  • But wait. There's more. Krishna wasn't quite ready to leave the stage. He actually wanted to sing some more. So as an encore he performed the Perumal Murugan penned "Ni Mattume Yen Nenjil Nirkirai" in Raga Kapi to the ever appreciative Kolkata audience.
Krishna was accompanied by Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, Arunprakash Krishnan on mridangam and Chandrasekara Sharma on ghatam. Tanpura support was provided by Krishna's student Vignesh Krishnamurthy and Ritwik Pal.

This is simply one of the most beautiful renditions in Kapi that I have ever heard. Inspiring as both a musician and a student for the past 30 years.

SO this beautiful rendition, that ever soothing Alaapanam everything is shadowed by TMK, his choices, his atheism and so on...Can we for good, enjoy the music, his voice and the innate talent to bring out such performances and nothing else. Everyone is free to have opinions and choices, just coz he's an artiste doesn't mean he should all but perform and keep mum and not have views, ideals and so on. If one differs in thought process, I certainly have no qualms but what bothers me is why is his choice and blissfulness of music is clouded by the man he is. His music and is not TMK the man or his thoughts, its a part of him and it would be amazing if we the rasikas could enjoy just that in it's unison. We agreeing/differing from his approach is left to us but let the music and its awesomeness not be hampered.

You are the only one standing in my heart,
      You are the only one....
I keep erasing, you would not be erased
I keep wiping out, you would not disappear
      Shining your brightness all around
You are the only one standing in my heart
When I am awake and look at you
When I am asleep with my eyes closed
Grown in my dreams and in my memories
You are the only one standing in my heart
The sky is full of patterns with the show of stars
Flowers brimming with honey, all such beautiful sights
All are in vain so I push away
Without knowing why, I jump and dance around
I forget myself, hop & fall, endlessly
In front and at the back I see light shining all around
You are the only standing in my heart....

Great saints like Thyagaraja have composed in beautiful ragas like Kapi with utmost devotion. T.M.Krishna wants to push his atheistic agenda by using these ragas for compositions of Thugs like Perumal Murugan who abuse lord arthanareeshwara.. TMK does this for money from Western churches or awards like Roman magsayay, may be he is trying for something more. If you want malign Hinduism, compose your own ragas and do it..

I suggest you look up the lyrics and the translation of this song. The bhakti in the song and the bhava of this rendition place it alongside any of the canonical compositions in Carnatic Music.

    • @urgudas
      @urgudas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@kewlking Agreed. The lyrics are pure Tamil poetry and charged with emotion, and their arrangement in Kapi by Shri Arunprakash is outstanding. The other FEA recording of this song by TMK is for me the definitive version of this song, with a slow alapana matching the meditative mood of the song.

another one of these religious elitist dumbos who ironically continue to create divisions rather than embrace people who are actually creating harmony and bringing people together. Take your bigotry somewhere else.
