Hey UFOBob! Most people in Hawaii don't grow learning the Hawaiian language unless they go to an emersion school that teaches subjects in Hawaiian. It should be taught in all schools to some degree. Most adults who don't grow up in a Hawaiian speaking language household have to take classes and join groups to learn and practice to speak. We have so many ethnic cultures here in Hawaii that have immigrated from other countries so although English is the main language for most some households don't speak English. Maybe one day all schools can have at least one Hawaiian language class that all students have to learn from grade K-12 atleast as a 2nd or 3rd language. The music you are hearing is a mixture of contemporary and traditional Hawaiian music but yes in the Hawaiian language. Thanks for enjoying and for the really good questions!!!
