I always liked when the commander read off the names of the ships that were destroyed if u save the council. It makes a very clear message that u understand full well the weight of ur decision, and u regret the losses suffered, but did so for a greater cause and honor those who died. Honor, something that reporter needs to learn about.

Think that's the kind of thing people keep in their heads all the time?
      I don't.
In my fic, I have my Engineer/Infiltrator Shepard fitted with a neural implant that uses an onboard VI (like SIRI or Google Assistant, but running on *local* bloodstream DCE.)
It puts these relevant facts on his ARO so he can see and read them aloud to her because it's listening in on the conversations he's having, and keeps him well-informed.
It's unusual because it was the result of an accident when he was 13, and he had been tinkering with it as he lived with it.
I hope NeuraLink will offer some functionality like that when it becomes more broadly commercialised.
(VI - Virtual Intelligence, DCE - Distributed Computing Environment, ARO - Augmented Reality Overlay)

This sort of decision would weigh extremely heavily, Shepard would of had multiple night possibly going over every ship that he sentenced to destruction. that sort of thing is incomprehensible to us because none of us have ever had to make such a massive decision.

He emphasizes that choices like that, while he does make them, are not something he makes lightly, and that the dead men and women don't deserve to be remembered the way she's treating their memory: as a vain sacrifice. Always thought the punch was more of a weird hidden responce you could take for hardcore renegades, untill I saw more and more peoples on forum/video responces and requests to punch (any) reporter during life playthroughs. Never thought her questions were to extreme either, tough questions maybe but thats mostly the journalist style I'm used too from reporters. And why waste precious war effort points (pre legendary edition) for a meme. Hitting a reporter on purpose by a militairy officer in real life would be a huge thing against freedom of the press so I never even could think of doing this (unless I wanted a pure renegade run).

And you’re right, journalists are allowed to have opinions - everyone is - but it’s important to try to stay impartial in that profession. I don’t think she deserves the horror of losing her family and friends. But I don’t want to encourage her style of journalism.
Then again… in a high-choice media environment, it’s important to have people who argue for a particular side so everyone has a voice. So it’s good there are Shepard’s like you who do encourage her.

      -----
How? She isn't asking you any personal "celebrity gossip" questions or unimportant questions, she is asking you about your allegiances and your decisions, which are natural foreign policy concerns which the average human would have of a black ops person working for an IGO that their country is not a part of (who has also been given an important ship). Just because she has opinions about the facts does not mean she is a tabloid reporter.
We don't even know if those are her actual opinions. They may very well be the questions that average people (some of whom are conspiracy theorists) would want to ask Shepard. It is important for Shepard to answer those questions, even if they may be uncharitable. Some reporters conduct interviews in that way and it's a good thing otherwise you will just get more conspiracy theorists creating the narrative.

A journalist should have good facts and be rational, if those facts are consistent with a given conclusion , then being impartial is not rational or ethical.
      This is what she knows.
      1: Shepard is unelected.
2: Shepard is a black ops person working for an organization the human government is not a part of.
3: Shepard was given an important ship by an admiral who was his superior officer.
4: Shepard has foreign nationals/aliens on this important ship.
5: There are conspiracy theories about what Shepard is currently doing (on Noveria, Feros, regarding Saren) which may or may not be true.
6: In ME2, Shepard makes a decision about the council which is controversial no matter what that decision is.
Questions related to this have to be asked. How does one ask these questions in an impartial way, in your opinion? And if you go paragon and say nice things about the council, then your allegiances will naturally be in question.

Don't know why anyone would punch her lmao. She's just a reporter. Tabloid, maybe, but ME3 shows there's a genuine person underneath.

She's an annoying reporter. We get spoiled with Emily Wong, and then this lady shows up making snide insinuations, disingenuous assertions, and tabloid journalism.
Punching her is funny and doesn't really hurt you.

Thank you for doing this I didn't actually think it was possible to beat Saren, the Collectors or even the Reapers without punching the reporter.

I love how she boost war assets in mass effect 3 if you never punch her. She strengthens several war assets for around a total of 500 points to my knowledge in 3. Plus as a 99% paragon player I never considered it. I could wrong on the number though.

Ok Big Dan. You have done something almost impossible, almost no one knew that this was even an option to not punch her in the face, but it was.
Now I and everyone in the entirety of the mass effect community must ask you for one last sacrifice.
Find out what happens if you actually select Udina as the first human councilor in mass effect 1. I know it must seem like an impossible task, but you are the only one that can get this done.
