I invested in a vocal coach for 10 weeks of training and by the end of it, I still didn’t really know the difference between my chest, mixed and head voice. This guy’s videos are so informative, fun and easy to understand.
Vocal Exercise begins at 10:00 Tips for future reference: 1, get used to head voice by using it in speaking 2, practise regularly 3, keep a wide throat
I have found that Head-Voice becomes easier after the voice has developed. I had difficulty singing in head voice (it was next to impossible) in 9th grade, now that I'm almost 12th, I have had moments where I have been able to sing in head voice.
the moment I found my head voice it was truly magical. I could feel the vocal cord stretch and vibrate fast. the sound was thin but it was resonant. was the first time I could hit C5
Came here right after episode 63 and I'd like to thank you very much, sir! Just knowing that my head voice is actually connected - since I'm a male - has made me capable of feeling much more free with it. Keep up the awesome work!
Since the lockdown has begun, I've been trying to learn to stretch my range "again". Your coaching on accessing the whistle register has been successful for me. I've learn how to do it last 2018 and I've been trying to grasp the control for it. I can now go from Bb5 up to 2 octaves above the high C with the reverse phonation and has been able to hit some notes on the 6th octave in the normal phonation. I'm currently watching your vocal coaching for the flageolet and for head voice. Please do a separate coaching focused on flageolet only(referring to the an episode that has the flageolet and falsetto). Thanks, your contents are very helpful👍
I've only just dicovered your channel & it's brilliant. I just had repair surgery from 15 years of screaming metal. I'm on the mend & I'm confident you will be invaluable mate - like it was meant to be. Thank you for these terrific & entertaining lessins. SM
Hey Justin I can't thank you enough for all your vocal tips . I've used them over the past year and I can't beleve the progress I've made . you've taken a girl that was afraid to even sing in the shower to the girl leading her senior class in the CHS Alma mater at baccalaureate .
Hi I'm a beginner in singing. A friend of mine on Smule who's taking voice lessons with you guys recommended me this video and your school. 1) you are so dynamic, precise, energetic, and funny too. 2) I think everyone wants to have you as a voice coach! 3) I understand better what is exactly this head voice that ppl talks about. I love your presentation. Well done! I've subscribed!
Yay! Welcome, Morpheo and thanks for subscribing! We're so glad this video helped you and we hope out other episodes help you too! We're here for you on this journey! :) Keep up the awesome work! You might also benefit from Episodes 98 and 99! -NYVC
This video is super useful for those singing in choirs that are used to singing weighty opera arias and solo pieces. In an attempt to "sing softer", I was clenching down on my larynx, tongue, etc so much that I couldn't even get through the end of rehearsals. It was so bad, I was physically squeezing every last note out and was SO tired afterwards (talk about vocal nodes danger zone!) I'm excited to see my improvements now that I understand what's going on under the hood! Thank you!!
@@NewYorkVocalCoaching i think to buy COMPLETE VLTTW VOCAL COURSE ,i m musician and fall love to sing and haded work roger love concept but now i want to climb my level and sing all stevie wonder :) how is this complete vlttw?thank
thank you Justin for laying the foundations and first steps of my singing when i started out back in 2016. your knowledge still carries on through in my day to day singing.
You've answered me the working between ta and ct. I saw them at a literature, but you know that a muscle flexibility can't be shown on a book. And in my nation, there are only few literature will talking about it. As always, I think the architecture of your speech help me more about the vocal studying that I'm doing, far more than the question you answer every time! I'm from Taiwan. I love the video on this channel just like my enthusiasm on vocal studying. Though I can't say it to you face to face, but "Great job Justin!"
Respirar muy suavemente y mantener poco aire 5:55. Practicar el ejercicio de VWOHM a diferentes escalas 9:20. Practicar también con "mmm" en 7:07, viendo cómo es la resonancia en la cabeza.
Simply just one of the best or the best youtube channel about singing out there. Gonna start working my Head Voice from now on! you know, growling only with chest voice is sometimes very boring!
I was crying because I could not do the exercise (my throat is like closing itself...) and atfter the exercise (11:33) I stopped crying. It is like you knew that I would cry
That was a really good exercise, Justin! Thank you so much for uploading this one. I've been working so hard on trying to find and develop my own head voice, and this just helped me understand it a lot more. The exercise here also helps me keep it connected to the rest of my voice without cracking or breaking into a hallow falsetto. I look forward to the next video!
Tips for developing head voice 1. Breathing. Dont let rib cage and upper abdomen collapse. Dont squeeze them as you exhale 2. Lyrnx : Lyrnx position Not high not low but wide. We want to have sense of width in Lyrnx
Yes, I want a whole album. Trying to convince him. I even made a fan channel for him. Spreading the word to his fans. Amazing: th-cam.com/video/tnSSp3R9Wd8v/w-d-xo.htmle
I find it so difficult to switch to headvoice, I automatically go from chestvoice to falsetto :( makes me sing too high in the chestvoice because switching from chestvoice to the falsetto sounds a little strange. I sing tenor in a choir I really do want to learn how to sing in the headvoice because im straining to much now.
It was 5 months ago,, so did you get better? I find exercises like tis in the video, where you start high and go low a good way to improve your head voice for the lower register.
Have you seen Justin's vocal training course: voicelessonstotheworld.com/page/vocal_course You could start with the beginner level. This would help you. -NYVC
You know what might help you? Just do scales from the highest falsetto note to the lowest FALSETTO note without breaking into chest voice. Classical training involves this sometimes, it helps with head to chest and chest to head transitions. It helped me a great deal.
Mic Ku care to elaborate just a bit on that ? You mean going down in scales from highest pitched falsetto to the lowest pitch notes (that normally are produced by chest voice ) but doing it with falsetto mechanism all the way down?
Thank you so much brother dear for this another absolutely great & helpful episode full of very useful information. Great to see you back - your eps are getting even more gorgeous . All the best.
Hi Justin, this was an amazing lesson. My question is do all females have the separation you mention when using their head voice? My favorite female singer has always been Stevie Nicks. Many of her songs are sung In a rang that I can sing in without ever needed to go into falsetto. To me it Sounds like her head voice is closer to a mans head voice then a women's thus allowing a guy like me being able to cover her songs without falsetto. Am I making any sense ?
Ok thanks for all your help. I've been developing my head and mix for a few months now and find your channel to be one of the very best. Question though: today the song 'More than words' came on and I was trying to sing along with it. I've developed a very bright sound in head voice and like a baby's cry in mix. This didn't come close to being the right tone or sound for the song. How do I put these techniques into practice with warmth and expression?
