That’s awesome that you post classic games like these I love watching football and it’s definitely something to do while facing this pandemic. Thank you!
JL King (I know this is an old post, but amazing game). As a Giants fan,...I’m not gonna lie. I was petrified of that Niners defense. They were soooo damn fast. I’ve watched it a few times & sometimes it doesn’t even look real. (Looks 3Xs speed).
@Robert Johnson So were the Packers and Patriots little dick offenses too? Because the Giants D shut them down too. Atleast Alex threw a couple touchdowns. Who else did he have to throw to besides Davis and maybe Gore? Crabtree couldn't seperate to save his life in this game.
I would say this is Eli's best playoff game ever, because of how tough he was. He took such an awful pounding from the relentless SF defense. He just kept getting up. But there were also the 2 SB wins, and the freezeout in GB. Oh yeah, he beat GB twice in the playoffs, at Lambeau, to advance to play Tommy and Bill in the big game, twice. How did that go? Eli and Phil are 1A and 1A as an all time NYG fan. Phil lead us beautifully most of the way towards his second SB. The rest of his team brought it home for him. Also, as a NYG fan , always refer to this as the Devin Thomas Game. He made some clutch plays.
I just watched this game and it was not good for Eli. The stat line was generous. There were many times that Eli got away with mistakes that could have easily cost him the game.
@@joemamaurmama In 2007 and 2011, the Patriots were averaging 37 and 32 points per game. Please explain what it was about Eli's 17 and 19 points that overcame just the average.
@@tomknapp6194 that would be the Giant's Defense. Pass rush that beat up on Tommy Terrific. To the tune of 18-1. Eli, and the rest of his team, (remember it's a team sport), got it done. In spectacular fashion I might add.
@@joemamaurmama Exactly. Eli didn't do anything that special. If the defense wasn't holding Brady, and multiple other pro bowl QBs, to one of his worst games of the year, what Eli did would most result in double digit losses. Something to think about. The 2007 and 2011 Giants defense combined for 15.1 points per game and an opposing passer rating of 74. Let's be honest, what QB cannot beat that? And Eli still needed multiple lucky plays for narrow last second wins. To really put it in perspective. If the giants opposition just put up their average points per game, Eli goes 2-6. And those 2 wins? Over Tampa Bay by less than a point and 2011 Packers by 2. Oh, yeah, Eli scored 37 that game. The facts are that the Giants face 8 straight playoff teams that were 6-23 points below their season average. Below average every single time. Eli barely win and he's called a playoff genius. And you say that Eli got it done. Eli had 10 points on drives that started inside the 49ers 30. Outside of that, in 15 drives, he crossed the 50 yard line 2 other times. And he needed 58 attempts for 316 yards and 2 TDs. With that many attempts, a good QB is pushing 500 yards. I don't understand what you are talking about.
5:05 - 5:45, this maybe the best pre-game intro I've ever seen, you don't need 5-10 minute long narrations like we are doing now, highlights, music, and keep the narration light, ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! and one of the best football games I've ever seen
This is the game that typifies the career of Eli Manning. Never easy always under duress. But still overcame the onslaught of a really good defense. Signature Eli.
Victor Cruz was such a monster this game. 125 yards in the first half against this vaunted 49ers defense with greats like Pat Willis and Navarro Bowman. Going up against Carlos Rogers who was an all-pro and pro bowl corner that year. Probably my favorite Giant of all time, largely because of his origin story, I mean how can you not love it. UDFA, small school, got free agent offers from 3 or 4 teams and picked the Giants as a kid from Jersey. He didn't have a lengthy successful career, largely because of injuries but he shined when it mattered most and that was in this season, which was his first active year since he was hurt as a rookie and didn't start much in 2010. 1500+ yards, 9 TDs, and named an all-pro in really what was his true rookie season, as an undrafted receiver, and wins a super bowl ring to cap it off. I didn't grow up in LT's era, so for me Cruz is definitely up there in terms of my favorite player to ever put on a NYG uniform. The only team in league history to get to and win a super bowl with a 9-7 regular season record, and arguably an even more impressive and improbable run than 2007. They had to go into Lambeau to play the 15-1 packers who were the defending champs, then go on the road to play the 13-3 49ers who were the league's best defense, and then cap it off by once again playing Tom Brady's 13-3 Patriots in the Super Bowl and upsetting them yet again. Oh and that's all after having to beat the Cowboys in Dallas in week 17, in a win or go home game to even make the playoffs in the first place.
Actually the Giants (2011), and the Ravens (2012) were a 4 seed and we're a conference winner those two years in a row. Now if this was before 2002 (the year they realigned everything to the now 32 teams), yeah both would be wild card.
This was a great era of the NFL as far as big games went. The two upsets of the Giants over THE PATRIOTS, for example, displayed the 'don't give up' mentality of all of football in the years ahead. Success on JUST A FEW big plays is akin to a late inning homerun by a Bucky Dent TYPE that eventually wins for his team in a playoff game. That's the Eli Giants of that great era.
Eli Manning's finest game as a pro; the Giants had absolutely no business winning this game against a superior team such as the 2011 49ers. This game display of toughness, resolve, and execution should be one of Eli's submissions to the Hall of Fame.
The giants have lost a shit ton in the post season with eli wtf are you talking about. Outside of the 2 playoff runs he never won a playoff game for 14 years lol. And he made the playoffs 4 other years
You know what type of players won this game for the Giants? Undrafted Victor Cruz, a 7th rounder in jaquin Williams a free agent cheap find in Devon Thomas . that's how you build a team. From round 4 down.
Eli needed a wheelbarrow to carry his balls out of the stadium with him after this game. Tough as nails and kept on taking the hits. We had a good oline so it's not like he got hit like this every week!!! He couldn't practice for these kind of hits and for him to not get thrown off his game is incredible!! Absolutely incredible performance by number 10. Talk about Mr. Cool Miss him and these days of Giants football.
If you’re a life-long Giants fan, you probably always were a huge Eli fan but this particular game is when he became a legend and an immortal Giant. This is where Eli put himself in the pantheon of the greatest Giants ever. What a gutsy performance.
People need to stop blaming Williams for this loss.... The 9ers were 1-13 on third down and their only 1st down was at the end of the game!!! They had two big plays / defensive blunders that gave them points
The ONLY time the giants scored in the 2nd half were BECAUSE of Williams turnovers, yes the play calling was a fail but make no mistake about it Williams IS the fall guy
21 years after the 1990 NFC Championship Game, we are back inside Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California, in what will be the Final Playoff Game ever inside the storied stadium. You couldn't ask for 2 better teams, the Giants and 49ers. Eli Manning and the Flu Game. He had a 103 fever a few days earlier and still managed to pull this off! "Iron Man Eli", indeed!
I don’t care what anyone says, Eli should be in the hall of fame. He qualifies based on yards past and the fact that he excelled in big games especially the superbowls. Troy Aikman made it and he was just a game manager who handed the ball to Emmit Smith. He was just on a good team but was never the centerpiece of the offense. The fate of the Giants was dependent on Eii Eli excelled in this game. He got absolutely demolished by the SF d-line but persevered . Look at 2:25:44, that is the mark of a warrior.
this is one of the best games ive ever seen....2 defensive juggernauts playing like it with clutch offense and special teams playing a factor. having all of that in a game is unique as fvck AND LET ALONE in an NFC title game
49er WildCat ugh same here but still was proud with how far the niners got that year considering how bad they were before harbaugh and Williams didn't deserve those death threats after the game.
As much as I want to as a, Patriots fan, hate Eli Manning, I can't. He's just tough, Son Of a Bitch, and you know what, how can anyone hate the guy? He's a legit great human being. This NFC Championship Game was amazing in that Manning didn't sustain an ugly injury that could've cost him his career. The beating he took in this game might be the reason why he's struggled since the 2012 season, even though they won the Superbowl 2 weeks after this game. The Giants OLine has been atrocious since 2012.
I argue Greg Roman's bonehead play calls that made the 49ers very inept on third-down and in the red zone in the 2011 NFC title game is one of my greatest moments.
This was a great playoffs in general. This game, the Super Bowl, Tebow and Broncos upsetting the Steelers, Patriots squeezing past Ravens and the classic Saints/49ers game. Plus for defensive fans the Texans/Ravens was a tough fought game. Great stuff
This has to be a top 5 all time toughest run to winning a SB. Matt Ryan Falcons 15-1 Packers at Lambeau Harbaugh Niners at the Candlestick Tom Brady Pats
I miss that defense and I miss Frank Gore. I don't miss that clusterfuck of a passing offense. I don't miss the penalties. I don't miss the offense pissing itself every time it went to Seattle. and i definitely do not miss the choking in the post season.
At least Kyle Williams had the last laugh on the 49er fans who gave him death threats after the 2011 NFC title game with a Super Bowl ring in 2015. The 49er fans should directed their death threats on Greg Roman.
This was the season, and particularly this game, that made me a believer in Eli Manning. In 2007, you could easily chalk up New York’s success to their great pass rush, a reasonably good running game, Brett Favre throwing one of his famous season killing interceptions, and Eli was able to not fuck things up during the postseason despite his best efforts (how Asante dropped that INT in Super Bowl 42, I’ll never know). But this season, so many times he carried the team on his back and was able to pull off a victory late in the game. I believe he set a then NFL record that year for 4th quarter touchdown passes, and pretty much all of them were necessary just to keep the Giants alive. And this game was the most impressive performance in my opinion, even more so than Super Bowl 46 because of how incredibly awesome that 49ers defense was. That evening, the Niners were on a warpath, and they beat the ever loving shit out of Eli, but the man just refused to take no for an answer, as he threw the ball 58 times, was sacked 6 times, hit numerous other times, yet didn’t turn the ball over ONCE. I know that one game or even one season doesn’t make a Hall of Famer, but Eli deserves to be in Canton someday, I don’t care what anyone says.
But Eli still had to do his own end of the bargain in 2007. If it wasn't for his game-winning drive to help Big Blue outlast the Patriots in SB 42, Michael Strahan wouldn't have a Super Bowl ring on his finger going into Canton.
Victor Cruz was a technician in the slot during that 2 minute drill at the end of the first half. The defense & Eli Manning will deservedly get the credit the most but Cruz had a monster game as in this NFC Championship game against San Francisco. Still one of the greatest NFC Title games in NFL history
Kyle Williams got the last laugh on 49er fans when he returned to the Bay Area and won a Super Bowl ring with the Denver Broncos in SB 50 at Levi's Stadium. Ditto for Vernon Davis.

best game of Eli's career
2:25:44 eli shows us what a true warrior he is
That's such an underrated play
Elite Eli Manning
best play of his career...shows exactly who he was as a player
Niners had a grown man defense back then
I miss it so bad.
Had kapernick never took a knee none of the controversy against the league would never have happened.
I missed it bad
What a difference 6 years makes; from both teams playing for a chance at the Super Bowl to now both teams having a combined 1-17 record.
Niners are back to being elite. The giants not so much
@@TheUnderratedSeries we back to the playoffs now 😈😈
@@TheUnderratedSeries Means nothing if you don't finish the deal by winning a Super Bowl.
@@bagboy9039fuck the giants (from a Vikes fan)
@@tomknapp6194 Stat lines are hypothetical. The truth is, Eli got it done. Very well done.

This is the game that typifies the career of Eli Manning. Never easy always under duress. But still overcame the onslaught of a really good defense. Signature Eli.
I remember this game like it was yesterday! 😁😁what a performance by eli.
Giants and Ravens are the best wild card teams ever.
2010 Packers?
Actually the Giants (2011), and the Ravens (2012) were a 4 seed and we're a conference winner those two years in a row. Now if this was before 2002 (the year they realigned everything to the now 32 teams), yeah both would be wild card.
@@justinturley7071 giants 2007 ravens 2000

I was saying this in general, not specifically one season.
What a game. Tynes is the best. Clutch kicker.
This is Eli’s definitive game.
This game just goes to show you how much of an x-factor special teams can be.
And also the little things like turnovers, points especially touchdowns off turnovers, third-down conversions, and red zone touchdown efficiency.
i remember this game as being hard hitting and brutal-great game
The Giants and 49ers just play amazing games.
2:18:48
That was insanely quick for a guy going to the ground. Just let that play go to the end, there was no need for the whistle there.
10000% definitely a lost play in playoff history
This game gave me more anxiety than any other Giants game. I didn’t even celebrate when it was over, I was just glad that it ended
anyone here since the benching?? Eli's a stud, first class player and person. this game shows the best of his resiliency #HOFer
That's the Eli Giants of that great era.
the best NFC championship game i have ever watched
Eli Manning's finest game as a pro; the Giants had absolutely no business winning this game against a superior team such as the 2011 49ers. This game display of toughness, resolve, and execution should be one of Eli's submissions to the Hall of Fame.
The 'superior" team is the one that wins.
Tyler Brandimarte and his almost decade of garbage after this and the next game should be submissions out of the hall of fame

One thing I've learned about the Giants is that the regular season may sometimes be a struggle, but losing in the post-season is not an option.
The giants have lost a shit ton in the post season with eli wtf are you talking about. Outside of the 2 playoff runs he never won a playoff game for 14 years lol. And he made the playoffs 4 other years
Still has the same amount of superbowl wins as his brother
Eli was a warrior in this game. Hall of fame drop the mic..

The game that really got me into football as a kid
People need to stop blaming Williams for this loss.... The 9ers were 1-13 on third down and their only 1st down was at the end of the game!!! They had two big plays / defensive blunders that gave them points
We blame Kyle Williams because it was Kyle Williams fault. The 49ers were on their way to closing out the game... when he fumbled. TWICE!
This game was over without Kyle
He also had a good return
yeah that's not gonna happen, it was kyle williams fault x 2
Thanks for this nice quality, and small file---I just erased my 8 gig version!
I just 8 gig my erased version!
One if not the greatest game of all time. Let's go Giants!
this is one of the best games ive ever seen....2 defensive juggernauts playing like it with clutch offense and special teams playing a factor. having all of that in a game is unique as fvck AND LET ALONE in an NFC title game
The Kyle Williams game lol heartbreaker for the niners but they hadn't been this far in over a decade til harbaugh showed up good days.
Eli was the man in this game. And Weatherford had an excellent game on special teams.
Ditto for Lawrence Tynes.
God I love the Giants! Giants Pride baby! All the way!
Buck: Weatherford hits it, Kyle Williams....MUFFS THE BALL!
I was raging hard when that play happened.
49er WildCat ugh same here but still was proud with how far the niners got that year considering how bad they were before harbaugh and Williams didn't deserve those death threats after the game.
6 sacks, no rushing yards, 55 passes atempts, Giants really puts on Eli Manning hands.
Love him or hate him, he always found a way to deliver in the big games.
Kyle Williams fumbling the ball in OT was one of the greatest moments of my life watching Giants football. Absolutely beautiful.
I argue Greg Roman's bonehead play calls that made the 49ers very inept on third-down and in the red zone in the 2011 NFC title game is one of my greatest moments.
Troy kept saying "They do not beat themselves" and then they beat themselves.
Better than the Super Bowl that year tbh
Oji Torres most championship games are better than the big one
This was a great playoffs in general. This game, the Super Bowl, Tebow and Broncos upsetting the Steelers, Patriots squeezing past Ravens and the classic Saints/49ers game. Plus for defensive fans the Texans/Ravens was a tough fought game. Great stuff
Best game I’ve ever seen from Eli. Solid QB for us for years.
This has to be a top 5 all time toughest run to winning a SB.

I'm a lifelong Redskin, but Eli's courage in this game is second only to Doug Williams in the '88 Super Bowl.
This game and the Green Bay one is easily top ten games of all time. Same with both super bowls for Eli

Eli's signature game imo
Eli is like the Millenium Falcon might not look like much but has it where it counts
You can’t tell by his posture and body language, but Eli Manning had a damn cannon for an arm! Geez Louise!
Wow. Watching this I totally forgot that fire Eli had in him back then in games.
really? You forgot? This was in 2012 not 1956
Victor Cruz was a technician in the slot during that 2 minute drill at the end of the first half. The defense & Eli Manning will deservedly get the credit the most but Cruz had a monster game as in this NFC Championship game against San Francisco. Still one of the greatest NFC Title games in NFL history
Giants - Niners playoff games were classics.
NFC championship classic! 💯🔥
Kyle Williams got the last laugh on 49er fans when he returned to the Bay Area and won a Super Bowl ring with the Denver Broncos in SB 50 at Levi's Stadium.
Ditto for Vernon Davis.

That 2002 game still gives me heartburn. Yes we blew the lead but Shockey's jersey was being ripped off of him. No call was complete b.s.
