I'm an old Marine. The 1911 was my original issue. I've owned a lot of different firearms in my lifetime. The 1911 is still my go to carry gun. You are spot on, if you know how to run it, there is nothing better.
+mikewalsh03 never miss fired any of my guns ever, but we all know people who are hellbent on defending their 1911 just like the .45 because it is the same size as their dicks
I served in the US Navy and as of my discharge in 92 the 1911 was the issued sidearm. I still carry a 1911 today, I've never had it fail to perform. I can also add that I've never had it discharge while pulling it from the holster and shoot myself in the leg ( something I've seen Glock users do on more than one occasion. I've never needed more rounds than I have loaded in the pistol. I tell my friends that if they ever see me running to keep up, because whatever it is is bad and I've shot it at least twice. A lot of people don't like the 1911 and that's fine. As for me it's my 1st second third and last choice to carry, and I know my life is well protected.
Most of the time shooting yourself in the leg is due to poor trigger discipline or a faulty holster catching the trigger when reholstering. Im more of a revolver guy personally but i love the 1911. The best carry gun is one you are comfortable with.
@@jaythus3181 a Glock will never fire on it's own. You can literally chuck it full force against the wall and nothing will happen. And it's got a trigger safety, but, the 1911's design is amazing -- both a grip safety AND a thumb safety. My first handgun was a Glock 19 (still have and rotate with carry) and my second was a 1911 Commander. Both are excellent guns and I trust my life with them. The only problem with a Glock is it's user. There's a reason many law enforcement agencies and militaries across the world trust their life with it. ESPECIALLY, the Navy SEALs.
The 1911 was designed at a time when Men took care of their tools and dedicated the time and effort to learn and understand how to maintain them. Today most males don't even bother to carry a pocket knife let alone invest the time and effort necessary to properly run a 1911. Further there are dozens of companies producing variations of what are often referred to as 1911 pistols. These vary WIDELY in metallurgy and quality of manufacture and the good ones are NOT cheap.
+Shit House Rat I'm just curious into what you mean when you say it has design limitations? could you expand upon this topic. I'm just trying to learn.
I carried a 1911 in Nam, 1966, but never handled another auto loader until my PD transitioned from the revolver to a Glock in the mid ‘80s (I retired in ‘97). What you say about the 1911 is spot on, but it requires regular training to establish muscle memory (like anything else). As for the internet, I’ve found it to be loaded w/phony experts & lots of keyboard warriors. As someone that survived three officer involved shootings I do take exception w/the idea that eight rounds of .45 is enough. One incident I was involved in the suspect absorbed several high velocity rounds from my .38 but kept on fighting, and I’ve seen others fail to stop after being hit several times by a forty-five. Good video, I understand your rant.
I’m not a glock fan I’m sig and kimber, but like you said carry what you like and what fits you, so keep on carrying your glock and stay safe my fellow firearm loving friend.
I have 4 1911s and love every one of them. They have nevee failed me when I carried them off duty. They are not for everyone, but I feel very safe and secure when I carry mine. Very accurate, very reliable, nuff said
They are for everyone who will train and gain skill, even women and children. I trained with my Dad when I was 10. I own a bunch of em today--never can have enough of em.
Jayden Mallison , appears to prefer quantity (high capacity) over quality ( history of effectiveness ) . Does that mean he needs 17 to get the job done ?
I cared a 1911 A1 as a Medic. Liked it so much that I purchased a Springfield Mil Spec. This guy is right, practice, muscle memory. When you first start shooting, let each discharge surprise you. It's not as easy as it sounds. Once you get past the "kick-flinch" you'll notice a dramatic improvement in your groups. Practice, trigger control and proper sight alignment, bingo!
I put a Colt 1911 in my hands today at my local gunshop and fell in love with it. I had been led to believe that colts were out of my budget range but the man quoted me a price of $799, maybe a tad high, but affordable for me. I'll have to save for awhile to get it but I know it's a good investment and an excellent weapon. Thanks for your informative video about the proper grip for this gun. This was a key piece of information I needed.
I bought a 1911 that was a box of parts, the owner took it apart years ago and wasn't comfortable getting it back together. I offered to assemble it but he said he'd rather sell it at a good price as is. I jumped at it and had it together in minutes and it is now one of my favorites. It's a WWII era gun in pretty good shape. (I paid $200 )
Honestly, people hate the 1911 for the same reason people hate Glocks. Each of their fan bases can be absolutely fanatical about their choice and it grinds on people so much they come to hate the gun itself. Just my view.
Couldn't agree with you more, John. I have both as well as Sig, Smith, and Kahr. It's America, buy what you like and learn to use it safely and proficiently.
I takes the average shooter less than three seconds to replace a magazine, whether it be on the range or the battlefield. There are 1911 configurations available today with 10+ round magazines. My opinion is the more ammo, the smaller the caliber of the round. No, I don't believe in the big bullet theory, the only one-shot-kill-man-stopper-round is one that is placed in the triangle formed by the eye socket orbs and a point above the bridge of the nosel.
Loved 1911 since a kid my daddy brought one home from ww11 my uncle asked my daddy did he steal the gun from the military he said I felt like I earned it .
I have a Colt and 2 RIA double stacks. All 3 work great. The crying about too wide a grip, waaaaa. I also shoot Ruger SBHs in 44mag large grip too. I have small hands and have zero issues with the grips.
My 2 cents on the "If you can't hit someone with 8 rounds you shouldn't have a gun." This is totally true. Adrenaline or not, we civilians aren't in a war zone. If you can't hit an attacker with 8 rounds, where did those 8 rounds go? Into a residence? Into a store? Into someone's car? How many innocent people did you put at risk by emptying a magazine? Training, training, and more training. If you are so consumed by adrenaline that you can't shoot effectively, you're better off without a weapon that can take an innocent person's life.
I agree, watch any self defense video caught on tape. The attacker is incapacitated in avg 3 shots! Very few hit 4-5 which is over kill in most videos.
Yep, you are right, if you MISS the INTENDED target, you just might hit an unintended one. Just a FEW yers ago, the typical self defense shooting an average of two shots were fired. But now everyone carries these 9 MM with 17 18 rounds, and there is so much "Stress Shooting" or "Panic Shooting", even cops will shoot 18 rounds and might hit the target once if they are lucky. I will bet the average Self Defense shooting NOW is over 10 rounds and very often zero hits. Anyone ever look at the Keogh Brothers attempted arrest in Ohio a few years back?? It was on TH-cam, it probably still IS. But two cops emptied their guns at point blank range and missed completely. Ron White even included it in his comedy routine. This seems to happen so much now, many shots fired, not many if any hits. th-cam.com/video/S20Z8rpKGtM/w-d-xo.html This is the Keough Brothers event. BB
extremely good point...I've seen videos of cops emptying 17 rounds in an urban area trying to hit someone...scary to think where some of those rounds went
Cops hit 7% of their shots and they train day in and day out. You can’t expect a civilian to hit every shot or even half during a mass shooting or some other shit.
@@carryeveryday910 I know civilians who have shot their guns mores time than the entire local police force put together fired in the last century. One police test is to shoot at a target at five feet and you only need three hits anywhere on target to qualify. HALF the cops failed on their first attempt (this includes forgetting to rack the slide or inserting the magazine). One now retired policeman discovered that his revolver had a single action feature and turned it in fearing he had broken the gun. He was never told the gun could do that, just to point it, pull the trigger and report to the range twice a year to fire a few shots. He carried his revolver for years and never changed the ammo in the cylinder, he pulled his gun a few times, but never had to use it.
Yeah until it get some mud on it then U be fukd best combat pistol ever made hahahaha no it's a good range pistol but I won't say combat I've heard from nam viets who seen action laying in mud walking threw a swamp dat really fukd up any chance of useing it to defend yourself even wen they look clean U can't trust it to feed a clip and soldiers that went down rat tunnels had issues if they came up against a ak47 down there best thing to do was turn off the touch and gtfo if mud got on it a hard weapon to keep clean
@@ivanvolkov4469 you're aware that the government does a lot of testing b4 they adopt a sidearm! Then keep it in use for 75 years!! The 1911 must have pretty damn good qualities! The bottom line is....the best gun is the one u have on you when something terrible happens! It doesn't have a name, or a caliber...it just hopefully has a smooth operator behind it, that knows what they're doing!
@@ivanvolkov4469 well one thing if you knew your facts tunnel rats that had a brain carried a357 mag or 44 mag revolver because of that exact situation but in open combat situation it's the go to it cant even tell you how many texas rangers and marshals carry 1911 concepts especially the newer models that our double stacked
my buddy is same way.17 year navy vet and carriers 2 19 11 in a custom dual vertical shoulder harness.Hes like 6'4 275 so weight for everyday carry isn't a problem for him.He doesn't shoot two at once either it's for whatever side is best and always wears a colmbia or similiar light full sleeve shirt/thin light over shirt.Looks like a beast but actually is really profitiant with either hand.Hes one of my good buddies a little older than me but a wealth of knowledge and experience. Thanks for your service.
I own many different types of pistols. Glocks Sigs etc… I carry and trust my life to my Colt 1911. I prefer the 1911 and I shoot it waaaay better than most other guns. Great video. 👍🏼🤠
As a new shooter, I knew the 1911 was a longer learning curve. I love the safetys on it and the heft of the metal versions. My gun is set up for marksmanship, the goal is to train up to the level it's for. If I wanted a point and shoot/reliable home defense firearm, I would have bought a revolver. Thanks for the common sense video!
There was a time when it was a 1911 or revolver in my world. In recent years I have expanded my horizons. My carry gun now is a SIg P-320 Compact in .45 ACP. 9+1, 3.9" barrel, great ergos/trigger, 26 ounces, and I shoot it really well. However... I bought another 1911 today.
I carried a old Remington rand 1911 in the service, it was world war two era and it was an awesome pistol, it performed flawlessly and shot really well, now I carry a officers model. and your very correct about buying a good magazine
I almost agree there's cases where bad guy hopped up on pcp has taken 30/40 shots and still shooting at police. Finally stopped with a 12ga slug to the spine To stop him. And that was with pretty Much every handgun caliber 9mm 40 45 etc. Handgun doesn't have a true stopping power. I've heard if a 45 hits you in the finger it will knock you down. I have serious doubts.
@@rustyjames2202 bro don’t you know if you carry a 2 inch snubby or a 1911 you can overcome adrenaline, and druggies don’t exist. Also you just hit them with the one shot they instantly die . It’s all fudd nonsense. 9mm and 45 have almost identical wound channels and I have seen many body cam videos of people eating 9,10,11 shots the the chest and still fight .
What I learned myself is that if you start training with a 1911 first, you can literally pick up any other semi-auto pistol and have no problems adapting. I do have polymer pistols in my arsenal however the basis of my skills began with the 1911 and has evolved as I went along and learned other types of pistols, so I owe a lot the the 1911. Even when I shot with other pistols for a while, going back to the 1911 always felt refreshing.
I can attest for that, though I seem to have a problem with a polymer gun, give me a 1911 I can at ten yards put rounds in the bullseye, give me a glock I can not hit for shit.
Agreed, I also started with a 1911, and have no problem using other platforms. I also noticed that I can't find any non-1911 that I don't think the trigger sucks on. Nothing beats the 1911 triggers.
1911 is the gun which fit my hand the best, i mean my hand feel terrible when it comes to a glock grip, and the way how you can put your thumb on the safety make it feel so comfortable, and the grip safety feels good to me as well
As a Corpsman of the seventies the 1911 was the weapon of choice in my situation. I agree training, familiarity and practice is essential but all is for not if determination is not followed through. The weapon is not for long shooting as I was taught it was developed for stopping power. This is the reason I love the gun and would use it in such situations as self defense.
I am a retired military guy and I love having a safety because we are all human and shit happens so considering we all are around our loved ones a great deal of time and the probability of an accident that could happen is a great deal more than the probability that you are going to be in a quick draw shooting scenario. It makes perfect sense to have a safety! Like this guy says train with your safety and when you are at the range every time have the safety on and draw and take the safety off for each round of shooting so you will be proficient at it.
Until I owned one, I was not a fan of the 1911. I was convinced that modern polymer framed 9mm semi-automatics with high capacity magazines were the way to go. Having made up my mind that I would never stray from polymer 9mm's, I surprised myself by purchasing a modern 1911 when I saw a Remington R1 on sale for a reasonable price. I liked its old timey, World War One looks and I told myself I was buying it for its "Historical Significance". Then I took it to the range and shot it. The grip is perfection: I was amazed that the 100+ year old design, drafted and machined from straight lines and simple arcs, could feel so comfortable . A little practice and I found I could aim this 1911 just as fast as my 9mm with it's CAD designed ergonomic grips that took lots of practice to get my "handshake" with them right. I was also amazed to find that 45ACP does not recoil any harder than 9mm Luger (at least in my hands). Yes, tear down and cleaning is a little more difficult but not by much. Yes, ammo is more expensive, but if that were the only metric: We'd all be fighting over the last box of 22LR at Wally World. No, my prejudice was based on the false belief that newer is always better and I now know that I was wrong. 1911's are comfortable to grip, easily aimed, and shoot accurately with less practice.
@Philip Freeman I'm both a veteran and a retired Fed LEO as well. I started in LE with a .357 magnum revolver. I've carried all manner of firearms in the line of duty. I believe that one should carry what they shoot best with, and are willing to carry. Having a .30-30 Model 94 would be nice, but impractical at the local mall. Carry what you can hit a target with...you are responsible for every bullet sent down range. Having a high magazine capacity doesn't help when you cannot accurately place your shot. I would feel comfortable with a S&W Model 27, a Glock 27, or a 1911. As for your comment about knowingly carrying a handgun into a gunfight; one of my crusty old firearms instructors once told me, "If you know you are going to get into a gunfight today, call in sick." He had been in three of them and didn't care very much for the experience.
Thanks for the video. I have shot and carried the 1911 for 45 years. I carry a colt right now. I have a Kimber and Tarurus. All three shoot flawlessly. And are very easy and safe to shoot. YesI have a glock, and a few others. I go to one of my 1911's every time.
ricfly52 taurus isnt the most reliable, if i were you id buy a sig or a Springfield, not knocking your load out but taurus 1911 scare me, they make great durable .44 magnums though for some reason they are the best cheap .44 magnums around, its not a ruger or a s&w but its a good revolver
A 1911 saved my life. 3 different times. It was designed to have INTERCHANGEABLE parts, be built and assembled by the lowest bidder and be easy to train on. Its been around for over 100 years. I think its a fine pistol. If you're afraid to carry it in Condition 1, then DON'T CARRY A PISTOL. I agree with you, cowboy. Good video.
When I first started using my 911, i was leery. I was used to a revolver and it was a totally different animal. But after a few weeks of dry practice and shooting it, I was doing much better and wasn't afraid of it whatsoever. I like it because if it breaks, I know I can get parts for it without any problems.
I see you're knocking Glocks I got a Glock 20 Gen 4 10 mm Auto shoot the heaviest rounds I will trust my life on it 1911 to me is a 45 it was never made for the 10 mm the Glock is the only gun that can handle that round I like 1911's but don't knock the Glock
I prefer 1911's but I don't criticize anyone's personal preference in handguns. I applaud that they're carrying in the first place. Currently in Florida one in 10 citizens are concealed carriers with permits. That's close to 2.2 million armed citizens at any given time. The most by far than any other state in the union. I sleep better knowing that.
Holy shit! That was funny and informative. I laughed my ass off at your ranting throughout the video AND I learned several things about the 1911. I’m fairly new to handguns in general, and my first 1911 (RIA Rock standard) is sitting at my FFL right now. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Serious piece of firearms history. Clearly one of the great guns of all time. I was fortunate to inherit 700 rounds of .45 caliber, so I had to get a gun to shoot them with. 🤷♂️ PS. Liked and subscribed. 👍
Not all folks like the venerable 1911 which is fine, but as with any firearm you own, you should take the time to understand the proper methods of its usage and maintenance.
That is the best thing that I have heard on this thread or any other youtube thread in a long time. Train with what you have and get good with it no matter the gun. My daughter has a Ruger SR22 and she can tack drive the Hell out of that gun. I'd hate to be the person she put 10 .22 caliber bullets in their center mass within a 2 inch spot. And she can unload that mag in rapid speed. She can do that because she trains a lot with it.
@Dana Frost. You do know that in order for the 1911 to fire or any gun,you have to chamber a round, especially the 1911 the 1911 has to be loaded, thumb safety off and grip safety depressed. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
***** I think 1911 fans take it way to personal if some one has a distaste for the weapon. My favorite 45 pistol is my old Ruger P345 it is the only 45 that I will carry. Not many people like that gun, or even remember it's existence. I like it though heck I love. Because it works for me, and it only has 8+1 as capacity. I only carry it now and then for sentimental reasons. I own 1911 for patriotic reason and they are just gorgeous as hell. Yet, I'm not going to choose to use one for self defense. It's just my choice.
Eddie's VLOGS Lol!!! Touche. And in fact I don't like classic cars. I'm a technophile for sure. But if I had 69 Chevelle (which is pretty cool) it wouldn't be my daily driver it would be a showcase car. Just like my 1911s are my show case and braggadocio guns.
I have to give my 2 cents as well.. First off I own and carry a 103 yr old 1911 and she shoots deadly accurate she has been very well taken care of so it's no beater gun but isn't a safe queen either, as for those that argue that 8 + 1 isnt enough, well i always carry 2 extra mags so i never have 8+1 on me. I will also carry an M&P (17+1) tactical and carry extra mags for her as well, to assume that just because the weapon only holds 8+1 does not mean that's all i have on me... reloads take about as long as firing one to two rounds(muscle memory kids). I love my 1911 and it is always in my carry rotation. oh and last time i went to the range i put over 300 rounds through the 1911 without a single issue, all it takes is a well maintained weapon and proper magazines not the cheap garbage.
but everything isn't about capacity when does someone get mugged by 20 people its just bullshit people have come up with saying you need more ammo maybe if your military or police but for someone with a carry permit not really
I agree with you, but thats why i carry the 1911, unless im trying to stop a mob hit there is no way any gun fight is going to take more than one mag regardless of the capacity. It was just for the "throw more bullets until you hit it" guys. I have personally witnessed a robbery that was thwarted by someone that was conceal carrying and he never had to shoot, the 3 yes THREE guys just turned and ran. (thats for those guys that think every thief is ready for a gun battle). Thank you Will and Yankee, keep carrying and keep safe
Yea, I agree. I just got a velvet lined hardwood case built for her, but as a gun guy it is hard to just let her sit. She shoots like a dream fits like a glove and has never been anything but reliable for me even with modern hollow point ammo, I use Hornady Critical Defense for carry ammo. But with the value of her going up I should retire her and pass her down to the boys at one time.
Reasons why I will never buy a Glock. Not saying its never happened but I have never heard of someones 1911 discharging because of a warped holster or a t-shirt caught in the trigger. I'll buy an M&P with an external safety before I ever carry a loaded glock.
Kaiser if you are sufficient with handling the gun, you should know to get a good holster and clear your shirt. You are using the exact same bs logic as the people knocking the 1911.
@@ZSmith-yy4lv ultimately it comes down to the shooter to maintain gun safety. Problem is most shooters think so highly of themselves without realizing they're one misfire away from being in walmart with a hole through their genitals. Glocks are drop safe, but they sure as shit aren't idiot proof lacking an external hammer and safety. It really would be better if they were at least double action.
The original 1911 design did not have a thumb safety. Browning considered the grip safety sufficient. It was the Cavalry Board that put in the requirement for the manual thumb safety. They were concerned that troopers were at risk of an ND while holding their horse's reins in one hand and the pistol in the other. The thumb safety is actually the backup safety. The cocked and locked manual arms became standard because you can't have a separate manual of arms for infantry and cavalry. It is perfectly safe to have a holstered 1911 with the thumb safety disengaged. I used to carry in condition 1 until I read the development history. Now, the only time I use the thumb safety is for administrative handling. When I rack the slide, which is where most NDs occur, I do not take a firing grip. The proper way to handle a 1911 or a pistol like Marko Vuckovic's HS2000/XD series is to only take a firing grip when you are going shoot the gun. A 1911 with the thumb safety disengaged is still a safer gun than a Glock or similar pistol.
First Great Video, I Carried a 1911 in Vietnam as a Tank Commander. It has incredible nock down power (45Cal) and can be abused beyond belief. Very reliable can't believe the Army moved away from it. I wish and tried finding mine from NAM no success. Even if I didn't kill the enemy first shot when they got hit they new it and was stunned… it gave me a second chance to make correction
I talked to a Marine vet from Afghanistan, who told me his 1911 never failed him in the environment where sand got into everything. What did jam on him was the m9 Beretta 9 mm. He said the 1911 was the ak of pistols in terms of reliability in the harshest conditions. His words not mine
I have many different pistols. My 1911 is one of my favorite and I have never had any issues with it. I love my Glock 19! Never had a problem with it. I have and do trust my life to the 1911, and many others. But I am a gun enthusiast and I practice 3-4 days a week. It's all personal preference and what you are comfortable with. And train.. and find different instructors to train with! The more knowledge you have, the better you become.
I’m sorry to hear that all the Military people you know hate it, but let’s be honest those guys were probably cooks or some other pog’s. They forget that we used it in the army from 1911 to 1985, and then they decided the bullshit beretta would be a good idea. Not to mention I’m pretty sure the marines still use the 1911, and to the best of my knowledge some spec ops guys use it because they can pick their side arm. I just bought a Kimber and I shot it for the first time today, and even though I like my polymer guns I would probably shoot my 1911 over them. They just feel so clean. Anyway great video.
you are correct sir they are still used by the military's. Don't know that I would call the berretta junk (have fired them don't own one) but I do prefer the .45 1911, my EDC is a poly 9mm or .40 G2C I bought both.
Roger Hancock, my experience with them is they are junk now I will say this though most of the beretta I used were heavily used so that has to factor in. I do know people that swear by them though. My reasoning for not liking the m9 is the fact it’s a foreign gun, and the one I have shot jammed a lot, not to mention I don’t like the open slide because one time I remember debris getting in there locking up my slide during a stress fire. I know there are huge beretta fans out there but the m9 to me is not one of the best.
I've been into Colt 1911 Pistols for 45+ years. It's only been within the last decade that I've bought anything but a Colt 1911. My Colts are dependable firearms and I want to get dependable shots out of them. I believe that Quality in equals Quality out includes your training, magazines and your ammunition. Capacity problem? I carry in Condition One plus I carry two extra magazines. Plus I carry a Colt Mustang as my backup. If that doesn't get the job done, well I guess I should have carried my M4 Carbine.
Personally, I hated the 1911 because of all the negative things I heard about them in the past. Most recently I decided to rent one at the range and play around with it. Honestly, I fell in love after the first few shots. I shot it better than my 40 and Glocks. Now I'm looking to getting a few into my collection. The accuracy and trigger is on point.
I started out with Colts back in the 70s and then after trying the new comers, but always having one of Springfield Armories Gov't Models, Mil Spec or, and now the Range Officer around, have stayed with the SA guns for their absolute reliability and accuracy. They have proven to be rugged and dependable to my standards both in and out of LE. I came in under Col. Cooper and Jack Weaver and Richard Culver in the realm of the 1911 as well as a few others who are local and highly skilled but not as well known. I learned that the 1911 does not need all the after market crap that is out there....... save but for good sights, a decent trigger and a decent pair of stocks and a reliability job. My current SARO has provided many 3 shot clusters at 50 yards when I have taken the time to execute the shots from a proper test position for accuracy. This pistol has yet to malfunction! It cycles factory and handload with equal ease. I will be the first to admit that the 1911 is perhaps not everyone's cup of tea! But for anyone who is willing to train with what is essentially a Master's pistol, it will serve you well and serve you well when ever you call upon her to do so. I have never felt that I did not have enough rounds with 8 or 9 in my 1911s, nor do I feel ill-armed with a 6 shot da revolver. I trained as a Gun Fighter under the rule of gun fighting as a Martial Art when training the mind to fight first, then the body was how it was done. Gun Fighting therefore is Not the state of and Art. It IS the state of a MIND! They don't train that way now days, its "pass/fail" and no real standards. We preach not to allow our pistols to point at anything that we do not wish to destroy, and we see people teaching others to stuff the pistol down the front of their pants, pointing the piece right at the femerol arteries and privates like accidental discharges never happen and Murphy's Law doesn't even exist anymore..... We knew the right ways and tried to pass them down...... Snowflakes, Television and damned fools have taken over and the carnage should be starting any time now!
Thanks Yankee Cowboy Retired US Army from Vietnam era to way past Desert Storm. I carried one from time to time. The ones i fired were standard US Army issue, all of them old as dirt, and very reliable, stock, and issue. I own one now. I consider it the perfect home protection device. Big fat slug, intimidating to have it pointed at you. A little girl, holding a M1911 is a force to be reckoned with. Peace, will always respect the legacy of the M1911, and I am even married to a Philippines wife who is from Mindanao and she speaks the dialect of the Moros who were the tribe the Design was inspired to defend against. She is actually quite peaceful. And she is a graduate of Morowai State University, Morowai City. I always fired expert, but I grew up on a farm and I think it gave me an edge. God Bless.
I like your nick... "yankee cowboy", have no idea where you are from, but if you are a Yankee, and a cowboy, perhaps you are in the mold of Teddy Roosevelt, who thought of himself as a cowboy and scared the daylights out of the Republicans. Ha ha!! Hopefully you have better eye sight. Peace to you!
You make a really good point there, the illiteracy and unfounded statements really make for a good argument. My 1911 has malfunctioned before, but my XDS (glock copy) never has.
My EDC is a sig 1911 and I that I don't understand the concern that some ppl have with the thumb saftey. It's my experience that if you drawn the weapon correctly you automatically disengage the saftey; I mean it's such a natural motion on the drawn that I don't see how you could miss saftey. The one thing that I do disagree with you is that I can image several scenarios where you might need more than 3 or 4 rounds in a defensive situations and you can too if you don't limit yourself to just the bad guy that break in your house or the car jacker scenario.
I respectfully disagree with you once again, there are plently of youtube videos where a good guy successfully defends himself against 2, 3 or more bad guys. In today's world image some situations where you might need more than 8 + 1. Do you carry an extra mag or is that just simply over kill as far as you're concerned you?. When not carrying my 1911, it's a sig 226 with 15 + 1 and a extra mag, so even though I prefer a higher round capacity I carry the 1911 because the accuracy, reliability, stopping power, combat proven all these attributesl comes together in that platform. And, another thing, because of the condition that I choose to carry the 1911, no weapon can get round off faster. (no extra time disengaging the thumb safetly)
Charles X I carry a sig p320 with ten round mag because that's all my state allows us to carry, and yes I carry two spare Mags. I just want to get my self and family to safety at that point and I think I have enough training and firepower to do so.
1yankeecowboy that sounds like a good plan to me, and sorry about the ten round mag limitation. I look forward to the day when everybody can fully exercise their (God given) 2nd Amendment rights.
A Glock seems a little too pussified for me. I can rely on my Colt Government to get the job done. If you run out of rounds, you can beat Hell out of someone with a Colt.
Well I guess all of those spec ops guys who prefer Glocks are "pussified" then? Lol. Dude, take your ego out of the equation. These are tools, nothing more.
David Clark When you run out of rounds, Glock still have more. Good luck out running a bullet trying to beat someone with your manly-man gun. :) 1911 cult is a big joke.
I got 3 bul m5 1911's, My commander is chambered in 9mm and has a double stack magazine which holds 18 rounds+1, this is my edc, then I have a goverment model which is also chambered in 9mm This is my favored pistol, as it has very little recoil and has a singe stack magazine which holds 10 +1 rounds, I just cant miss with this pistol. My last bul m5 is chambered in .45 acp this is also a double stack pistol which carry's 16 .45 ACP round in the mag. The bul M5 is manufactured in isreal, which makes this a very good gun in my opinion as they been at war since the beginning of time, they also supply springfield armory with frames. I have small hands and this was the best suited pistol I could find. I which people would stick to what they know.... Its always about single stack round count ect, recoil, and jams. I have put more than 7000 rounds trough my commander and it still preforms flawlessly without any service, The only thing I replaced every 6 months is the mag springs.
@Philip Freeman you obviously haven't held a double stack polymer 1911. But I concurr i carry a glock 19 clone as my every day carry. You're speaking from your time. These people are speaking from their time. The 1911 is still and will for a long time to come be the best. But the original 1911 A1 GI not these holster queens you see on this video. The tolerances make it dead reliable. And far superior in accuracy to a floating barrel glock made out of McDonald's plastic. You simply had to trust your glock and its all you know so naturally you'll like anything that is or is like a glock. If you saw any action at all or ever discharged your firearm in the line of duty you'll know that glocks are fine. But when shit hits the fan and someone shooting back at you and you need on target reliable lead to save your life. Well just grab a glock and limp wrist it a few rounds. See how that goes. Now imagine you pull your gun on a felony stop and because you do it every felony stop you have a relaxed grip like not knowing you'll have to use it when the driver jumps out with an ak or ar because your job isn't dangerous whatsoever and the little bit that is dangerous is caused my your "brothers" actions angering the citizens. You'll find out how reliable the glock is. 7 rounds as accurate as a 1911 is. Is 7 rounds too many. Because the guys heart is gone after the first round. If not and your 10 extra mags on your plate carrier isn't enough. Well you probably deserve what happens to you
All very true. I had a Colt 1911 that I fired 980 rounds through non-stop out of the box and only had two failures because of off-brand cheap magazines. If it's too heavy, lift weights like you're suppose too. I carried a Colt 1911 in several theaters of operations and never had a problem. Then again, I've been trained on it since I was 12 and now I'm fifty.
Ive always been around guns and when I saw my first glock I just couldnt wrap my head around it. it was like two blocks glued together. I prefer the cz 75/85 styles and the 1911 styles. and I see a lot of 45acp comments, there is the nice thing... that is an caliber argument not a firearm arguement. you can get 1911 style guns in many calibers. I d prefer double stacks myself, and mine carries 17 rounds of 9mm (not a 1911) but I HATE striker fire. I like one in the pipe but would rather pull the hammer back on the draw and extend. if I am hot on a striker fire it is hot till you rack it back with the mag clear. I dont feel safe picking up a handgun that is that close to firing. you grab it wrong in haste and you have a round going somewhere. with my hammer down I know I can grab it more assuredly and put it ready as soon as my hand has purchase of the firearm. now for my 9mm reason. yes 10 rounds should put someone down, but say you have more attackers or the firefight is in a way you will have misses (anything that does not drop your target even if you impact the bad guy). I have 7+1 more chances. to take out more bad guys. the number extends even more with each mag you carry.
WRT your 1911 "rant" video - I think you made some really good points, and as a new 1911 owner, I learned from them (esp wrt to proper use of the safety). This really is a very neat pistol, but it requires a little more of a learning curve than the "modern" design pistols, and I think that should be understood by anyone thinking about aquiring one. Know that when you need to work for something, you usually end up appreciating it more than something else that came too easily.
More round capacity? You can't miss fast or often enough to save your life. Clint Smith doesn't care if you show up at his school with a revolver or pistol. He likes revolvers and 1911s as much as he likes Glocks because it's the first rounds that count and none of us are going to war with our handguns. He likes to say he'd rather the average Glock owner shoot at him than some guy who shows up at his school with a beat up and well used magnum revolver made in the 80s he's been shooting and carrying every day.
I love my Springfield compact 45 R/O. The two things i want to do to it is amby safety and expended slide pin. I'm a lefty. Yours is awesome. Great job on the build
While I was active duty infantry we trained on kicking the safety off as we raised the weapon to high ready and shot; as soon as we squeezed off rounds, we kicked the safety right back on. It became second nature and something you eventually don't even think about. The bottom line is train with the safety! No excuses for safety getting in the way!!
Let's put the entire argument to bed. The 1911 is a design by John M. Browning. Although Glock uses polymer frames and striker to fire rounds the principal of the short recoil design it uses and utilizes was invented by John M. Browning. Like it or not the 1911 would not exists without John Browning nor would the Glock. The only thing Gaston Glock really did to revolutionize firearms was using a polymer frame and proving it would work when everyone else said it would not. However there has never really been a gun engineer who understood and made the strides John Browning did which is why his name stands out long after his death. This whole argument is fueled by gun companies themselves for using marketing terms such as "man stopper" and "peacemaker" (yes I am talking to you Colt) which led the public to wanting the best available when no such gun actually exists and it has been done by them time and time again. Every gun has a dud and someone will get a failure regardless of design. Just like what you like no need to get bend out of shape if someone else does not agree. The 1911's service life gives it credibility but the Glocks reliability and ease of use and lack of a thumb safety gives it somewhat an edge. The comparisons could be endless such as the 1911's trigger vs the Glock trigger everyone in the world knows the 1911 wins that hands down but again the Glock has no external hammer to get shit in. Both are fantastic guns for different reasons. If you do not own a Glock and swear by the 1911 it will make you feel better that if you buy one you are buying a gun that still utilizes a John Browning invention. If you like Glocks and do not own a 1911 it will make you feel better buying it just to get a feel for a gun designed by the man who invented the operating system your gun uses. Jesus they are guns don't every gun owner want like every gun ever invented or is that just me?
Aw Snap LOL GOTTA GO GET A 1911 NOW BRO. I was watching these videos trying to figure out why I should get one. They look so sexy... I’m a revolver guy but I carry a Glock. I’m in the Army idc about how the shit shoots 🤣as long as it can fucking shoot
I LOVE the 1911. It will always be my first selection. I will be buried with a 1911. The 1911 pretty much helped us win world war 2. Jim Browning is the man.
Anonymous1, Sorry to hear. Someone you care about would surely love to have that 1911, to have and Remember you by. More than likely, the Undertaker or one of his employees will slip it out of your cold clasp and none will be the wiser. If you're planning to go to Hell, take plenty of ammo. Going to Heaven, you'll be assigned Golden Gate Duty ...
Damn! This guy said the guns were clear! The Sig has a loaded mag in it check at 8:58. He pulls it out and shows it, it is loaded with hollow points! that is not safe!!! that's too bad he has a good point. I love 1911. I have 2 and love them. I agree with him on most of the rest of what he says! but that gun is not SAFE! it is loaded. sorry Not trying to bag on this guy. Just pointing out the obvious.
Ya, I know no one has ever been shot through youtube :) After I posted it I figured it was probably redundant. You were probably already receiving all kinds of hate mail and death threats. This being on the internet and all.
Another comment or two. First of all..good job. Info delivery was good. I am a newer 1911 owner. I carry an ATI Titan and from all reviews I've seen including hickock45 I have no reason to regret the purchase. I only have a few hundred rounds through it but the feel is hard to beat along with its looks ( like any 1911). The casings eject up and straight back but you may have answered that minor issue. I do not carry " cocked and locked" as I am just uncomfortable with that. When drawing, my thumb automatically cocks the hammer with my trigger finger naturally going to the trigger. All of this now takes less than 1 second. Shooting at 20 yards yields accurate groups... now. I agree with you completely. Get to know your gun. Get so the grip, feel, and aim are second nature and don't quit practicing regularly. Again, great video. Thanks for your passion. Central Lower Michigan
I hold my thumb underneath never accidentally in gaged the safety. But I'll practice with my thumb over the safety just to get the feel of it. And mags I use pro mags they run really good on my RIA. Great video informative. And agree on the AMMO really like the golden sabers 185 +p the hollow point are not as open and chamber nice. 👍🏽👍🏽
How can anyone hate on a 1911, they are all just jealous of the trigger, the natural way it points, the fact it's a timeless classic, nearly indestructible, accurate, powerful, RELIABLE, easy to maintain.........................
Amen, i concur with your views on handling your 1911, train yourself on the 1911 until it becomes second nature. 🗨️😎 P.S. You did a fine job on the proper handling and function of the 1911 in my humble opinion. 🗨️😶
I have an old heavy all metal Llama 1911 in good condition that i only paid $90 for about 30 years ago and runs well. I'll never sell it. The handle has a very nice thumb groove that's much more comfortable than putting my thumb up on the safety which i don't use anyways. It already has two other safeties on it.....#1 Hammer cocked and hammer un-cocked. #2 Safety switch on the handle pushed in or not. So i don't need to fart around with "third" safety. Also the edge of the thumb safe is quite sharp and not comfortable at all (for me) and I'm worried that when the gun is fired the cycling of the carriage will rub the hell out of the inside of my thumb because, like in your demo, it's in direct contact of the weapon's carriage. I'm pretty sure after running several dozens rounds thru it you're gonna have a blister on the inside of your thumb. Your comment about your thumb accidentally pushing on the safety via kickback is just silly. Never happened to me in 30 years. I have a fairly good grip on the handle when it's being fired like most of us. It's in the thumb groove and doesn't move at all. You should be old enough to realize people are going to have their own opinions no matter how you feel. No need to get yourself all upset and "pissed off" about it. You sound like a "Can't Understand Normal Thinking" Don't sweat the small stuff, it's all small stuff. Get some perspective mate!!!! LOL!!!!
I am 81 & been in the Mil. 24 yrs. 3 branches. 1911 is & always been my favorite from early 20's with my first! My second 1911 was a Gold Cup, to let you know how along it was , the price NIB w/2 mags was $235.00 ! You could also find in stores model 37 Winchesters for 35.00 . Got 1 w/ tag on it w/price on it. It was Maple wood , that I refinished & was the prettiest thing I ever saw besides my Gold Cup. Love everything about them. Shot them in Competition for 20 yrs. & I am a Master class NRA shooter . Had many different makes. Love my Colts & SIG's !!!!
I carried a 1911 in the army, I have carried a 1911 in my civilian life for 30 years. Never had a problem with it. Great video. Yes it is awesome a platform. Thank you.
+A2DuhBee Yes, typical internet bullshit quote. You see, talk is cheap when standing on a static range punshing paper, see how good you are on a 2 way range with fine motorskills out the window and fight or flight response kicking your ass into an OODA loop. Tell it to the old man in Garland that shot those 2 terrorists after they shot the cop. He shot to emergency reload and shot to slidelock again, stopping those fuckers. Guess he sucked and shouldn't have carried huh? What was he thinking ventilating terrorists with 34 rounds.......oh, that's right they wore bodyarmor. Who dun thought that. There's the crux of the matter, when dynamics change and violence or death are imminent you shoot till the threat is down, no matter how many cartridges that might take.
Myself personally. I love the platform. You're right.. If you don't understand one or are not familiar with it you're not going to get it. Also the magazine is critical. I bought a Springfield TRP a few years ago and have never used the mags that came with it. I been running Wilson 47-D with no issues. The pistol was meant to carry condition one. I get pissed from people trash talking the 1911 myself. A fine tuned 1911 is a beautiful thing. The trigger says it all. The grip is fantastic.
Because whenever something new comes along, people will pretend that just because it's new, it's automatically better. And that simply is not true. And Glock fanboys do just that. Just because a Glock weighs next to nothing and holds more rounds, it's better than a heavy 1911 that only holds 8 rounds and that's BS.
I love my National Match Colt 1911 Mk4 series 70 , 10 rounds 5&5 100 yards in A 22cal target I could see the 45 rounds going down range, I held about 10” high
I'm an old Marine. The 1911 was my original issue. I've owned a lot of different firearms in my lifetime. The 1911 is still my go to carry gun. You are spot on, if you know how to run it, there is nothing better.
Semper Fi
Semper Fidelis.
Who ever hates 1911s can hand them over to the rest of us who do love them.
1911tard!
Strongly agree 😂😂😂
Give me your 1911 I'll respect it!!!
I don't think you'll get ANY takers
Facts! I love my Rock Island 1911 .45cal
I have carried the same 1911 since 1967. Has always gone BANG when I wanted it to.
Clean it, oil it, shoot it.
P.S. clean your magazines!!!
1911. It's like a Glock but for men.
thank you sir
it's like glock but for men.....who like inefficient handguns
NEVER HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY 1911. ALWAYS TIGHT GROUPS ANY ALL DISTANCES NEVER HAD ANY MISFIRES IN 30 YEARS
+mikewalsh03 never miss fired any of my guns ever, but we all know people who are hellbent on defending their 1911 just like the .45 because it is the same size as their dicks
lol
The best gun is the one you’re comfortable with!!! 1911 Texan 🔫
Don't forget the biggest advantage of an all steel 1911. If you miss you can beat them to death with the gun.
True
A 5906 for some reason makes a better club than a 1911 when it runs out of ammo. Just saying
You would probably break a perpetrator's skull if you bash a 1911 into his coconut.
@@bernardtan1 in the words of another TH-camr: He'd get his wig split. Whatever you do, don't bust the perpetrator's cheeks

Why carry a pocket knife when you can carry a boot knife?
Cause I don't wear boots anymore.
The 1911 was designed for a time when men needed tools to do a job, it was designed for fighting. It was designed to do a job and to do that job well.
DezDies antique is what it is. It still has the design limitations of the last century holding it down
+Shit House Rat I'm just curious into what you mean when you say it has design limitations? could you expand upon this topic.
The 1911 is my favorite handgun.
Even the history is bad ass.
I love 1911's and Glocks, safe full of both. Carry what you like and forget about the BS
Jeremy Woodall preach on my brother!
Too right man
I’m not a glock fan I’m sig and kimber, but like you said carry what you like and what fits you, so keep on carrying your glock and stay safe my fellow firearm loving friend.
If 8 rounds from a .45 won't solve your problem, your problem can't be solved.
Damn right you are sir! LMAO! 👍😂
problem... you have 9 zombies running at you and you only have 8 rounds. solution 17 round Glock... bigger isn't always better.
+Chris Halligan i have extended mag with 10 rounds 😉
18 zombies.....just RELOAD
3:38 "all these guns are clear, there is nothing in the mag, nothing in the chamber".

Neutron Alchemist. I thought I was hallucinating. Glad you mentioned that as well
Saw that too. Not good.
Its ok, he cant shoot ya
No kidding!! Scary!!!
Accident waiting to happen.
Ozark Ed I want a 1911 because...well...its a 1911. Same reason I have a Mosin and want a Garand, K98k, M14, AK-whatever, etc.
your exactly right john connor, what did the 1911 shooter say to the burglar after his last 8th round?? ILL B BAK!!!!
Exactly. All these 1911 comments are giving me cancer.
1911 is a legendary weapon, designed by a genius. More than 110 years since it was conceived it is still relevant. It is my favorite gun.
Loved 1911 since a kid my daddy brought one home from ww11 my uncle asked my daddy did he steal the gun from the military he said I felt like I earned it .
Absolutely. Great story
Billy Guilbert my dad was a gun collector and competition shooter. Him and I would shoot 1911. When i was a teenager he and I shot Gold Cups
Hell yeah he earned it My uncle came home from Vietnam when it was over with no weapons and got spit on harassed and threatened total BS
Definitely earned it
I saw this copy pasted in another 1911 video.
they have some 1911's that have double stacks magazines. so the argument that they don't hold enough ammo is bs.
I have a Colt and 2 RIA double stacks. All 3 work great. The crying about too wide a grip, waaaaa. I also shoot Ruger SBHs in 44mag large grip too. I have small hands and have zero issues with the grips.
If they learn to shoot and hit their target they dont need more than 8 shots. If you do, hell I can change mags faster than you can kiss a duck....
My 2 cents on the "If you can't hit someone with 8 rounds you shouldn't have a gun."
This is totally true.
He carried his revolver for years and never changed the ammo in the cylinder, he pulled his gun a few times, but never had to use it.
hate a .45?? not me I always have carried one sence Vietnam as far as I'm concerned it's the the best combat pistol ever made
Yeah until it get some mud on it then U be fukd best combat pistol ever made hahahaha no it's a good range pistol but I won't say combat I've heard from nam viets who seen action laying in mud walking threw a swamp dat really fukd up any chance of useing it to defend yourself even wen they look clean U can't trust it to feed a clip and soldiers that went down rat tunnels had issues if they came up against a ak47 down there best thing to do was turn off the touch and gtfo if mud got on it a hard weapon to keep clean

I look up to you guys, thank you for your service
my buddy is same way.17 year navy vet and carriers 2 19 11 in a custom dual vertical shoulder harness.Hes like 6'4 275 so weight for everyday carry isn't a problem for him.He doesn't shoot two at once either it's for whatever side is best and always wears a colmbia or similiar light full sleeve shirt/thin light over shirt.Looks like a beast but actually is really profitiant with either hand.Hes one of my good buddies a little older than me but a wealth of knowledge and experience.
The 1911 is and always will be the finest handgun Period! End of story.
Sam Adler
I carried a old Remington rand 1911 in the service, it was world war two era and it was an awesome pistol, it performed flawlessly and shot really well, now I carry a officers model. and your very correct about buying a good magazine
Thank you bro. "If you need more than 8 shots of .45 acp to stop your attacker, you don't need to have a gun" facts
I almost agree there's cases where bad guy hopped up on pcp has taken 30/40 shots and still shooting at police. Finally stopped with a 12ga slug to the spine
To stop him. And that was with pretty
Much every handgun caliber 9mm 40 45 etc. Handgun doesn't have a true stopping power. I've heard if a 45 hits you in the finger it will knock you down. I have serious doubts.
Okay so everyone has one attacker? Multiple attackers is not a thing ever?
@@rustyjames2202 bro don’t you know if you carry a 2 inch snubby or a 1911 you can overcome adrenaline, and druggies don’t exist. Also you just hit them with the one shot they instantly die . It’s all fudd nonsense. 9mm and 45 have almost identical wound channels and I have seen many body cam videos of people eating 9,10,11 shots the the chest and still fight .
@@Dcm193 Lol
I'm not very accurate with a pistol, but I can use most. I started off with a flock. Didn't like it. 1911 like it.
OCTurboJoe Good point. I learned to shoot with a 1911.
It's truly a thing of beauty. I have one in .40 caliber that packs 16 rounds.
One day I will get and old school colt in .45 just to collect.
@Philip Freeman I think it was Issac Newton's theory that you were referring to, not Einstein's.
They make 1911 that have hi cap bro!
Para makes a variety of double stack mags
ricfly52 taurus isnt the most reliable, if i were you id buy a sig or a Springfield, not knocking your load out but taurus 1911 scare me, they make great durable .44 magnums though for some reason they are the best cheap .44 magnums around, its not a ruger or a s&w but its a good revolver
ricfly52 another really good gun is a 9mm sti guardian, lightweight, very fluid curves and high capacity
Excellent Review! I Love the 1911
Amir Harris thanks
Same here, love the 1911 platform.
@@yankeecowboy Here Here... I have one for each hand 👍
1911 is for men glocks are for play boys
I sleep better knowing that.
louis Staiano there are so many amazing 10mm 1911s on the market.
Nah
Only a cheap New Orleans pimp would carry a pearl handled revolver. --Gen George S Patton
PS.
+Lough Sun thanks
1yankeecowboy Keep up the good work on the vids. We may not always agree but I do love the work that you do. Your an asset to the gun community.
Guy: All these guns are cleared.
Also Guy: *shows magazine full of hollow points*
@Dana Frost. You do know that in order for the 1911 to fire or any gun,you have to chamber a round, especially the 1911 the 1911 has to be loaded, thumb safety off and grip safety depressed. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
It was either an oversight, or it was cheeky, thumbing his nose at the people who just can't bear the sight of a loaded gun.
1911 are the best guns ever
I was a Glock man but once I held 1911 I fell in love with it And they have an awesome trigger
1911 is the best automatic pistol for the last 105 years..
^^^
I bought my first 1911 last year. now I want to trade in every gun I have for 1911s! Why would anyone buy anything else!?!?!
Higher capacity, no safety, lighter weight, cheaper cost and just as reliable.
"just as reliable."
...If not even more (in dirty conditions)
***** I think 1911 fans take it way to personal if some one has a distaste for the weapon. My favorite 45 pistol is my old Ruger P345 it is the only 45 that I will carry. Not many people like that gun, or even remember it's existence. I like it though heck I love. Because it works for me, and it only has 8+1 as capacity. I only carry it now and then for sentimental reasons. I own 1911 for patriotic reason and they are just gorgeous as hell. Yet, I'm not going to choose to use one for self defense. It's just my choice.
Lough Sun you drive a prius, I'll take the '69 Chevelle.
Chevelle is better. 1911 is better.
Thank you Will and Yankee, keep carrying and keep safe
holy smokes! 103 years old. put that thing in a display case. she has earned her retirement
But with the value of her going up I should retire her and pass her down to the boys at one time.
well said
For over 50 years I was taught Cocked and Locked, any questions? That was both the military and police policy.
Reasons why I will never buy a Glock. Not saying its never happened but I have never heard of someones 1911 discharging because of a warped holster or a t-shirt caught in the trigger.
I'll buy an M&P with an external safety before I ever carry a loaded glock.
Kaiser cool
Kaiser if you are sufficient with handling the gun, you should know to get a good holster and clear your shirt. You are using the exact same bs logic as the people knocking the 1911.
Kind of the only option with a single action pistol.
A 1911 with the thumb safety disengaged is still a safer gun than a Glock or similar pistol.
shoot what you're comfortable with
Shoot what you have or can afford to buy. 😁
Thank you for your service!
I talked to a Marine vet from Afghanistan, who told me his 1911 never failed him in the environment where sand got into everything. What did jam on him was the m9 Beretta 9 mm. He said the 1911 was the ak of pistols in terms of reliability in the harshest conditions. His words not mine
thanks for sharing the story maybe some people will read this.
Lots of people follow...easier than thinking for yourself !
@Talkin Bout Nawlins i'm glad i own a 1911 that my dad passed to me, i never thought it was safer than a glock.
True. The M1911 saved lives. And more reliable due to the better materials and easy to clean when you take it out apart.
remington makes one
I carried a 1911 in the Army for 5 yrs and I loved it so much that my EDC is a 1911 Officers model. I own four 1911's in various sizes.
you are correct sir they are still used by the military's.
I know there are huge beretta fans out there but the m9 to me is not one of the best.
love the 1911, great weapon! there was a reason it was the military service weapon for such a long time!
The 1911 is one of the nicest auto pistols to fire imho.
same her Buddy
I love the 1911, carried it for years as my sidearm and it never let me down.
God Bless.
thanks for sharing your story and most of all thank you for your service!
God bless you sir
I like your nick... "yankee cowboy", have no idea where you are from, but if you are a Yankee, and a cowboy, perhaps you are in the mold of Teddy Roosevelt, who thought of himself as a cowboy and scared the daylights out of the Republicans. Ha ha!! Hopefully you have better eye sight. Peace to you!
+johnny ray I might have to do a video on were the name comes from.
I will watch it! It has me intrigued.
johnny ray, it's Marawi City. God bless
1911 a Shootist's Gun.....Glocks are Idiot Proof for a reason. 1911 has never let me down in over 50 years. Never owned a Glock.
Then you have no reason to speak about them.
Rory Gibbons glovks are for pussys
You make a really good point there, the illiteracy and unfounded statements really make for a good argument. My 1911 has malfunctioned before, but my XDS (glock copy) never has.
Not really Roy. Glock's big guns; the G20 10 mm and the G21 45 acp are man stoppers. High round capacity too.
Oh, I left out the Glock 22 Full 40 mm. The chosen police carry.
Your "ramble", as you call it, is more informative than 100 of other videos on 1911s out there. Thanks.
thank you
My EDC is a sig 1911 and I that I don't understand the concern that some ppl have with the thumb saftey. It's my experience that if you drawn the weapon correctly you automatically disengage the saftey; I mean it's such a natural motion
on the drawn that I don't see how you could miss saftey. The one thing that I do disagree with you is that I can image several scenarios where you might need more than 3 or 4 rounds in a defensive situations and you can too if you don't limit yourself to just the bad guy that break in your house or the car jacker scenario.
Charles X I hear ya but in those situations no amount of ammo would be enough.
Thanks for agreeing and watching.
Charles X yes me to because it's hard to find Mags that are only ten round.
David Clark be the ultimate man and carry a six shot 357 magnum, preferably a S&W 686 with a 4 inch barrel.
David Clark or reload
I was introduced to the 1911 in the military. I love them, and I've owned one for over 40 years. Great gun.
I'll trust my life to a 1911 everyday and I'm alive
Well you probably deserve what happens to you
Who gives a damn about the safety sallies! The guy knew the damn magazine was loaded.
Then why did he start out by saying, "all these guns are cleared"?
Because the gun was actually cleared. Not the mag! Oh my GOSH! HE COULD HAVE SHOT ME THROUGH THE INTERNET! Glocktards!!!!
Always carry a spare magazine; 2 is better. You might not be facing a single threat.
I carry 1 in ,6 spare if there is multiple threats. ! 57 pretty fast if needed
He likes to say he'd rather the average Glock owner shoot at him than some guy who shows up at his school with a beat up and well used magnum revolver made in the 80s he's been shooting and carrying every day.
i love my 1911
Yeah they look cool anyway!
I love my Springfield compact 45 R/O. The two things i want to do to it is amby safety and expended slide pin. I'm a lefty. Yours is awesome. Great job on the build
As a brit, I love the look of this gun!
You know, even my Colt from 1917 (will be 100 in March) still shoots 2-3" at 25 yards.
Jesus they are guns don't every gun owner want like every gun ever invented or is that just me?
evilcowboy Just FYI HK invented the first polymer gun the Vp 70 way before Gaston Glock got the idea.
ive posted this many times. guys who hate the 1911 are the same guys who hate women and prefer men...starting with james yeager
Haha
Aw Snap LOL GOTTA GO GET A 1911 NOW BRO. I was watching these videos trying to figure out why I should get one. They look so sexy... I’m a revolver guy but I carry a Glock. I’m in the Army idc about how the shit shoots 🤣as long as it can fucking shoot
I love my Colt, Custom Shop, Series '80, Mark IV, Government Model!! All the goodies! Tried & True!! Thank You, John Moses Browning!!
I LOVE the 1911. It will always be my first selection. I will be buried with a 1911. The 1911 pretty much helped us win world war 2. Jim Browning is the man.
Anonymous1,
Sorry to hear.
Just pointing out the obvious.
also his finger is on the trigger as he's taking off the safety
nothing in chamber loaded mag yes but gun can't go off unless you pull trigger. catching hell for this from allot of people but I know I was safe.
+E BS thanks my friend
+Keith Myers It's only a movie.
If I hold my rock island 1911 like that, my thump gets skinned by the slide serrations. that's a no go.
That's what I was thinking about my S.A. Mil-spec too. Good thing is the safety is so stiff that's it's hard to engage even on purpose.
Wear gloves, or practice more. When protecting your life, skinned thumbs are the least of your worries.
RMLEE77 i fire 45 acp and ima kid. Dunno with the skinned thumb tho
How can anyone hate on a 1911, they are all just jealous of the trigger, the natural way it points, the fact it's a timeless classic, nearly indestructible, accurate, powerful, RELIABLE, easy to maintain.........................
Deep Pockets You forgot it’s a beautiful gun and the best gun designer of all time John Browning invented it.
Amen, i concur with your views on handling your 1911, train yourself on the 1911 until it becomes second nature. 🗨️😎
P.S.
LOL!!!!
90 bucks and it will probably still shoot when your great grandkids carry it.
@@playerzero2236 No doubt...thanks.
"polymer 1911" ugh...... sickening.
I love 1911. It's The Original Mans Gun.
And it's time to move on.
I carried a 1911 in the army, I have carried a 1911 in my civilian life for 30 years. Never had a problem with it. Great video. Yes it is awesome a platform. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Hahaha "if you need more than 9 rounds you probably shouldn't be carrying cuz you suck." Good video 👍
thanks for watching.

Yes, typical internet bullshit quote.
+BBKnls very true
1911 Hated ? I thought it was actually massively revered as one of the best .45 guns ever
The grip is fantastic.
couldn't agree more
Anybody doesn't like the 1911 they don't know diddly squat about weapons.
This is what I know. 1911's where the top dog gun for a long time. They aren't now!!
Why can't people love both 1911 and Glock.
You can I own both people just love to fight over useless things
Hahah. Can’t we all just get along?
Because whenever something new comes along, people will pretend that just because it's new, it's automatically better. And that simply is not true. And Glock fanboys do just that. Just because a Glock weighs next to nothing and holds more rounds, it's better than a heavy 1911 that only holds 8 rounds and that's BS.
I love my National Match Colt 1911 Mk4 series 70 , 10 rounds 5&5 100 yards in A 22cal target I could see the 45 rounds going down range, I held about 10” high
been packing a 1911 for many yrs and wouldnt pack anything else
Irish Bastard glad to hear it!
Thanks for watching
