      Seconded! So many potential avenues to explore without even thinking too hard! Stories about the Marauders, the Founders, Gringott's treasure hunting, etc... Heck, have a hapless Muggle Detective show with an eccentric undercover author posing as the detective's assistant where they solve magic-tinted crimes that potentially violate the Statute of Magical Secrecy, or something... 🤔

      @@MichaelJohnsonAzgard That's fine because you can just wait until you're ready to watch it. 😉
      "They" can't improve the overall quality of anything if they stop making stuff just because of that. 🤔
      If it comes out and it turns out to be trash, are you gonna sit there and watch every deliciously awful minute of it a while continuing to whinge about other people's efforts as if you could do better? Or will you just let it be what it turns out to be first?
      This reboot thing doesn't even have a cover for you to hastily judge yet, so I can't even write that cool metaphor for you about not doing that...

    The HPT videos are so fascinating and compelling, but every time I watch one, I can't help but ask myself where the information comes from. Is it purely your theory put forward? Theories found on fan forums? Some official scripts or interviews by JKR? Or a mix of all? I can never find any resources mentioned, and it bugs me every time not knowing exactly how canon or how speculative the ideas are. I think that knowing where the information comes from (with some sort of disclaimer at the beginning of the video, or resources in the description) would really help me appreciate the ideas without this burning question in the back of my mind. That being said (or asked), thank you for bringing me back to the HP universe every time you release a video! :P

      It's not his content that he is presenting. It is content that J.K. Rowling herself has created. And it is clear to me that she has a mediocre at best working knowledge of the world outside of modern Britton. It's obvious to me because she has missed out the vast majority of the worlds population, and even what she has covered, she has covered in a way that screams lack of being informed to me. The nasty side of my nature even wonders if she is even aware that there is a modern nation called Egypt. Or like anybody else that isn't that well informed about world affairs outside of their own country, does she just think that Egypt only existed in ancient times? But the more charitable impulse in me thinks that she has just overlooked Egypt because she has overlooked so many other parts of the world, and I can't help noticing that all these ministers of magic and magical governments she has created all have the same, socially liberal, feminist ideology that underpins them. That's not how the real world has worked throughout history, and it's not how the vast majority of the world works today. But to feminist ideologues like J.K. Rowling, they want to incorporate their ideology and use these sorts of platforms to push their ideology, because they know nothing outside of the ideology and anything that is outside the ideology is somehow "wrong". I tell you all of this so that you understand why Egypt was left out. Because the entire international with magical world was created by somebody that is mediocre at best.

    • @milanka882
      @milanka882 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's stereotypical because it's J.K. Rowling. She doesn't have a working knowledge of the world, and doesn't understand how most people in the world actually are or what their cultures are really like. All she can rely on is stereotypes. But I also detect a strong undercurrent of feminist, liberal ideology that underpins a lot of this sort of thing. It's clear to me, that she is one of these people that thinks that anything that is not secular, feminist and socially liberal is somehow "bad" or "wrong". She doesn't really understand how the world actually works outside of this feminist, socially liberal bubble that she lives in, and in her mind demonises any other worldview that contradicts that. And therefore, she imagines all this history and all these world governments to be through this lens that she herself interprets the world in, rather than understanding these countries she is trying to create visiting governments for, and being okay with them perhaps mirroring the cultures that these governments are supposed to represent. The harsh reality is, that J.K. Rowling's worldview is a minority worldview both Historicle and in the 21st-century globe. Most people do not think like her and have never done. So if she is going to write an honest critique and analysis of what magical governments worldwide look like, first of all, she might want to look at a map and learn her geography, and secondly, she might want to stop demonising her feminist and socially liberal ideology and understand how the vast majority of people actually live, think, behave and view the world.

      This list was made by J.K. Rowling. This is somebody who I very much doubt could even find Bulgaria on a map, let alone know that it has more of a southern climate, so therefore big winter furry coats and other winter type of uniforms would not be needed, even in the mountains of Bulgaria. I always wondered if demonstrating was perhaps located in Russia or somewhere like that, but clearly not. Once again, J.K. Rowling and her lack of knowledge of the world outside of her own little bubble. She is so annoying.

      Yeah, that's what I think too. But like I have been saying on so many comments, I don't think J.K. Rowling even knows where Bulgaria is awkward pointed out on a map. If she could, she would know that Bulgaria is a southern Slavic country, and therefore is going to have a southern climate. Also, Krum is not even a Bulgarian sounding name. This is what I mean, she clearly has no idea about what she is talking about, but she is trying to hard to give everyone the impression that she does. Anyone with just a little bit of nous about the sorts of things can pick it apart.

      Krum is the name of a Bulgarian Khan (ruler) in the 7th or 8th century. Now, is it a common modern Bulgarian name.. Absolutely not, but Khan Krum is one of the most known Bulgarian Khan's in Bulgarian history. Hence why she names him Viktor Krum.

    House of the Gathering of Q'ul'qulkan
    Nueva Iberica Escuela (Colombia)
    Escuela de Magia de Ciudopacha (Peru)
    Plataluna Colegio de Magia (Argentina)
    Academia de Castelobruxo
    Africa
    Great Madrasa of the Magical Maghreb
    Academie des Etudes Magique d'Afrique de l'Ouest
    Uagadou School of Magic
    Unzawi School of Magic
    New Dorestad Academy (South Africa)
    Indo-Pacific
    Academy of the Celestial Ocean (Indonesia)
    Tala School of Sorcery (Philippines)
    Abja School (Aboriginal Australia)
    Oceanian School of Magic (Polynesia)
    Most of the 25 known governments overlap with one of the 50 schools on the map.
    The most interesting part to me is how MAGUSA seems to have five schools within its area (with vastly different histories and ideologies) and yet only one is ever mentioned; a video dedicated to MAGUSA perhaps might shed light on the regional diversity within the US.

      @milanka882 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Where did you get this from? Also, one thing I might say, Polynesia is not actually a place. You would have to put the school somewhere within the Pacific triangle… Easter island to the north, Hawaii to the east and New Zealand to the south. With in the triangle, there are various Pacific Island nations. A lot of them are Polynesian, some of them Micronesian or Melanesian. But on the other hand, you could say the school you have said that is in Polynesia could be in French Polynesia i.e. Tahiti. I am currently writing fanfiction about the Wizarding world here in New Zealand where I live, and I have invented a school called the Skilbeck Wananga For the magical arts. It is nestled in the southern alps on the South Island of New Zealand, and it was founded in the 1870s by Albert Flitwick, distant relation to Filius Flitwick. Otherwise, an interesting comprehensive list. The other question I would like to ask as well is are they all boarding schools? I would certainly hope not. I would like to think, especially as I invent Skilbeck Wananga, that at least some schools have moved past this compulsory boarding, and have a more relaxed approach towards boarding, even perhaps not allowing boarding for the first one or two years. I have been reading about boarding school and how harmful it can actually be to people and even to societies. So I would certainly hope that modern magical schools would have a more nuanced and forwardthinking approach towards boarding as well… Including I would like to think Hogwarts had grown out of its compulsory boarding and lack of past door care and be more up-to-date about this stuff. Also, boarding schools are not necessarily the norm in all parts of the world, and different cultures are going to have a different approach to educating their Wizarding children just as they do in the muggle world educating their children.

    • @francescocarlini7613
      @francescocarlini7613 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@milanka882 That's a lot of interesting things to discuss!
      Firstly, the source is Iori's 'Harry Potter and the Realistic Magic OR A More Realistic Potterverse'.
      Secondly, Polynesia is a place as much as any continent is a place. Continents are geographic abstractions built on a combination of physical geography and human geography. With Polynesia is mostly the latter, because Polynesians have settled such a huge area of the planet, a feat unparalleled in world history.
      Polynesia is really the extent of Polynesian expansion and colonization, and the Pacific triangle (although I would call it Polynesian triangle) with Tahiti in the centre provides a very convenient picture of the Polynesian area.
      The reason I insist on Polynesia is that Polynesians are so underrepresented in Western media that many would ignore the Polynesian world and only focus on a small part of it. The most blatant example comes (unfortunately) with one of my favourite movies of all time, Disney's 'Moana', that many mistakenly think it's about Hawaii just because it's about Polynesians. That's mistaking the tree for the forest.
      As for the boarding schools, I don't know when the idea of a boarding school originated; it must be noted that some schools on the map are many centuries older than Hogwarts and that magical education goes further back still.
      There must have been renowned schools of magic in ancient Egypt, but those are lost to time. Kirke Akademia is the oldest in the modern day and it retains much of its ancient Greek customs.
      And that's still in Europe, other schools are going to look even more alien to the British, so much so that they might as well exist in a different fantasy franchise altogether.
      In fact, reading what Iori has to say about the Abode of the Enlightened Mountain (the Thai school) I could not help but think that it looks exactly like one of the Air Temples from Avatar the Last Airbender.

Islamabad was made in 1970s and Mumbai was made by the Portuguese in 1800s. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge would’ve chosen magical governments of Tibet & Bhutan instead of Pak and Bangla. Both have a history of the occult and this narrative would’ve fitted neatly. Similarly, Egypt should’ve been chosen in the list. Also, Iran should’ve been called Persia and Mesopotamia ought to have been in the list as the original Iraq. All three are ancient civilisations with deep occult and magical traditions. Rowling is not as meticulous as Tolkien, in fact she’s quite illiterate about creating historical-appropriate narratives in her books. She’s inventive, wonderfully so, but doesn’t have well-rounded education.

      @@PatSen ditto to absolutely everything you say. I wish she would just stop it. It's driving me absolutely insane. As someone who lives in New Zealand, she gets New Zealand completely wrong and has no idea about how this country works. So yes, I feel your pain. Also, she has no idea about languages and how people's names work or she would not have called Victor Krum, A Bulgarian character, a name that sounds completely an Bulgarian. I doubt even that she could find Bulgaria on a map either, because if she could, she would not have created High school there that has a particularly winter uniform that to me sounds more Russian than Bulgarian. She also would not have created a school where the sun barely shines in winter, because Bulgaria is too far south for that. Also, there would be a lot more governments around the world if somebody who actually had a working knowledge of geography, history, and the world generally outside of modern, socially liberal and feminist Western culture, had have created this. Another problem I have is that I see a strong current of social liberalism and feminism underpinning how these governments work. Even the fact that women are supposed to have been in leadership as far back as the 17th century. Clearly, this woman has no concept of the fact that her modern, socially liberal and feminist ideology is a minority worldview both Historicle and in the contemporary world. If somebody with a working knowledge of geography and culture had have invented these governments, they would be much more diversity of government governance reflected then there is here rather than just modern, Western democracies were even women can become ministers for magic in the 18th century. 🙄 and lastly, how could MACUSA exist, and be called by that name, nearly 100 years before the United States of America was actually founded? Clearly, she doesn't even know basic American history. Seriously, this woman it just drives me nuts and I wish she just shut up.

      @@milanka882 My! What a lovely rant 🙂
      She is poor in other aspects too….like all spells use Latin roots. That’s silly. Patil sisters would’ve used Sanskrit based mantras. But of course, she wouldn’t have the slightest idea of the spells in Atharvaveda and the hundreds of tantric texts. But it’s ok, she’s more to be pitied than censured.

    Tolkien added much of the history and lore in the appendices, as part of The Lord of the Rings. Many of these wizarding governments were not in the 7 Harry Potter books, or the Fantastic Beasts films. They don't count.

      Thank you. And neither should they. It was clearly done so badly, clearly done by someone with a working knowledge of the world outside of their own little bubble that was mediocre at best, and so many countries and people groups so obviously missed out, but I think that people around the world who want to write a fanfiction about the Wizarding world in their own country and owns society should be left to do so. I'm sure that I could do a better job of writing about New Zealand's Minister for magic and ministry for magic then she called, considering that I live here in New Zealand and New Zealand is my world. It was so embarrassing to hear what she had to say about New Zealand Wizarding world that it made me want to 🤮.b

    I find it to be quite ¡d¡0+¡c that considering all the curse & legend of mighty mystic powers that EGYPT HAD SINCE ANCIENT ERAS...
    THERE'S NO COUNCIL OF EGYPTIAN MAGIC!!!!
    SERIOUSLY!!!
    Rowling thought of adding Andorra (where the HELL was that anyway) & that tiny state Lienchinstien whatever that used to be part of Sweden or something BUT NO ONE PRIORITIZE THE INCLUSION OF THE OLDEST MOST POWERFUL MYSTIC STATE OF THE ANCIENT WORLD!!! Like one of the Weasley boys work in Egypt!!! EGYPT SHOULD BE FIRST IN LINE & BE THE MOST INFLUENTIAL... LIKE WHITE AMERICAN KILLED THE NATIVE AMERICAN SO THEIR NATURAL SOURCE OF MAGIC MUST BE WEAKER THEN EGYPT!!!
    WHY?!?!? Are their SFX TEAM can't do those Mummy Franchise Amazing Sand special effects!!! IS this about MONEY... SO THOSE COUNTRIES PAID TO BE PRIORITIZED IN THE CREATION OF

      Maybe *magical* Irish people view the whole thing a bit differently and like Scotland, they're just mixed in with the Ministry of Magic? Irish kids go to Hogwarts and all. 🤷🏻‍♀ Maybe in magical communities there isn't a NI/Ireland split in that way because there are so few actual magical people compared to Muggles? Or they may have their own governmental bodies, but it's easier to have most offices, etc in the Ministry because they have so much contact with British wizards?
