I’m the one who commented on instagram about trying to help with a windy market and got hit by a display piece. On top of all that, the organizer was so upset people left early because of the wind and said stuff along the lines of “I can’t control the weather.” It annoyed me so bad because while you can’t control it, you can guess that 30 mph winds is gonna be bad for a market…
You’re kidding 🥺🥺 that sounds very similar to my experience. I’m so sorry you’ve had a very negative experience as well. Its so terrible. I hope that never happens to you again friend 🥺❤️
Tents should always be weighted down. Most shows require it. So dangerous! I was almost impaled once by a flying tent. I always mention and ask coordinators if they inforce the rules. It doesn’t matter if wind is not expected. You have to assume it might. Be ready!
Oh no, that’s terrible. You guys made the right choice by leaving. Weather can be crazy, and a flying tent would be so scary to see. Sorry it didn’t work out, but grateful for your honesty. I’m sure this will help encourage ppl who have had a rough market 🩵🩵
OFFT! What a day! I'm so glad you got out of there as safely as you could. Thank you for sharing even when the days don't go the way you expected... We're here for the highs and lows. Supporting you even from a distance!
Sorry that happened. Safety first. Thank you for always encouraging others to go with their gut feeling on markets and putting their safety first. I am sorry the tent was broken from the winds. Good things to come! Your positive outlook so nice to view even when things go wrong. Thank you!😊
I try not to do outdoor shows because of this very thing. When the weather doesn't cooperate, it sucks. I'd rather skip a market than spend the whole time trying to keep everything on the tables because of wind or rain. Sorry you had to go through that! The people in charge should have offered you guys at least a partial refund, especially after your tent broke.
I'm so sorry this happened to you! I do appreciate your honest though! Sometimes my markets are a flop and I take it really personally when honestly, it might have just not been a good market. I love your positive attitude and how you are completely transparent!
I’m so sorry that this happened. I’m very proud that you followed your gut! It takes a lot for a small business owner to make that kind of decision, especially because you lost quite a bit of money. I hope you are feeling a little better about things now. I do think that bringing your fall/Halloween items that you have discounted, that will be left at the time of your Christmas market, bring it!! Stick it in a “discount or sale” bin and I am sure at least some of it will sale love! Love you girly! Have a great week, don’t let this bad experience bring your whole week down🦋🌸
Oh you’re so sweet my friend. Thank you ❤it’s so validating to hear your positive feedback towards my decision ❤ I definitely agree about the discount bin and just might do that! 😊🫶🏻 You always lighten my spirit! I hope you have an incredible week too sweet friend ✨💓🫶🏻
They should have rescheduled the event! That’s dangerous! We had an event like that, they shut down for safety and let us come back the next week for free. That’s terrible they got upset with you :(
I'm so sorry that's happened to you. Thank you for being honest about the bad markets. It helps me remember some will be good and some will be bad. I have had a few bad markets. You did great with the situation. Can't wait for you to get ready for winter/Christmas. Your tips are so helpful. Keep being awesome ❤
Awh yay! I’m really so glad you feel this way! I’m always so happy to share my tips and experiences with you! Thank you for being awesome & so supportive! ❤
So sorry that happened! You are such a light and I know you’ll bounce back from this because you are so positive! The event coordinators should have called it and offered the vendors refunds. 😔 Cheers to your next market being your best yet!! 🥂
Ughh wind is the worst!! I’m sorry about your loss! Maybe just keep a small box of fall inventory back for next year, to save some prep time for fall. ❤
I feel for you. I had my tent snap for the same reason right when an event started. It was devastating! I found that I had to purchase the commercial grade tent and have not had issues since but what an expensive lesson to learn. Sending hugs ❤
Oh noooo I’m so sorry you had the same experience. It’s so upsetting. I totally agree with the commercial tent, I just don’t know if I can stomach the price… however I’m really happy to hear yours has held up! I might have to think about it!
Thanks for this honest video!! I’ve experienced my first bad market this summer and then a mediocre one a month later so it was encouraging to hear your outlook ❤😊
Ahhh I’m sorry this happened to you lovely - the coordinators should’ve definitely cancelled! I had cancellations multiple times and each time I was thankful for it Love your positive attitude despite everything - time to prep for Christmas 🫶🏼
Thank you for this real video! Sorry you went through that and I appreciate that you shared what you learned. Now we all did! A good karma will come from this. Yin and yang:) Love your channel. So much great info and fun projects. Congrats on the house!
Man! what a day! Sorry your market was a bummer. You took it in good spirits. I would have left too. Things happen for a reason sometimes. Glad nobody was hurt. Loved your market bag tips also. TFS!!!❤
It's such a shame that this market didn't work out! Leaving early was definitely a good call - tents and products blowing around is just an accident waiting to happen!
So sorry. I have been there. I had an outdoor market the day after Thanksgiving several years ago. My biggest and last market of the year. Sat in line for 2 hours so I could get in to set up. Finish setuo just before customers arrived. Twenty minutes in it starts to rain. Buckets of rain and wind. Fortunately I always have weights for my canopy and quick pull sides in case of rain. Took more than an hour before I could get my pickup in for packing out. Was standing in 2 feet of water. My product was safe because of plastic tubs. Drying the canopy to avoid mildew was challenging. I only do indoor events now.
I'm sorry to hear about the not fabulous market and the wind putting a damper on things. I had a similar situation this spring but with wind and lightning! I immediately packed up because my safety is more important than my sales. I do weekly farmer's markets for a sourdough bread company and have met a ton of veteran market peeps that have given me so many tips and tricks. A wind hack that one of my neighbours taught me is that if it's supposed to be a windy but sunny day, Set up your canopy without the cover. The legs of the canopy will still show your space limits and your booth but you won't have to worry about your tent flying away since it's no longer a big kite with the cover on! I hope your next market is much better!
I’m so sorry you experienced this, I left a market early for the first time a couple of months ago. Rain was on the forecast all day, yet the organizer didn’t move the market to the rain date. Giant storm cloud came up midway and I had to hold my tent down even though I had two sets of weights on it. I’m a market organizer as well and there are definitely times to make the call to reschedule or cancel! It’s a pain for everyone, but not worth vendors losing their merch and supplies and possibly getting hurt! I require all my vendors to have weights, and always keep an extra set in my car just in case. Those tents can only withstand a certain wind speed, so sometimes events need to be canceled even if it’s a beautiful day 😢
I’m so sorry you’ve experienced the same thing. That’s such a bummer to hear. But wow you sound like the most lovely coordinator, perhaps people need to take notes from you friend ❤ thanks for being amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! I did a Halloween market last week and I also ended up not making back what I spent on my displays and vendor fee and have been super discouraged but I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t have perfect markets!!
Aloha from Hawaii 🌴 I live in the mountains of Hawaii. The wind is definitely dangerous. I can feel my house shaking. You made a very wise decision. Enjoy your next show. ALOHA!!
Did they not require tent weights? Most of the events I do require 40pounds of weight per leg. It’s such a hazard not to. Sand bags are the way to go the disk weights aren’t enough. Do you have insurance? ACT does day of event insurance if you don’t carry it year round.
The event requires steaks or weights. Luckily my tent didn’t budge. Only broke😂 but obviously they weren’t enforcing the 40lb rule. So it was a mess. And That’s great to know thank you!
Oh no! I’m so sorry your market ended up like that. Yikes! I think you made a smart decision to leave. Thanks for showing us the good, the bad and the ugly! Maybe this just means your next market will be your most successful one yet. 💕
Thank you for that. It’s very validating to know you feel the same as me. I always want to be as transparent as I can be with you guys 😊❤and you’re so sweet! Fingers crossed next show will be far better 😊❤
I drove 3 hours one way to get to a market once. I paid $100 for the table and in 5 hours made $9 in sales. There were almost no customers. So I decided to pack up 30 minutes early to get a head start home. The coordinator came over yelling at me telling me I would never be invited back if I left. I told her I was okay with that because there were no customers to speak of. She was livid and marched off. 😂
Oh no! I've been at market events with terrible weather too it's really not worth your safety and if the weather's bad sales aren't great either, so it's not like you're gonna make up for it anyway. Sorry you had to go through that!
The past few craft fairs I have done the tents were flying, it was scary. My daughter and I stuck it out but it was an uneasy feeling. Glad you are alright!
Bummer this happened! My daughter does markets and invested in sandbag weights for when she's on a hard surface and also stakes for when she's in grass!
I am so sorry! What a disaster! Flying tents just sounds dangerous. I'm sure your other markets will be much better! The good news is it really can't get worse than this one. So here's to many more successful markets to come your way!
Ahaha omg I love this! It’s so true! My husband and I both said the same thing! 😂❤ but it was indeed dangerous. Thank you so much for the positive wishes 😊❤
Thats insane, that really could have injured someone!! Yeah it hurts losing that much but you'll always have more shows and events. I just hope those coordinators don't have you blacklisted and lie to others abt the situation. Some of them can be nasty!! Gl
So sorry to hear this happened. And thanks for being authentic and showing the not glamorous part. One question- did you have to get insurance for the show and would that cover the tent? My shows always require insurance but that may just cover damages to others. Not sure. I use thimble which is very affordable. On to the next my friend!
Ohhh okay I’ll have to look into that. I typically do shows that don’t require it and some even have it covered in the fee. (This show I don’t remember ) I purchased my ticket for this show in December but I’ll be looking into thimble for sure!
Nooooooo! The title has me feeling a kinda way, you know?! Ok, I’m watching. 0:31 4:30 we had those banana high winds in Columbus, too!! So crazy! Unsafe, likely. I’m sorry you had this experience. Thank you for always being so transparent and sharing with us! Will you be a Southern Belle this week?? 🧡
That would’ve been the right thing to do I think but unfortunately I don’t see that happening. It’s okay I’ve learned my lesson to not work with them again 😅
The weather is unfortunate... I'm glad everyone is okay. Someone could have been really hurt. I feel for the glass vendor. Thank you for being authentic. 🩷 I over prepare too. I always bring Gatorade Zero too. 😅

Oh my gosh that is horrific. I’m so relieved that you’re okay ❤ I definitely think it needs to be more seriously enforced. People’s safety is no joke
Oh no, that’s terrible. You guys made the right choice by leaving. Weather can be crazy, and a flying tent would be so scary to see. Sorry it didn’t work out, but grateful for your honesty. I’m sure this will help encourage ppl who have had a rough market 🩵🩵
Sorry this happened! So appreciate how real you keep it! Enjoy your videos even if it's not what you planned!❤❤❤
I appreciate that so much my friend ❤
Pumpkins can still sale into Thanksgiving, unless it's a Jack-o-Lantern.
What a bummer! I’m sorry the coordinators were acting that way… I love that you’re still staying so positive. ❤
Thank you friend! And yes always have to be positive! Next one will be better 🫶🏻🥰

I completely agree! But thank you for being so kind. You’re so sweet ❤ and yes! Maybe the next one will make up for both!☺️

Oof what a doozy. You are always telling us to listen to our guts and I'm glad you did!!
Honestly that’s on them for not having proper weights, I do 45 pounds per leg.
@@tearsfortwo4684 most professional shows require 40 per leg. 45 sure can’t hurt.
Oh no Dana! You poor thing. 😔 there are so many things we cannot control in life. You have a wonderful attitude! Onward friend! 🩷🩷

So bummed to hear that was your experience!
I’m so sorry but I love your attitude. I hope you and your husband did something fun for the rest of your day!❤

Thank you friend. It’s all okay ❤
What a shame. Maybe if enough vendors left and complain to the organizers they refund fees or maybe not charge for the next one.
That would’ve been the right thing to do I think but unfortunately I don’t see that happening. It’s okay I’ve learned my lesson to not work with them again 😅
Oh my goodness why is your tent so expensive? Walmart Ozark trail tents are like 75 and so easy to pop up
Really?! Oh wow , I’ll have to look into that
@@BlondieKnots it even has wheels on the bag it's in. Highly recommend.

$200 just to do the event? Daaang. I dont think i would have paid that.
