Slow week this week, but here are all of the updates!
DG360 didn't steer me wrong. Great job on this one.
Thanks!! I appreciate the kind words!
I'm not sure how to describe the audio effect happening but while wearing headphones and listening to the video, when you say S noises, it has a really loud stinging noise.
The content is great though, this is just constructive criticism.
Yeah it's called Sibilance. Still working on it. I think I forgot to apply the filter. I'll fix that for next time!
@@Hav0k Isn't that what those nets in front of microphones are for?
Nah that's a pop filter for hard, plosive sounds like Ps
Still waiting for more updates on 600i rework :/ Great summary, subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! I understand the frustration waiting on a gold pass. It's unfortunate they haven't been able to complete it.
Always support, cig are the wishes of every kids that played wingcommander, for this reason I keep backing.
Bro I am subscribed to maybe 3 SC channels but you earned a sub , like your style, great work.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the sub!
Can't wait to see what scanning will look like
Same!
Need a deep dive into when we get Spirit E1 or fuel scooping for the Starfarer. Will be very useful once we get Pyro.
I've been wondering when they're going to do more work for refueling in order to give the Starfarer more of a purpose. I think that Pyro is a perfect opportunity for them to add in important pieces of gameplay like this.
If they could rework player beacons and allow us to grade/review other players after finishing a beacon mission and we could see their rating or reputation, it would go a long way towards making it more meaningful.
Totally agree about the trash talk developing from Ashes of Creation. Creating this technology on a much smaller game like AiC is not comparable to the scope of a universe sim like SC. Haters will always find something to hate on
It honestly isn't comparable. It's still nice to see that they're doing it, but it's much different.
Thanks for the great work. All news no drama or hyperbole.
Thank you! I'm trying to avoid that type of approach as much as I can.
1:50 - At first glance I thought that was the Vulcan for a second. Sad times, its only a Mole.
That almost tricked me too when I found it lol
Watched you on DG360.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed the info!
Agreed, Server Meshing should become a standard in the future, and the more studios working on the tech will make it mainstream sooner than later. I find it ridiculous to compare AOC server meshing with SC. I wonder if people are dumb somtimes. The complexity in SC is way beyond the scope of AOC by a scale of 100000000%.
It's pretty true. I see what they're trying to do which is awesome. However, there's a lot more features and systems going into SC.
Great report, didn't realize I wasn't subscribed. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Pretty sure ships can be repaired from soft death on pad
I'd have to do some testing, but last I checked, it will refuel and rearm, but the repair doesn't do anything.
i want my zeus
Take-Two patented their version of Server Meshing in 2020.
That's pretty sweet. I wonder for what game?
Hopefully scanning and radar isn’t too gamified
I'd say as long as it balances both then I won't be too upset
Considering the track record of everything else they have changed recently, it will be.
Honestly, I used to be hard on the "make everything sim" maybe a good 4 or 5 years ago. But as the game grows I feel gamifying things is mostly okay as long as it feels right.
The problem we're having right now is that they're gamifying things that shouldn't be, and things like inventory are getting too sim based. The current inventory management in 3.24 is a good example.
I want the item bank and freight management, but I want it in a way that still makes sense and is intuitive. We'll see what changes they make between now and its release
Yes ! Yes! I’m ready!!! Very informative as always. Thanks you
Of course! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wait is 3.24 out to pty?!?
Not yet! Still Evocati right now. As soon as there is an update, I'll probably make a short video.
Ship repairing is going to happen but just not right now. Also, the cost to repair a ship may exceed the value of the ship especially if it's all F'd up.
Yeah I was wondering about that. I think you're right, but insurance will need to be adjusted too, so it's your last go to option for most cases.
Havok lol I always pictured you with a beard ha ha. Thanks for the video bud
Lol 🤣 I wish I could grow a legit beard. The best I get is a consistent 5 o clock shadow on the days I'm not required to shave. 😅
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thing with server meshing or other groundbreaking tech, it is often the case that other game devs are inspired by what others have done. Once you know that something is a real thing and the tech actually exists to complete your goal. It is much easier to set about the task of duplicating a similar goal.
You're absolutely right. And I'm glad that different games are working on this. It will mean a lot for the entire gaming industry.
True, if they ever license star engine with the associated technology it has the potential to permanently change the gaming industry. I'm talking ready player one multiverse building.
Star Citizen needs to go back to separating loopy ideas from upcoming features. It helps no one to be told about all the amazing features they have planned without getting a timeframe when they are going to happen. We were told bounty hunting is coming and medical, then it was cargo gameplay and probably (hopefully) the economy simulation. There are tons of systems that won't even get touched upon (dynamic weather, alien races), yet CIG keeps dangling new features in front of us.
I get what you mean. But all of those loops you talk about require other features, like fps radar and scanning updates, reputation and mission refactor, and even server meshing. Yeah it may be frustrating to hear about it and not seeing it, but they're trying to give us ideas for what they plan to have when 1.0 finally goes live.
All of those upcoming features they're working on are being made for the game that it will be at 1.0. If they didn't talk a out these features, we'll there would probably be a lot more upset people in some ways.
still waiting for connie ships total rework...
:(
Same :(
For real. They mentioned this recently when they had their Bar Citizen, but they're planning to have all of the ships up to their gold standard whenever 1.0 is released.
@@Hav0k still having a lot of fun with my Connie, but it’s undeniable it’s buggier than the newer ships. Specially the snub fighter
@BioShaftBand I bet. It was one of my first ships that i bought back in the day. It's a really awesome ship, but it needs some love.
@@Hav0k BTW man, first time I watch one of your videos and they're awesome. Keep it up! Love the pace and the way you lay out the news. I do think your mic is bit "hissy" though, but easily fixable
Mark 12:25 ~ We will be like the Angels in heaven.
Fun fact: when they released The SRV they told us that we could tow a soft death ship into a repair facility to get repaired on ISC. Turns out this was not true but it certainly sold quite a few Argo SRVs
first time?
Yep. I remember that. But I also remember that they had some issues with the system which is why they didn't get it in. We'll see in the future though.
@@Ace-Brigade isn’t that just… false advertising?
Dedicated radar operator sounds like a boring job honestly.
@@brianfisher7385 nah I mean look at real life
@ZaidSait but it's a game, not real life, 😆
Not if the radar can detect different signals or able to perform signal matching to determine what they detect in a mixture of signal. Like the Sonar operator in WWII
Salavaging didn't seem like a fun job to me, but I got several org mates who only wants to salvage.
Yeah it could be boring. But there's ways to make it interesting and given that scanning will be important in many different game loops in the future, it could be really integral to the game in many ways.
With the said scope.... this game will fail without NPC to help run the ship. Im not going to wait to gather a bunch of strangers to go on a mission and man the Carrack... We ALL know that getting people together for a mission is nearly impossibe unless you are aprt of a guild, fat and can game for 12 hours a day...
I don't see the problem. If I'm alone I use a smaller ship. Bigger ships should be manned by a crew and while I get the wish to use them alone, it doesn't make any sense. Yes I also get the wish to be able to hire an npc crew, it's cool and all, but it's still a mistake imo. I'm sure that it will be possible eventually, but still a mistake, everyone will have his huge carrier or whatever ship, manned by NPCs, this belongs to a single player game.
Not meaning this in a negative way, just my opinion.
@@ShinigamiAnger I was talking about carrack class and smaller. No one is asking for 1 person 1 Kraken... be realistic.
And now after buying one ship im supposed to buy another one? A smaller !@#$ ship? Nah. CIG is going to have to find the right ballance between casual gamer and "this is my only life so you too should be forced to play the way I want to play cause it makes 'sense'..."
@@taccntb4345 I get that, though, even if it's just a Cutlass Black, if I don't have anothet person on board I'm missing the firepower of a turret, I know that when I purchase the ship and every time I decide to fly it. Why this has to change?
If you say because it's fun, ok I can agree with you, though I can't get rid of the feeling that having the cpu (an npc character) on charge of that kind of things is a bit 'meh'
@@taccntb4345 not sure that the game will fail… many people are looking forward to the social aspect of capital ships. And I find it hard to believe that it will be difficult to find people to group up at stations, landing zones (many people love group play) - especially when player populations are increased.
Kuzcos, I absolutely agree with that. I think crewing cap ships will be a pretty fun entertaining for many.
sounds like same old bs like always never ever do what they say even though they it works but never does
You literally compare games with microtransactions to a game that perfected macro transactions. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah they got nothing on Star Citizen as far as monetizing everything goes.
I get what you mean. But these are big megacorporations that are predominately greedy. The simple fact is that for Star Citizen it's unfortunately a necessary evil for them to fund the game. For companies like Activision, it's so they can make even more money. The positive of it however is that all of these micro and macro transactions for these two companies don't ultimately give people a benefit over others because everyone is capable of buying any and all ships in game. I'm personally fine with cosmetic microtransactions.
SC has nothing on the Honor of Kings mobile game microtransactions which made 1.58 billion dollars in 2023 alone. The Mobile Game industry pulled in 184 Billion in 2023. SC has only made 700 million in funding for the last 12 years. Its not even close.
@stannistargaryen Oh goodness. Yeah mobile games are insane. The mobile games industry is absolutely ridiculous.
Still dont get how people get hyped about the game.there s still gon a be bad perfomance as always
