    I had an extra 1022, GLS10 Black Box and Livescope transducer so I decided to make a portable unit for two reasons. 1. A second angler can fish a different tree or not have to worry about staying in my cone during a tournament and 2. so I can take this in my flat bottom boat or on others boats. This is a very simply way to make it happen. To see the pole that I made a few years ago, check out this link. • $20 LIVESCOPE POLE MOU...

    I hope you enjoyed this video. If you have something that can be changed or improved upon, feel free to comment and let others know. This is a system that works for me but not for everyone. If you build this, let me know. I am always open to suggestions. Thanks for watching and I look forward to your comments!

      Many thanks for a really nice video. Really enjoy your channel.
      I don't own a Garmin yet but am looking seriously at them. One thing you might want to consider is some type of tie down strap if you have this unit sitting on the upper floor of the boat, so in case you accidently bump into it while fishing it doesn't go overboard. I think???? a simple nylon/velcro strap mounted to your deck area where you intend to set the box while fishing would do the trick.

      @@helicopterjohns Thank you, that is a good idea. Honestly on my boat with a flat surface it sits flat and there is enough weight with the contents to include battery and the graph that you would have to kick it to make it move, but I like that idea, especially in a windy day and when I use it on my other boat. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion. I appreciate you!

    I notched out the plywood to give the cables a little more room. I think I will also add an adel clamp on the back of the box to run the cables through to my uhd 93sv while in use. Thanks for the instruction on this video. I also enjoy watching your fishing videos.

    I like this setup better than ones I've seen with the screen attached inside the lid, but I worry about it being top-heavy and being anywhere near the side of the boat.

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. It really is not that bad as the base has a lot of weight. I now use my 1222 on top of it and it holds pretty good. It I were in big waves that might be a problem. The other thing that could be done is just take a larger sheet of plywood and attach to the bottom which would give it more stability. We will be using it this weekend for a tournament. My partner will use that one and I will use the one attached to my trolling motor. We have learned that we just pull the transducer out of the water, move the unit to the inside of the boat when we are motoring, move it back when time to fish. I will be doing a video this weekend on it with the new Sniper Marine transducer pole so stay tuned and should have it posted later in the week or the start of next week. Thanks for the comments.

      @AsleepAtTheReel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on, it probably would. I might do the holes a little different. You probably do not need to have the breathing holes like I had and put some rubber stopper in that the wires go through, something a little more water proof, but yeah I think it would work great! thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @BarrelShroud

    Great video! When I built it I was able to fit a 50AH ecowoorthy battery and the gls 10 by using front and back of box instead of side to side. This saved me so much over a shuttle where the GLS is just out in the open!

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds great! Unfortunatly my box is not big enough to mount them the other way, it is to narrow, but it would have been nice to have a little wider box. I have not had a problem, but can see how rough water may make it unstable. One thing that I have changed is the RAM Mount. I have removed that since I needed it for another project and simply mounted it straight to the top. It actually works better and is a little more stable. Thanks for the comments and the watch. Have a great day!

  • @DLXSKIFFMITCHELL

    Exact same setup I have except I added outside switches for the graph and gls10. As well I added a clear bowl up top to keep the transducer cord from having such a hard bend in it and I can see the light on the gls10 box.

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good idea on the bowl up top. I thought about using the switches, but honestly the only time I would use it is the beginning of the day and the end of the day and I have to open it up anyway to get the battery out to charge. Great minds think alike! 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Hello, I just bought that same box with a 30Ah battery. Should I use a fuse block or stick with multiple in-line fuses?

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Either is fine but would probably go with the in-line fuses. I say that simply because I think each one comes with a fuse built-in. No need to spend more. Not sure if they are different amps or not, but they are already set. If you want to put another in that is fine, just gives you more to check if something goes wrong.

  • @andrewduncan2070

    Simple set up. Curious as I want a similar set up. Does the module heat up in the box? Is that something you need to worry about?

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank You for the question. We have used this all day for a tournament in the June time frame. It really did not get that hot, for sure did not give any warnings or show signs of over heating. One thing to note is there are holes cut on both sides for wires but there is plenty of room for air flow.

    How would you mount the pole to a boat that is not yours? Like you said using on another person boat?

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really sure. The way I have it on one of my other videos is simply removing one screw and placing the ram mount there and running the mount off a ram mount. Other that that I am sure you could figure a way out to put a pole on the unit. I have not had to do this as I run it in my boat. Good question and something to think about!!

    • @AsleepAtTheReel
      @AsleepAtTheReel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes they do. There is a bend but I had the bend because of the original install. One guy sent me a picture of his top, he did the exact same thing, only took a piece of basically a plastic bowl and mounted it there. He cut the top and wood around the connections and put the clear plastic bowl on top with glue. That kept is water tight and he was able to see in to see the indicator light if there was a problem. That is something that I will add to this, but other than that, it works perfect. Thanks for watching and asking a question. Great question and hope I gave a good answer!
