I have a Yamaha P-90 from back when I did Christmas concerts for my local church, and I love it. But I also have an antique 1912 Victor piano tuned to A-430 and it sounds incredible!

I got my Yamaha DGX670 in white for 650 got lucky it was never opened just a return they are going for 750 now and Jeremy See is reason I got it . I like it more than this model I’d check out his review . But it’s not an easily portable model unless you find case with wheels 😊
My thanks to Jeremy for this important review. I'm glad that Yamaha has updated the P-45 and created the P-145. I hope the new action is better and not worse. The new sound engine is very promising. It's a shame there's still no dedicated lineout, and no sympathetic string resonance. I've always criticised the P-45. It seemed like Yamaha kept it so brutally simple just to justify the prices of the P-125 and P-515, and to discourage musicians from gigging it, but I had an interesting gigging experience with a P-45 anyway, just last night. I was assured that I could leave my portable piano at home and perform on the venue's "excellent" rehearsal instrument, but nobody could tell me which model it would be. As it was an easy band gig, I didn't worry unduly about the tone. When I saw that I would perform on a P-45, my heart sank. Nobody had a Y cable to connect the headphone socket to the band's mixer, so I performed through the 6W+6W monitor speakers in a medium-size concert hall. Fortunately, the downward firing speakers' output hit a wooden floor, and the instrument could be heard. The hall acoustics helped too, as did playing against an acoustic band. Without connecting to bigger speakers, the sound must have been extremely compressed, but strangely, it wasn't too bad, and I got away with it. With no reinforcement, and utterly exposed, the P-45 put on a better show than I expected. And being a Yamaha, there was zero extraneous noise at maximum volume. The moral of the story is always bring your own dp if the supplied piano is an unknown quantity. Maybe I'll start carrying a Y cable too. But the P-45 gets my praise for holding its own against adversity, and this bodes well for the P-145. I would still recommend spending a little more and getting the P-225 or the PX-S1100.
I have big hands, and with my hands Is till have issues playing between the keys on my DGX-670, making the keys thinner is the same sin as trimming space of toilet paper to make squares smaller. The only thing this keyboard has going is the somewhat better key-action, but that's really it, I would rather save for a brand new albeit older P-515 model.
Man, let me tell you about that Yamaha DGX 670 in my opinion, it is the best sounding portable grand keyboard in the world. I bought one from a thrift store three months ago and paid $500 for it BRAND NEW!! man what a steel.
As usual,Jeremy offers us a honest and insightful review .This entry level dp seems to be a slight upgrade to the p45. Casio,Roland,Kawai, and Korg entry dps ,to me,are better values as Jeremyseemed to indicate. Thanks Jeremy for your channel and your reviews!
I bought the DGX -670 based on your review. I'm disappointed with it in some ways, yet in other ways it is very good. I'm wondering about the 525 as a replacement. I'm OK with the GHS action on the DGX. The speaker system is also very good. The operating system drives me completely nuts. The DGX is also ver heavy and difficult for me to lift at 81 years old.
seems a nice and honest instrument. After this video I'm more inclinated to buy this one. I supose using it for a controler would be a great improvement to its capabilities.
The USB audio interface is a great feature for those who want to play back sound from phone/tablet/PC software and software synthesizers. Yamaha include this where others do not.
Aloha, Jeremy. It's nice to see another video from you after quite a while. Such a great review for a not so great keyboard. But you are honest and objective. Albeit, it is an 88 key digital piano, like you said it is so lacking in features and performance compared to other brands. Yamaha makes great products but the feature content falls short. I would rather spend $250 more for the DGX-670 I believe you have that is a much better keyboard albeit a model from several years ago, but definitely not lacking in sound quality and features, and not dated, though not primarily intended as a beginner keyboard. What can you get for $100 more that is a current model? A Roland FP-30X. That is if you can get hold of one. They are in such great demand and hard to find anything wrong with it for the price, especially the sound and it's highly rated keyboard action. Yamaha has the $1000 CK61 which is incredible, one of the two keyboards I want when I feel I need them, along with the Roland FP-E50. I think I explained why both are great, but different, and hence why I want both. One of those main points is that the CK 88 cost I believe twice as much when the FP-E50 should be priced at $1500-2000, but is the best bargain around at $1000 for an 88 key digital stage piano. I rest my case. Thank you for letting everyone that see your videos to make good education decisions to find the right keyboard for them and their wants and needs. I believe both of us have found most of the aspects and considerations to keep in mind with funding the right keyboards for sound, features, design and value for new keyboards. Used ones have so much variables, like cars you have to check them out for condition and value. To me, I have to of the most practical and affordable 61 note keyboards Both good to have for their differences, with the only main shortcomings for what they are being the lack of stereo L/R ¼" audio output jacks. The Casio CT-S1 and and the Roland Go:Keys that while at a high costs, has much more sound selection selection and other innovative features, especially for music creation, not just playing. But the CT-S1 is so great, even professional plays can have and many probably do to just play for enjoyment without having to power up their pro rig, and be able to take it anywhere with them. Another major point is, not everyone has the essential need for full weighted hammer action and 88 keys, or all the time. So for many, a good action 61 note keyboard is fine. But for $1500, the MyPiano V2 is great to go anywhere and have an 88 key modular digital piano to take anywhere. My only question with the magnetic connectors of the modular sections is if it can be put on a keyboard stand, and not just only a desk or table top to support it.
I got a credit card in guitar center and thankfully I approved do u thing it’s worth getting I bought a 100$ one and I loved playing but I was worried if I buy a pricey one I wasn’t going to get hooked :)
Hello. I spent last summer with your keyboard reviews here on YTube and then purchased a DGX-670 last fall. I am very pleased but have not yet begun to fully utilize its functions. I did buy one pedal, the FC3A but have yet to figure out how to get it to sustain. Wondering if the Donner pedal is any different? Anyway, thanks for all the keyboard reviews. What sold me on the DGX-670 was hearing you sing God Will Make a Way on the DGX-670 review. Epic. God bless.
Its my dads birthday in 4 days he broke a key on his old cheap keyboard i want to get him a new one but know nothing about them. Hes mentioned 88 keys weighted and pedals before when talking about what hed get in the future... What should i get him?
I want to say right now: Yamaha has INSANE quality control and they're design for keyboards, even the cheap ones, is PHENOMENAL. The balance between touch weight and the actual tonal response is ALWAYS good in my experience. I've got a Yamaha P-85 from 2009 that has a soundbank of a sampled Yamaha CF3S grand and it sounds so good and it is by far one of the most versatile soundbanks ever made. It excels with being played by hand and with midi input from a sequenced file from a computer. Also the dynamic range is amazing. Yes you can get a better Yamaha keyboard (the Arius series is their best in my opinion, the Yamaha CFX concert grand sampling is unreal) but you probably won't be disappointed by the P-145 or other low end models from the P series. Also MAKE SURE YOU USE REVERB ON THESE. Crank it right up, it helps insanely!
The price you paid seems a bit steep! Thats works out at about £470. In Dec 23 I bought the p145 from Amazon UK for £400 with a £50 cash back from Yamaha after 30 days. For £350 this is an excellent keyboard.
I think Yamaha isn't going for "cost performance" or "value for money" with the P-145. Their "value for money" work is the DGX-670. This one is for those who don't want to spend even one extra dollar on a digital piano even in exchange for a large upgrade in performance. They just want the cheapest thing that's a "big brand" product.
That was how the P-45 sold so well. Yamaha is impressively, er, consistent. I often criticised the P-45, but perhaps I was a little harsh. Hope this new GHC works out better and not worse. The AWM tone generator wasn't bad, but the CFiiis samples should be particularly good. Works brilliantly on my P-255. If Yamaha hasn't cost cut too much on the chip, we might expect the same result. But there should be a line out. Even a mono line out would help. Unsuspecting pianists get asked to perform on these instruments and can't connect them to the PA. Only last night, that happened to me with a P-45. Nobody had a Y cable. I'll post the rest of this story in the main thread.
Thanks for the detailed review as always Jeremy. Got an irrelevant question though: I bought a Roland E-X20 about 40 days ago and I was wondering if buying an 88 key Yamaha was the move. I'm planning to learn music and play all kinds of genres but I do love the classical pieces a lot. I know you haven't reviewed E-X20 yet bu do you think was shortsighted to get a 61 key for a beginner or can it still serve me well long term?
Hey jeremy, I love your works and reviews for who want to learn keyboard and had some options Like midi keyboards (Like yamaha psr ew 425 and 76 keys) ,witch keyboard was the best??(Like yamaha psr ew 425 )
Thank U I really like this new piano, but...I dislike the fact that it has just 2 piano sounds :c And the 64 notes of polyphony... So...I'll saving money for get a Yamaha P125 (my first 88-keys keyboard) The new P225 is cool too, but I don't know, I don't like its CFX samples, the CFIIIS samples of the P145 and P125 sounds "electric" but I love that :
So, Jeremy, let me ask you a question. This is not related to the P-145, but for a 'new' DGX-680. No, I don't know anything about a release date for such a product, but what I'm wondering is, do you have any friends over at Yamaha R&D or Product Development. I think the DGX-670 is a great product, as you've said in past reviews, but I think the -680 could be to the -670 what the -670 was the previous versions. I kind of thought if Yamaha made these improvements, it would be an awesome product, and as I was watching this video, I wondered if you had people at Yamaha that you talked to. Anyway, I have a bunch of suggestions for the new -680, if anyone at Yamaha was interested. 1. Include the stand and three-pedal unit in the purchase price. Most people are going to buy it anyway, so bump the price a bit and include it. 2. Speakers: Get rid of the wimpy 6-watt speaker system. Yamaha has the new HST 3 and 4 speakers. Incorporate the HST 4 speakers into the new -680 3. Rear panel: The rear panel should look more like the PSR-E425 with the addition of a standard set of MIDI 5 pin DIN jacks. 4. TWO headphone jacks on the front panel, on Main, and one for 'Instructor' so someone who is teaching someone else can sit down and listen to the student while everyone else doesn't have to hear. 5. A 7" screen. A touch screen would be nice, but if you don't have a touch screen, but a larger screen, that's okay, too. 6. Under the Accompaniment section, instead of just one Intro and Ending, two, please. 7. There are only 263 styles. That should be at least doubled, say 550. Take some of the styles from the new Genos, but i would suggest a majority of those new styles be 'Great American Songbook', 'Latin/Ethnic" and 'Rock and Roll' (50s through the 70s) 8. There are 601 voices. Expand that out to about 8-900, including samples of that new Character Grand from the Genos. 9. Please replace the Pitch Wheel with a pitch/mod joystick. 10. Finally, I hate the plastic music stands that slide in. I'd rather see a longer metal framed stand that inserts into the back of the keyboard with like four attachment points. That way, you oulc have three or four page charts instead of two pages. Anyway, if you know anyone at Yamaha who might work in the division that this is created from, would you send them this list. Yes, I know the price will have to go up, of course. A price of $1,699 with the included stand, and all those upgrades would be what I would consider a fair price.
Is Yamaha p145 sufficient for Trinity grade 8 piano exam ? I've heard that a 3 pedal unit is required for grade 8. And P45B doesn't have that. So should I go for P45B or P145 ?
Please tell me how to make a digital piano sound good in PA systems or SR systems particularly in small church. We have the Casio Celviano AP-650 but the line out sound on the external speakers is not good as the onboard sound.
Hi Jeremy. I'm really not sure whether to get Korg B2N or Korg Liano. I know the Liano is newer & has less sounds, are there any noticeable differences in terms of sound quality?
To be fair, USB-C ports look like the obvious choice - until you are the man, company or governmental institute with only a very old computer that only goes up to USB-B.
USB-C is backward compatible all the way back to USB version 1 (from 1996). You will need a physical adapter, and you will not receive USB C speed though. Speed will be limited to the lowest USB version between host and device. @@kosomolsk
I've tried the P45 in a music store and was not at all impressed with the key action. I guess GHC with the short key pivots will probably feel worse. I don't feel any of the cheap Yamahas represent good value now, Roland FP10/FP30X have amazing actions (though I somewhat prefer the Yamaha sound). Also Yamaha's more expensive models are amazing both in action and sound (I have the P515)
A keyboard like Donner, Alesis, Williams hasn't been in the market long enough and the piano samples aren't as accurate. Just a few years ago Williams was known for their cheap "Allegro" & "Legato" portables with semi-weighted keys selling for $100 in the US at Walmart. Recently came across some full-size Williams including "Rhapsody III" in a local store. The keys are weighted but the key action didn't feel like 1 continuous motion but has a break in between. Cheaper than the competition definitely but not a good buy for serious learning.
Great video! I would like your opinion on the Kurzweil pianos, they are mostly selled in my country Ecuador, I'm looking forward to get one but I'm not so sure how good is it, I would appreciate your opinion on those especially the Kurzweil M90 thank you!
I still think the sl88 studio is the best value hammer action keyboard but its all personal taste and is there any need for built in voices when you can have endless number on a laptop?.
Hey Jeremy can you make a video about good pianos on Amazon I only have a $230 budget and I have about 1 year experience, I was looking for a hybrid one too, I would really appreciate it I’ve been wanting to play on my own instead only at my high school
can you please compare the noise of the keys between GHS and GHC . I want to buy dgx670 and I love the variety of tones it has but the keys have loud noise. is GHC quieter?
I got a check of $100 for my 17th birthday recently. I have an upright piano but it’s so out of tune, needs cleaning and repairing, and to get it fully restored it’s like $2,000. I want to get a decent affordable keyboard that has 88 keys, weighted keys for dynamics(playing soft/loud), and a sustain pedal. I can’t seem to find one that’s pretty good and around my budget. I love classical music, I play classical piano and I want to play on something that decent until I can afford getting my piano restored. Advice/suggestions???
I don't really get why, but in India, the P-145 is somehow only 40K Rupees, compared to 55K for the Roland FP-10, and 50K for the Korg B2. Is that enough of a price difference to make it competitive?
Can I also use your own money to buy a new piano haha! just kidding Jeremy! Loved your videos! This has been my therapy for a while now. I don't own a piano but I loved to buy one and learn as well!
I really need some help. I know 5-10% of keyboard/piano and play the guitar. I want to get a keyboard/piano now and teach myself and then practice and eventually in a year or 2 use it for making music at home. I have read I also may need a midi kryboard for music making/production later on. For my situation, I am confised between the Yamaha P-145 and the Yamaha EW 425. Could you please share your opinion as to what I should get and why? Even if you think I should get something else. I would really appreciate it a lot. 🙏

Hearing you say "it's an unmistakable yamaha sound" and playing the accoridion right after had me in stitches

I read this comments just seconds before that part. Now I'm in stitches, too! 🤣
HAHAHAHAHA. The unmistakable Musette sound. It's been around since PSR-740 in 1999

Wow another Yamaha review! And one that is within my budget! My wishes have come trueeeee
The bamboo flute sample you did, reminded me of the great music from the Star Blazer series, a 1970's Japanese anime
Feels nice to watch a review after quite a long time! As usual, Yamaha doesn't disappoint with its amazing piano voice. 😊
Can't wait to save up for my first keyboard. This is a great review!

The USB audio interface is a great feature for those who want to play back sound from phone/tablet/PC software and software synthesizers. Yamaha include this where others do not.
I'm waiting for my P-145 to arrive ❤
Is it arrived yet? How is it omg I am so curious
To me, I have to of the most practical and affordable 61 note keyboards
Both good to have for their differences, with the only main shortcomings for what they are being the lack of stereo L/R ¼" audio output jacks.
Great dissection of the various models, buddy! 👍
Very very beautiful piano ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤thanks a lot man ❤
I got a credit card in guitar center and thankfully I approved do u thing it’s worth getting I bought a 100$ one and I loved playing but I was worried if I buy a pricey one I wasn’t going to get hooked :)
Could you make a video about the casio ct s100?
Is it still worth buying it in 2024?
I would really appreciate it!

You play great👍
I want to say right now:
Yamaha has INSANE quality control and they're design for keyboards, even the cheap ones, is PHENOMENAL.
Thanks Jeremy. I was goijg to get the Casio CDP 360 but this sounds much better
Please Make a video on Roland fpe50
Hi Jeremy, I was wondering, do you still think the Audio Technica ATH M50X are worth it, or do you use another brand or model?
Great video! What you recommend digital piano or keyboard for worship music practice in home?
Ooof that moonlight sonata was rough. But amazing review thanks!
Does it have transpose
Si
Thanks for the detailed review as always Jeremy. Got an irrelevant question though:
I bought a Roland E-X20 about 40 days ago and I was wondering if buying an 88 key Yamaha was the move. I'm planning to learn music and play all kinds of genres but I do love the classical pieces a lot. I know you haven't reviewed E-X20 yet bu do you think was shortsighted to get a 61 key for a beginner or can it still serve me well long term?
Hey jeremy, I love your works and reviews
for who want to learn keyboard and had some options Like midi keyboards (Like yamaha psr ew 425 and 76 keys) ,witch keyboard was the best??(Like yamaha psr ew 425 )
I do have a nice Yamaha but need the weighted😅.
This looks like it’s on my next order list
Thank you
I just got the Yamaha p-143 from Yamaha ypg-235 semi-weighted keys. What difference the weighted keys make. Felt like I was playing on toy before. 😂
This video was not necessary for me but still watched it cause it has been a long time since I watched your videos and it made me feel good now.
Thank you for your support 🙏
Thank U
I really like this new piano, but...I dislike the fact that it has just 2 piano sounds :c
And the 64 notes of polyphony...
So...I'll saving money for get a Yamaha P125 (my first 88-keys keyboard)
The new P225 is cool too, but I don't know, I don't like its CFX samples, the CFIIIS samples of the P145 and P125 sounds "electric" but I love that :
so what is the main better competition you keep mentioning? The Roland FP 10?
P145 or P225? Does the P145 have the same features as the P225?
-They have the new GHC action
-P145 has CFIIIS samples
-P225 has CFX samples
Incorporate the HST 4 speakers into the new -680
Take some of the styles from the new Genos, but i would suggest a majority of those new styles be 'Great American Songbook', 'Latin/Ethnic" and 'Rock and Roll' (50s through the 70s)
Yamaha P-45B Digital Piano With 88 Keys (Portable Digital Piano) Adaptor Included
Why would a 88 Mini keyboard from a brand Like Arturia or M Audio? Isn't that better for sounds and recording midi?
❤ your review every time. I bought a Korg LP-380 based on your review. I love it. ❤ keep the reviews coming.😊
Superb choice!
Is it portable and wireless?
Are you playing “Sendas Dios hará” at 8:23?
Monumental video!
I haven't found a review of the np-35

@@JeremySee Thank you very much!
Is Yamaha p145 sufficient for Trinity grade 8 piano exam ? I've heard that a 3 pedal unit is required for grade 8. And P45B doesn't have that.
So should I go for P45B or P145 ?
Not at all. You need more polyphony and half pedal.
Hi Jeremy.
What do you think about Medeli DP740K?
Thank you.
Hello which instrument sounds better Yamaha psr sx600 or Medeli akx10
This is 2024 and they dont use usb c port. That is ridiculous
ikrr. They had 8 years and still didn't think of putting a USB-C port
To be fair, USB-C ports look like the obvious choice - until you are the man, company or governmental institute with only a very old computer that only goes up to USB-B.
@@kosomolsk usb c is compatible with all usb. Also, usb type c to usb a cables exist.
USB-C is backward compatible all the way back to USB version 1 (from 1996). You will need a physical adapter, and you will not receive USB C speed though. Speed will be limited to the lowest USB version between host and device.
@@kosomolsk
Usb c not necessary at the moment because it's not as popular as the common usb so they are just ok
pleasantly surprised to hear a Jay Chou song at 3:30!!
Cheaper than the competition definitely but not a good buy for serious learning.
hi can you also link somewhere which piano sheets are you using for the Ghibli music you play? :)
Great video! I would like your opinion on the Kurzweil pianos, they are mostly selled in my country Ecuador, I'm looking forward to get one but I'm not so sure how good is it, I would appreciate your opinion on those especially the Kurzweil M90 thank you!
I may have a "bug". Keep hearing an weird echo with chords just before releasing sustain pedal. Adjusting reverb. Otherwise BEAUTIFUL sound quality.
I still think the sl88 studio is the best value hammer action keyboard but its all personal taste and is there any need for built in voices when you can have endless number on a laptop?.
Is there virtual sound app for android phone that can connect this piano?
whats the name of the song you started playing at 14:36 seconds pls
Hey Jeremy can you make a video about good pianos on Amazon I only have a $230 budget and I have about 1 year experience, I was looking for a hybrid one too, I would really appreciate it I’ve been wanting to play on my own instead only at my high school
The P45 also had hard touch plastics everywhere. Or did I missunderstood that?🎹🎶
can you please compare the noise of the keys between GHS and GHC . I want to buy dgx670 and I love the variety of tones it has but the keys have loud noise. is GHC quieter?
Can you make a revew on the Numa X piano?
Can you please review the newest yamaha digital piano p-525.
Do you notice a large difference between this piano and the donner?
I got a check of $100 for my 17th birthday recently. I have an upright piano but it’s so out of tune, needs cleaning and repairing, and to get it fully restored it’s like $2,000. I want to get a decent affordable keyboard that has 88 keys, weighted keys for dynamics(playing soft/loud), and a sustain pedal. I can’t seem to find one that’s pretty good and around my budget. I love classical music, I play classical piano and I want to play on something that decent until I can afford getting my piano restored. Advice/suggestions???
Is your budget 100$?
why is it that the video is for Yamaha P-145, but the click takes you to P-45?
How to records its sound please help me
Also, do you have any thoughts on why the US market only has the P 143 versus the P 145 everywhere else? Major differences or it's the same?>
The US has P-145. It's just backordered.
El P143 no tiene entrada para el triple pedal. El P145 si lo tiene
When will you upload best keyboards for 2024

"Yamaha makes it difficult to switch functions without the use of their dedicated app" **immediately plays Joy To The World**
I dont like the speakers on the rear but i guess it's okay
I don't really get why, but in India, the P-145 is somehow only 40K Rupees, compared to 55K for the Roland FP-10, and 50K for the Korg B2. Is that enough of a price difference to make it competitive?
have you bought one? which one do you think should i go for, the pricing around the same in my country
Can I also use your own money to buy a new piano haha! just kidding Jeremy! Loved your videos! This has been my therapy for a while now. I don't own a piano but I loved to buy one and learn as well!
Darn after I recently got a 373
Can you play ep balled pleasee
Hello Jeremy. I am a beginner, please help me with this: casio ct s400 or Medeli MK 401? Thanks a lot.

Lovely comment having their own keyboard, but for me so hard to afford with my family income.soo sad.,my dreams to own it 1 day 😊❤
