Ah I remember this girl on Bass, she made quite the impression on Lovebites, went to the finals with her audition. 15 year old at the time.
The begining is very Band-maid's without holding back
Do you remember that girl that had only 15 years in the Lovebites auditions? That's Kanade, their bassist. We've kept an eye at her career since then.
Really cool! Good for her. I wish them great success!
Wow, just found them a few hours ago! Loving them! Nice "Kanami" solo.
Really good song. Combines catchiness with technicality in a coherent song structure. Will please (probably) fans of Band-Maid, Gacharic Spin but also Trident and Scandal. Mixing Japanese and English in the lyrics keeps their options open on which market to prioritize. Be interesting to see where they go next.
Great new J-Rock band. They should blow because they are pretty damned good! The lead vocalist has a great voice for rock. Thanks Wave!!!!
The first band we see that was directly influenced by Band-Maid.
I wonder if this will make the girls in Band-Maid feel "old" - now that they are influencing the next generation of Japanese female musicians, haha.
they like Band Maid and I can hear the influence in their song. thanks Wave, I am gonna watch this. Poppy face-melting! No band like Band Maid.
That is a real banger. Here's to hoping they maintain this. Because this one is AMAZING!
I've got to admit I'd been ignoring this in my TH-cam recommendations because I've discovered too many new bands lately, but your Band-Maid reference in the title worked on me as clickbait! Anyway, they sound great and I'm off to subscribe to their channel.
Edit: And now the title mentions Lovebites too! That would also have probably worked.
2034 Maid-Fest, celebrate twenty years of bandmaid and all these other Jrock bands at a festival, in my hometown 😂❤
Ran across this in its first day of release, maybe 600 views. Immediately thought this would appeal to the larger Band-Maid/Nemo/Gacharic Spin fan community. Good to see they're getting more attention now.
Are you f'n serious ? Another all female Japanese band that I instantly fell in love with.
I heard it last night and I'm digging it!
First impression - Reminds me of old Band-Maid songs (Maid in Japan-esque) which is good TBH.
I think they can become a contender for Best New Band debuting in 2024 and if their next single is more like this, they will have a great future.
I know Ryan reacted to these girls. I think maybe in a livestream. I like them. I think that bass player auditioned for Lovebites. 😁
Very excited to keep an eye on this band! People have been comparing Kanade to F Chopper Koga and it should come as no surprise that from what I've found, it appears that Koga is actually Kanade's biggest influence on bass
I think it's Neki and stylized as Nek!.
That was also my assumption.
From 0 straight to 100 and pretty far into the center of my radar. 🔥🤘🏻
I'm very excited to see where the journey of these ladies will take them. After all, they have good role models. :)

The band is pronounced as "NEKI".
I hope they release an EP somewhere this year.
That is indeed how the band name is pronounced as they clearly state on their TH-cam channel. We need to spread the correct pronunciation before the incorrect one gets spread as with the case with "Hanabie".
Thanks for sharing this, Wave. Love that wah at the end. This is like alternative rock. Reminds me a bit of Asian Kung Fu Generation. Another talented band.
Such a cool band! I was waiting quite a while for them to drop a song, I was following them on Twitter since around March waiting for this! I swear the vocalist reminds me so much of Miku!
Looks like a lot of people have already posted a ton of information on this band below so I dont have much more to add. 🔥🔥🔥🤘✌
count me in!
They sound great!
Bandmaid and Trident had childs!
Great song
The vocals are pretty good :) Guitars & drums are solid!
I went their live yesterday. They call themself 'we are NEKI'. They play as good as this MV. small ,pretty girls. I'm a fan of them now! (I'm japanese,so my english is not good, sorry)
I watched their video the other day after reading some comments on Twitter/ X /whatever the hell it is now. Really, really good stuff.
Sounds good. Mana Diagram are another new band with ex Hagane members worth checking out. Hagane has also started a brand new line up featuring YT sensation drummer Junna.
Just saw that they are going to play in Shibuya Eggman next week. A lot of bands play there obviously, but Band-Maid has shown that starting out there certainly can work out.
As far as the song goes, not 100% my thing as it's a bit too pop punky and it sounds very produced, but there are some cool parts in here and the blast beats are a welcome surprise. I am curious if they are working on a couple of tracks that are a bit harder to go with the skills the drummer clearly has. It wouldn't be the first Japanese band to have a wide varriety of styles, so who knows. I am certainly looking out for more of them and wish them all the best. I am also going to check if I can find a streamed liveshow, seeing bands live is always a great way to see how good the members are (I am sure it will be good).
Check out their 4th TH-cam Short video (4th by date), as the vocals could use some improvement.
There is definitely talent and I can see the bandmaid influence.

It's about what I expected. It's like that for a lot of (Japanese?) bands once you hear them on a raw livestream. I think they overproduce their vocals so much that people don't realize what a raw vocal sounds like any more. I have watched a lot of streamed sets over the last couple of years (I am well over a 100) and a lot of those from very small bands in very small venues.
A couple of bands (that I watched streamed footage from) where I noticed that the vocals sounded off at points are Hagane (not streamed, but the oldest DVD by them I own sounds untouched)/Mana Diagram, Paleneo, Asterism, Bridear, Aoie Us Fear and even Lovebites to some extent (not this extent). These things typically get better over time with more experience and are usually the worst in the first 1 or 2 songs of the set until the vocalist settles in. So I am not that worried about something like that, I have heard way worse and this type of recording is basically the worst case scenario. I commend them for putting it online. A human voice isn't supposed to be a perfect instrument, which is why I am typically not a huge fan of vocals with a lot of production on it.
@@MaartenT I pointed you to it because you seem like the type who would be interested. Personally, I feel it is an area that could use some improvement.
People at times think I don’t like a band if I offer any sort of criticism, but I have them for every band (like my pros and cons), including my favorite band.
@@SomethingToDo360
Yes, I am interested in checking them out like that. Thanks for that, I typically don't watch and miss most shorts, so I didn't even realize they had some live stuff in there.
I also agree the vocals could use improvement and never saw your post as harsh criticism. Honestly, I have been way more critical on vocals for a lot of bands because I typically don't like the production on the album versions for a lot of them. I am the last person who should call people out on giving criticism.
So no worries, I am happy you pointed me to that video and yes, they can certainly improve on their craft. It's just that most young bands will be like this, especially vocalists. If you check out early Band-Maid (eg. the 2014 FES acoustic set) or any of the old cams you can find from early live sets and the vocals are pretty off-pitch on those as well. It will get better when she starts working with a vocal coach, which I assume she will since it sounds to me like this wasn't self-produced, so I assume some money is behind this band (they will have their first one-man show in July, which is really fast for a new band).
Kanade Kanade Kanade!
I need to step up my slap bass game.
not bad. I have never seen a bassist play the electric bass in that position, almost upright.
I think Fami from Lovebites plays a similar position.
Wow, they have so much potential! Nice! Thanks for sharing!
I like the song structure and the arrangements. But for me, the lead guitar sounds too thin and the bass is a bit too busy (I think she's relying too much on technique). Anyway, like I said, they have potential and I can see them becoming a good hard rock band in the future.
Now I know there's a music training camp- factory deep within Mt. Fuji. You just don't keep plopping out bands of this caliber, this young without some intense training. Scandal, 17 years ago. BAND-MAID 10 years ago ... Nemophila 5 years ago .... there's some weird scicnce going on .... and it's working. The future for Japanese music is sound. (How'd you like that play on words?)
Funky version of Lovebites. Nice.
It’s NEKI and pronounced “Neckee”.
Whats the context of them fans of band maid?
do something good for yourself and listen to HERITAGE - REDGLOW (Official Music Video)
🐺LOVEBITES RULES🐺
Music is cool, but the vocals are not pleasing to listen to. For me anyways.
Same for me. Music is good though
Drummer and bassist are the strength of this band. The guitarist has potential but the solo in this song was pretty awful. Sounded like she was just trying to play as many notes as fast as she could, and completely lost the plot on the music going on behind her. Singer was fine, though nothing particularly memorable. All in all, a better debut by far than my first band in the late 1980s… where I also did the same thing of playing a solo that didn’t fit the context because I was more focused on flexing my fretboard dexterity.
not my cup of tea
