Some criticize Moody for how he’s portrayed in the last few books of the series. In the 4th book he is jumped by death eaters and impersonated for a whole year while imprisoned in a chest, in the 5th book he gets beaten badly and nearly killed by Dolohov, and in the 7th book he is killed by Voldemort. Sure, he’s old by this point in the books, but three losses in a row makes fans think he’s weak. The thing is, it’s kinda a testament to his strength. Voldemort has been “dead” for over a decade, and when he comes back, Moody seems to be the Auror he fears most. He purposely has death eaters catch him off guard in the 4th book, and in the 5th, they send the strongest Death Eaters after him in the Ministry, with Dolohov probably being the most powerful Death Eater outside Bellatrix (and Snape if you count him). And in the 7th book, Voldemort himself goes after Moody because he assumes Harry would be with the most powerful and trustworthy Auror. All of these show that Voldemort feared Moody the most, which is proof that prime Moody was unstoppable. When Moody gets bested in the 5th book, the Order are visibly shaken by seeing him knocked out. Mad-Eye had reached mythical status for them, and they couldn’t imagine seeing him lose.
Agreed, pretty much any Auror other than Kingsley would've lost to Crouch surprise attacking and dueling Dolohov head on, Moody is past his prime and still fought well
I feel bad for John Dawlish. Man never did anything wrong, got Outstandings in all of his O.W.L.S, and just got OP targets and people he was never expected to get serious with.
macusa is also the worst name possible. shows she doesnt know much about the US gov and its many departments. should have been a hidden 3 letter department, a similar premise to the MIB.
At some point, it stops becoming luck. Harry achieves more before the age of 18 than almost anybody on this list, on numerous occasions he showed an aptitude for extremely strong magic at a young age. It’s as though people in the Harry Potter community think they are more cultured and knowledgeable for proclaiming that Harry was an average wizard. BCJ and Voldemort himself were unable to control Harry under the imperius curse even as a child. If you think that is not exceptionally unbelievable, I don’t know what to tell you. There are so many instances of how powerful Harry’s magic is.
Harry’s a versatile spell caster? “Ok Harry we have intel that this guy is well versed in wand less magic so expelliarmus won’t work with him” “Sorry I’ll drop the job”

I absolutely love when we get the right actors for the role and the actors playing family look like they are really related like the Scamander brothers. Just cool. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I don't believe that Amelia Bones was an Auror. I think she was just Head of Magical Law Enforcement and Head of the Wizengamot. If she was, I believe she would be in the top 5
Yes. I think Hary should be rated a good deal higher. All we know about him works against him here, since no worthwhile gthing is achieved by any human being alone. Everyone achieves through a combination of skill, hard work, help from friends and colleagues - and a dash of luck. So, it is unfair to penalise Harry because of all that we know of him. It must also be noted that he and Ron revolutionised the entire Auror department.
Magical congress actually makes sense if you think about it. Congress includes HOR and Senators and could have been an influence for a muggle form of government in this new country.
The saddest thing about HP fandom vs things like Star Wars, Trek, etc. is how there is so much world building that could/should be done that isn't. It's even more unfortunate because the IP is now so closely tied to one very unpopular person. In those other fandoms, the universes were made so vast, so quickly by licensed canon novels by other authors who cared about the subject material deeply. It's a shame something similar hasn't happened to a larger degree with HP's universe.
You gave Rufus Skrimger (prob butchered his name) credit for fighting Voldamort yet Harry Potter dueled and got the better of Lord Voldamort on several occasions (not always with help either) and didn't give him the same credit...
Harry had some advantages when fighting specifically against Voldemort. He required significant help against Bella, Lucius, dolohov, Raul, etc. Seimgeour literally earned his reputation fighting evil wizards heads up. Ona level playing field, I think Rufus above Harry is probably fair. Although, Harry has learned a ton in his time so his magical knowledge may exceed Scrimgeour’s eventually
I don't know if this is just me but the aurors are generally look weak and hopeless with only a few like mad eye moody who seems to be the only competent auror even harry hermoiny and Ron do a better job at stoping death eaters even thou they haven't even finished their education
With all of my respect for Moody I have to put Kingsley above him and here is why. 1.Moody was defeated in 3 major battles he had and in the last he was killed. Kingsley survived the entire war. 2.Kingsley held his own against 6 DE to the best of my memory while I don't remember Moody taking on multiple DE at once (movies doesn't count). 3.Moody lost 2.5 body parts while Kingsley lost none. 4.Kingsley dueled directly with Voldemort along with Horace and Minerva (all incredibly powerful individuals) and lived to tell the tale while Voldemort killed Moody with ease. One final question- Why didn't you add John Dawlish? Maybe because of his defeat or you have forgotten about him? BTW I would rank Harry low in the list because Harry wasn't good enough.
This is all because when we see Moody in the books, he is way past his prime. He was in his prime in the first war where he filled half the cells in azkaban single handedly. Kingsley in the books is in his prime. That is the difference
@@mrdr0161 True but that still doesn't make my points any less true. I didn't give a damn that he was not in his prime, I judged by what I read. I would have said seen as well but the movies overpowered him I feel. Another note I forgot to mention- He lost in a surprise attack against Barty Crouch Jr. (who was a top Dog of Voldemort) and Peter Pettigrew (powerful wizard but not as powerful as these two). How did he lose? Is that also about losing his prime? Or are we want to say Barty was stronger than Moody? And I think even in his prime he wouldn't beat Bellatrix or Dolohov.
For martinfunk4855. It didn't allow me to answer directly still I wanted to respond- Yes you are correct about what you said. The thing is that I judge Moody according to what I read in the books about his performance by the time he was introduced in book 4. Defiantly not by his past.
Was moody even that powerful? Did we ever see him ACTUALLY do anything? How did he lose, in all of his paranoia, against a hogwarts flunkee who just got out of 15 years of being in prison? Not to mention his next big play was dying. Biggest letdown was how they handled his character.
@@t_c526615 years of being in prison? Harry turned 14 in Goblet of Fire, His mother swapped places with him, both of them took Polyjuice potion in Azkaban while she was dying. The Dementors didn't notice any difference when Barty Crouch Snr left because he entered with a weakened dying person and due to his son having lived in Azkaban, he also left with what seemed like a weakened dying person. Barty Crouch juniors mother was careful to take the Polyjuice potion until she died to ensure that the body found and buried by guards was that of her son. Barty Crouch jr could have been out for years as he had become immune to the effects of the imperius curse his father had him placed under. He also had the power to still cast the Morsmordre spell (The dark mark in the sky) at the World Cup. Also being behind bars in prison doesn't necessarily make people less powerful. Look at Bellatrix Lestrange, when she killed Sirius she had been out of Azkaban for only about a month maybe a little longer
Actually I've just realised, you only have that idea of Moody because you're a movie fan, it's the only possible explanation. If you had read the books and were an actual fan, you wouldn't need me to point out these more than obvious facts from my knowledge of the lore, derived from reading the books and waiting for every tidbit of information released on Pottermore via articles from Jo Rowling
I think not tbh. Harry may be powerful, but he doubt he has that much experience, compared to men like Moody (he has a lot, but still not enough). He also isnt skilled in potions, which is something it s stated you actually need a lot, and although he is highly intelligent, he sometimes sees things with prejudice and acts following emotions too much
