I’m so glad you posted. I injured my hand on Monday and can’t draw or crochet for at least 2 weeks so watching TH-cam videos of people being productive has helped so much 😂
I’m so excited you’re venturing into knitting. I love your enthusiasm for it. I made my first pair of knitted socks as a beginning knitter. With the correct size cable needles, you can absolutely knit socks. I am an advanced knitter now venturing into crochet. You inspire me. Love the wallpaper.
socks are not as difficult as people sometimes make them seem. the only thing that can be annoying is that when you have finished 1 you have to make another one.
I’ve been knitting for years, and the magic loops still boggles my mind. I am proud that I finally learned continental knitting and the Norwegian purl stitch. 😊 Proud of you for leaning to knit after crocheting first. I’m not sure I would have bothered learning to knit if I’d started with crochet, crochet is so much easier to learn. Or at least less frustrating… lol
Ahhh i’m so excited for tapestry patterns!! I haven’t done a tapestry project yet but I’ve been wanting too. Cannot wait to see what you have created 💗
Praying for your dream with Knitting Vogue!! That's such an exciting dream!!! as for knitting socks... DO IT!! My knitting game totally changed once I learnt how to knit socks. Knitting projects aren't as intimidating anymore, and I am doing some things in my knitting world that I never thought I would be capable of. You learn so many key skills in socks that transfer to different patterns. YOU'VE TOTALLY GOT THIS! ❤❤❤💪
I always thought you started knitting before crochet just because of the way you wrap the yarn when you crochet. It's always cool watching all the different styles of crochet(: especially since I'm relatively new to it.
Oh no surprisingly not the case! Lol I developed that crochet habit all by myself and by the time I realized people did it different I was too far into to be able to change 😂❤ welcome to the crochet community friend!
Hi Dana! I love the yarns you received, sooooo pretty! I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now, i think, and that wallpaper is soooo you. It's not my style, but I do truly love this for you! Thank you so much for your videos, they really are the highlights of my week. As I've said before, you are one of my favorite crochet you tubers. You are killing it and keep up the fantastic work!! ❤🥰
Gorgeous yarns. Love them. Vogue would be a great place to see.❤I love that beanie love the yarn. Would love to get that yarn. Gorgeous wallpaper. Very dainty. Love the blanket.😅
Another great place to print for cheap is your local library! The only trade off is the quality is more like what you’d get with at home printing but you’re supporting your library!
Oh Dana, I have been crocheting fir over 50 years, I have made so many things, and have so much yarn. But in the last few months I've lost my crojo, I sure hope it returns. Love all the new yarn and the wall paper is beautiful
Exciting! I just started really knitting a month ago and also haven’t done a project in the round since magic ring hasn’t clicked yet 😅 I do the same with crocheting the seams lol My last project was the Sophie Scarf, highly recommend you give it shot! Was a fun project and plan to knit a few more as Christmas gifts.
Wow you just inspired me to print out all of my patterns at CVS and make like a little binder! I impulsively buy so many and don't even start them so I need to keep them all in one place so I don't have to go hunting through my email all the time haha what a great tip!
The Wall paper Dana! 🩷🎀🩵 My favorite yarn was the Monarch. That Tuscan yarn is interesting though. I'm currently making red & green peppermint candy ornaments for my upcoming Santa Shoppe event. 🍬🍭🍬
It's amazing! I feel so bad I haven't been able to work on anything that they sent me yarn for, except a few smaller things... hoping to get back into it once my elbow heals!
Your hat turned out great. The craft room looks lovely. I'm still so impressed with how beautiful your community blanket is. Love your channel. See you in the next one. I am working on my first pattern, it will have tapestry kitty on it. I don't know how long it will take to write since I've never written a pattern. I'm hoping I can convince you to test it for me since you enjoy tapestry. Have a great day, Dana!
Omg congrats on creating your first pattern!! The design in the hardest part! I’m so proud of you and I believe in you! You’re going to do amazing I just know it 😊❤ you’re awesome! Have a lovely weekend ❤
Ooh I'm so excited to see more knitting projects from you! I'm pretty evenly splitting my time between knitting and crocheting these days. I took a Christmas stocking class at my local yarn store, so basically a big sock, and I definitely think you could do it! We added the heel in afterwards so I didn't turn a heel the traditional way, but it was very manageable. I'm working on knitting a Sophie scarf now to give to my grandmother for Christmas, and crocheting a tapestry piece for the gym I workout at. It's so hard to describe setting up a magic loop, but it's really not too tough once you get used to it! The first couple of rows are a bit fiddly, but after that it becomes super simple. I learned it from my first knitting class instructor though - maybe your local yarn store could help you with it if they offer any help/classes?
Hi Dana i Love your content ❤❤ thanks for sharing 🙌💓 Video idea : I would love a yarn haul of your statch where you explain what yarn you use for what project and why :) im kinda confused on wich yarn to use for my next wearables could use help 😂❤
That wallpaper fits so well with the room! And the beanie came out so cute, wasn’t sure about the color when I first saw it but it worked up so pretty!
Socks were my first knit project. lol I figured if I was going to learn I was going to learn a lot at once 😅 I used the vanilla sock tutorial here on TH-cam and it was so helpful. I learned quickly how to use the magic loop.
Im obsessed with the yarn you used to knit your hat!!! I have to find something similar to crochet a simple stitched sweater!!! Just imagining wearing it with jeans and boots this winter…so excited!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Love the new wallpaper…gorgeous!!! Currently I’m unable to crochet which is my happy place. I finished a blanket that I was working on, then started & completed a 60” scarf and partially made a matching hat before I ran out of the yarn. My shoulder reacted to the over use and basically locked up. I haven’t been able to use my right arm this week at all due to severe pain!!! It’s starting to come around…won’t do that again!!! My husband said I can’t do any crocheting for the remainder of November to rest my arm…I say mid November as I have Charity donations and Christmas gifts to make. I love your channel!!! Stay safe and be blessed and keep praying❤🙏🏽🧶
This is a perfectly timed video because im planning to relearn how to knit to make a Christmas present for someone. Rest of the gifts will be crochet but i wanted a fun texture without it eating all my yarn like crochet will lol
I self taught myself to knit in 2017 when I was pregnant with my first child. I then picked up a crochet hook in 2018 and have since never picked up knitting again😂 xx
Oh my gosh! I wish I knew how to knit. My grandma tried to teach me when I was younger and I never was able to pick it up. I feel like I have no patience for knitting haha
If you want that cabinet to look like one piece and fix the gap, you can screw the individual shelves together and trim it with some 1x2 pines boards and it will look like one big piece. Home Depot and Lowe’s will cut the pieces down for you if you don’t have a saw. ❤
re: magic loop! Your cable needs to be a bit shorter, i think that’s probably why you’re having some issues. Cause your going to stretch your work if it’s too big. If you enjoy knitting I would recommend investing in some interchangeable needles! The clover bamboo ones are a great starter set from Michaels!
I have to make that pink cardigan! Probably in different colors but I have to think about it. Unfortunately I'm in Ohio so the closest shop that carries the yarn is in Maryland but I could see this working with other yarn too. Maybe I could even stash bust (😂). Not me laughing at how often I say that but then buy new yarn...
Don’t feel bad about not knowing how to do the magic loop method - it’s really not for everyone. I’m a pretty experienced knitter and I don’t like using it at all! 🤭 if you plan to knit more, I would suggest investing in an interchangeable needle set (the one from clover is really good and not too expensive) it gives you a range of mm sizes and cable lengths which is great. For things like beanies I use a combo of cable needles and double pointed needles which are pretty easy to learn, so I would suggest exploring those! Good luck on your knitting journey 🎉
Agreed! I'm a fan of 16" needles for hats--although I usually finish on dpns. I can do magic loop, but I always reach for dpns for small circumference knitting. Regarding socks, there is nothing better than handknit socks! So comfy and warm--and so many cool patterns and yarns to try. A simple plain stockinette or ribbed sock is not at all difficult--but because the gauge is small, it really helps to be comfortable with reading your knitting. (Identifying knit/purl stitches, K2tog vs. SSK, etc.) when it comes to heels and toes.
Yes thank you friend!! ❤️ Sadly I have a lot of really beautiful interchangeable needles just non this large! But I do believe I’ll invest in a pair of larger ones As well!! I need to pick up my interchangeables more now that I’m enjoying knitting so much 🥰❤️thank you for the tips! I need to try out double pointed as well (just seems very intimidating !!)
I could not figure out the magic loop either, had problems with double pointed needles also. You can also knit in the round using two circular needles. But one day as I was thinking about how to use the double pointed needles and suddenly I figured it out. I use only wood or plastic double pointed needles.
Made two headbands one was blue and gold, the other was blue and pink. Got one of the headbands sold so will be making two more headbands. How has everything been for you. While doing the headbands been doing granny square heart bags to so have two things that is making in one day.
When I was knitting I never came across the MC, just cast on and connect at the end of cast on. If you use the cords you should use the shortest cord you can. The move to a longer one if needed.
Sock knitting isn't difficult per say, but it can be a little fiddly. You definitely need to be comfortable knitting in the round whether that's with DPNs, magic loop or even 2 16in circulars. Also picking up stitches is important to know too. I love having at least one knit and crochet project going at once so I can switch back and forth between the two.
I'm in central VA -- our fall has been absolutely stunning this year hasn't it?! Question -- is the Joanne's on Culpeper decently stocked with yarn? I'm passing through next month and was thinking of checking it out. They've unfortunately reduced their selection by a whole isle in both Michael's and Joannes in Charlottesville :(
No wayyyyyyy! Omg I’m so sorry. I’ll say Culpeper Micheal’s is pretty good but the Joann’s def leaves something to be desired. I’ll tell you , I know it’s a trek but if you’re ever headed towards NOVA. the sterling location for Joann’s is TOP TIER. Literally my fav , I go there a lot and reston has a great Michael’s. I’m so sorry about Charlottesville 😭
@@BlondieKnots YES GIRRRL!! That one off 7? Herndon’s my hometown and that’s where I’m heading (to visit my Mom). I completely forgot about that one, but I will definitely go there while I’m up. That Joanne’s saved me last year when I ran out of yarn for a gift I was making (actually my first amigurumi ever) and it was literally the only place out of probably 6 shops that had what I needed. You are absolutely right, their selection is incredible. My jaw dropped when I saw the entire wall of yarn lol. How could I forget?! Thanks for the reminder!
I have been eating for a long time. I have made many pairs of socks and I love them. Hand knit socks are the most comfortable. In the winter I like to wear them with my Doc Marten oxfords. However…..I have never been able to get comfortable with knitting on three needles. It just doesn’t work for me. I can’t stand it. I’ve tried many times. I have a pattern where I knit them on two needles and then sew them together. The seams don’t really show. I find it so much easier. Let me know if you would like the pattern. I have no idea where it originally came from and I have modified it over the years. I can dig it out and send it to you.
Ahah omg that made me laugh so hard. Your second comment made me laugh harder ! I knew what you meant!! And wow that is so kind of you!!! When I finally have some down time to try socks I think I will certainly ask for that pattern! I really appreciate your offer to share it with me ❤🧦 thank you so much!!
Dana, it made me sad that you were nervous to admit you pray. From a completely non-religious person here, I'd never judge anyone for having faith be a part of their life! I understand you don't want to divide your audience, but anyone who would leave because you pray and have faith is not someone you want in your channel anyway. Now for the sock suggestions! I really like toe-up socks with short row heels(that way not kitchner stitching) and the book I'd recommend would be Socks From The Toe Up by Wendy D Johnson. It's a great book that gives instructions for multiple ways to cast on, and multiple style of heels. It also talks about using double points, vs 1 circular needle, vs 2 circular needles. All these different things by the way are a matter of preference so if I'm confusing or overwhelming you, I promise the book presents everything in a completely beginner friendly way. As a knitter, socks are my favorite thing to knit. As a crocheter, I'm not really sure what my favorite thing to crochet is.
That’s a really lovely way to put that and I’m so appreciative of you for saying such a kind thing. I get very nervous to even mention something like religion but that was really kind of you to say and means a lot to me. As for socks I really appreciate that tip and I will definitely check out that book because I’d really love to try them at some point! Thank you so much ❤🧦
Let’s everyone pray our Dana gets invited to Vogue Knitting! I love the wallpaper, so pretty.
Omg… bless you friend ❤
