DJI Mini 2 SE Complete Flight Test and Review!

- In this video we get the first look and first flight test of the DJI Mini 2 SE. I demonstrate the Boomerang and Helix QuickShot feature. I show the Automatic Exposure Bracketing (AEB) for photos, and also take a 180° and Wide-angle panorama pictures. The video was shot in 2.7K 30 fps. I also did some speed tests in normal, sport, and cine modes. The best part of this drone is the $339 price point. I hope you enjoy this first flight!

Specs say the Mini 2 SE video bitrate is 40 mbs, not 100 mbs. Where did you get 100 from?
I saw that on DJIs website too. I quoted the 100 mbs from a Drone XL article. I checked one of the video files, and you are correct. It is 40 mbs. Thank you, I likely would have missed that if not for your comment.
So does that mean the raw files would be smaller in mb compared to the mini 2? I guess its not as good for post editing? Less "info?"
@@Matanumi Im pretty that only impacts the footage preview on your phone and not the image you capture on the drone itself
@@MatanumiYes they're smaller and it's not great for using if you're a content creator. I only bought it because i wanted one with the same speed and live view as the mini 2 and mini 3 i'm just flying it for fun 😅 Next drone will probably be the DJI FPV with the goggles with a top speed of 140km/h

One thing that you did this time, that I really liked was that you put the screen recording down in the corner of the video. Marcus, Very nice. As they say, you get what you pay for. Buy quality products and you can expect quality. I was actually thinking about getting the Mini2 SE to replace my original Mini but decided not to. The original mini is a little tank and still performs perfectly. If it is windy or I need 4K or better quality I can go Phantom or Air 2S but I still enjoy the little mini a lot. So much fun just to fly. I think DJI outdid themselves in the mini category across the board. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to you I am seriously considering the Mini 2. Your comment in regards to not losing signal near the cell tower could mean the DJI drones have better RF filtering which would reduce interference from other radio signals. The locations you choose to film and operate the drones is well thought out because you get to see the image quality of the drones camera.

Hi Marcus, good review of the Mini 2 SE, you must have been up all night getting this video ready. I needed to do a Mini 2 SE firmware update with my Mini 2 SE before flying. The little guy got 28 satellites in a minute. Had a solid connection out over a mile. Since I may use the heavy Mini 1 Li-Ion batteries, I FAA registered my Mini 2 SE and put tail numbers on the drone. I love how these DJI drones work correctly right out of the box. Looking forward to seeing your little Mini 2 SE bird flying over the Snake River Canyon. BTW, I think that the maximum bit rate of the Mini 2 SE is 40Mb/s, not 100Mb/s.

Impressive. Very solid "beginner" drone. Holds so still in the air you might think it's a camera on a gimble. Missing some "pro" features of DJI, but massively better than any 'toy' drone.

Great little drone Marcus, i have the original mini 2 and only film in 1080p. I think it is fab and it saves a hell of a lot on sd card. Here is the funny part, when friends watch my videos they all say 4K makes such a difference. Little do they know it's 1080p. I personally cannot see a vast difference in 1080p and 4K, i have compared time and time again. So in ending, 1080p is more than good enough for my videos. Great review Marcus, but oops about the 100mbs and as i'm sure you know it's 40.
That probably saves you a few minutes battery flight time too. Less power draw from the camera
I ordered mine last week but release date wasn't until yesterday, so my delivery is expected on the 28th from Amazon. It's my first ever drone. I'm going travelling in the summer and wanted something to take so I thought I'd get the Mini 2 SE for my trip, so I wanted to get it now so that I could practice with it and get used to it. It looks to be a great little drone for a beginner like me. Looking forward to flying it.
Good choice. Be sure to get plenty of practice before you go. The idea is to get familiar enough with the controls that you don't have to think about what stick to move, your brain and hands are in sync so it becomes a natural function.
It is a great first drone, it's very easy to fly. You will love it.

It always amazes me how perfectly flat a lot of American cities are, even though there's mountains in the distance.
In Wales, while we have much shorter mountains comparatively, the whole country is basically completely hilly, you cannot escape the hills even in our capital, most hills in Wales are only around 400m-500m high with our highest mountain being 1085 metres high.
Yes, my area is on the flat part of the valley. It's amazing how fast they can put up 200 more homes. 🙂
Wales is slightly smaller than our smallest state. lol Like Texas is 33 times bigger than wales.

That Air 2S is such a great buy right now! I'd jump on that one. You are right though; an Air 3 could appear at any time.

I just sent back a potansic atom 2 se drone. And I'm thinking about getting this one. Can you tell me is the camera a 3 axes one or not. I see you did a review on the potensic drone also and in your opinion can you say what witch drone is the better one to buy.
The Mini 2 SE has a 3-axis gimbal, and it is my favorite choice as a beginner drone. 👍
Supposedly the Mini 2 se has the 2.0 transmission system which is a huge plus in areas with a lot of interference. Between the signal and the price it looks like a winner.

Very good video for someone, like me, who is thinking of starting a new hobby. What I didn't really understand was if the screen on the RC is included in the package or if it's an extra accessory. In one sequence you hold the RC and in the next there is a screen stuck in the RC. Clarification? Thanks! :-)

Hello Great video! I used to fly drones a few years ago I miss flying them and I saw this drone at sams club today and I was thinking about purchasing one. Do I need to register this one with the faa to fly it or is that for bigger drones only?

I purchased one today and took it for a flight I forgot how much I missed flying drones its a fun quad! The tech has come a long way since I last flew I got some really Cool aerial photos as well. What Quad by DJI would you recomend that flys close to something like the Blade 350 qx I have a few of those in storage but I was really impressed with the build of the DJI and the app integriation as well.

Great drone and excellent review. There are two things that are preventing me from buying this drone. The first is that there is no SDK available for third party apps like Litchi. The second is the fact that it is not standard remote ID compliant. If and when those two items are addressed I'll be buying this drone.

I just got my 2 SE. A novice. I did have 2 flights. One going up over my roof to look at shingles. And one around my yard in ovals and then turning back toward me and flying back to me. Your video was very helpful. A question. In your experience how durable is the Gimble Protector? It seems easily broken. Were can I get an OEM one? Link? Is the Mini2 one the same as the Mini 2 SE? Enjoy that Mini 2! The gimbal cover that comes with it seems to work fine for me.
I don't know if they have adjusted something in the firmware but my Mini 3 Pro since it was taken out of the box has not asked to do one single compass calibration which I have not done and it still lands where it should in RTH. My mini 2 used to ask about every time
DJI has really made these drones easy to use!
This is going to be my first foray into drones. I’ve spent a lifetime playing flying sims so will this be a pretty easy transition? I plan to start out flying very low and not very far to acquaint myself with the sensitivity etc.
You'll have no trouble at all. This one is so easy to fly!
I just got the same model. Its my first drone, so definitely a newbie when it comes to this stuff. I'm having issues with it recording either pictures or video. I just installed a brand new micro SD card, but am not seeing anything that I have recorded. Any pointers? Or things I need to look at? I just updated the latest firmware. Thanks.
The drone should be recording to the SD card. You should find you files there. If that is not the case then you may have a defective drone. Contact DJI support, they are very helpful.

Do a long press on the A on the screen and wait for that green circle light to complete before the drone goes up to its initial height 1. Something meter, i saw you just press it once the A on the side then that green circle goes automatic and it will fly. Do you know if theres a settings fir that, my drone is only 2 weeks old
Thank you, Rey! Once you touch the auto take off button it gives you the button in the middle of the screen. You hold that down until the green circle closes. The drone will then take off and hover. I hope that helps!

I was told today that the (djI mini 2 se) has somthing called a geofence. Is there a way to find out before purchase the unit if I'm with in the fence or outside the fence. The reason is I'm 5 km from a small country airport. The path of the runway it right ouve my house.

I suspect you'll be fine. Download the B4Ufly app to check if it is controlled airspace.
