The only one i don't really agree on, is the relationship between Aaron and Sam, because i feel like she took advantage of him, they met when he was a kid, and maybe she didn't make a move on him right then but the fact that they got together, married, AND had a kid when he barely sort out his life (he was still a kid basically !) while she was already an adult woman, and with TWO kids of her own honestly makes me SHIVER !! .

But I would not have considered guys his age that I knew when they were kids (or that I was their teacher, for example). But I never knew my husband before he was an adult, and that is the difference.

The Florence Pugh/Zach Braff relationship really set a lot of people off, and they still comment on it. I have no idea why, she was post-college age when they started dating. A lot of people acted as if she was in high school and he was the creepy math teacher.

I agree with most of them except Aaron and Sam Taylor Johnson, she legit has kids the same age as him and she was his Director for a renowned film of his that kinda booted his career & he was a freaking teenager when they met... sounds like a classic case of grooming to me, he was barely a consenting adult, it's ironic she directed one of the movies in The Fifty Shades Series since there is Elena Robinson and what she did to Christian. One of the boys I used to go to school with, I am pretty sure his mother was groomed by his father cause they tick a lot of the same boxes as Aaron & Sam! @@Trix897 i meant it was odd her future husband met celine at 12 or 13. Feels like grooming but did read they dated when she was 18 or so, and dude mortgage his house to help her career. Maybe he loved her talent that he believed in it and it was professional at the time, and celine said she fell for him when she got older. Her parents weren't having it but did get over it and the couple did stay together until he passed. Last conversation was him, while resting from cancer, to work and do her thing. Shows he did put her first.

Yes, it's a little more one-sided towards the older female relationships since that tends to trigger people more, but it's a fun bit.
I believe in “/2 +7 years rule” - divide years of the older person by 2, add 7 and you get the lowest age the younger person should be. The older both of the partners are, the gap can be bigger so someone who’s 32 can date someone who is 23 or older, while someone who is 60 can go out with someone 37 or older.
BUT - if you already have kids, IMO the person you’re dating shouldn’t be the age of your kids or younger...

I’ve never dated someone my own age. It wasn’t a goal or requirement I made for myself; it just turned out that way. I’ve had relationships with a 4 year age gap and as much as a 25 years. It wasn’t a problem.

I don't blame people for having a problem with huge age gaps in relationships. A lot of times someone older, specifically looking for someone younger is abusive. And a lot of times those relationships become toxic very quickly.
And I don't care what anyone says no woman/man in their 40s should be dating someone in high school. That is beyond exploitative.

I dated several men at least a decade younger than I am. My emotional age has always been a lot younger than my physical age, so it makes sense. So what? We’re all consenting adults, so if I’m happy, why is it a big deal?

I think like 10 years. Maybe 15 or 20 if you’re over the age of 26 in your brains completely developed. But yeah it’s interesting to watch countdowns like this but I just really think age gap relationships or sometimes a bad idea. Even if you’re both adults the person who’s 30 years older than you still has 30 years more life experience. Even if you’re both adults who can make your own decisions the person is 20 years older still has 20 years more life experience.
I used to think the same thing. But once I hit my 30s... a 10 year age gap didn't seem as weird, going older. 5 years was pushing it going younger. But now I'm closer to 40... 10 years younger isn't a big deal to me.

True story: My dad's parents were 32 years apart, and they had 10 children together...in the 1930's. My own parents were 8 years apart, so age gaps are normal in my family. Age really is nothing but a number.

There's certain US states that have 16 as the legal age of consent. The same with Canada. If a minor consents with an adult, it's illegal for that adult to proceed to do anything sexual with that person. If the minor doesn't consent, it's still illegal. I'm not implying just older man with young women. It applies to older women with young men as well. Don't forget that.

I like what the list started out with Florence Pugh (who is in that upcoming movie with Harry Styles directed by Wilde) that she's a 24 year old, that's 6 years (or 7 depending on the state) over the age of consent. Now, some would argue that there's an inherent power dynamic in the relationship the older person has over the younger person which is bullshit. Initially, I didn't think Nick and Priyanka were one those celeb couples dating to raise their profiles but clearly and happily, I was wrong. However. the couple on this list I am so SO rooting for is Harry and Olivia. I love the flip of a female director falling for her actor like the many male directors who have done so but also, I love that he seems to be aging out of his bad boy player days where he was breaking hearts (Taylor Swift's most famously) into this serious relationship. Also. I love that it's an older woman who has, in some sense, helped to tame the beast, so to speak, because as Nick Jonas said older women know what they want, aren't at all into playing games, and know themselves as well as have the confidence to pursue it so screw anyone who sees anything wrong with going these obviously loving and happy relationships between consenting adults.

So in the question you're asking that can be fine cause situations like that do happen and it can be a super healthy functioning relationship but sometimes circumstances it can be. There’s a 20 year gap between my mum and dad. (Okay so they argue a lot these days,) but I’m sure they were happy and love dovey when they first met in the 80’s. They still love each other now it’s just that they don’t show it as much.

My cusion is married someone who's 10 years older than him he was 22 when he met her while she was almost 30 but he loves her badly and her seeing his kindness is what got them to get married. lot of relatives had issues with it even though it's ironic they did the same thing. I think that the narrator said that Aaron & Sam Johnson met in late 2008. By that time, Aaron had already turned 18, while Sam had turned 41 BEFORE he turned 18. I don't know about Sam being a family friend of Aaron's, but if that's the case, THAT'S when their relationship is very, very sus. Nevertheless, great for them & may they remain until death do they part. However, let's just hope that Sam doesn't pull a Melinda Gates & divorces Aaron, which will be Sam's second divorce. Hell, Aaron just turned 32 this past Monday on June 13! He's my age! I never thought of dating a woman older than me, but if I had, I wouldn't have wanted to be that much older than I was. I still don't want a woman 23 years, let alone anything close to 20 years, older than I am. Younger? Honestly, I don't think I would have ever guessed Olivia Wilde was that much older than Harry, despite the fact that she appeared in Hollywood about a decade before him. She looks so fabulous, and about the same age as him. I think they are awesome together.

Notice how most of these are women dating younger men? Men hardly ever get that much criticism/hate for dating younger women. It’s almost kinda expected. But women dating younger men is always a scandal.
I am only five years older than my wife. That isn't very much now that we have been together for more than thirty years. It was more pronounced when we first met, but in time we realized that it doesn't matter. It really only manifests itself in our taste in music because we went to high school in different decades, but that's really about all. The biggest difference between us is one that hasn't changed. I am 6'1" and 200#. Not a small man, but not a giant by any means. She is 4'6" and 89#. Tiny. REALLY tiny. Sometimes we joke that the only reason she married me is so I could reach all the top shelves for her. It is true that my superior reach is frequently handy. But that's not the only reason we got together and are still together two kids and five grandkids later.

Most of these are fine but the Aaron Taylor Johnson one is just creepy when you look into it. He was only 18 and she was 23 years older and his director at the time & it almost seemed like she groomed him tbh? Ugh i don't know but just seemed sketchy tbh.

If you’re older that 18, are living in your own apartment/house, and have your own income then I feel like you are mature enough to decide who you want to love and are entitled to love them no matter the age.
