I've enjoyed the Springs so far. Got here in July after a survey of the Front Range cities and picked Colorado Springs. I work fully from home so the traffic is less of an issue for me but I certainly feel for those that have to deal with it (I used to live in Atlanta - now, that's traffic). For me, the dry climate combined with the cold makes any house with lots of carpet - a shocking place to be (static electricity). We have both a whole-home humidifier and room-humidifiers to keep things about 35-40% (just barely comfortable) - with helps with dry skin, getting zapped, and general comfort.
The cold is normally not a huge issue - which is also related to humidity. In Florida, 40F there feels worse than 20F here. But, you also have to be prepared for occasional spells of subzero temps (already hit -12F this year) - and it the wind is up - all bets are off.
While there are true deserts in Colorado, the Springs is technically a semi-arid steppe climate since we get 16-inches of precipitation per year (deserts are under 10). The 300 days of sunshine is a bit of a myth too. We _do_ get more sunshine than Florida - which is funny to think about.
Regarding travel - the US is big - so when I moved to Colorado from Florida, I saw being in the middle of the country as a plus. When I lived in Florida - everything except other parts of Florida was really far away (takes several hours to leave Florida by car). The result, we just flew places instead of driving.

Been thinking about moving to Colorado Springs from WI and have really been looking for an at home job. Just curious on what you do?

@@Noahgavin97 I'm a software/cloud engineer with a major IT consulting company - the type of company that would require 100% travel before COVID. Thankfully, that is no longer the case and I rarely travel for work. We have been in the Springs for nearly 9 months now. I've gone skiing 12 days this year, which would have been impossible for me in Florida. We also enjoyed the Fall color (mostly just yellow).

Colorado Springs is my hometown. I cannot think of a better place to grow up. I moved away a few decades ago, and what I miss is the way it USED to be. The changes to the city have not been to its advantage. Being bigger is not necessarily better. Ironically, C Springs started out as a pre-planned city. Beyond that there was never much planning. There was nver a quick route through the city from west-to-east. There still isn't. Neighborhoods just mushroomed up and the roads were planned afterwards. There was a beautiful large rural gap between the Denver megalopolis and the Springs. The Springs greatest advantage was that it was not Denver. They have now merged. In 1971 there were signs and bumper stickers that said "Don't Californicate Colorado." Sadly, it has been Californicated. But at least Pike's Peak and the beautiful Front Range still loom over the city!

Even with all these cons, I would move back in a heart beat. If you enjoy the great outdoors with constant beautiful views, it's one of the best places. 💕

Been living here for about 7 years and agree with all 7 points. For me its the increase in vehicles on the road. Previously lived in Summerlin NV and other warmer places in the US. When the single digits hit now and then I hibernate like a bear. I've got a nice living arrangement and think its great here. I had done work 10 years prior and Colorado Springs was very different. Stayed in a cabin on Nevada Ave and drove over the the old MCI building on Garden of the Gods. Its true drive by an area few months later and a whole bunch of new houses are there.

Snow is nothing here except for the few off times. No mention of hail? That’s what’s annoying.

If you call an average of around 4ft. nothing then ok. However there are plenty of days that is snows just lightly with wind and wind chills in single digits creating icy slick roads for people not from here to crash into each other.

I25 is done? What about south bound I25 from Garden of the Gods and I25 and S Academy? North of COS 3 lanes is 2 lanes plus 1 toll lane.

Did you mention that PBS listed CS as one of the top worst cities to live in in the next ten years. RE: drought.

I can't think of a worse place to go than Colorado Springs. A bunch of creepy homeless bums laying on the sidewalk and people walking by like it was normal.
