    Thank you for doing this video guys ! The install went very well! Only tune that doesn't work is the theft tune, but other than that it really woke my 95 PSD up. Shifted way better than stock, no more hesitation, and starts easier. Totally satisfied customer!

    Haven’t watched this video yet, but I love the fact you straight up give your phone number for all the keyboard trolls out there! I also believe if anyone is not smart enough to disconnect the batteries, they can come on over and rewire this CJ that burned up from someone that wanted to adjust their alternator. I never leave comments but I had to give this guy a thumbs up, on the call out!

    I’m getting my first diesel ever in a week from now and ordering a ts chip 229 and from what this vid showed I’m guessing around an hour of total labor if taking your good ole time this 7.3 will be my second so called obs bought my first f250 brand new in 95 it was a custom order farm truck had the lowest rear end gear and the toughest trans due to special order and the original owner backed out or got denied on his loan it was a beast only thing I hated about my 95 was no freaking ac in it other than that I loved that beast of a truck it hauled any load I threw at it with no issues rust ended up killing that bad boy and will be proud to own a crew cab this time with the 7.3 u dear the hood 96 no rust and looked like it just drove off the show room floor for 24 yrs of age no undercoating what’s so ever either yea it was that clean guy wants 17k it has 180k miles on her I just hope I’m not over paying for that truck I plan on having this truck for the rest of my life lol but up here in Pittsburgh rock salt helps the rust very fast but no matter what I’ll have a comp,etc bolt off resto done to this truck in the far far far future with new everything I do t like these newer trucks with all this bs dings and crap they do and obs to me when I first bought my 95 was considered ford high boy body style those were a beast a real mean beast my old man had 1 when I was little kid loved that truck up u til a jagoff broke into it and stole it from the gas station it was at getting serviced but maybe I’ll make a TH-cam vid of this clean as heck 96 when I pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week but dropping it off at a ford diesel mechanic to fix a light oil leak and replace power steering line as it has a leak as well he will have it for a day maybe 2 at best how often do diesels get an oil change is it same as a gas engine every 3k miles or longer.

    When you are reconnecting any Batteries, it's always best to connect the Negative Battery Terminal first to shunt to Ground any Spurious Static Electricity which may harm Electronic Components.

    Cant tell you how many people ive argued with over the years about the importance of disconnecting the Battery when not only working on any electrical stuff but, even more importantly when doing any Welding on a Vehicle. I've never seen it happen myself (Because I've always disconnected the battery for Welding) but, ive heard many stories of batteries exploding from welding on a vehicle with the battery still connected as well as burning up Computers and Fuse Boxes and all sorts of problems. But, people are hard headed and think if they did it once with the battery still connected then such advice doesn't apply anymore. You can do something wrong a bunch of times and nothing happen but, it only takes once of something going wrong to really screw something up major.

    Thoroughbred Diesel Do you need bigger injectors to get the full 140 RWHP?

    • @marinusdedreu3833
      @marinusdedreu3833 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To get an additional 140hp, yes. With an obs on stock injectors you aren't going to break 310hp lol

    I have a 97 f350 and I want to install this chip. Truck is mostly stock except for an exhaust and intake and I was wondering how much you can tune these engines without running the risk of ruining reliability and causing a bunch of engine problems. I use the truck to get to work and I just want to add a bit of power to get rid of the molasses like acceleration. Thanks

    I just installed my TS Chip last night. Installed just as anticipated. Pickup runs great! Wanted to ask you about the "wait to start" light. It used to come on for about 5-7 sec., after install, it's only on for about a second. Should this be a concern of mine?
    Also, what setting is everyone finding gives the best MPG's increase? What diesel additives do people use for a top end conditioner / anti gel? Cetane? Stanadyne? Lucas?
    Thanks again for the great video and all your help.

    Hello sir I absolutely love this product and your installation video. I put this chip on about two years ago and to make a long story short without knowing a lot about my 1997 2w Dr. F350 diesel 7.3 Powerstroke a local Aamco repair shop told me that the chip blow my PCM. I DIDNT believe them but I ended up purchasing a knew PCM anyway. Turns out those idiots at Aamco didn’t realize it was my speed sensor all along that was causing my Trucks erratic shifting behavior and and Towing light on my shifter flashing ,I put the chip in again yesterday and once again I absolutely love it, so just for reassurance for future use can this sensor blow my PCM ?I’m just asking this question for peace of mind.

  • @John-ce1lk
    @John-ce1lk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent DIY, thank you. One question though. Would it be a good idea to smear a thin light coat of new dielectric grease on PCM terminals, after cleaning off old, before connecting the TS chip to prevent any future contact corrosion? Same with switch terminal to chip board? Thanks.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 6 positions on the switch, stock, hi idle, 50,75,100 and 140. We don’t put the 140 in every position because the truck will be more efficient in some of the other positions. All trucks respond different, and you will need different tunes for towing, economy, etc.

    I just bought a 96 f250 and it has one of this chips, how do I know which one it is? Thank you in advance

      You can remove it from the PCM and see if it has a brand on it or look around the kick panel and see if you can see a brand on the chip.

    I just bought my first 96 f250 obs. I found the selector switch hooked up.
    But high idle is all the way to the left.
    And the truck shuts off when I switch past the second position. I think it might not be good. Any suggestions?

    • @rebel1552
      @rebel1552 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The second maybe a no start option

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So some chips are burnt that way. Yours may be, starting from left, stock, hi idle, anti theft, power tune in the other 3 positions. That second click on your is no start or anti theft.

    get em wade im with you i prefer to keep any and all electronic components in my trucks alive so i unhook the batteries everytime haha its kinda like my buddy who always argued with me that you didnt need to when welding either and then he fried his truck haha its sheer laziness and stupidity to not unhook the batteries ... i had a couple of kids that worked for me on the pipeline and i always told them do not try to jumpstart any heavy equipment with the trucks .. diesel or gas.... well they didnt listen and blew the batteries up in the one work truck .. as soon as that excavator started it cooked that poor trucks batteries they literally exploded

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The power gain is the most noticeable difference, the most appreciated difference some owners see is the increase in fuel economy.

    My ts6 chip I can’t feel a difference between the tunes but my high idle works but 140 and 50 there’s no difference

    • @ReidMcDermid
      @ReidMcDermid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s because on a 7.3 the injectors are maxed out so you would have to change injectors, turbo etc

  • @gitsome35
    @gitsome35 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That chip won't do anything but increase throttle response and a little fuel fuel mileage on an obs 7.3 with stock injectors. The key is to upgrade the injectors with that chip and after that fuel mileage is only affected by your foot but the power is there to use at your discretion

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      The chip will make the truck more efficient. Your MPG will depend on several things like driving style, engine condition, etc.
