Dragon Quest 8 is great! Unfortunately the music on the 3DS version is a downgrade from the PS2 version as it does not use the orchestral arrangements from that version. Thankfully there is a mod for this. (The same applies for Dragon Quest 7 on 3DS)
I had the same experience. Never heard of Dragon Quest until Smash. Tried the 11 demo shortly after and fell in love with the game. Now I've played 1-7, 11 and am in the middle of playing 8. Thank you Sakurai
I'm so glad you uploaded with the intro part. You can listen to this version only once at the cutscene, when Luminary comes out of Heliodor, with a horse waiting.
I'm playing Dragon Quest 11 for the first time ever and this song came on in the third act of the game I understand you die hard fans now. I never had a doubt but my god is this game a masterpiece
I went through the first bit of the game thinking that it was fun, but pretty generic as RPGs go. I do wish this tune had appeared earlier, though, or that the Disc 2 overworld wasn't the same as the Disc 1 one. @@SuperPwnageBoi69 It makes some references to earlier entries of the series, but I wouldn't call them essential knowledge to enjoy the game as a whole at all.
The first time this played for me will always be one of my fondest gaming memories. The chills upon realizing what this song was as the luminary mounted his horse were legendary. I was filled with so much courage that I raced down the heliodorian hills, swiftly avoiding every enemy in my path. Dragon Quest 11 is the best and I'll never forget the many excellent locations, enemies, heroes, and memories that were made playing it.
When this plays in Act 3 for the first time might be the most memorable gaming moment in my life. You leave so much behind in Act 2 just to save the world all over again. That's what a true hero would do. It's especially shocking since by that point you're used to the peppy and joyful overworld theme, and then suddenly you're slapped in the face by those minor chords.
I got goosebumps when this theme played in act 3. I first heard the theme played in dragon warriors monsters at gate of wisdom. It's such an awesome theme.
@@OArchivesX Honestly, it's not even that the music is bad, it's just that there's not nearly enough of it. We just needed more town themes, at least one more OW theme (for the second section of the game), and more dungeon themes - and maybe those should have fit the dungeons better lol.

It's an absolute masterstroke, changing up the overworld music for Act 3. As much as I love the music of this game, and the series, the repetition up to this point would have lulled the player into a bit of a torpor.
