The Roman Empire named Anatolia/modern-day Turkey "Asia Minor." So in ancient days, Europeans talking of Asia were not referring to regions bordering the Pacific Ocean. Also, I've got a vague memory that pockets of northern Turkey at one point came under Viking/Varjagian rule even before the foundation of Normandy. So, another case where the claim is not dishonest, but since the language has changed, the statement now sounds nonsensical.
There were Buddha figurines in Birka so not that much of a stretch to say that they may have atleast followed the Silk Road to the kaspian, I also heard from an Iranian kurd I know that there was some place on the kaspian coast where they had more European features and had a tale that they came and settled down long ago it may not be true though

When and where did the Norse settled Asia? Unless you count the Normans who took some parts of the Middle East and small pockets of Goths on Crimea.
@Knyaz Svjatosláv if crimea is europe,so is more than half of turkey..
irony at its finest
Middle East would qualify as Asia so that’s what I’d guess they refer to

It's simple.
Vikings (Scandanavians) are all over the place.
