Thanks for this! Got me excited. Mine arrives tomorrow!!
Thanks Aaron for the video! Concise yet super informative! Enjoyed watching and looking forward to more deep dives!
This is just the crossover product we needed. YESSS!
Howdy hey! Great breakdown of the new Ultra. What resolution does the hdmi output support?
hi, interested to know if all 1080 input signals will also record to 4k and convert them?
Would it kill any of these companies to put some real audio inputs on the thing? Mini XLR maybe?...phantom power?
That would make it wider for something almost nobody would be using
@@navpreetsingh8156 who, while live streaming, doesn't use a microphone? People using sign language perhaps. You are aware that one of the more popular mics at the moment is the SM7B, right? The RE-20 is also a very popular mic, as is the MKH50 for booming overhead, or the 416, NTG3, CMIT etc...the list goes on and on. Do you know what all of those mics have in common?...wanna take a guess?
You could easily mount an XLR mic to a camera, and bring in the audio via HDMI. If you're bothering to use a higher end XLR microphone you'd probably/maybe want a higher end audio mixer and preamp than what would fit into a device like this, as video is the focus here.
Have they fixed the HDMI out issue that was unfixable on the Pro?
Hi Aaron - Are you able to hear the other person/people that has joined your Instagram Live on this device?
Can you input 4K60 RGB 10-bit on the inputs? Is it 18Gbps?
WOW Everything you need in a small box.
Hi Aaron, thanks so much for the video! I noticed in the video inputs menu, there's an option for "livestream". What exactly is that? Does that allow you to use a camera to directly RTMP to the Yolobox Ultra? Thanks!
If you start a livestream on another yolobox you can add it as an input in another yolobox. It's using RTMP for that, and they've thought about opening it up to allow adding arbitrary RTMP inputs in a future update
Those refinements make the box looking lire appealing. I hope to purchase one for myself
Hello, I'm having major overheating issues with this device. Is this a defective unit or a known issue? I have Insta360 Webcam and DJI pocket three plus sony ZV-e10. The Yolobox seems a great solution for the set-up vs ATEM, which doesnt support USBC and USB ins. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks Aaron, I see you can add apps, have you tried installing speedify on the Ultra like you did on the YBP?
I haven't tried because the yololiv bonding service is built in and works really well
Sure, but that's not what I'm really asking 😉
Patiently waiting for mine to a arrive....
Can it now connect using e-sim instead of the simm card? Feb. 2024
Great review as always Aaron. ❤
Hi, I have a wedding that needs to be professionally livestreamed and wanted to know if there is a way to wirelessly livestream? Streaming at wedding ceremony venue where cameras will be set far apart, using HDMI cables won't be a good idea.
Take a look at some of the wireless HDMI transmitters like the Hollyland and Accsoon ones. They aren't cheap but they do a good job. Those essentially act as a wireless HDMI cable, so you'd use them with a video switcher of some sort like the YoloBox or an ATEM or whatever
Thanks for the video! Love to see NDI coming, Do you know if only 1 NDI source is allowed?
I produce our townhalls using Teams/NDI.
Cheers !
YEs currently only 1 NDI Input and output. We plan to add more.
Thank you for the video. Do you know if we can use the 2 usb in the same time as video input?
Yes you can also connect use dongle with them to have three SIM card cellular bonding!
I’ve been on the edge of getting one for days now, mainly for ISO recording in Monitor mode.
I have no prior experience with YoloBox before tho, so if I may ask a question: how does file naming/organization works for ISO recording? Is it suitable for multiple short takes (less than 10 minutes) in succession?
Thank you in advance for the help.
file naming/organization? what do you mean? what do you expect it to work like?
Too bad they missed to add more mic inputs and possibly with XLR. Also the screen could have been bigger. Not sure the app store with ads popping up that you can't take away are a kool idea.
Aaron, do you know if the usb-c to webcam feature sends a 4k res feed?
Yes in theory that USB-C port supports that. We'll slowly implement this!
with the addition of ultra - would there be any real reason to pickup an atem mini pro iso now?
Well the cost difference is huge... $295 for the ATEM Mini Pro and $495 for the ISO vs $1500 for the yolobox Ultra. But really they are very different things for different purposes so it depends on what you need
¿Magewell DM or Ultra? I know there are many differences, I am just thinking reliability while streaming. Thanks
Ultra uses QualComm SnapDragon 865 that has 1.7 more times CPU than Magewell(QualComm 845)
@@frankfengzhu not everything is related to CPU.
@@RadioElRespeto I agree. With ample tests before the production, I believe both will get you a reliable live stream. Bigger CPU means possibilities to more complex tasks.
This device looks amazing! I've been desperately waiting for BlackMagic Design to come out with a 4K version of the ATEM Mini Pro and it seems like they just refuse to do so. This would be an amazing alternative and also gives you the built-in monitor. I'm really thinking it may be time to make a switch.
why not!
Have they added the "video follows audio" feature yet to make it easier for single operators to switch?
It's on the top of the roadmap! More One-Man-Band friendly.
Very good video!
Hello, great video. A few questions: Did you had a dji osmo pocket 3 connected to the YoloBox? And if so, was it connected through hdmi? Can I connect 2 or even 3 dji osmo pockets at the same time? Also, I do a lot of live streaming and I want to be able to read the comments that the viewers post. Can I see them on the YoloBox?
There is no HDMI output of the Osmo Pocket 3 at the moment. It was connected over USB-C as a USB webcam. You should be able to connect two Osmo Pockets over USB. I only have one, but I connected an Osmo Pocket and a DJI Action 3 at the same time. You do have the ability to read and show comments on the stream using this as well! Keep an eye out for next week's video, I have a demo of that feature! I've also shown that feature in the YoloBox Pro in past videos on the channel, and it works the same with the Ultra.
1. How many 4K cameras i can have connected to the ultra? Can i put 4x4K cameras and record 4K internally? 2. While recording in 4K25 100mbit/s, can i stream as 1080p25 5mbit/s ? 3. Since the iso files are recorded, do we get an xml file for all the switching angles we did during the live show?
How high can you set the ISO recording bitrate? IIRC the ATEM mini line will do up to 70 Mbps or so. I suppose it doesn't have to be that high for h.265. Also how hot does it get recording ISOs of all 4 inputs while streaming?
I ran it for about 2 hours during a livestream yesterday, it got warm, but not as hot as some other devices I've tried. I also didn't have it on a stand yet and that will help too since it will give it some more airflow. I will have to test the max bitrate a bit later, but remind me next Sunday!
@@aaronpk Thanks for the great job, been patiently waiting for reviews.
1-Regarding the recordings, are they 10-bit colour at 4k60 (assuming that’s the highest frame rate)?
-Are ISO recordings also 10bit?
2- Is the HDMI-out also a 10-bit feed at max resolution & framerate?
3-what’s the max recording bitrate for the highest res & framerate.
4- Can you have a 1080p stream/output/recording, WHILE doing 1080p punch in&out from any of the 4k inputs (with no loss in output resolution)?
5-does the storage choice affect the ability to record 10bit or the max bitrate available? SD-card vs USB storage
Thanks
Might have missed this, but have they added OSC / or is there any support for Companion now?
PS - and can you split the HDMI audio channels, if you have different mics on L&R?
Still no OSC/Companion support, but I believe they are interested in adding it!
Can you ISO record the USB input as well? I did not see that on the list at 3:34.
Looks like not at the moment
We could add that in a future update, could be very soon. What's your use case though?
Hi Sir, Can we connect a USB Bluetooth adapter for wireless MIC to yolobox ultra.
if the bluetooth adapter shows up as a generic audio device on a computer and doesn't require special drivers then it should work
Will the PK1 case work for this?
It's significantly bigger than the Pro so the existing models aren't compatible, but there is a PK1 desktop stand for it now! geni.us/AWdle
GREAT REVIEW !!
How many USB cameras can you connect to it? Three?
2 USBA + 1 USBC = 3
This needs dual SIM connection bonding. That would make it much better
Can you live-stream to multiple platforms simultaneously?
Yeah! You have to enable it in settings first.
Great review. I've been watching these evolve for the past few years, and now I'm close to getting the Ultra. My main questions are: Can this integrate *_seamlessly_* with OBS running on my Linux laptop (where I do all of my streaming and creation), and can I use this to combine my cameras and feed them as inputs into my meetings with Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc. like I do today with my CamLink 4k plugged into USB? If I can replace the CamLink and it will feed those inputs into OBS as input sources (_without proprietary drivers_), I'm sold!
The YoloBox USB output is UVC, so it should work without any drivers. It will either mirror what you see on the YoloBox screen, or you can switch it to show the program output. You won't get separate inputs from each camera, so it will work more like the CamLink still. This is just my personal opinion, but I don't think using the USB output of the YoloBox into OBS is the best use of it, since you'd be missing out on the streaming/bonding features that the YoloBox has. If you're already using OBS and adding graphics there, then I'd recommend an ATEM Mini instead, which would let you offload the switching between multiple cameras away from the computer.
Nice review! I want to catch up on your long form live stream from yesterday.
One question I see on their units, has or is jitter resolved. Noticed on sample streams it sounds good but jitter which could be frame synch issue.
My understanding is that the stuttering was mostly caused by the CPU being too busy, and the good news is this one has a much more powerful CPU so that should be happening a lot less now.
I must admit it drove me a bit nuts seeing internal frame drops on a single camera 1080p30 shot during the long form livestream you did. I was really hoping it would be a thing of the past with the new CPU.
Yeah I don't know what was going on there. I did have a lot of things connected to it by that point, 4 cameras, a USB camera, a few multi-camera layouts, etc.
@@mikechannell727 Yes we analyzed the footage yesterday. We found it was a bug caused by turning on the web url overlay. We are fixing it now.
@@frankfengzhuThanks for looking into the problem, I really feel it's the number one issue that holds back YoloLiv devices from proper broadcast use as opposed to hobbyist or small business. Having bought a YoloBox Mini and suffered with the internal framerate drops, this issue is the only reason I am not currently prepared to upgrade to an Ultra.
I understand internal framerate drops on hugely complex scenes with tons of graphics, but for reasonably simple 1080p scenes I need it to be rock solid.
Can you use an Elgato Stream Deck with it somehow?
Unfortunately not at the moment. I know they're interested in adding some sort of remote control feature, so we just have to wait and see what they end up with!
Great upgrade :)
Yes what excited you the most?
@@frankfengzhu 4k output, external drive recording support, seperate individual feed recording, tripod mounting facility, h265 compression what not, almost everything - recently I purchased black magic item mini pro, so little bit regrets 😭
If they were going to make it bigger they should have added a slot for an SSD, that way you have the speed and space to do the ISO multi-cam recording.
Maybe. Currently you can use the USB port for external hard-drives.
Is there a pk1 stand for the yolobox ultra
Yes there is! geni.us/AWdle
Thanks for your reply to my question
I have one more question is it possible to make a stand that can work eIther horizontal or vertical as we now have
More inputs on the ultra . What I mean is if I'm doing say a tik tok or insta video, I would like to be able to turn the stand to the appropriate position .is this possible??
Does it work with 5g chip?
No but it supports 3-sim cellular bonding though.
Have you noticed any frame rate issues / discrepancies? It might just be with pal frame rates (25, 50) but its a growing concern of mine in an otherwise amazing product.....
I've noticed that it doesn't stick to a constant frame rate, I do see the frame rate indicator in the corner change depending on how much work it's doing.
@@aaronpk it makes streaming sports very difficult to watch.....
An update is coming on next Monday to have all the frame rate issue fixed. We have someone very good at telling frame duplication and missing in our beta test team and he had some good result.
All I can say about this Ultra is: DAAAAAAMN!
It's definitely their best one yet!
No remote control or stream deck support?
No.1 priority in the roadmap.
I wanted to use my Yolobox pro for an event last week but ended up using my laptop (stream deck plugin for ecamm live) since I needed to quickly change scenes and titles for the on stage guests for a hybrid on site / zoom meeting. This would have been a nightmare without a stream deck.
@@AmazeStudios Give us some time!
Did you get online with tiktok? My yolo instream wouldn't work with TT in the US in 2023 and I had to return it. I'd still try this if you confirmed you actually were able to livestream from this unit to TT?
My TikTok account doesn't have access to the livestreaming feature to test this 😭
What does the error say? We have quite some Instream tutorial videos! www.youtube.com/@YoloLivTech/shorts
@@frankfengzhu No error, the video feed coming in wasn't congruent with the TT video format. Regardless of which camera was being used in both hdmi and usb ports, the ratio would work okay with Instagram but was unusable once switched over to TT. Tech support tried a couple of things with updates before I sent it back without any improvement. I eventually ran into some similar problems when I went to the latest version of Instagram. Vertical streaming is the only use I need a switcher for and I was hoping the ultra might fix the compatibility in the US for TikTok.
@@aaronpk You'd be doing a service to your viewers and yolo to borrow an account and test that specific feature. Running "phone" native apps on the device would be very handy but only if they work.
@@oliiloTUBE I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I was able to log in to TikTok and open the "create post" page and I see the cameras from the YoloBox in the preview in the TikTok app. So the app has no problem logging in and seeing the camera, so livestreaming should work fine. What errors did you see with the instream before?
HEY HOW CAN I GET THIS PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME, AM IN AFRICA , UGANDA
Do they support program 4k output when live streaming?
Was kinda hoping they'd implument multi cam replay, not just program... That would be an amazing feature for all those who use (and love) yolobox for sports.
so like tapping on an individual camera and replaying that? I suspect it would be possible to do that with the cameras that are selected for ISO recording. Good suggestion.
A matter of time to add that. A lot of our users have requested this!
@@frankfengzhu it would be an amazing feature.... It's the one thing that forces many of the organisations I work with to invest in expensive vmix rigs.... (as good as they are)... The only reason they're doin so is multi cam instant replay... (sports).
So if the ultra can implument this.... Literally a couple of leagues worth of teams hear in the UK would get one....
Yolobox products are ideal for lower tier 'one man band' sports streaming....
@@aaronpk yeah.... Replaying the same event from selected cams... (ie not just program feed... But cam 2, cam 3 also.... Basically replying goals from all angels....not just the angle that was live....
can it do green screen?
Yeah! Same chroma key feature as in the YoloBox Pro, here's an earlier video about that! th-cam.com/video/MAL7ZoHprz4/w-d-xo.html
Nice
any ndi for black magic
It's very unlikely we'll ever see anything with NDI from Blackmagic
When is this launching?
Should be shipping this week!
Some already listed a while ago. Where are you based?
Ok. So it basically destroys the falling Atomos as semi pro monitors. I bet YOLO box is also better built and quality. The NDI, I love it.
It's definitely a lot more than a monitor! If you only want a monitor I'd look at other options since you can get a plain monitor a lot cheaper.
@@aaronpk Atomos has been trying to ad different services like NDI and streaming, but it’s a joke. It’s not stable and you never know if it works or not. So I think think for similar usage YOLObox is a better option. With the NDI it’s just genius. NDI has been a great and necessary service in many ways. As a clean monitor with recording YOLObox not a best solution maybe. Do the new ultra have some monitoring tools like wave, aspect etc? I see in your video that it has a monitor function.
That's true, I even did a live demo of the AtomX Cast last year th-cam.com/users/live6_j4Rs25h5s?si=bDOUviyyTmEZE7nd
The yolobox doesn't have any of the monitoring features you'd find in that kind of pro monitor, but I agree it does the streaming part better!
Network bonding is free?
No, it's a subscription service you can get from their website
@@aaronpk Is there any one time payment device for network bonding?
If they can add iso SRT they can call game over
That would be fantastic!
what do you mean by " iso SRT"? To record SRT feed separately? That doesn't many things to do for our tech team.
