser under braking. grille tape: higher = more top speed and grip but your engine literally gets cooked wheel lock: steering reactions, lower = quicker reaction steering offset: more = car turns easier all gear ratios: higher = acceleration, lower = good drafting
Up in the 3’s maybe even lower do a few practice laps if you can get your car setup for the turns good already tune it for the turns then go ahead and start bringing the final gear down a few steps at a time there’s practice for a reason man!
Hi, love the videos. They give good insight into what to change when your car isn't behaving the way you'd like. One question I have that I have not been able to find anywhere else is, what amount do the upgrades account for? For instance, if you take your engine department from 80 to 85, is there a value associated with that one level upgrade? Sometimes it is hard to determine what should be the "next" thing to upgrade. Thanks for any input and keep up the great work!
This will require 5 shots of alcohol of your choosing and a cluck cluck chicken truck delivery! At that point ypu will reach the proper degree of 90 and have pleasant dreams lol
Thank you very much very helpful but I'm having hard time custom setup are online racing I practice save my settings just can't figure out to transfer to online racing
I can’t thank you enough for this video. Just from this alone I was able to use what I learned and shave off 3 seconds of time in Kansas! I’m still a little loose entering the corner tho. Do have any suggestions?
L rear Track bar down, it might be too loose for this to work but not knowing and going off of what you said if that's the only spot is entrance, work on the left rear track bar or the front sway, orrr lol see there are alot of things you can do to fix it, but it may tighten ya up too much, lot of give and take
They can be applied to all three variants of vehicles, however you may need to make minor adjustments with front sways and track bars due to weight differences.
Career allows you to load setup in the garage. Online you must select either custom setup or Qualifying Setup at the race pre-launch menu (where ypu see all the driver in the race before it loads)
Question for you. This is awesome btw. I’m having a hard time finding acceleration out of the corner especially at short tracks. I can corner in well but they always pull away from me or race me down on long runs because my corner out is slow. What can I do to eliminate this issue. Thank you.
yeah same with me in online play with my friends they kill me on cornering an straight a ways an i cant catch them… i roll out of the throttle going into the turns an still cant catch them its like my car is auto braking an im in expert mode with driving assist turned off any help would be greatly appreciated thanx
I still don't fully understand the bump and rebound in this game.. your definition seems strange way to think about it.. can you dumb it down? Lol not literally, but it should apply to dips bumps etc.. Where do you want to start on the car to build a set up?
Hello... think of it this way.. bump dictated how fast a suspension coil retracts when being pushed. So lower settings allows for softer suspension and more comfortable feel when going over bumps on the track. Higher will stiffen the suspension. Rebounds are how quick the coil pushes the tire back to the ground.
Setup are access through quick race features.. you will pick a track and it will load you into the Practice/qualifying/race. In order to use setups you must ensure in your setting your assist are off and you select the custom setups option.
@@ariesmotorsports4156 there it is. Thank you man! I would have never guessed that was the reason it wasn't showing up. I was starting to think that they just removed the car setup feature from the game and was stuck with how the car was setup with each track.. Again thanks man. Very helpful video..
I'm sure this question will drive you nuts because its almost been asked on here a bunch of times now, but....if I do a test setup and save it and go online will that apply automatically or do I need to go into a menu somewhere? Thanks for sharing this btw, I was about to stop playing the game because my car was bouncing all over the place and it was frustrating !
Yes it sure will as long as ypu save ypur setup either ru Der custom race or custome qualifying it will transfer under than file.. so ypu can make 2 setups for each tracks
You must go to test srssion on your single playing section on game. From there you can input a setup. You will have a choice of building a qualifying setup and a race setup. Once ypu input the numbers save it, and yes it will transfer to online. Hope this helps
@Lila Simo yes on expert mode and did a lot testing on different tracks went online my own lobby with custom mode on and on expert mode still didn't transfer it the same track the same car I don't understand
Why is it that everybody runs 1200 pounds per inch on the front Springs? I know it stabilizes the car or whatever but couldn't you run lower weight on the front Springs and get better grip while also gaining speed if you fix the car in other areas?
Honestly it's just the game engineering. Over the past few years, the physics for nascar games have been awful. There for you are able to get wacky number like 1200 working on a car.
Many thanks for your detailed video, but I have a big question...once more or less all the various settings are known what to do and you want to start a setup from scratch, is there some kind of sequence to follow or adjust randomly? I remember once seeing a guide for another racing game on how to setup a car from zero, with a step to step between the various settings. I would appreciate some kind of similar guide
Is it an option to completely get rid of setups? They just added it to Xbox and I'm still confused on what everything means. My driving style just went completely out the window

If the garage option is not available then it's because you're not running in expert mode in the main menu. The garage options are not available in normal AI mode. If you need driving assist that normal mode gives you, then just take note of the settings in that mode, switch it to expert mode, then modify the expert mode with the settings you had in normal mode. This way you get driving assist in expert mode plus have the garage options. Do this and you won't regret it.
