    Sorry for two comments but, I love your video. I subscribed because I’m so happy to watch your video and I hope there are many more for the brother scan and cut. So many videos for circuit but we brother users need videos like yours.

      Comment all you like Patti, it's nice to hear from the 'outside world'. Glad you like the video, there's a lot I've picked up from sheer trial and error because I *never* read the instructions! I think we have some more in the pipeline, just a case of thinking up something new, c x

    Hi. Fabulous tutorial. I am trying to learn (and therefore make a smart decision). Do the Brother Scan and Cuts require being connected to a computer or can they be used as a standalone unit? Thanks for your patience ... I am a total greenhorn.

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the things that I love about the ScanNCut is that it can be used just on its own. Simply draw your design, scan it, fiddle about with it on the display screen, and cut it. Or there are lots of pre-programmed designs in the machine itself that can be manipulated. As someone that has never really embraced computers this is a massive plus point because the process is so speedy. There is a lot more you can do if you do connect it to the Canvas Workspace software and you will need to do this to activate any extension packs. Do you have any crafty contacts that might let you have a play around on their machine? c x

    Hi can I just say your tutorials for the SDX are simple with no nonsense explanations. As I share your tutorials on a Scan n Cut FB forum, could I ask for the correct spelling of your name; because at the moment I'm describing you as the lovely lady. Thank You for your inspiration.

      Ha ha, thank you for the compliment! My name is Corinne Bradd, but you're forgiven if you get it wrong. Even my dad asked me how to spell it the other day ;-) c x

  • @patrickjames6109
    @patrickjames6109 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Corinne, Is it normal for the mat to get noticeable cuts every time I use the cut function? I've only done two projects including the starter box pattern supplied with the machine. I was surprised how deep the cuts were on the mat. If it's normal, great. Just checking. From Shauna in Sydney

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shauna, you will always get visible cuts on the mat, realistically the blade needs to go right through what you're cutting otherwise the pieces won't come away cleanly. Only worry if you can see the cuts on the other side of the mat. Try and avoid cutting the same thing in the same place multiple times to prevent the blade going over the same place each time, c x

    That was great thank you. I have had my ScanNcut SDX2200D for quite a while but yes I too lost my confidence to use it. But now I have begun. Can I ask please though, all the designs and Disney Designs that I thought came with this machine say that I have to put an Activation Code in!!!!!!!

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's strange. I'm sure my Disney machine had them built in. Maybe there are other designs that you have to buy separately? I think you may have to get hold of Brother themselves for an answer, sorry, c x

    So much to learn! I have barely used my SnC. My mat got a tiny little bend in the top corner and the machine keeps spitting it out! Can I put my mat in the other way?

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the older mats could be feed in either end but the newer SDX mats are one way only. All I can suggest is try to bend the mat the corner the other way and see if it flattens out a bit, sorry, c x

    • @sherylosullivan9619
      @sherylosullivan9619 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your reply. I think I have tried to ‘unbend’ the mat but without success. I have bought another generic brand one but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve put my machine on my bench ready to try again tomorrow! Thanks for the inspiration. There aren’t very many videos on TH-cam for scan n cut so I’m glad I found yours.

      @@TheCraftsChannel hello. You mention in the video that it was to be similar on most machines I would of course the patterns available are different between the CM and SDX models. Once a pattern is selected I couldn’t add the border to it (0.04) or duplicate it. I tried saving it and pulling it out of the machine memory but still couldn’t get the editing options. Thought I’d have a go at a pattern on my Tattered Lace USB tonight.

    • @eh2179
      @eh2179 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheCraftsChannel hello. I don’t have a pattern in the cm900 suitable for this project so tried retrieving one from a TL USB (lacey image to see a different background through). I don’t get the offset button on 2nd image to reduce it.

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eh2179 Ah, I understand. I think maybe the only way round that (and it'll be time consuming) is to cut your original image, draw around it onto white paper with a pencil, add a narrow border to the outline with a black pen, scan it as a separate image, and use that as the offset. Does that make sense? c x

    • @eh2179
      @eh2179 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheCraftsChannel hello. Thanks for getting back to me. Yes that makes sense and yes, I think that will be time consuming. Such a pity. I loved this demo of yours and couldn’t wait to try it on my cm900 but couldn’t get it work properly. I added a border but not how you did it (as didn’t get the options you had), but by making it bigger on the copy. The proportions weren’t right tho on the cut out. Ex

    I followed the instructions but when I hit cut and start I kept getting “No pattern in the effective area”, where did I go wrong?

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've had that come up, think it was when my cutting mat size was incorrect. Also check the outline of what you want to cut is black, if it's a blue drawing file the machine won't see it to cut. Are you working from the online software or purely from the machine? There might be hidden layers. The only other thing I can suggest is try moving the image into the centre of the layout grid and cutting from a piece of scrap paper to see if that works, c x
