  • We've put over 10,000 miles on our rig and here are some of the thing we like and some of the quirky things we have found.

    Excellent review, I don’t think it’s much of a 4 season campervan.
    Water filters are never installed prior to sale. Especially if they are winterized or need winterization at the dealer.
    I use those magnet lights in my Horizon. One in the pantry and one under my microwave for more light.
    I recommend taking the Bolt to Forest City, Iowa. Winnebago service is amazing.
    I took my Horizon there at 6 months with 43 items, most small and one large issue.
    They fixed everything in 5 days. Go to Forest City, make a trip out of it.
    I wouldn’t let any Rv dealer repair shop touch it. An appointment at Forest City is well worth the trip.
    I go,there yearly. With my 2007 and now my 2020 Winnebago diesel.
    They build the Bolts, they know them I said and out.

    Awesome review I just saw a KL model that I like but is fairly used and as you say no one reviews them but only dealers. We appreciate your video and anything else you can review in the future about the unit is so welcome. Again thank you and many blesings to you friend.

    Thank you so much for this video. We have a Winnebago Era there are so few reviews it is exciting to see any owner feedback on any van anything like our Era.

    I came close to buying one in 2020. I liked the idea of the Volta system being able to power the AC during the day. We would be traveling with a dog and I thought it would be great if we wanted to leave her while my wife went off on hikes or tours. As you said in your video actual user reviews are pretty slim.
    I will have to look through your other videos to see what issues you had with the Volta system.
    Thanks for the video.

      Juli and I need to do a comprehensive review of the unit thus far. We have added and upgraded a few things and we can speak to the user experience in general. Overall, we love the concept, like the reality and tolerate the short comings.

    Thanks for the owner review. Sorry you both had such a tough time. Ironically for me it is between a Boldt or sportsmobile. Also interested in off road experience you have. Keep the videos coming!!

    Thank you for the review and how does the Sprint drive easy? I like MB but I know they are expensive to maintain routine one we can probably handle it but if it's a major one I probably need take it to the dealer to fix it 😢 I understand a new RV design there were bugs to work out workers and dealers May not familiar with the design and how to put it together 😅

      @@americanpromisedland What's the lowest temps you can take the Boldt to? We have a Travato and we did a lot of 10-20 degree nights but as soon as it hit single digits for an extended period, the pipes froze even though they advertise it's "inside the coach". Winnebago can't be bothered to put any kind of insulation and pipes sit between sheet metal of van and flooring. They're all fair weather vehicles -- people do say good things about Revel though so I wonder.

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland  ปีที่แล้ว

      We were in Spokane Washington last winter. Got down to the teens. The Boldt has tank heaters and dual pane windows (except the cab). The only thing that froze was the macerator pump on our gray tank. The heater pad Winnebago installed on that pump didn’t make it to the pump body but on the pump housing. The insulation is not adequate for full sub-zero stays but the wife won’t want to camp that way anyway. RV’s will never be as good as stick built homes so the limitations are expected. I’ve seen a few builds that could handle extreme cold but they cost as much as a house.

      @@americanpromisedland Good tip. I’m sure my macerator has frozen up maybe I didn’t notice. Since we do not have any kind of heater i’ll put some antifreeze down there next time it’s cold

    We have a 2020 Boldt KL. It is NOT a 4x4. We bought it used and have not had significant problems other than crosswinds. Question for you. What types of problems did you have in crosswinds? We feel that we can get blown around even unexpectedly at times.

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are in northern Arizona and it can be quite windy in the high desert. The wind assist is crazy on these vans. Slowing down will help alleviate some of the assists issues but our greatest improvement came from our suspension upgrade. We do wish that the cross wind assist could be disabled like you can disable the lane assist but until that mod comes along it’s just going to be a white knuckle drive sometimes. Good luck and hope we see you out on the road!

    I have a BL as well. Where did you get the stick on mirror that’s attached next to your bathroom door? Amazon?

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got it at Lowe’s. I used 3M double sided tape to affix it to the panel. I had to remove the frame (cheap plastic) from around the mirror to get it to fit. Measure the width/length and stroll the mirror section. I think I paid $12.

    We're looking at a 2020 KL. What are some common Boldt problems to look for?

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh boy, where to start? If it’s brand new be sure that the Volta system is working properly. That it charges from shore power, while driving, and from Solar. The black and grey tanks can have issues when you go to drain them. Sometimes the pull cables will pull right from the trap door fixture and it can get stuck open, closed or in between. The macerator pumps can get jammed and burn out fuses. The awning can decide that it wants to open all on its own, sometimes when driving. Those would be the most serious. Every new RV will have something but for us the Volta system not working properly was the biggest. Good luck with your purchase and remember to have lots of patience the first year you own it. We’ve just now got most of it dialed in.

    Thank you. 'All' RVs are horribly manufactured, unless very specialized. If you like the majority apects, consider it a win, fix it, improve it and make it work for you. What they don't tell you, is to severly lower expectations. There are greedy stock holders who need their f'n money.....Safe travels :)

    How has it been since the Volta system was fixed? Any other issues?

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've had some minor issues that I have fixed on my own. The Volta system has been awesome since we had the Volta tech come out and fix it properly. We can run the AC in the coach for hours if needed and the system charges very fast when driving. we will have a 1 year, 20,000 mile review come out soon. We have been behind on videos and plan to catch up soon. Thanks for watching!
