The lead singer of the Mavericks, Raul Francisco Martinez-Malo was born August 1965. I discovered them just recently, in 2023, by accident. I was in another room where I could hear them playing on You Tube, in Alburquerque, New Mexico. I stopped what I was working on and walked back into the den to sit, to watch, to dance and thoroughly enjoy these talented musicians and their exceptional lead singer, and musician as well, Raul Malo. Very talented , to transform from Rock to Country and also perform in Spanish..He’s from Miami ( Cuban born) and so is the original band. From 82-87 he had a local Rock band named the Tomboys and the Basics. Played all the local schools and street festivals. His original guitarist back then is the other guitarist in Santana..
The Mavricks are a really ģreat band , the drummer Paul really knows how to keep driving the pace , the vry best evxr!!!

Just saw them last month for the first time at the Count Basie Theater. 2024. Let me tell you I had never heard of them…I CAN’T believe it.. until a few months ago by a friend of ours. It was SOULD OUT! The place ROCKED FOR THE FULL TWO HOURS, I think I threw out my back lol, I never stopped, I never had so much fun in my Life! We dragged a sister with us who really didn’t want to go BOY did she have a rockin time and was so happy she went. I love their music! So much talent so much fun! Can’t say enough! ❤️❤️❤️

Just got to mention iconic lead guitarist Eddie Perez! With those terrific guitar licks, superb vocal harmonies, that gorgeous long shiny black swinging hair, sensuous ‘rock god’ moves and sexy, lithe dancing, he gives the Mavs a fabulous party atmosphere! Doesn’t hurt that he’s perfectly built and very very easy on the eye either 🥵

It's still my dream to hear Mavericks live. Omg, they have it all...brass, 'squeezebox', most fun keyboardist ever, great others in accompaniment and of course the fabulous voice of the one and only Raul. They are the entire package of make you get out of your seat and on your feet band. I'm 68 yo and they still make me dance, lol!

I adore this band. They are so good. Upbeat and very entertaining. Glad they are still around but sad I never see them participating in the country scene anymore. Thank goodness for u-tube.

You are absolutely correct Martha, and only 13 days ago you were in there listening in mind and spirit. I will be 76 in a couple months time. My feet still taps the floor and i have a little imaginary woman to have a little dance. My little Yorkie terrier, Ruby, died in December, otherwise we would have a bit of a dance together. Your write up certainly made me feel to say, it is great to enjoy music and sounds that makes us feel good. The Mavericks is a band and a group that is so special and professional that if I could afford the extravagance and the financial luxury , I would go the miles to hear and see them perform. The beauty of TH-cam we can switch on to a concert right into our home. I am listening to this concert they recorded in 2013, and I am feeling great to be there, listening and enjoying the great inspired show. I am going to get a glass of Glenfiddich whisky on ice, and soak up the illusive atmosphere and make believe that I am there. The days and time goes away so fast we have to be grateful to God for the ability and good health to enjoy a bit of living alone as family togetherness is only an illusion and is not in their minds and heart to embrace a little enjoyment whilst still alive. Thanks to the Band, they are humorous, grossly entertaining and great fun to the ears and our sights. Have a great weekend where ever you are.

Cryin shame was my 1st. Song went to record store in North Miami Bch and got all their songs CD store owner gave me their 1st signed cd .Saw and met bk stage at Parker Playhouse Ft Lauderdale what a treat still rockin to the Mavericks

Never get tired of the mavericks
I've never seen the Mavericks live but I did see Raul Malo open for John Prine in Indianapolis. He was a last minute stand in and couldn't believe how well his music was received. It was just him his guitar and his voice. We let him know how impressed we were with his songs. Multiple standing ovations and when he came to the end we were all clapping and cheering him until John Prine motioned him back out to do an encore. We were all blown away with how good he sounded and the louder we clapped and cheered the more he poured it out. Just incredible. I'm sure he still remembers it too.
Yes, I can easily believe this!! Raul Malo is extraordinary!! All his band is great and I know that Raul has that command that he could cover the whole thing by himself!!💖💖💖💖😊

Raul Malo opening for Prine??? Damn, what a night that would have been. Prine always went out of his way to promote and showcase anyone opening for him. I was lucky enough to see Prine once, in New Orleans, and he was getting Shovel & Rope some of their first exposure.

I've been a diehard Mavericks fan since i discovered their country-rock twang way before they came out with their Trampoline lp. I saw them LIVE that year & Raul Malo & company were AMAZING!!!
Saw them 2 weeks ago in Royal Oak. I have to say one of the best live concerts ever. Absolutely impossible to sit still and not dance the whole time. I have listened to the Maverick’s for years, but to see them live gives you a better a appreciation of their talent

There' s only two bands I could listen to and never get tired of hearing. The Mavericks are one of them. Every show they bring it. Been fortunate to have seen them four times live. The best one was up close and personal at a club called the Longhorn Saloon yrs. ago.

Listening to all these songs takes me back to when I saw them in Fredericton, NB Canada. I will never forget this show. One of my all time favourite bands. They don’t get enough recognition for sure. Love you guys. You’re amazing guys.

This concert was shortly after I went to see them at a small (sold out) venue in Capistrano. I decided to sit outside the stage door and listen with my dog. When they took a break the whole band came out and Robert Reynolds came right over, and after chatting for a while, invited me to be his guest at an upcoming show in LA! Of course I went but sadly it was the last time I saw him play with the band!😪
You Lucky Girl, I hope that your Dog was over the Moon! I am a ardent listener of the Maverick, but recently I stumbled on Heidi Hauge and Xanur great performers and very entertaining.
Another wonderful concert ~ just wish they would release live DVD's of the evening.

Thanks for bringing this back around! I was excited to record this in 2013 and really peeved when I accidentally deleted in some years later. So am going to watch it all the way through now; it is really a great show. (And it is particularly fun to see beautiful Michael in his beautiful vest; never saw it again after this show.)
I heard them in person a few years ago at our theatre when they were promoting their latest CD. I was in the front row, center. I never sit still the whole show. It was amazing.

@@thomasnehrmann5051 Hello. I have loved the Mavs for about 22 years when I came across the “ Crying Shame” CD. I didn’t get to know them really well until my kids gave me an iPad. Once I went looking for them on You Tube I was in heaven. Since then more and more people have begun posting videos of them and there is such a choice now. I don’t know if any radio stations in Aus play them. I don’t think I’ll be lucky enough to ever see them over here but one lives in hope. Happy Mavs listening!!

That wee man with the hat on double bass is right on top of it he's an exceptional double bass player just love the tone from a double bass you can't beat I saw them in Glasgow a few years back the mirs said she didn't like that type of music 10 mins into the concert she said she'd never heard a band like the the whole group is bang on the money just an amazing band if you ever get the chance to see them go see them and you'll know why people say there underated very underated in my opinion
