I’ve got the Chord Company version. I tried an ifi 5v power supply, it was different, not better. I also tried a 5v LPS. That was overall better than either SMPS.
My honest opinion is that the power supply is more important than the switch.

I’m an audiophile, but thankfully I am also a network engineer with a systems engineering background. So I know not to waste money on audiophile switches. If you like there is a LTT video debunking the audiophile switch.

@@mnoble247 Hi, thanks for your reaction.
I have 2 questions before I can react to your statement:
      1. Is that from the video where they clearly explained the differences they heard?
      2. Did you download a TH-cam stream that you then also reworked in Audacity?

While that LTT video was very entertaining and enlightening, all it did was show that there are scrupulous vendors out there, like in any other industry. It doesn't prove that switches don't make a difference. It's cheap enough to buy a dlink dgs105, and a good power supply like a spare 5v linear psu or ifi ipower. Have an open mind, if it doesn't make a difference, awesome. If it does, welcome to the next level in audio.

One inexpensive upgrade you can make to a consumer network switch like the NetGear you have is to get a medical equipment grade switching power supply for under 20€. They are supposed to be more quiet.

There is no way that a network switch can affect audio data. If it did, you would lose data, documents and parts of songs. The data remains the same, no matter the switch.

People have been saying that about powercables, dac’s, amplifiers, interconnects, speakercables, cd transports…and so on.
And every time it turned out the naysayers were wrong.
What most of the naysayers don’t understand is that it is not only about the data (like it’s not only about the ones and zeros).
It is about how the whole architecture around the data is created (how the equipment is build).
Especially Amir has been called out for being extremely closed minded about this.
He ONLY looks at measurements and we know for a fact that that is not the only factor.
In fact, many equipment that measures perfect sounds like crap and vice versa.

@@theaudiophilebarista2424 what the manufacturer claims on the website is straight up bullshit, there is no other way to spin it.
In the manufacturer page they talk about oscillator crystal which supposedly should improve data transmission, which is straight up impossible if you know how TCP transmission protocol works. You either get the bit perfect packet or you don't, and when you don't then the packet is sent again until it arrives, it's simple as that, that's how TCP works and if that wasn't the case we wouldn't even be messaging on TH-cam because the entire internet infrastructure based on cryptography wouldn't work without bit perfect transmission.
Another reason that can't possible impact the audio in any way is because the data you transmit is buffered and not real time (which would require UDP protocol), the DAC will read the exact same bits from the ethernet as it was plugged in a computer or as if it had his own memory onboard. The only time this doesn't work is if the connection is so bad you start losing so many packets the buffer can't keep up, but in that case you don't get something that's a bit worse (ie you describing you think this DAC helps you hear fainter details in the song), you straight up get a song that stops playing completely or you get artifacts that are so bad the song becomes impossible to listen.
The other claim they make is that you get less electrical noise from one of their switches, while that might be true from a strictly technical point of view one needs to consider two things: first, a good DAC should not be impacted by noise possibly coming from the switch, because the DAC itself should be built in a way to avoid electrical interference.
Second, unless something went extremely wrong we're talking about extremely small currents, things you might see on an oscilloscope and that I bet whatever you want aren't possible noticeable by human ears.
I've tried listening to the song you mention in the video, apart from the fact that with my extremely simple setup (a good soundcard and a pair of IEMs) I can notice the difference between the two guitars with no issue, I've noticed that the noise floor of the recording itself is definitely orders of magnitude bigger than anything that could possible come from a properly working network switch so no, I still don't believe a network swtich can make any perceivable difference and there are blind tests showing it.
Alpha Audio (or whoever claims that it's something possible to detect) could just record the output of a DAC connected to different switches and see if there is any audible difference to prove their point, instead of recording meaningless values with an oscilloscope.

@@sleepyf1 we have the tools to measure minuscule differences in audio signals, differences that are way below human threshold of hearing start providing evidence that such differences exist and that they're caused by switches for s starter.
And after that, IF there are differences caused by the switches, prove they're audible with blind testing.
Spoiler: they aren't, and what manufacturers claim is utter BS it you gave any idea how TCP protocols work
