So pure and simple. Possibly the best rendition I have ever heard of what might be the Dead's most transcendent song ever. What a gift this recording is.
The love I see when I visit the comment sections on Dead related videos. WOW. It is such a beautiful thing. They live on through our eyes and are voices. It’s enough to bring tears to a rambling soul like myself. Agape love my friends KEEP ON TRUCKIN 🥀💀🐢
I'm with you. This might be my favorite Grateful Dead song. I can't quite say I love this more than the original, but this version is amazing! Great work!
My GOD, this is glorious - thank you for sharing! Long Live Jerry, Robert H. and Levon!! Such stellar talent here raising this masterpiece to even greater heights!!!
I've always loved "Attics Of My Life"; it stunned me when first released. Through the years, the lyrics have become ever more poignant. Of course, I was aware that as magnificent the version from the Dead, there were their ever present intonation issues. This version by Larry Campbell, Amy Helm & Theresa Williams makes one pause. Different, yes... but heartbreakingly gorgeous.
Outstanding performance. Thank you. Robert Hunter wrote such beautiful timeless lyrics. The words would have made sense 200 years ago as they will 200 years from now.
They did this last night at The Ramble at Levon's Studio in Woodstock last night and it blew me away. All 150 in the audience were silent and in almost a "trance-like" state as was I, thought it was just from the smoke until I looked around and saw everyone else the same way!
My first listenings to this track in American Beauty were always stuck at the surface. When I started to look for the key to any song by Grateful Dead I realized what heritage this band had handed to the humanity! They were really seeking all that’s left unsung.. and the lyrics fitted perfectly in every strange tune they found. Larry Campbell approached this song with utmost awe
I don't know who this trio is, but they were fabulous. ATTICS is one of my all-time favorites and my absolute favorite by The Dead. They took it to a new high. Thank you
This song was my first thought when i heard the news & i came looking to post this song - cannot describe how grateful i am to have found this glorious realization. There cannot be a better tribute to what Robert Hunter gave to us.
Sorry I'm late to the show....this is the most beautiful, full and complete version of Attics I've ever heard....including the original. Be well and be happy.
Saw last week's ramble in woodstock; Larry, Theresa and Amy did this there as well. I was about seven feet away from them in the second row of Levon's barn; unspeakably moving.
In the early seventies I purchased a portable stereo cassette recorder from Panasonic and the first (and only) commercial cassette release I bought was American Beauty. This song has been an important part of my life ever since. I have always wanted to do a vocal arrangement of it, but it has eluded me for all these years. There was an arrangement done by Garrison Keillor on Prairie Home Companion long ago, but I could never track it down. Acoustic1, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
...was at the show the night before.... this Attics aria gives me goosebumps! I might go as far as to say I prefer it over the Dead's version (eek!). Great performance!
nice, very nice!!!!! there will be a day that the deads music will be folk songs our kids kids sing along to at school.(mybe alittle longer off than that.......but its comeing.
Someone's singing a bass or baritone part in addition to the three of them. Who could that be. Check out toward the end "In the secret space of dreams..."
No bass singing. I think that's a combination of the open low E string on the guitar... And shortly after that the male sings some lower parts. Then it's back to tenor/baritone.
Dare I say what many must be thinking, yet fear to say believing it to be sacrilegious, that this version far exceeds any live version Ive ever heard from the Dead

This song almost always makes me cry. So beautiful.
The more I hear Teresa Williams, the more I love her.
I say again: Where is Robert Hunter's Nobel prize?
I mean... he even writes songs for Dylan, so...
Right on.
Agreed
Excellent observation. He was a True Poet Indeed !
agreed ..how many people have never heard of Robert Hunter and they should!
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
Phil Lesh wrote it about his dying father.

That is Box of Rain you’re thinking about. Phil wrote that songs music. Attics of my Life is a Garcia/Hunter composition.
This is the most beautiful rendition of Attics I've ever heard. Thank you!
Seeing Larry&Teresa perform this live, actually moved me to tears!

KEEP ON TRUCKIN 🥀💀🐢
The "wings to fly" part was just so majestic. This performance was very moving.
Man I love the Dead but I must say I like this cover more than the original. Stunningly beautiful. Sends chills down my spine
I'm with you. This might be my favorite Grateful Dead song. I can't quite say I love this more than the original, but this version is amazing! Great work!
So beautiful. I saw these three and Midnight Ramble Band last night 8/20/22 with Phil Lesh in Bethel. Mindblowinngly good,
I love that so many artists are performing this song. It deserves to live and grow.
Impossibly beautiful.
This really may be the best version I've ever heard of this. No disrespect to the masters…..this is live and stellar.
it really really is
I agree. I keep coming back to it. It’s just perfect

I'm sure this is what Jerry had in mind all along. This is such a beautiful version !!

If empaths had a country this would be its national anthem!
Wow. To my core. One of the best comments on TH-cam. Thank you 🙏
Larry Campbell nailing it yet again, what a gift he was to P&F

Fantastic. The Midnight North cover is also excellent, but this is over the top!
Garcia/Hunter reached the apex without a doubt. This is absolutely beautiful ❤
Wow. Just wow.

They were quietly weeping. Just like I'm doing right now.

my favorite song i know what it meens it's about when earth was created by heavens first humans
The GD were great, but it's so nice to hear this sung with good voices and harmony.
Ha... and here I am again searching out Attics covers. I still love this.
Dare I say what many must be thinking, yet fear to say believing it to be sacrilegious, that this version far exceeds any live version Ive ever heard from the Dead
holy smokes
Robert Hunter. Sheeeeesh
Who knew Javier Bardem was so sensitive?? Haha. No really, though, a beautiful rendition of a great song.
i dare someone to thumbs down this....
4 years later and it still hasn't happened.
whhhatttt???? holy sheesh. aww. sigh.
Is this Levon Helm of The Band??? He looks different. Beautiful rendition of a fabulous song.
No, it's Larry Campbell. Try reading.
@@northernmuse9 you didn't need to answer if you were going to be so rude.
This is beautiful...but...the guitar seems like an afterthought, where when the Dead perform it the actual instruments are very prominent.
What kind of horse rustling degenerate do you have to be to give this a thumbs *DOWN*?
