    Largely due to your reviews of the 2023 300xc, I decided to upgrade my 2021 Husky 250i. Ended up with the 2023 TX 300. You were right. What a game changer. I don't know that in 40 years of riding, I've ever been as comfortable or confident on a stock bike.

    Air forks are my favorite for play riding. Multiple revalves is how you get to "there" the better you get your bike working the more the expense is worth it. Platform pegs are an affordable luxury

    My 2021 was 10000.00 bucks. (New in 2021) For as much as they charge for the bike it shouldn’t take 1500 more just for the forks. Maybe a revalve not whole new guts. Also my 250 TPI motor took money to get it as good as a carburetor bike. I’m keeping this bike I have but never getting another new KTM.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To be honest, a simple re valve did make this bike very good and I won a 40+ A Class race on it completely stock before any mods so it was an amazing bike right of the showroom floor. But I hear ya.

    And to be honest I would buy your kid a gasgas mc250 and put a keihin/fmf pipe combo on it. The 19 to 22 frame with a balancer engine is still legit. Then the yz125 would become an heirloom/spare bike. We don't have everything in common but we have a lot in common. 23 XC300 is the 1st new bike I would buy. I would ultimately gut the forks. The difference between big tanks is marginal, but I am an over 3 gallon minimum for a smoker. Have you considered an ohlins shock?

    Its an absolute disgrace that this isn't the stock set up on new ktms! It is after all just an up date on the older CC forks that were stock fitment for years.
    Or at the very least you should be able to spec your new bike with these forks WITHOUT having to pay for the stock junk too.
    Another reason why I'll probably switch brands.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, I really wish they had the Beta model of Build Your Own Bike. You could spec it from the dealer and it would show up with all the stuff you want like a spark arrestor, these forks, and other things and not have to pay for the stuff that will sit on a shelf. That being said, this is still the very best bike I have ridden. And it was before the mods.

    I have a '23 300xc and I'm just finishing up breaking it in (6 hours on it now). My only real complaint is that it knifes under in 3rd/4th gear deep sand (yes, I'm in Michigan). Not sure if the front is too soft (even though I've got over 2½" of unused front travel) or maybe the rear has too much compression. But on hard pack I'm happy with the suspension.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      6500 hands down. I feel like the only people who can use cone valves hard enough to justify them are professionals.

    • @BAYAREAMX
      @BAYAREAMX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have cone valves. They were too stiff originally so I paid $1200 for a suspension tuner to take the cones out and put in race tech gold valves (his idea not mine) Now they’re amazing! But now I have $4700 into a pair of forks with performance that can be closely matched with a $1500 6500 kit or a revalve.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BAYAREAMX that is the problem. The cone valve system is really cool but really firm. You can valve them and make them more compliant (even leaving them in) but then you end up with performance like these. So far, these are the best bang for the buck in the “A Kit” range of money.

    Dang dude after spending way too much time researching suspension options and finally landing on Mxtech Ravens, I’m second guessing my decision hearing you prefer the WP6500. I’m a 42 year old B class rider on a 2020 300xc and literally a day away from shipping my suspension off.

    Timing couldn’t be better for this video. I’m at a crossroads with my 2019 FX350, it’s due for fork service… feeling really harsh and sticky now. I feel like I loved them when the bike was new but now at 100 hours. I rode a 2022 250xc with stock xact suspension and it felt soo much more plush than mine. Again I know mine are due for service so that’s not a real comparison. This weekend I rode a 2023 300 xc with stock valving but with racetech spring conversion and WOW!!! It was so nice I don’t have words. I rode it though the same whoops and Rocky section I had just gone through on mine and it was night and day difference. I’m trying to decide between inntech glide kit and refresh my suspension at the same time, or racetech spring conversion with also refreshing everything else… or going with some inserts like this. What is your opinion? @highlandcycles

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      I now have more time on these and I can’t recommend them enough. I’m not sure which racetech setup you rode but these inserts are brilliant!! I will be releasing a new video talking about them again in Utah but I can say for sure they are worth it and better than any other setup I’ve ridden.
