    Why close all the little clamps when the roller clamp seems to close everything off on its own?

    Do you use the Baxter pumps at your facility? My tubing looks exactly like yours, except mine has a vented spike and drip chamber.

      Where I am currently working we do use Baxter :) This was old expired IV tubing, not sure what pump it went to though.

    When in doubt, banging your tubing on the iv pump always helps to remove bubbles. Ahem. It pulls the bubbles back to the last porthole where you can remove it with a syringe if it is at the level of the iv pump.

    When you say close all the clamps, can you explain why you didn’t close off the blue clamp as well? Maybe I missed something

    priming the tubing is different for alaris pumps versus other iv pumps

    • @Katherine_Ann
      @Katherine_Ann  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do it the same way for alaris pumps! What do you do differently?:)

    • @mirandaalexis
      @mirandaalexis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Katherine_Ann thats what im saying the way you're using is for alaris pumps. theres 2 other types of pumps that use different tubing where that isn't the most efficient way

       @Millennial Nurse Mentor Okay I see what you are saying. I do use this technique with the current pumps I am working with (Baxter) but would you mind sharing the technique you use for the other types of pumps you have worked with?! I would love to know the technique just incase I ever run into those types one day!

      Hmmm, I prime the tubing the same for Alaris pumps too. You just have that blue plastic piece to pull off before inserting into the pump.
