    I am sure people said this already but this is a graphic analogy of how the abused will evolve into the abuser. The cycle of abuse was not discussed back then, way ahead of their time. It has nothing to do with Prison. The prison is the abuse itself.

  • @rideordiewarren

    The creaking at the beginning is a door opening in the middle of the night when dad visits…then the lyrics continues the abused becomes the abuser…I’ve come round full circle.

  • @coolhand62
    @coolhand62 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm sooooo behind. I'm sure by now you know the true meaning of this 'tune'. It might be the quintessential song from Tool that has a puzzle to be solved. I really like when I type my laptop knows what I'm going to say before I do. Sometimes. Back to the subject at HAND. Prison Sex is probably the darkest Tool song, but when has rape ever been not?
    This song will grow on you, but what Tool song does not? It's a formula that Tool always finds without ever trying. The crescendo is tremendous for a shorter tune. It definitely took me a while before I truly appreciated this song. The intensity just bites at you. And there's no way to make the volume high enough, at the right time, to fully appreciate it's meaning.
    Tool creates masterpieces, and nothing else. Shit, I've given myself away.

      That part "have you witnessed that blood and flesh can't be trusted?" is doubled (x2) in the video but he's actually singing different lines:

      He's using sexual imagery to talk about religion. He was raised in a christian home and they tried to "rape" (brainwashing) him so he could never question anything. If he didn't break this cycle he would now become the "abuser" and would continue to do the same now with his kids and on and on.
