    Hi. What if primary gets empty but secondary still running? Using iv pump

      As long as both bags are set up the correct way (secondary ABOVE primary) and the pump is working correctly, it will pull the fluid from the higher bag. When those fluids run out, it'll switch over and pull from the primary bag. If the primary bag is empty, it'll suck air into the tubing and the pump will alarm "air in tubing" or "air in line". This is a built-in safety mechanism. Always check with the manufacturer's guidelines and ask for help if something unexpected occurs.
