Gosh what a find. Sailing Magic Carpet had a Vindo 28 and I've always liked them since watching that channel. I love nice woodwork on a boat, I guess that's why I like Dory's, Vindo's, Baba's etc.Thank's guys as usual :)
That is precisely how I discovered the Vindo! And the moment this one popped on the market I knew we had to go take a look. She lived up to my expectations and then some! Thanks for your continued support!
I used to own a 1975 Vindo 40 and they are a beautiful, well-designed and built sailboat. I always thought mine was like a piece of fine furniture that could stand up to rough weather like a champ. The main issue with such a boat relates to rot of that beautiful exterior wood.
Damn! If I was forty years younger, I’d buy this boat. When I was a kid of 25, I bought a Catalina 22 new and sailed the Chesapeake. In my heart I thought Id buy a Catalina 30 and sail the Caribbean. However, life got busy and I spent most of my time on my career becoming a Judge in S.E. Florida. Now that I have the time and the means, my wife is not interested and I can’t do it anymore on my own. But I can dream.
There are a few other youtube videos out there on the Vindo 40 ( Capt Q and Magic Carpet), yours is the most informative and the best look-through the whole boat. These are great boats and this one is in great shape and great price.
Hi Jack! We really appreciate this feedback. Many thanks. She’s such a pretty boat! I first learned about the Vindo watching Magic Carpet (I mention them in the description), and I think theirs was a Vindo 32 - also a beauty! Thanks for watching!
This woman absolutely loves her! Maybe all your ladies need is a week at one of the all female sailing schools. Easy to learn to love to sailing with no men around 'helping' us. (so we can make fools of ourselves without a male audience). But then again my family have always been sailors, so sailing is in my blood.
Great boat ... obviously well kept. A very nice coastal cruiser for the price with a nice sail assortment. It's a shame that we seldom see any of Vindo's larger offerings on this side of the Atlantic like the 50, 65, or 90. Their sailboat data numbers are very impressive. I find it strange that it is always the 30 and 40 models that seem to be available on the American market -- i guess it speaks to their seaworthiness!!! There is a 45 for sale currently in Salem, Ma ... it might be interesting to do a follow up episode comparing the two -- different layout down below, wider beam, aft cabin, larger displacement, etc. Not sure how far the trip would be to get down and look at it though ... just a thought. Great episode!
Thanks Robert! Appreciate your comment. I’ll look into that 45. Probably 3 hrs away, depending on where in MA. But I go down there from time to time. Thanks for your continued support!
My wife and I al.ost bought a Vindo way back at an Annapolis Sailboat show when it was first shown. We oy decided not to because it was too much wood to.take care of for our limited time available. Beautiful boat still!
@5:28, "...he has too many boats." 😂😂aww, that poor bastid😂😂 @9:40, Not Jagger, but Bowie, for sure😎 @14:16, Protecting Formica with mahogany? Truly, the world is upside down!😂😂 GREAT find, guys. BEAUTIFUL boat.
Great video guys , very informative and entertaining at the same time. You’re well on your way to fill up the big void left by Capt Q’s retirement. All that’s missing now is the can of Dinty Moore beef stew 😄
Vindo built a nice boat and that is a good example indeed. A friend had one and it was a very nice boat. His was 34' LOA so likely the Vindo 45. Have you been out sailing yet? We have had two nice sails so far.
Thanks Todd! Yes, a really sweet boat. As for me, we just launched yesterday in the rain and fog but had a nice, short sail from Rockport to Camden. Itching for more!
On a Deck step mast wouldn’t it be prone for mast decapitation in a big storm. I really don’t know that much about sailing. But there seems to be a lot of contradictions going on with this boat. On one hand you have full keel, very slow but Sea worthy. A very rounded haul capable of flipping a 360 in the very worst scenarios only to wonder, Oh Shit where did my mast go? Also such a low freshwater capacity. This boat doesn’t know who it is. I would’ve thought better of Swedish design than this. Were these guys high on Swedish meat balls at the time? But l got to say” you have to love the elegant wood work! Just over look the major details!
Serious sailors have covered a lot of blue water miles on Vindos, they were built to sail rugged Scandinavian waters, and handle beautifully in all conditions. She's one of this offshore (trans Atlantic) cruiser's dreamboats, if I were twenty years younger, she'd be very tempting.
beautiful boat. thanks for showing it to us.
Our pleasure!

It really does feel like a piece of fine furniture! Great description! And thanks for watching!

She's perfect for my wife and I, cruising the Maine coat this summer. What a yard find and at this price a real steal.
She’s ideal for a couple!
Another great find. Thanks for another great episode!
Thank you, Traveling Charlie! See you up here soon!
Great looking boat. Thx for the tour. Woodworking looks amazing.
I really love this yard find. I can definitely picture myself in it enjoying Sweden's coast and back channels. Great job showcasing this beauty.
Thank you for your kind words!
Beautiful. You do such a fantastic job finding these gems. As you said, a very fine boat for a solo sailor or small family
Thank you! Lucky to live in a state with so many sailboats!

Your in a class, a very charming place. Sincere, plus fun and entertaining.. And also extremely informative... Thank you....
Thank you for your kind words!
Very, very pretty boat. Now if I could only get my wife on a boat. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
I know the feeling… My wife loves it in theory but not so much in practice… Keep trying!
This woman absolutely loves her!

That’s a great idea! Glad you love it and love sailing! Really appreciate your comment and thank you for watching!!!
Beautiful boat, I could smell the oiled wood and varnish through the screen!
That’s awesome!
Beautiful boat!
She is, indeed! Thanks for watching!
Full keel in the thumbnail, you have my full attention!
Ha! I saw the sister ship sailing in Rockland Harbor, Maine, the other day and she looked as smooth as silk on the water.

I hope you found the perfect boat for you! Thanks for tuning in!

@14:16, Protecting Formica with mahogany? Truly, the world is upside down!😂😂
GREAT find, guys. BEAUTIFUL boat.
Bowie! Ha. I'll take it! Thanks for watching!

Ha! It's a big void to fill, but we're trying... Maybe a it's a bottle of rum?

Beautiful 🎉boat ..bet it goes
I had a Yankee 38. All the S&S boats of the era had beautiful tumble-home. Swans) 38-43), Tartan 41 & Catalina 38 mkI was made with Yankees hull molds
The Yankee 38 is a stunner. No doubt about it! Did you love it?
Its got a lot of room inside...i wasnt expecting that
Is it still for sale
Yes, and she’s now in the water, ready to go.
Hello, where is located the boat? I’m interested, based in EU, Italy.
@@romeontheroad5570 she's currently in Rockland, Maine, USA...
I know english but I prefer..complimenti
Nice boat
Indeed!
Vindo , one safe vessel and the Sweds know how to build them for the North Atlantic.
You got that right! Solid boats. Thanks for tuning in and for your comment.
Always
Sweden is surrounded by the baltic sea, but nevertheless a stunning and safe boat.
The " cheapest" i saw in Sweden this year = about 3800 euros , but needed work ! Prices are cheap in Sweden
That’s a smokin’ deal!
40 square meters sail area, not 40 foot. Gorgeous but small
Catalina 38 was a tumble hull. It was a rule breaker in IOR design.
100% correct. The Catalina 38 used the mold from the Yankee 38 - beautiful boats! Thanks for watching!
Queen Silvia of Sweden (Silvia Renate Sommerlath)
Were we close?!?
Can you sell boats in India?
You’re a long way from Maine! But anything is possible! Thanks for tuning in!
Coolest quip: "Simone BIles watch out!"
That was very funny and I am glad you caught that! Ha. Thanks for watching!!!
No we have queen from Germany🙂

hi
How do you make 40 foot boat without a quarterberth?? Lovely elegant but not the most practical design imho....
She’s 30 feet…
its a cute little ship but to small and to narow for serious sailors.

Yep! Funnily enough the seller liked our video of his boat so much that he is keeping the boat!
Im about to look at one i the uk solely based on the 6'5" headroom stated by the owner. Can anyone confirm this?
The Vindo 40 does NOT have 6’5” headroom…probably 6 feet. But they’re beautiful!
@@boatfools watched the video and did wonder. Thankyou
