    This game is my first proper foray into the DQ series. I haven't quite finished the game, but I have definitely fallen in love with it. The world, the characters, the music, all of it. It's truly terrific. This music almost took my breath away the first time I heard it. The way it swells, the sweeping melody make it sound like some romantic moment from an epic film. It's sublime.

      I know what you mean, dragon quest 11 was such a great friend at the time I played it, amazing game. One of the best RPGs I’ve ever played, one of the best games in general!! It was as close to perfect as an rpg can get. Everything was done right. And it was there for me too when dealing with some terrible mental/physical stuff as well. I have such a fondness when looking back on it, so strange isn’t it!

They’re all good of course- but I just chose those two because they have a similar charm, but they all have that great charm to some degree! Dragon quest builders 1&2 are also really fun. Yes I’m doing better thank you for asking! I actually was beginning to do better when starting that game but I needed time to stay home and heal at that time and that game was there for me at a time when I was just staying home pretty much 24/7, I wish I could forget the game and play it again! • @Fauntleroy.
    @Fauntleroy. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    This is so... wow. This is the most sweeping, grandest, most romantic, most emotionally-charged piece. It would fit as the perfect love theme from an epic tale of struggle and war and loss and ultimate redemption. And yet, it's just the boat music from Dragon Quest XI.

    • @wowomah6194
      @wowomah6194 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      But it's not just the music for sea travel. You see, the overworld music of this game is mean to tie the whole story together. It tells you how you should feel as you travel the world and connects the dots of your adventures together into one cohesive storyline. The overland music is perhaps the most important for this reason: it isn't just telling you the story of you traveling the waves, it's the guiding hand of the entire game that unifies it into a singular vision of your adventure. It captures the highs and lows and mystery and romance and fear and glory of it ALL.
      So you're right, it is in fact telling that story of struggle and battle and ultimate redemption! It very much intends to tell that story rather than merely a story about you happening to be traveling by boat. For, why are you on the boat in the first place? Well because YOU MUST get on the boat in order to progress upon your adventure and fulfill your destiny! And so the boat is a vehicle in more than one way, yes it's a vehicle in the mundane sense that it transports you physically to and fro, but the boat is also serving the purpose of propelling you forward in your adventure and your moments of travel whether on boat or by foot or horse in this game, serve as something like what you call a "leit motif" that repeats itself and consolidates the emotions of your journey thus far. It immerses you into the world in such a way that the adventures you have gone on in the game start to take on real and true emotion as if you have truly done those things and you're there with the adventuring party yourself.
      If you remember one thing about music in your life, remember this: "traveling music is never JUST traveling music". Music is always communicating something to you about where you are, who you are, why you are, and where you want to go. The very act of creating music is of trying to capture lightning in a bottle where in the case of humans, the lightning is our sense of meaning and perception of reality itself. :)

    Dragon Quest XI was a wierd game for me to get into. The only reason I did was due to the series being represented in Smash Bros.
    It was 2019 and I was living with my best friend's family at the time and was playing this game constantly when it released on Switch. When my friend and I were home alone, we'd play games in the living room since there was speakers all around for surround sound and a much bigger TV. I was home alone by myself and about 10 hours into the game, playing in the living room.
    I go to the ocean within the game for the first time and hear this incredible piece of music surrounding me. I stopped playing for a few minutes and just listened... absorbing how beautiful it sounded. It was moments like this that got me into exploring other entries in the Dragon Quest series.
